Hello! I have an evo 4g running stock gingerbread 2.3.3. I want to root it, and I just found how to on here. However it is for a windows computer, and I don't have access to one. Does anyone know how to root it with a Mac? I have a desktop all in one system with the latest dsoftware.
Thank you for any help!

Ok so i have done the webtock hack on my atrix 4g and i have rooted it. I am not very familiar with rooting on android devices and flashing and custom roms etc. But now with the new update 4.1.57 i want to update my atrix 4g, but i heard that it can get bricked if you update with a rooted phone or with webtock hack enabled.
So how do i get my phone back to normal? How do i uninstall the webtock hack and unroot it so i can update safely or how can i root at 4.1.57 ? i am very new at all this , this being my first android phone so sorry if my questions are stupid.
Thanks so much for any help
I have the Virgin Mobile Intercept with 2.2 and I would like to root and use a custom ROM. I have been searching everywhere on how to do it, but all I'm finding is either how to root an intercept running 2.1 and how to upgrade to 2.2. So my question is can I follow the 2.1 root instructions or is there a link that tells how to root if your phone already has 2.2? Also what are some good ROMs to consider. Any link or advice is appreciated
hi how are you guys...i just bought this phone and have couple of question..first one...my software version is 2.2 is there anyway i can root the phone anybody have the instruction step by step how to root with the files which i needed...second question is when i go software update from my phone its says i have update for 2.3 gingerbread should i update it from phone or manually do it...any help will be appreciate and please reply soon...
thank you
If you are planning to root and go for custom roms etc then do not update with any official firmware. Head over to the Development forum for all you need to know on rooting, s-off, eng-off etc.
can i use visiionary tool to root or not....do i have downgrade from 2.2 to what....and then root
As mentioned above, go to Development and there you will find detailed stepbystep instructions how to downgrade first and than how to root your phone. Do not install automatic upgrade to 2.3 because it will be harder (not impossible) to root your phone (I learned it hard way after making official upgrade, but my phone is rooted and working well)
Hi, I have a Galaxy Y running Gingerbread and a Macbook running OS 10.6.8. I've searched the forums but haven't found any clear instructions for rooting my phone with a Macbook. I'd be really grateful for some help. If it's not possible then helpful to know this as well. Thanks.
