I am having problems enabling USB Host mode. I have CM7 nightly 163. When I attempt to turn on USB Host mode in Nook Tweaks, it highlights while I press it, but the box does have a check mark in it. Any information would be greatly appreciated.
I am having the same issue. Any thoughts?
Thx
I am running n160 with nook tweeks and host mode runs well for me. Have had no problems thus far. I had debated moving to 163 but I usually wait for reviews from others before taking the plunge. I did notice some of the reviews for 161-162 mentioned issues with BT.
Did you have issues beffore you flashed 163?

I'm running 150 myself. Not sure if that build has problems or not? Anyone else on 150 with usb host working?
Sent from my NookColor using Tapatalk
I tried 150 and had several issues with bluetooth dropping off. I had to turn off BT and restart (sometimes more than once) and a few times, had to unpair and repair/connect to the keyboard. I bounced back to 146 and stayed there till 160 came out. 160 has been rock solid for me.

This has nothing to do with BT. The Usb host mode is not enabling. I've tried a few different nightlies and tried reflashing the OC kernel. None of those seem to work
For people who have the Enable problem.
Are you sure that Nook Tweaks app is running from phone memory and not from Sd?
If not, move it and try again.
Unleashed from Nook Color on Cm7 Nightly 162 @1.200Mhz
The next nightly includes an updated kernel. Perhaps it will resolve issues for some. http://review.cyanogenmod.com/#change,7264
Figured it out. For some reason Nook Tweaks was denied su. Just opened the Superuser app and took it off the denied list. Thanks for the responses.

I have a very strange issue going on with my fascinate right now. Before I go into too much description, here is my setup, to see the big picture. Rooted, stock vzw with geekniks stupidfast for DI01 (thought original kernel was original issue). I've tried to force the ota to DL09 and I get "IP_PREVIOUS_UPDATE_FAILED" as it fails to verify the dl signature.
Ok, on to my true issue. When I plug my SF into my pc, I get unrecognized usb device. I have the drivers installed properly and have previously been able to use odin via usb. My pc doesn't see the sd card mounted or anything. I'm debating unistalling the usb hub and restarting the pc so it will pick it back up as a new device. I have debug mode and unsigned checked, however, the little red triangle is no longer present like it used to be. I also every once in a while have issues with my battery level being accurate, as in it shows 100% when its really at 36% etc. It still charges, and recognizes being plugged in (haptic and audible confirmation).
Anyone have a clue or suggestion? I'm new to android, but well versed in the pc world. I just installed the android sdk in hopes of maybe doing a wireless adb push eventually. I'm A) trying to correct the issue and update my os/rom, or B) somehow get me back to stock and unrooted without being able to usb odin, so I can swap out for a new phone.
Thanks in advance for any help, whether it works or not.

Oh yeah, I'm running Win7 64bit.
Sent from my SCH-I500 using XDA App
so you are on stock vzw but you have used odin before. Did you use it to get clockworkmod on the phone?
did you return to stock from dj05 or dl09 OR have you always been on stock rom
I used odin to flash cwm. I'm on DI01 upadate-1. Had done the first update ota, then rooted and flashed cwm. I have been running that since until today. Thought kernel may have been issue, so flashed geekniks kernel for DI01 and have seen no change, except better performance as was expected. That is where I am now. Thinking about going back to previous kernel, but this seems better until I decide what I can do. Original nandroid and other in betweens to date still manifest the issues, which are only recent, like last few weeks.
Thanks again.

Does not see the Samsung SD Card
I have had similiar issues since DL09.
Try turning off your phone then reconnect USB after it reboots.
Seems to want to see it as a CD Rom.

I've rebooted my phone and pc, multiple times, no luck. Oh, one other thing, I tried popping the sd card into a card reader and I was able to see the files briefly, and upon trying to select anything, it totally disappears from view, as in pc doesn't see card anymore. Now I can't get the pc to see it at all. So I can't read/write it that way. My phone still sees it and can mount and unmount for removal on phone itself, but not with the pc.

Try flashing a different kernel. My first fascinate was picky with which kernels wanted to work right with the.usb connection.
Sent from my SCH-I500 using XDA App
In my experience, you can still use ADB to push and pull things from your device even when your pc doesn't recognize your device. I know this doesn't help with flashing DL09, but it could help you push a different kernel to your device (or you could download one from xda forums via the xda app). A different kernel might clear up the issue for you. Good luck!
This fixes it....

For your first issue it is because you are rooted you will not get ota updates. You should use odin and flash DJ05 imo it is much better and there are more ROMs and kernels

Thanks for all the help, I'm going to give it a whirl later and see if it works. I'll let you know.

Before I get too far deep in, could I just unroot via a terminalapp and then force the OTA to get me up to speed? Would at least like to see if I can deal with the minor malfunction while still being current.

This won't fix the problem because he is not on DL09. It will likely make his problem worse. You might want to read the entire post b4 you give suggestion.
To answer your question sir: if you can't get your pc to read your sd card with a card reader, the problem most likely has nothing to do with your phone. It probably is a corrupted|damaged card. It could also be a problem with your computer (this can be ruled out by successfully connecting another usb device to your computer).
Most likely, you will have to buy another micro usb card.
Sent from my Vanilla Froyo Fascinate
Ok, been trying a few things, and I'm starting to lean towards the sd card being corrupt (as one of the issues), sending my important pics and backups of my contacts, sms, etc to dropbox as we speak. I actually tried the SV kernel from adryn, and my phone has seen no ill effects (possibly no haptic, but didn't care at this point), everything seems to be working just like nothing changed. I actually briefly got the USB debug icon up for a second and it said usb connected, however I was not connected to anything, lol. It had done this on the stock kernel as well. I've booted my phone without the sd card in and it starts up normally, but the USB debug icon is still not present, even though the option is ticked on.
I can still force my phone into download mode, however my computer still doesn't recognize the COM port, so odin is out of the question right now. If I were to get my hands on the stock kernel again, could I factory reset the phone, remove root, and potentially force the OTA and then reroot? I've seen some options for terminal apps where I could ru superuser and busybox. Any thoughts on that route? I may give my roomie's pc a try, when he's out, as well to widen my test field.
Well, I got my pc reading the card via a card reader, but not while inserted in my phone. I'm going to try to uninstall the usb hub on my computer and restart my pc with no usb periphs connected. I read somewhere that someone was able to get the phone recognized again, but I have a feeling that it isn't going to work, since I never see the USB debug icon anymore.
On a side note, I get a com.android.settings force close message somewhat frequently, on stock, geeknik and adryn's kernel. I've started unloading apps left and right, but no avail. Thinking I need to get back to full stock somehow without odin. Suggestions?
I had similar issues. No usb, battery flashing to 100%. Tried everything as you have. Couldn't figure out how to get back to stock without odin. I'm running DJ05 superdark with geeknik 1.54 kernel.
This went on for a week and I was ready to give up and go buy another phone when one day the usb icon flashed momentarily when I plugged it in to charge.
In the end, it turned out to be a dirty usb connector on the phone. Cleaned it with a paper swab dampened with alcohol. I still have no idea why it was so sensitive to the small amount of dirt that came off it.
Hope this helps.
Well, I tried the alcohol swabbing, and it mildly worked. I get the usb debugging icon more often, but it also shows that the usb is connected, even though it isn't. My pc briefly recognized it once. Would I be able to disassemble it and clean or replace the usb port myself?
I've even blasted it with compressed air.
Sent from my SCH-I500 using Tapatalk
You've gone farther than I had to. I didn't need to resort to compressed air.
Do you have more than one usb cable available? I had bought an aftermarket one in addition to the one that came with the phone.
The original cable is still wonky on connection. It charges ok (no more battery jumping to 100%), but usb recognition is a fifty-fifty proposition. The aftermarket cable does charging and usb correctly.
I have had to reset my PC's usb drivers once by rebooting the phone while connected (the PC recognized it as a CD-ROM drive). This may be coincidental or an indication of a chronic connection problem.
I speculate in my case that the aftermarket cable distorted the phone connector somehow so that it doesn't like the original cable any more. Pure speculation.
Anyhow, glad to see that you're making progress. I know how frustrating it was for me. Keep us posted.
I had the same problem at one point. I found out that if your turn the phone off, plug in the usb cord from the computer, then turn the phone on while the phone is still plugged in. once the phone reboots, unplug the phone, then replug the phone in to the computer and then the computer should recognize it. This works for me every time that i have this problem
I'm having an issue with DL30 that I didn't have with any of the Eclair builds. I enable USB Debugging, and then later on in the day when I plug it in, I notice it has shut itself off.
Has anyone else noticed this? Is this just something with Froyo, a bug with DL30 or am I f'ing it up?
Yes I'm experiencing this as well. Something called KiesUSBManager seems to be buggy but I can't figure out how to disable it. Are you using a Mac by chance?
I am running on mac and I am having this problem with PDAnet. I get about 2-3 mins and then I get the boot. Thought it was just me.
I'm an app developer and not having usb debugging available or constant was a serious problem so I had to abandon DL30 in favor of JT's AOSP, which is working pretty well now at least for my needs. I'd prefer DL30 style, but after all day searching I've found no solutions. It seems to be something a Mac user of the Galaxy Tab had with 2.2, so it might be some problem with whatever samsung kies service monitors the usb connection and how that communicates with the mac OS. OS X never tries to mount the SD card even once the USB debugging flips off, so I'm not sure what the problem is. This is the only place I've seen someone else complain about it, so I'm guessing most people are on PC's and don't have the issue or they don't use USB debugging so don't care or haven't noticed.
Anyone running this?
Is there any discussion of the RCs? I find some discussion of Nightlies, but not RC nor info about what is included.
Now for the stoopider question.
Can I install this RC just like the nightlies using Size-agnostic SD Card image and CM7 installer for SD Cards?
Any special considerations? Like clearing Dalvik & cache?
Thanks,
kev
Idk bout running from SD but I have been running off emmc and I just wiped cache and dalvik. It should be the same process as you have been doing for nightly. Just back up first.

I purchased a brand new Nook Color on Monday, brought it home and immediately installed "update-cm-7.1.0-RC1-encore-signed" to the internal SD by following this guide: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1030227
My results so far have been fantastic. The only thing I have experienced so far that is even close to a 'bug' is that the backlight comes on when I plug in the charger, even if the Nook screen is off. Pressing the power button once turns the backlight off. I fully expect to eventually run into some other issue, but for now I am very happy!
I'm about to install it right now, been using the latest nightlies with no problems, but I still update every few days.
I would also like to know if there is a reason to switch to RC if the nightlies are working?
Sent from my Apple IIe
If a nightly is working great, then no particular reason to install just like there is no particular reason to install every single nightly unless you want to. I went from nightly 103 to nightly 112 then to RC1, it works great and yes it can be installed just like a nightly on the sdcard using verygreen's method.

The only reason I switched to 7.1 RC was to more easily implement the USB functions as described in verygreens WebCam thread.
It also requires the latest dalingrin OC kernel of 06/18/2011
Has anyone resolved the BACKLIGHT ON WHILE CHARGING issue in RC1?
Thanks
As for the backlight issue, just tap the power button when you begin charging and the backlight will turn off. My issue with rc1 is flaky wifi. By this, I must explain, not losing wifi signal but random switching between multiple signals at random. I have 2 routers here about 250 feet apart. My nook sits about 10 feet from one of the routers and has a full signal but sometimes decides to drop that signal and connect to the other router which has about a 40% signal. These are both 802.11 G routers.
Sent from my NookColor using Tapatalk
I also have two routers and have noticed the same switching and/or connecting to the one with the lesser signal even though I may select the stronger and hit connect. I just updated to nightly 120 will see if there's any difference.
I tried updating to 7.1.0-RC1 the other day and upon reboot it stayed at the flashing ANDROID text on the side. I was able to boot into recovery and restore a previous backup of 7.0.3.
For what it's worth, I noticed my wi-fi signal changing as well as the nook booting up when I plug it in to charge - both on 7.0.3 prior to attempting the 7.1.0-RC1.
I'm still learning and probably missed a step somewhere with the RC1 flash, maybe I'll give it another shot. Thanks to the devs for all the hard work!
Running it for 2 weeks, stable but some games don't work
Running RC1 for a couple of weeks now - very stable and smooth - but Spiderman: Total Mayhem stopped functioning altogether (was working extremely smoothly on CM 7.0.3).
Let me know if there are any possible workarounds - thanks !

The backlit issue may be a holdover from NC stock because the owner's manual states this is normal.
RC is stable enough.
Running this for about 2+ months and the results are fantastic. Anyone knows when the RC2 or stable release of 7.1 is planned?

It used to happen to me on Stock all the time. On EOS everything is fine.
On my mom's old Netgear Wireless B router whenever I connect my Xoom to it the internet will last for about 30-40 seconds then it stops working although the SSID is still broadcasting there's no internet on either my Xoom or my mother's Laptop. Wired devices still have internet. Rebooting the router solves the problem until the Xoom connects again. Tried changing every possible setting including; fixed IP reservation, broadcast channel change, WEP-, WPA- and MAC filter on/off. Nothing works.
I was sad to learn that android does not support ad-hoc mode for tethering (as I was used to doing that before with Symbian phones and Netbooks)
have the same problem. any solution? team eos ics 1.0.0 already changed channel on router still same problem
Yeah my xoom is wifi only and it happens on my work and home wifi.
Not sure when I use the mobile hotspot on my phone though.

I wonder if this is why I can't get netflix to work every night when I'm at home. I'd be interested in knowing if there is a fix for this.
I've thought about flashing the EOS ROM, but aren't there still bugs with it? I can't get an answer as to the actual benefits of flashing this ROM over staying on Stock ICS.
Any thoughts or comments, I'd be greatly appreciative if some of the users of EOS could offer the benefits of this.

The team EOS roms are solid. They have a stable build available if you don't want to flash a nightly. The roms have plenty of enhancement to the kernel and interface. Also the custom toggles on the notification menu is awesome. Faster boot times. Being able to use wifi while on airplane mode so the 4g or 3g doesn't kill you battery. You can also overclock your device. Finally you can enable the xoom to decrease brightness without hitting the power button twice and turning the charging light while on. Being rooted also has its benefits.
Don't be afraid. Team EOS is your friend.

I've never considered flashing my xoom. If EOS is that good. Is there instructions on how to do it?
I had this problem also. I changed the channel and the type of wireless to G (I normally set it to N type). So far, everything is fine.
It does happen to me also. The worst thing is you need to restart the tablet to turn the connection back up.
both releases are kind of vauge as to what does and doesnot work. I know that theres no bluetooth which doesnt matter and no hardware accelerated video. Did the Sleep of Death ever get resolved? If anyone that knows what major things are broken could fill me in, that would be awesome. Id like to try CM9 instead of CM9 because of the better tablet interface setup. there also seems to be multiple releases from different people. If you could recommend one that would also be cool. Thanks
EDIT:
Im looking at these three:
ROM] CM7 Barebones 02-09-2012 - Custom TWRP backup

[ROM] - 2.11.12 - Hashcode Zone - 4.0.3 ICS - Beta

[ROM][ALPHA] MIUI.us 4.0.3.2.2.3 Ice Cream Sandwiched!

shameful bump. Im really curious which one of those three is the best
I'm using the MIUI one and find everything I need to be working fine.
I'm using hashcode cm9. It works OK, tethergps doesn't work. That's not the roms fault though. Its a little sluggish but its a beta so that's OK.
thanks for the replys guys. noticed any sleep of deaths? and can you use netflix?
I know it's not on your list but HD video(Hw accel) works Whistlestop's CM7 build. Perfect audio/videos sync as well
I'm in Canada and haven't tried Netflix. No SOD issues at all. Not sure what it's called, but when I connect with USB I get the android guy to connect and disconnect with which I didn't get when I tried CM9.
thanks again for the replys guys. Looks like ill be making a nandroid of my current setup and trying out cm7 cm9 and Louis. just wanted to see if it was worth making the switch yet
I've been running Whistlestop's CM7 build for a over a week and it's been awesome-- even more stable than I'd expected. The only thing that I have had trouble with is Titanium Backup crashing when I try to open my last TWRP nandroid backup to extract a few things I didn't backup in TB. Then again, that might not have worked running the stock ROM either. I haven't had any trouble with any apps FC'ing, battery life seems to be about the same, the hardware video acceleration seems to work just fine. I'm 99% certain the WLAN chip (TI WL1270B) isn't capable of Bluetooth (or FM) so that's not a problem. I would like to see USB host mode working so I can attach some external storage
