This is a tutorial for people who are new to xda and the X10 forums...
There are many other people who do not how to thank either
So here are the steps :
Do's :
If a developer
1.) You click on the OP of the dev showing a ROM
2.) You read through his OP
3.) LEFT CLICK the thanks the Thanks button before u do anything
If a good post
1.) You read the post and like it
2.) Left click the thanks button
the thanks button looks like this
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",
"lightbox_stop_slideshow": "Stop slideshow",
"lightbox_full_screen": "Full screen",
"lightbox_thumbnails": "Thumbnails",
"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
and can be found on the bottom right corner of posts
Dont's :
1.) You feel ungrateful
2.) You download and use the ROM without hitting the thanks button
3.) You forget about the thanks button and post "THANKS" or "Good work , mate"
4.) You don't bother to read this guide
5.) You right click the thanks button
6.) You search for a please button
7.) You forgetbto thank even a good post

Nice shot lol Thanked.
EDIT: should devs thank us if we thank them? lol
Haha ,
This is very important
sent from my Android powered smart phone
there's also a donate button...
Aha ,
Yes I'll put that too ...
Thanks
Unfortunately the xda app doesn't have a thanks button
sent from my Android powered smart phone
i see no thanks button, neither on the web, with xda classic theme, nor in xda app
what's the big thing with that anyway? can you buy anything with 10 thanks?
No OFCOURSE not , hehehe
It is just that some developer might just feel discouraged if no body thanks him ...
Every developer is welcome to make a ROM even if it is stupid

Thank you ,
And yeah the absence of the thanks button is sad ...

So do you right-click or left-click this "thank" button? Does it have to be a dev or can you thank someone who posted something? Why is there no "please" button as they are both magic words? I am not sure if someone already asked these questions or not because I did not bother to search this thread for the answers. I prefer my potatoes mashed. Am I going off-topic?

Great, but i donĀ“t see any thanks button :-( in any thread. oh, and thanks for this mini tutorial.
EDIT: ohhh now i can see the button!!! this was after my first post.
You are limited to 5 thanks a day though, so choose wisely. I found this out by trying to be a smart @$$ and "thank" everyone that posted on here. Now I can't "thank" the dev I originally got on here to "thank". In conclusion I have failed at being a smart @$$ and succeeded at being a dumb @$$.
Lol ,
The app really lacks the feature
If this thread becomes a hit ...
The xda app makers will think of putting a thanks button

Kejar,
You do some amazing work! I really enjoy the look and feel of your work, but I'm still not one to do ROM's yet. I am trying to learn the basic's of just getting themes and creating images for the themes before I jump in too deep =)
The reason I originally asked about extracting out the rotary lock as I figured you had built this from source like you did with GummyJAR. I appreciate your quick responses, as I know many devs have a lot going on, and cannot always reply immediately.
If I send you a PM, would you mind answering a few questions for me? I'm trying to jump in to themes, and eventually ROM's, and hopefully be able to give back to the community the same way you have.
Thanks again, appreciate the help and work!
Using GJ 2.1 and its fantastic. But what bugs me is the Zoom icon when browsing the web. Pinch to zoom is great. Don't really need the onscreen zoom icon. Its just annoying.

kejar - I'm still available to test...
Been running GJ2.1 for about a week now, switched from TranQ 3.6. Just want to thank you for the best ROM I've ever used. What a pleasure to have no random reboots. My DX is now as bulletproof as my Mac, the system will run forever if I don't reboot it.
Looking forward to GJ2.5.
Thanks
I just wanted to say thanks for the great GummyJar ROM. The best so far since my dipping into the ROM world. Thanks again!
I agree. GummyJAR is also the best ROM I have used to date and it just keeps getting better . Thanks for you work Kejar.

Any chance of removing the zoom buttons from the browser? Just a small request for an otherwise awesome rom.

This is just a general rant, it just bugs me when help is given on this forum (or any forum) and the person being help never comes back to post a thanks, or 'hey that worked!', or an update on how the problem is going. Its not a huge deal, but sometimes I would like to know if people have resolved their issues. Oh well.

i have th app and never noticed that the thank you button isnt there, lol. but i come on my pc alot and always hit the thank you button.
Tapatalk claims to be working on adding a thanks button and other "thanks" functionality.
People PM me, asking me questions pertaining to technical stuff, software and job related. I answer their questions in detail, and what do I get in return? Absolutely nothing, not even a PM back. Ok, so maybe they're too busy with their real life affairs, so they couldn't respond back to me. Go to a thread, and see the same people responding to posts with my answers (a little re-worded) , and getting thanked for it. I look at my thanks meter, look at matty thanks meter, and just laugh. Maybe I need to white knight and defend one of my carriers Sprint too.
j/k mattykinsx
They could always hit the browser button in the app button and it will take them to the pc version. I should be over 100 thanks right now but it's whatever. As long as I know I've helped.
Honestly, just attempting to help someone with them responding in any form of thanks is fine. It shouldn't bother you and you should just get the pure satisfaction of the action. At least that's the way I see it.
Sent from my PC36100 using Tapatalk
I don't need to get a thanks, but I would like to know if whatever was suggested solved anything or not, that's more of the point I was trying to make. That way when anyone reads a thread about something they would know if the help people give has worked or not.
We're comin from a pure power source.

Amazed at what people can miss. Not to be a peni$ here, but this feature has been there since HoneyComb on my other tablets.
This is my first Android phone, so I cannot say if phones had it prior to ICS. I don't even know if other ICS phones support that, but this being a tablet and I can attest that this feature is not new and has been there since HC on old tablets.
What would be a neat feature is:
1. Add an icon to swipe. Just like on iPhones. I learnt how to modify those swipers that I made my own: with my girlfriend's pic, my pic, my motorcycle, my car, my ***, etc, etc.
2. Gesture unlock just like in Win8. Doodle on a picture to unlock the device. This looks like fun.
