Cant get past boot loader with S-off and root - EVO 4G General

I recently rooted and attempted to flash a rom to my evo. I have tried both clockwork and RA 2.3 currently. I flashed the stock rooted rom as well as synergy. I keep getting the bootloader evertime I reboot.
I flashed the rom with RA it says that it was successful, but I keep getting the bootloader. Did I change a setting in the boot loader and miss it? I have also tried booting the phone without the sd card in the phone.
I also tried wiping the
-Data
-Cache
-Dalvik Cache
-.android_secure
-System
3x each and then reflashed
Any help is appreciated sorry if I rambled but Im trying to include any important information.

Wipe boot, system, cache, data, dalvik, and then flash. I did this and I got no issues. Just be sure to use a proper nandroid backup to restore too. I used twrp as my default recovery and RA as my secondary for when I wanted to wipe boot if I was having issues (I kept getting bootloops) so I say try that and report back here.

My phone went dead last night so Ill leave it to charge all day and try it again, I had previously tried wiping all 5 that I had listed in the op 3 times and then flashed. I will try it again this afternoon.

Just a thought, you may want to reflash your recovery

so I DL the image from forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=7889836&postcount=18 and then DL the cyanogen rom. I followed the same steps as I had multiple done multiple times and explained above but this time it worked.
Maybe it was the RA version I was using, not real sure.
I appreciate the help again.

I have my recovery become corrupt twice since I got this phone in February.
Reflashing Recovery fixed it both times

Unlockr didn't totally work. Did nandroid restore. Not sure where I am now.

I tried yesterday to one-click root my MT3G following unlockr.
Got the Amon-Ra recovery on there, but it hung on the green MT3G splash screen when I tried flashing cyanogen 4.1.11 .
Waited like over 20 minutes. So I took out battery, and tried to boot again. Same thing. So I rebooted into recovery and tried flashing ROM again.
No matter what ROM I tried, I got a "E:Can't open /sdcard/update.zip (bad)" message. (I redownloaded ROMs from different sources given the message thinking maybe they were bad or incomlplete, but nothing worked).
I finally did a nandroid restore.
Now I'm not sure where I am. Given that I restored my stock nandroid backup, my understanding is I'm no longer rooted. Though, I am still able to boot into the Amon-Ra recovery. which I thought would have not still been possible. I downloaded better terminal and tried typing "su" but it wouldn't let me continue, so that confirms not rooted, right?
Do I run the recovery flasher app again (which is still on the phone), and reflash a recovery image? Or should I delete the app and redownload the recovery flasher apk.
Just not sure how to safely retry.
You need to provide more details about your process. I actually unrooted mine previously done with Cyanogen Recovery and rerooted with same instructions on that site only this time with Amon Ra recovery image without problems. In my case I wanted the option of formatting partitions. Maybe you should try Cyanogen stable Rom first, like 3.68.1 version. I had an issue with 4.1.11.1 after I partitioned the card so I did 3.68.1>4.0.4>4.1.11.1.

Bootloop with any custom ROM

I will try to cover any info you might need. I am using windows 7, my phone had 1.5 originally 1.47 hboot. I got the 2.1 official ota.
On monday, I rooted using the pb00img.zip, loaded amon-ra 1.6.2, did factory/data wipe, dalvik wipe, flashed kaos v20, boot looped, tried v.19 with full and dalvik wipe, same.
I have tried all version of kaos from 19-23, evileris 3, celb, cyanogenmod 6. All have the same boot loop, I have done the following:
Reloaded the pb file
Reloaded amon-ra
Have tried manually wiping data and dalvik using adb shell
I have formatted my sd card through windows
I have partitioned my card through amon-ra
Here is a pastebin of my bootup.
http://pastebin.com/SMhKDYZq
The phone starts up with the 3 skateboarding droids, sits there for a bit, screen goes black, i get a little vibrate, then the 3 skaters come back, rinse and repeat.
I have dont have apps2sd, or setcpu. Any help would be greatly appreciated,

Did you ever create a nand backup? If so, go back to it first and verify you don't have a hardware issue.
If you don't have a backup, search this forum for the Eris RUU and I'd go back to that and root using the newest method...basically start over from a working phone.
I do have a nand backup, I have been restoring when i leave work because my phone has to be working. It works fine with the OTA 2.1 that i had just rooted...
have you tried doing full data wipe/dalvik wipe after flashing a rom when i first installed roms i didn't wipe anything for 2 or 3 roms but they all seemed to flash over eachother. but then i couldn't flash anything and i thought somehow i broke something. but then i just did a full wipe after a flash and started up like it should have. took a while the first boot but ever since then i haven't run into any issues

I had this same issue last night, though I kept repeating the Nexus-style boot screen (the "X" thing) over and over. I did a full data/dalvik wipe and everything came up just fine. I had this experience with two different CyanogenMod ports.

Semi Brick

Ok, So I used the gfree method to fully unlock the g2. (SuperCID, SimUnlock, etc etc) Now, I tried to flash the stock rom and it errored out on me. So I wiped data/cache/dalvik and just tried to restore my nand backup of CM. Once restore was complete, phone keeps boot looping. Any ideas?
Edit: Nevermind. I wiped again and did another restore of CM and it took it this time for some reason. Dont know why it didnt the first time but im unbricked as of now.

Flashing won't work unless I wipe data

UPDATE: After completely wiping everything(recovery, ROM, bootloader, etc), and putting it back in with fastboot I no longer have this problem. My recovery probably just got corrupted or something while getting sent over to the device.
Got my Nexus 7 3 days ago, had it unlocked and all that jazz within the hour(thanks to the people who put the stuff together). It's great, but I have a problem with flashing .zip files in recovery. It doesn't matter what type of thing I'm wanting to flash(ex-kernel,rom, or even the uber-simple 720p camera mod), if I don't do a full wipe before flashing, then it just ends up boot looping my device. The boot loop doesn't turn the phone all the way off, just the boot animation. Sometimes the launcher will pop up for half a second and then go back to the boot animation.
For example, whenever I flashed the rasbeanjelly rom, I first flashed that, then rebooted(got excited and forgot about gapps) and checked it out. Remembering about gapps, I went back to recovery and flashed gapps. Then it boot looped the animation. After flashing gapps again(trying different combos of wiping cache/davlik), I flashed the rasbeanjelly rom again, and then gapps immediately afterwards. Still a bootloop. So I did a full wipe(including data this time), sideloaded my .zips, and then it flashed and rasbeanjelly booted up with gapps just fine.
This exact same problem has been happening with every .zip that I try to flash(running TWRP, yes all my stuff is updated). If I want to flash a kernel, I have to flash it when I flash my ROM or else I'll get boot loop. I can't really make any modifications without having to completely wipe my device(which is annoying because I carry a lot of data around on my stuff)
I'm asking if there is a way to flash a .zip without having to completely wipe my device. I'm not a noob to android at all(ROM cooker over at androidforums), but I can't figure it out, I'd love to make stuff for the grouper but this is kind of a big roadblock for me. Logcat isn't helping either. Hopefully I just skimmed over something and it's a simple fix. Thank you for your tips/suggestions/solutions.
EDIT: forgot to mention something. When I flash a new ROM and get it going, I always make a full backup in recovery. If I flash something, and boot loop it, I can't restore it correctly. Recovery says that it restores all good, but it still boot loops(even though I just restored a backup of a non-boot looping system from no more than 5 minutes ago).
If I read your post correctly, you've only tried this on one ROM. Try the same thing on CM10 or PA or whatever you want.

I've actually used several, and it seems to be happening on all of them. I've tried flashing things with PA, CM10, Stock, and RasberryJelly. The kernels I have attempted to flash have been Trinity, Motley, and Franco. All with no success and boot looping me :/

[Q] Xt907 Freezes at bootloader unlock screen on 4.3 Roms

Hi guys I've been searching and cant seem to find an answer. My xt907 is rooted and my boot loader is unlocked I'm running CWM. If i install any 4.3 roms they work great for initial boot but as soon as i reboot it hangs at the warning boot loader unlocked screen. And the only way i can get the phone working again is to get to ap fastboot and use the DROID_RAZR_M_Utility_1.20 to factory reset everything. If i flash a 4.2.2 rom i don't have any problems. Any ideas guys ? Ive searched and cant seem to find an answer anywhere. Thanks in advance!
My first flash of 4.3 did this... after that I used twrp and haven't had it happen since...
Sent from my XT907 using xda app-developers app
The latest TWRP+mounting system prior to data/system wipes will probably solve your problems. Also, if you have a backup stored, you shouldn't need to fastboot every time.
I've been having the same problem. I thought it might be because I was using CWM, so I thought I'd give it a go with TWRP 2.323. I made a backup, wiped System, Formatted Data and wiped cache and Dalvik cache and installed [ROM][4.4.1][Official][OSE Rom][XT907].
It installed and booted up fine. After a restart, it hung on the bootloader screen. After booting up into TWRP and restoring the backup, it's still hanging on the bootloader unlocked screen. Doh!
I just reinstalled the new ROM and will hope I don't have to restart while I'm out today. Any ideas on things I can try to get things working?

Okay, I downloaded xt907-twrp-2.6.3.0. In trying to flash with fastboot, it's hanging on <waiting for device>. USB Debugging is enabled and the device is showing up. Thanks for the help!

Fastboot!
Extract the recovery.img from the zip.
But why do that, just flash the zip from your twrp you now have installed

I believe the one that Avi has is a .zip, not a .xml, so it needs to be flashed in recovery. Load it up on your SD, boot into the recovery you have now, flash the new recovery, and then reboot recovery.
TWRP 2.6.3.0 flashed successfully. Unfortunately, that didn't help at all. My phone still froze on the boot screen. I then booted into the new recovery, wiped everything and reinstalled the rom. Now it won't even boot the first time into the ROM, it just freezes on the boot screen. Help!
*EDIT
I just reinstalled it again and formatted data on top of the wipes this time. It booted into the new rom this time, but it did not get past the boot screen after restarting still.

Many people ran into this issue when 4.3 came out and then someone realized that we were forgetting something when wiping. It was something that we did when the BL was first unlocked, but everyone seemed to forget about it. We were forgetting to mount system, prior to performing wipes of the data/caches. Like Avi said, first, I would DL the ROM again and then place it in your SD. When you wipe, do the FDR option first. After that, go into mount and mount system. Then, go into the advanced wipe options and wipe data, system, cache/dalvik, and format data again. At this point, you can install the ROM as normal, don't re-mount system prior to installing, though. When I am done wiping, I always reboot recovery, but you don't have to do that.

Okay, I downloaded the zips again to make sure. This freezing at bootloader screen has happened with every of the dozen or so roms I've tried installing over the past 6 months since I unlocked the bootloader.

Could you clarify a little bit?
1.) Mount system
2.) Wipe (Factory Reset: data, cache, dalvik)
3.) Format data
4.) Install zips
What's the FDR option?

Following the above steps didn't solve it The rom installs fine, boots up for first time normally, but still freezes on the bootloader screen after a restart.
Try geting to the bootloader options & choose normal pwr up.
The new twrp will stick at the big M sometimes.
Then the file is bad or you are missing the install steps. FDR (Factory Data Reset) is the first option you get when you go into the wipe menu, before you go into advanced options. Make sure you're wiping system too, after you mount. If it doesn't work, then it's a bad file or you're still doing something wrong. Upgrading to the most current TWRP and mounting system fixed the issues for 99% of the people. The other 1% just have one of those phones that is "quirky."
okay not sure if your still having this problem. But i never did solve my issue just kept using 4.2.2. But i just flashed the new jbx kernel and a KitKat rom the other along with the newest version on safestrap and i have no issues. Everything flashed and installed perfectly and it boots like a champ. So maybe just skip over 4.3 like i did and see if you still have the issues. Sorry didnt see you were trying to flash 4.4. Only thing i can suggest is make sure you have newest safestrap and wipe out the old etc. But im sure everyone already touched on this stuff before me

Part of your problem is because you are using SS. If you're BL is unlocked, get rid of SS and use CWM or TWRP. SS is not a real recovery replacement, your stock recovery is still there. That's probably part of the reason you had issues.
possibly but i have 0 issues now so its not a big deal.
I have the stable Cyanogenmod 10.1 installed on my phone now. I'm able to restart my phone without any consequences finally. Yay.
I also tried the cm-11-20131221-NIGHTLY-xt907.zip build. That one would initially start up fine, but a restart gave me the frozen bootloader screen. I tried it twice, redownloading it, too. Gah, it's frustrating not being able to try out different roms, but at least I have one that works!
Well, thanks for the help guys. I'd still like to be able to install other roms, so if anyone else has something I can try, I'll do it!
