Auto Rotate

I installed the froyo beta, and ever since then, my phone won't auto rotate anymore. Ive already ODINed back to stock, it still wont work Any ideas or help?
-Edit-
I downloaded Accelerometer Test to make sure that the accelerometer wasn't busted. It's working fine. The phone just will not rotate.
Only two things I can think of:
1: Go to settings > Sound and Display > Make sure Orientation is checked.
2: (If using Launcher Pro). Menu button while on homescreen > Preferences > Behavior Settings > make sure Enable Auto-rotation is checked.
Other than that, no idea :\

On stock, the homescreens wont rotate unless the keyboard is slid out.
Is it rotating on the browser and on pictures?

No. And if i slide the keyboard out, it rotates. But then it gets stuck in landscape unless i go to something that forces portrait mode, such as the home screen.

Ah if its even getting stuck in landscape mode than its got to be something framework or .apk related.
Beats me, sorry man :\ Hope someone is able to help you more so than I could.

This worked for me but I'll take no responsibility if it mucks something else up
1. Download a terminal app from the market
2. Enter one line at a time.
su
/system/bin/sensorcalibutil_yamaha
3. Follow the onscreen directions, while making sure you device is flat.
pay attention to the bump at bottom on back.
I hung said bump off the edge of table
I preformed this AFTER flashing to stock and then flashing my former ROM.
So it was not done in 2.2"

THANK YOU! I had the same problem and this fixed it. Of course, i had to root my shizzle again. By chance did anyone with this problem run the Froyo 2.2 built-in calibration before this came about?
Oh wow, thank you so much!! The fix using the terminal emulator totally worked for me too, I thought I was going to have to go back to stock to see if it would fix itself! After running the lines in the terminal, it still wouldn't automatically detect orientation, so went to the display settings, unchecked orientation, and checked it again, and now works perfectly! The lack of orientation was so frustrating, especially after using the keyboard and the only way to fix it was turning off the screen... thanks again!
Does this increase the speed of rotating in froyo beta cuz i noticed the rotating is really slow

This helped for me. I was having the slow rotation problem as well. This fixed it. I didn't see results right away though. Took a few minutes and a restart to work

Just wanted to bump this. I had issues with auto rotation broken after going to DK28 and downgrading back to DI18.
I didn't test if it fixed it or not, however it did remove the annoying lag on DK28 when the screen rotates. Only reason I was downgrading
What terminal app did you use?
It says "su" is not found

Auto Rotation problem?

hi im new here. i found out my sgs2 got auto-rotation problem. i turn off auto-rotation on notification bar. and also in display>off auto-rotation. But..it still ON automatically...anyone has a this problem?
is there any fix for this? thanks yaa..
What do you mean it's on automatically ? Some applications just don't obey this setting.
yeah.. when i open notification...it ON again. but in setting show OFF... hmm, why aaa??
eg: when i open setting or messaging...it horizontal and change back to vertical. and i have to OFF again Auto-rotation in notification...and ok for awhile.
if i reboot. it didnt save the auto-rotation setting. it keep ON...
I see .. I have no idea why it's doing that though .. mine does no such thing.
I had this problem when i used touchwiz, it doesnt seem to do it anymore when i switched over to launcherpro

TPT CM10 Koshu Auto Screen Rotation Broken

Hi,
I'm posting here because I'm not allowed to post in the dev subforum. I'm told that I do not have enough real posts to be given posting access there.
I just bought a TPT and love it. I updated to ICS, rooted, installed CWM 6, then flashed Koshu CM10 0.9.2. Everything works great, and I really have to tip my hat a Koshu. However I do have one issue, my auto screen rotation function is broken.
I have checked the following settings:
Launcher -> General -> Auto Rotate Screen enabled
Display -> Rotation ->Auto Rotate Screen and Include lock screen enabled
Accessibility -> Auto Rotate Screen enabled
I've formatted all data and clean flashed. Nothing.
I've also confirmed the accelerometer is working using games and accelerometer logging apps.
Can anyone lend a hand?
Thanks,
Boggie168
Maybe try cycling the auto rotate using the button (left hardware key) and rebooting the tpt?

No luck...
I noticed that if I'm in the camera app, the buttons for the camera will rotate as I turn the tablet. But for anything else, like the browser, homescreen, or lock screen it is suck in landscape mode.
How did you format? Did you try using the format zip?

Yes I formatted using the format zip provided in the CM10 Koshu thread.
No idea then...

the display does not rotate properly .... to make it rotate in landscape mode, I have to put it horizontally and tilt it slightly to the right ... I have to use it in a vertical turn it slightly to the right .. and hope to work properly ..
with applications that give the possibility to calibrate the sensors have not had results.
the problem occurred after uninstalling Nova launcher.
I have tried all possible solutions including reinstalling nova launcher ...
I did the flash device but without result
I do not know what more to try .... thanks for the help!

did you reflashed your device and it's still not working? or what do you mean? =)
it can be the sensor, which is broken, or you changed something in the settings. you have your rotation activated in the settings, aren't you?

Screen rotation fix for latest update

Hello, if you are experiencing bad screen rotation after latest update you can do this while waiting for the next update, hopefully CM13
Install this app
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=nl.fameit.rotate&hl=en
Let it handle system rotation control and set it to automatic, it should fix your issues for now
Or if it doesn't work try this one, cause it seems to work better
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.crape.rotationcontrol&hl=en
Open the app and activate the two switches
In a German community it has been reported that switching auto rotation on and off in the display settings would fix the problem. Did u tried it? I'm on CM13 ... Can't try by myself

Just tried it. It feels less laggy but still needs 3-4 secs to rotate.

Yup doesn't work. The gyroscope seems okay, IMO its just a bug in the ROM, installing a rotation app seems to help but often isn't responsive. At lest i can use the notification to toogle tge screen orientation. I hope we get CM13 soon
