How to install Arkat-DoubleSense v1.2? - HD2 Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting and Genera

Someone could help me. It will be my first time to update the ROM to a version NAND. I usually use the SD versions without problems. I downloaded this rom but I was not happy to upgrade. Anyone know any tutorial to install this rom?

Question about Roms...........

From what I was taught in school, I thought that ROM files CAN NOT be replaced. So, how does this ROM thing work?
I would like to know as I am so confused, as I've installed TouchFlo3D a long time ago, but I don't think that's necessarily a ROM, because it's cab file and it runs through Xperia's ROM.
Any simple explanations would be nice, and essentials links would be too. The links are confusing for me to learn on my own.

Thread moved.
ROM's can be Flashed rather than Written To. The ROM is an area on the NAND chip in the device.
If you want to upgrade your ROM with the update from your carrier you can do by following their instructions.
If you want to flash one of the Cooked ROM's on here you need to replace the bootloader (SPL) with a patched one (called Hard SPL) that doesn't check if the ROM image is signed by HTC or not (amongst other things).
If you're wanting to so this I'd have a look on the wiki and read the sticky threads before you start.
Good luck,
Dave
Basically a ROM is read-only, that is to say you are not meant to put files on it and remove them again. However, you can FLASH the ROM, FULLY REPLACING IT WITH OTHER CONTENT. The ROM serves as a kind of installation disc afterwards, Windows Mobile is then installed on a secondary memory which is NOT ROM and it is run from this memory. The ROM is only used for Hardreset, where you kinda reinstall Windows Mobile.
I really like the costum Touch It Rom, but I am afraid of the bugs, so I'd like to know this:
1) If I flash my ROM, does it FLASH only my ROM, will it flash my Rom and also save my installations/settings? For example, if I want a clean ROM, do I need to format the phone first?
2) I really hate installing over 30 of my .cabs and .exes everytime I format the phone!
3) Does flashing my ROM to a new version require formatting the phone?
4) Is the ROM version the same as Firmware Version?
5) You said this:
If you want to upgrade your ROM with the update from your carrier you can do by following their instructions.
So How where do I go to update my OFFICIAL ROM?
I've gotten all of the softwares that I have ever wanted...thanks to you guys and thanks to the software I purchase
My next goal is to get the best capabilities out of my phone, (while learning this very new thing called rom flashing)
flashing
if you flash a new rom....(either custom or official)... you will have to install all of your cabs over again. flashing a rom will erase everything on the phone just like a hard reset.
if you want official firmware from an official source then go to sony ericsson's support website and download the software updated program. the other option is to go to the list of all available roms here on xda-dev site and just download the offical rom you want and flash it using the sd card method. if you choose to download and flash a custom rom you will need hard spl first.

Do you mean flashing it using the sd card method as in:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=446070
Which means backing up my ROM before installing the update?
Also is this the official link to the OFFICIAL R2 Rom?
http://www.sonyericsson.com/cws/support/softwaredownloads/detailed/updateservice/x1?lc=en&cc=us
Also, if I install the ROM officially, would I still reformat my phone?

the first link is to "how to flash custom roms"....if you just want to flash an official rom with the sd card method you do not need the steps for the hard spl. just follow Step 2 (flashing roms)
the second link you provided is for the sony update software.. you download that and install it to your pc. connect phone to pc with active sync. launch the program and follow instructions.

YES, when installing a new ROM, official or cooked, through SEUS, SD-card or RUU, your memory gets erased.

yeah I just decided to update my rom the official way, and it told me it will delete my data. So I just purchased sprite backup right now, and I'm in the process of backing up.
By the way, why does the version on SEUS say version 2.9 and the version on our site says R2A?????

Nothing realy.
This forum has shed loads of different terms and depending on the context depends on what people are on about.
ROM version and Firmware version are usually the same. I'd reckon it's whatever it says in the Device Information in Settings.
There's an OS / CE Build (or XIP/SYS) version which relates to the version of the operating system (Windows Mobile) on the phone.

[Q] Installing a new (different) android OS

I'm really new to all this and so I apologize for a redundant question. If you can lead to to the correct thread or just answer the question that would be wonderful. I installed android on my sisters HD2, not sure which version it's just there. I know it's NAND but to be more specific I don't know which OS. She wants me to put 2.2 Froyo or 2.3 Gingerbread on there and I'm wondering how to do that. The guides I'm reading on here say to go to magldr and then open the ROM on my pc and click the DAF and install it. I thought I installed the right ROM but that file does not exist. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you
I expect that your best bet would be to check the Droid nand threads and see if you can recognise the one you used

Go to Settings > About Phone to find all the details you need - the Android version, the ROM version et all. And then decide if you want to load a new NAND ROM or not.
you should install cwm, too. it's one step more but it's worth it and you will have a lot more choice when chosing a rom.
i don't know a up to date rom that is available as a daf flashable version.
full guides on how to install it are in the rom thread most of the time.
Install cwm and then try this rom http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=769026, its one of the fastest rom i have i used so far, one thing tho it doesnt have sense but im sure your youll still like it.
I have just purchased a HD2 aswell and would like to install android gingerbread... i have read through the how-to threads on here 'http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=905060' a million times and being the worlds most useless person with a mobile i just dont have the courage to do it as i dont understand none of the terminology etc... could somebody please point me in the direction of a full step-by-step guide for dummies lol
i am currently running on:
flash size: 512mb
OS version: 5.2.21864 (21864.5.0.81)
ROM version: 1.43.405.1 (70124) WWE
ROM date: 10/26/09
Radio version: 2.04.50.22_2
(i believe these are the ones most mentioned in the threads... but mean nothing to me )
i could literally do with the lamens guide with pictures the lot.. BUT any help for a so called 'newb' would be very much appreciated.
thanks in advance
PLEASE HELP .... i have installed maglrd, clockworkmod recovery 1.2.7 etc... then realised i hadnt installed the android itself so i went into the USB mass storage and installed gingerbread from ''NexusHD2-Gingerbread_V3.2a_NAND_(Android-2.3.7).zip'' but there are only 3 files (BOOT, META-INF, SYSTEM) but i cant find anything to run? .... the phone is currently idling in maglrd and im getting rather worried about breaking it... PLEASE HELP
Don't open that zip file. Put the whole zip on your SD, start magldr, choose ad recovery, that will start cwm, in cwm choose install zip from SD - choose zip, that's it.

[Q] DFT V2 Update

Hello,
My wife have a Surround with DFT ROM V2, i read about a method with .cab files to upgrade the phone to the last version of the OS but i need to be sure that it works since she do not want i wipe her phone.
Anyone knows if i apply upgrade method with .cab sender to have lastest OS version there will be no issues?
Txs for any information regardless the matter.
PD:Sorry for my english hoping it is understandable
In my experience using the cab sender with custom roms is really hit or miss. It will work with some custom roms and others will give you a failed update but the rom itself will be fine.
Thanks for your answer

[q] How to update after build 7392?

Hi Guys and Girls,
I just got my HD2 today and installed Phone 7 using XBMod/Yuki 2.1.
Now the phone is updated with Zune to version 7.0.7392.0 but instructions aren't clear on how to proceed further.
Offcourse I want the latest version of Phone7.
I can't find links to hd2 7720 fix.rar, and deviceprovisioning.cab.
Can anyone help me further?
Thanks,
Bart
Try this one.
U should try another rom like this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1534941
That rom update our HD2 to 8773 and no need update by Zune any more.
Anything u need to do is
1. task29 the phone and format your sd card to make sure the phone run smooth.
2. Reinstall MAG and choose USB install, wait few second and run DAF from zip file.
Sorry for my bad Eng.
Have fun.
dont forget to unlock card before change ROM
i recommend this rom
