Are you on rooted gingerbread?
DROID X running liberty GB V.8

Rooted froyo. Any way to turn off auto checking for OTAs?

Nope its pushed to your phone from VZW. I think if you freeze a bloatware with Titanium Pro and allow it to try and update and fail it should stop notifying you. There is a thread somewhere on XDA about it.

Why don't you flash the 2 part 602 gb update?
Across the airwaves via DarkslideX in 602 limbo.......

You can just go into Titanium Backup and search for 'Updater 23.3". Then I was not bothered about getting the update from verizon anymore.

How do I flash froyo beta with out root and clockworkmod???

Hello, I am not rooted and know nothing about clockworkmod. (I have tried rooting numerous times but no success. I'm thinking drivers) I would like to know if its possible to flash it with my epic being stock? I have searched and have turned no results about flashing it from stock. Everything refers to rooted. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

THANKS! Just downloaded and installed from a forum here, it rebooted, how can I check to make sure I have root now?
Sent from my SPH-D700 using XDA App
Download titanium backup.

Ok I will. I just tried flashing the beta and it says something about invalid signature??

You still need clockwork to flash.
Sent from my SPH-D700 using XDA App
Do I need to buy clockwork?
Sent from my SPH-D700 using XDA App
No but I am not sure if you can install it without a pc. Are you using the drivers from samsung?
Sent from my SPH-D700 using XDA App
Yes I downloaded samsung galaxy s drivers from here when I tried to root. Never for them to work even with 2 fresh installs. Thanks for the info on the z4root, by far the easiest and fastest way I've ever rooted before. But ya I have samsung drivers.

is it the same driver you get from the samsung website? You said you got them here so I am just checking cause I am not sure. I got mine right from the samsung website.

I got them here from xda. Can I only use clockworkmod from a computer?
Sent from my SPH-D700 using XDA App
download rom manager by clockworkmod in market, free will do
Just tried to use that to flash the froyo beta and it says signature verification failed.

I am afraid I won't be any help there. I haven't flashed clockwork yet because I am not sure how easy it is to remove (noob) so I am waiting until Froyo releases. Unless I can't find an easy method to install it and uninstall it.
just downloaded z4root and rom manager from market
z4root installing right now

Ginberbreak is outdated in rooting the X.
Pete's Motorola Root Tools can be used to root the latest OTA.

Droid 3 One click root is what I use for DX, on 602 or 605 builds.

What should I do to not get the OTA?

I wanna keep lte, and I have no issues with 4.2.1
Because once the ota comes the stupid notification doesn't go away
Should I root? I heard if you're rooted you don't get the OTA

If you don't have stock ROM or Kernal the update should fail - I think.
Just ignore the request to update once it comes into your phone.
Sent from my Nexus 4 using xda app-developers app
you just need to reinstall the old modem once you updated to get LTE back
