Ok, I'm running Synergy, love it so far. I installed button remapper to tell the genius button to search, but I cannot for the life of me figure out how to do it. Any tips?

I have ManualNooter 4.4.28 installed and I can't figure out how to switch between apps. On my Mesmerize I hold down the home button and it will bring up a list of my last used apps.
I tried holding down the N button and tried double-tapping the N button but neither seem to work.
Help?
Sounds like you may have the soft keys virtual home setup kind of borked. Might want to try looking there.
Got a new NC, installed CM7.1, it rocks.
Got a couple of questions, and I haven't been able to find answers after a week's worth of searching.
1. Any way to get the "n" button to put it to sleep, rather than having to use the power button? Basically I'd like the "n" button to be near-dedicated wake-sleep.
2. I have an app on my phone called "Task Tray" that I REALLY like. I put it on my nook but it doesn't work. Seems it defaults to long-press of the search button, but the tablet-tweaks search button doesn't activate it with a long-press. Anyone know of a way to fix this, or to get a similar app that can be mapped, say, to a long-press of the "n" button or something?
Other than that, the NC rocks! I'm addicted.

When you say genius button, do you mean the genius feature or the entire button does not work at all? Does google search pop up after hitting the button?
there's a genius button zip out there somewhere but highly unstable from what I've seen

The buttons aren't "mapped" properly on this ROM. I downloaded Button Remapper here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=850464 which I usually use to turn the Genius button into a back button. However, in this ROM when I use that program, only one button shows up and I think it's the trackpad. I have no idea where button mapping falls on the dev spectrum but my guess is pretty high. If elginsk8r gets the mapping recognized, you can use an app like the one I linked to make your genius button bring up a search window. You would need the actual (as mentioned above: buggy) Genius app to get all of the original "SAY A COMMAND" Genius button functions though.
Ok so I have this SW related problem (ROM on my sig), where home button not always works. If i hold power button until the power screen appears, i can close it and then home buton works OK for anoter lets say 15mins only, so its quite annoying.
How can map return home action for lets say holding down search key? The problem is neither about button itself (works perfect n other ROMS) nor launcher (when killing foreground app phone returns to the homescreen)
I know i can do it from screen with button savior but it's by far not as practical as using capactive buttons and it's not what I'am looking for.
Other than that the ROM is very close to perfect, so changing it is not an option

I think, must check, that Jellybean lets you do that?
Well, even if it does, I'am running MIUI on ICS.
CM10 and codefireX nightlies (and JellyTime too maybe, I haven't tried) have that working. There's a CM feature in settings called 'Hardware keys' where you can assign different functions to all keys for short press and long press. Though bliind's MIUI is based on CM, it doesn't have the option.

I see...
is there any way of getting similiar sw on other roms?
btw i'am running the official 2.9.7 MIUI based on ICS straight from miui.com, not bliind's custom build.
I remember there was some app for that.
I think it's called button remapper, and it does just that. It's in a beta version, but I used it with success. It is ROOT, but you already have that.
If you can't find it then I'd be willing to pull the .apk from a backup and give it to you.

Well, this app was capable of mapping short press, but it turned out mapping different keys didn't solve the problem. I guess without official update there is not much can be done... Thanks anyway.
can not be! clerical error
Hello everyone!
I am currently using @Lenny Bard's SuperTouchWiz v5 ROM (https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s4/i9505-develop/rom-untouched-stock-rom-t3419034) and I'm loving the ROM except for one thing:
The leftmost key (to the left of the home button), once short-pressed launches the switch app, the long-press does the menu function (or settings? w/e). I want to swap the two as I am much used to a short press launching the menu function.
Can anyone help or lead me to somewhere which can help me solve my problem? I've been searching around but alas it seems that I cannot fully find the proper solution.
Except for Xposed, there isn't any way to do it. Except if you're a developer.

My installed ROM comes with Magisk manager, any way to make a workaround with it?

Unless there is a Magisk module that allows you to do it, then no.
Well here's what I did which turned the soft press to menu and long press to google search (altho what I wanted was for it to become app switcher but the long press on home button does that already so I guess it's fine )
On system/usr/keylayout/Generic.kl
I replaced Key 139 APP_SWITCH to MENU
and Key 217 to APP_SWITCH
