[Q] [HELP][REQUEST] Developing Roms And other Questions - GT540 Optimus General

HI to all my senior members, admins, moderators and developers I have a humble request to make..
I speak on behalf of people who like to game on their phones (gt540)
Can our senior developers help me in making a rom totally dedicated to gaming and apps..
Many of you also maybe wanting this..i have brief knowledge in java and C++
Sorry for posting this thread here and not in the development section due to some reasons
Also is there a way to port armv7 games to armv6 cpu of ours...
And a link to 2.0.1.8 recovery for our gt540
I have another doubt i cannot access recovery in 2.1 roms...and also in other roms which do not have menu to do this
I access fastboot in another way HOME+SEARCH+Vol Up And the screen goes black and a small box of lines is written fastboot mode..Is this normal...
Also does editing build.prop help in gaming of some sort like changing device name and manufacturer to HTC Desire HD...THANK YOU
And I will be posting up a good rom soon...

Porting armv7 games to armv6? Not really, you would have to decompile or re-compile any proprietary libs specific to that game for armv6, which may pose copyright issues.
2.5.1.8 recovery link here
Yes, your fastboot key is normal, you are using the old 'clockwork recovery' kdz that is in a tutorial on MoDaCo. There is no problem.
And no, editing build.prop to a higher-end device may cause the application to use better graphics quality and size, which will a) Make the phone laggy b) Cause apps to not fit on the screen (If they get device info from build.prop). Although it probably wont do anything harmful, but it won't do anything at all.
Also, it isn't hard to create ROMs, well, softmod roms are easy but CM/AOSP/Ports are harder to create.

Android on ARM920T phones? (like Trinity.. ;-))

Dear all,
as I wrote on this other post (excuse me for crossposting - please mods to close the wrong-placed one):
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?goto=newpost&t=384850
there are two guys that recompiled Android for ARMv4 processor - like ARM920T, the trinity processor!!
Here you have the links:
http://benno.id.au/blog/
http://perpetual-notion.blogspot.com/2008/10/android-freerunnder-updates.html
They are working on the Freerunner and Neo1973 devices.. but the processor is the same..
Anyone out there wants Android on our beloved trinity?
At the moment I have no spare time (and skills) to take the challenge.. but I hope that someone will do.
I think that with the source code the CLZ and Thumb mode issues are completely addressed.
Anyone could confirm this to me?
Best regards,
s
Hi,
i'm also interested to see android on my htc hermes. i'm waiting benos new blog entries to see if he was able to run the code on "Neo1973".
What is the diference between htc hermes and htc dream (g1) regarding other chips beside the prcessor?
i don't think that drivers included in android can cover all chips in hermes. can someone maybe make an list of same and different devices(chips) in this 2 devices?
thanks
G phone?
So this is the same OS that the G phone is sporting yeah?
If The flashing process isn't harder than the current process then I'd be up for this. Also will it brick the phone?
Need some people to test.
Great Topic!
More information about this here:

Since the openmoko is very like the p3600 I will give these patches a try. Let you know!
That would be awesome !
Please tel us your progression.
I'm waiting for a Android ROM for my Trinity ^_^
This is what we can try. The openmoke images are out. Since the openmoke is very like the p3600 we could give these images a try. The images are located over here.

We need haret for the images as well.
http://www.handhelds.org/~koconnor/haret/haret-0.5.2.exe
The thing we also need is to have a proper default.txt for haret. Who can help?
Hi piethein,
This will replace the rom we have installed in the trinity or is like an emulator running under wm ?
We dont loss any wm rom that we have installed ?
Dear all,
here you have some (bad) news:
http://groups.google.com/group/android-porting/browse_thread/thread/906dcae21176d4e9#
at the link above you will find a thread I started in adroid-porting developers group.
http://groups.google.com/group/android-porting/browse_thread/thread/0b3743f8151783f6#
at this link there are other infos, but let me report two msgs:
shaice:
Dear all,
sorry to bother you with (probably) silly questions but..
I own a HTC trinity that use the same ARM920T processor of Freerunner.
I saw benno's and christopher's posts on their blogs...
Is there any chance that your binaries will run on other ARM920T
phones?
Thank you in advance for any answer.
Best regards,
s
Christopher Friedt:
Hi Shaice,
In short, no (for now...)
Chris
sigh sob!
Now I'm searching for some fresh news.
Stay tuned!
s
uhmm reading somewhere in the group I found this post:

The shipping G1s have 192MB. Earlier development devices had 128MB,
and that wasn't quite enough to smoothly run the applications that
ship with the G1. Even if all the device's RAM could be allocated to
Android (no baseband, no framebuffer) 64MB would probably be very
tight, to the point where even foreground applications would risk
getting killed because of low memory conditions (the browser
especially comes to mind). In 32MB the system is likely to be
thrashing for memory even before it's done starting the system server
(if it can even start it at all).
JBQ
Mmmmh no good news for us.. :-/

....but forget about running exactly these images on your trinity units.
It won't work
I don't want to digg your hope but there's a lot to do to make it real.
First:
You'll need a kernel that suits to trinity and offer some features the android OS needs.
Second:
You'll have to modify the image in jffs2 format to get loaded on trinity or build up a tricky environment to mount these image files after booting the kernel.
Have fun!
scholbert
Android on Trinity wanted!!
now that the full Android code is out it's possible!!
we can have Android on Trinity!!
please help... I cannot stand anymore WM!!
IMHO there is no enough memory to run smoothly android on trinity...
but stay tuned..
s
Dear all,
there is no hope for trinity users like us to see android running on our wonderful device.
As stated here:
http://groups.google.com/group/android-internals/browse_thread/thread/788c201e75ca7351
Android don't run on the ARM920T used in Neo1973.
In the following site
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ARM_architecture#ARM_cores there is a table
where are described all the ARM cpu.
Android framework is compiled for the ARMv5 architecture version, so run on
the all the processors that belong to this architecture version and also in
some cpu of the new architecture (ARMv6/v7).
Other information can be found on this site

[Warning]How To differentiate various type of android build?protect our chefs

Firstly, I use WARNING as my title is because, due to the increasing number of android build ready for our lovely users...I think there will be a lot of scamming problems exist...because everyone can steal others' hard work (cooked rom or android build), and then re-upload,and named to their own build...furthermore, they try to ask people to donate...this is really FFS...so I hope we can cooperate to prevent this and hope someone can teach us how to differentiate android build and how it is customized or personalised...
Cheers...look forward to see more awesome builds...and protect chefs' hard work...
Hmmm since android uses the linux file system which is permission based. Would it not be possible to have a file tjat cant be modified without the original owners access. A watermakr or something.

Porting miui/lewa status and hopes toward our dev

Hi Bro & Sis,
Frankly speaking,Im bit confused about MIUI & LEWA OS porting status for our x8 ether its agains of XDA Rules or not.As me understand its like this:
-Porting isnt wrong if somebody do it from own rom resource(based own rom).
-Any tutorial & other source is open to anybody to used it as long as proper credit given.
So,me didnt see any wrong of it and me also wondering are there any of our DEV who has a own rom willing to do it if its legal.
Yes,we have many roms(MIUI & LEWA) out there but its based on somebody else rom which is not promising for development(bug fixing, better performance etc) because as I know beside its remain ori bugs its also bring new bugs & little lag of performance.
If anybody has diff point of view please share it to help me be more clear about regarding issue.
THANKS
Please read here for your reference.
Second, Mod roms will now be placed in the X8 Themes & Apps forum The threads will contain in the OP all the relevant permissions/credits along with links to the original rom thread and provided as a cwm update zip. This decision has been made after consultation with RD's/Developers/Senior members and this is there wishes so respect them

Actually the reason why colossus keep on closing such thread in development its because of the failure to comply this rules. I dont see any hard part in following that rule. Let me simplify.
Now you want to mod or port ROM? Here are some checklist.
1. If you will be using a based ROM. Please make sure you have proper permission from the base ROM developer. THIS IS A MUST.
Now you have permission eh?
So you can start modding/porting the ROM.
What if I didnt get permission?
Dont worry you can still mod/port that ROM but please do not share it here. In short it applies only for personal use.
2. If you already done porting then create a thread in X8 Themes & Apps. If your rom becomes popular and you apply your own fix etc. Then please contact the MOD so that the ROM will be moved to Development Section. (Ofcourse it will still undergo screening if that would fit on the Dev Section.
Now guys what is the hard part understanding those Rules implied?
back to bed zZZzzhh
Deedii,
By your statement,me understand this;
Porting rules is a same as modding/theming rules(must be place in x8 theme sec.)
As I know, this rules is for someone who modding/theming based on others rom because ori Dev usually not modding/theming their own rom & open a new thread.
If they did or add/remove something,we can call it a next updates.
Its make sense if someone porting based on others but how about porting based on own roms?
For example; How about if nAa porting MIUI based on his MiniCM?
Should its must place in theme sec too?
BTW,its help me clear a bit thats porting based on somebody else rom is NOT agains XDA rules if you put in theme sec. with a permission & proper credit.thanks
p/s:sorry if disturb u,its 8.00am in my place when I make this thread
i thinks the miui and lewa os remove because some warez or legal issue.
i agree that we can post rom with permission. but i think that miui os and lewa os is consider as theme bercause based from cm 7.1 or 7.2 etc. lasttime i saw ppl post that lewa os is theme ginger dx , meybe they need get permission.
p/s: something i no understands. for example , if some 1 take minicm7 with permission then add tweak like gps tweaks, bravia, other rom lib etc from other people is consider development??? nowday dev is like zoo many cm 7.1, 7.2
For example; How about if nAa porting MIUI based on his MiniCM?

Ofcourse it will be considered as development. If you based it with your own ROM then there is no issue since its yours. What are you confused about?

As stated no its not. Instead of posting the whole rom you can actually make a flashable zip on that tweak that you want to put.

Hello
I can help by giving some innovative features thought . something like Sony have done. Like stamina mod, xperia theme engine, HTC blink feed, Samsung multi window. Can't help with code.
Sure. We'd love feedback from you and others, but the above incentives are for developers only.
Can we make a OEM rom Sony?
We have kernel sources. ROM related stuff we have xperia e3 stock ROM. Will it possible to port xperia kernel from xperia e3.

He's not talking about porting.............He means build a new ROM from scratch.............With CM as the base
I would recommend a rom name, Boost Rom. Don't know if it has been taken on not. And have the ability for themes as well? I don't know much code but I would like to be of help:0?Of course dev's only but I have some good ideas and I want to learn code. I have started to learn already and I have android studio. So what do you think. Could I give ideas and try to help on not?:|
Good luck anyway:~) Of coarse I will have to learn the basics. But if not I will still hit the thanks button:0 I have always wanted to make roms and be part of something as big as this, please

It was just a suggestion

Most Customs for G800F

, lets be honest: are ****.
Unstable, Buggy and **** like that.
And instead of just complaining about the devs* I want to know the following:
If I want to contribute on the code what do I need to learn? Since a while I'm teaching myself Java and Python via Solo Learn. What would I need to learn to contribute to the Android OS Code itself NOT APPS!!
It will take me months, years I am aware of that. But I'm just tired of only trying different Custom ROMS, only to see that most of them aren't a real alternative of the Stock Roms, without having the possibility to do something about it.
So feed me with some input. What are good sites to learn that?
Happy for your feedback!
*Because damn I know that the Devs are doing an amazing job!
Google is a good start.. that search engine can point you in the right direction ?

It really depends on what you want to do with Android. The upper layers are in Java. The lower layers are in C++ or C. If you want to adjust the stock libs you might have to understand ARM assembler code. Also a basic knowledge of microcontrollers and linux kernel does help (especially if it comes to the graphic and camera subsystems).
There is almost no documentation for Android (the code is the documentation) and the subsystems change from version to version. The best way (and probably only one) to learn Android is hands on. Just try to fix the most annoying bug you encounter. Try to understand how the source-code works. Check how the Java, C++ layers, kernel and the stock libs interact with each other.
Also try to understand the adb logcat output.
Also try to understand the G800F device tree. A first step is also to compile the source yourself.

Dear hennymcc,
it is about your TWRP for G800F.
Everthing is ok, till it comes to a restore of a TWRP backup.
After the restore the S5 Mini is in a bootloop.
I have tried it with the version August 2015 and March 2016.
Is there any solution?
Thank you.
