Having trouble getting Windows to recognize your Evo?

So I traded in my Evo for my fourth one today. I went to root and adb would not recognize it. It would say device not found. So I used the ruu for the stock Rom and started it up. I did not run it completely. I just pulled it up while I ran adb. This fixed the issue and I was able to root without a problem. Just an FYI for those having a problem. I was using Windows 7.

How are you getting all these evos? I have been waiting since day one for radio shack so I can exchange mine... They haven't had any in...

The BB by my house has a ton. They have gotten 2 shipments since release. I guess they are lucky or they are just trying to get rid of 003's. I have not gotten 1 without an issue. Since I am coming up on my 30 days I am going to keep trading them in.

Why would they be trying to get rid of the 003 versions... as far as I know and from experience they are the ones that are perfect...

Then I am the most unlucky Evo owner. I have had three of them all with screen issues. My understanding is that both the 002 and 003 have issues and the next shipment will have the problems worked out.

Can i still root the evo with 2.2

You're lucky your replacement had 2.2! I'm worried now that if i have any trouble with my evo and need to get it replaced or worked on, that it'll end up being updated in the process, and not rootable. I hope that doesn't happen before a new root exploit is found.

You should be good. Just don't accept the OTA.
My buddy just bought a new one Saturday. It was the last one that hadn't been updated yet, in the store!

To all the awesome Fascinate Devs!

Just wanted to say thanks to all the devs for all the hard work and the fun you've givin me with customizing my fassy. I'm switching to the Incredible 2 because of the many issues I've had with the missed calls and bad signal. I was offered the phone brand new free of charge with an extended battery for 42$ and a month of free service. I know it may not be as much fun as the fassy because I don't believe its rooted just yet, but right now i need a phone that has the functionality of a phone. So again, thank you all for the awesome roms/themes/tweaks you've offered and I hope i'll be seeing you all again when the S2 comes out.

no i didnt use an upgrade. this is my 3rd fassy with the same issues. I believe I got extremely lucky.

Nice. I'm gonna have to try that later. Was the phone brand new or a refurbished? You should've asked for a Charge or anything 4g

I might end up exchanging my Fascinate too. My first one had an acore force close loop while this second one has had the status bar burned in.

I believe brand new. i was kinda in shock so I didnt really care to ask but he said it has no battery or back cover so he hooked it up with the extended one for 10 bucks off. and as far as the 4g stuff, none of them interest me.

If it did have a battery or cover, it is refurbished. I was thinking of making the jump to the Dinc 2 as well. Am going to wait for some roms to come out first though.
Oh, and it has achieved S-off, but whoever figured out hasn't released how to to it yet.

So I'm a noob and ain't to proud to say it but I don't know how to root my phone I tried following instructions but obviously I don't how to read or sumthin lol but can anybody help me with this face to face or over the phone I live in Anaheim and if I posted this in the wrong area let me know and ill put it some where else lol reply or message me

Are you on the latest Gingerbread 2.3.3 OTA update? If so, there's no way you can root your phone. I'm also from Anaheim though

No unfortunately there is no way to downgrade to Froyo 2.2 sorry. According to a few posts, Devs are working on acquiring root for gingerbread

Welcome aboard fellow oc'r lol. What you could do is sell Evo on Craigslist. Get 180 for it or so. Then repurchase an Evo on Craigslist. Check it for What rom it has first. Look for 2.2.

I've been doin it all morning pretty funny I've been laughing. Due to the knowledge I learned on these forums today I hit one guy wit a text sayin "yo saw your ad on CL is it running 2.3.3 or 2.2?" His response was "oh its got a 8 gig micro sd card in it way bigger than those 2 put together" Ahahahaha

Lololol yeah I been dealing with same responses about the shift that I wanna get my wife. When I ask if esn is good I get oh yeah and WiFi and you can talk in 4g. Haha. If they're close enough go check out phone before purchasing. Don't take their word for it.

DInc2. A quick search would have provided the answer much faster.

Not a fact.....they the inctedibles in stock. Best way to tell is to file a claim and see what they offer. Mine was. Dinc 2 for 5 days now its an original. Bottom line if they have a incredible that's what you'll get. Changes day to day. Good luck.

What the guy above said. Most are getting The Dinc2 but sometimes you'll get lucky and get the Dinc1 since they seem to be in and out of stock.

Yeah my gf got a Dinc1 not too long ago from them... It could also be a regional thing too. I'm sure she'll be more than happy to trade someone for a Dinc2 though

Not sure I'd really call getting a dinc1 instead of a dInc2 lucky!
