[Q] Wifi Bug in nightly 150 - Nook Color Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I am experiencing a bug in cm7 nightly 150 that wifi will just randomly cut out and when i try to turn it back on it will say scanning and then jump to disconnected. I have not turned on airplane mode and yes i checked android assistant and airplane mode is off. The only way to get it back is to reboot. Is anyone else experiencing this? Any fixes?

Is there one that you would suggest? I need something that's pretty stable.

I went with nightly 157 hopefully I won't have any more problems.

I'm on 151 with no problems. Sometimes deleting all the wifi connections and rebooting solves the issue.

I've been using 150 since released, with no problems at all. Wifi is very stable.

I am on 157 and I am having these same issues. Seems to happen when moving to another network. Looks like once I 'forget' all networks it rescans and finds them again. I only installed CM7 on SD today

Yes, I've only run into that when I switched wifi spots, and not every time.

Lose 3G and have to reboot

Anyone ever have this problem? Ideas to fix it?
What rom are you running? If its a i9k 2.2.1 build you need the signal reboot fix found in the vibrant development section.

I think the problem exists for KB1 based builds as well. Had the issue with Bionix 1.31, Trigger and Axura. Went back to Nero v5 and problem solved. Also, the wifi sleeps even when the option for never sleep is checked. I wonder if it's hardware specific and only affects some phones.

To clarify my previous post: I lost 3g and had to manually reboot to get it back. It didn't reboot on its own like the i9000 builds. I ran 3 different roms from 3 different devs and they all had similar issues. The only common denominator was they were KB1 based. KB1 roms also seem to have RIL issues (very infrequent). At least that was my experience.

Data dropping happened to me a lot in the JK2 modem (had toggle flight mode on and off), but it has never happened to me since (JK6 and onwards)
Are you guys on t mobile? You might want to upgrade your sim card, i just upgraded yesterday and now my connection is more stable.

If data is just dropping and not soft booting, try flashing a new modem.

I dont have this problem but do all the ROMS now say "H" instead of 3G? The weird things is, I still 3g pop back up there intermitently for a second or two here and there...from what I gather, H is the same thing, but if that's so, then why do I still see 3g pop back up there sometimes?
I'm on KB1 and I hate this ****.

I had this problem on Trigger 2.7.1/overstock couldn't reestablish data through airplane or toggling data type. In since flashing 2.7.2 havent had it at all. Fingers crossed. No reboots either. Same kb1 modem.
Don't blame me, blame my keyboard's autocorrection algorithm.
Im going through something similar right now. Running Axura 2.3.1.0 with KB1 modem currently, was on CM7 with KA7 prior and had same issue. I have 0 3G, doing a speed test on 2G i get between 68 and 85kbps download speed, and when on 3G i get between 46 and 60kbps, so actually my 3G is basically dead. Went and got a 3G sim card from t-mobile, called them about 26 times and had them reset my network, filed a trouble ticket and still no dice... not sure whats going on. I was throttled and my cycle restarted on the 21st, its now the 24th and still seems like im throttled but im not, its actually a dead 3G, not sure why... anyone know what i can do to fix this? Is it a bad phone now? T-Mobile doesnt seem to have a clue, nor will they help me out... dunno, tried everything and now im just stuck with no speed... blows!!!

Wifi connection problems after using onavo data monitor app

Last week when the Onavo data monitor app appeared prominently placed on the market home screen I gave it a try.
Unfortunately it created a very annoying bug on my phone running JVU and Semaphore 2.5:
whenever my phone looses it's wifi connection for any reason it will not recognize and connect to available wifi anymore even if placed directly near the router with full signal strength!
The only way to get it connected again is switching wifi off and then on again...
I already uninstalled the app and did a factory reset but nothing changed. Probably it messed up some system files that don't get touched during factory reset.
As I'm in vacation now and don't have my data cable with me to flash a fresh firmware, is there any way to resolve this issue in other means?
Sent from my GT-I9000 using Tapatalk
Nobody here with any idea how to resolve this? It's really annoying as even battery consumption goes up very much when the phone looses wifi and auto connects to 3g.
Sent from my GT-I9000 using Tapatalk
I have no idea about your problem. I also have just installed Onavo on JVU firmware for a couple days, but everything is still ok....
So, I'm thinking the cause is from your router!! Why don't you try another wifi network?
Good luck!! ^^
Sent from my GT-I9000 using xda premium
Thanks for your answer! It doesn't depend on my router. As I said I'm in vacation right now and therefor using many different available hotspots, it happens on all of them... :-(

Any issues with battery drain and onavo? Cause it was sucking mine dry!! I thought it was semaphore's fault (i'm on icssgs 4.2) until i figure it out and uninstalled it. Now it is Almost as prior installing onavo. I have a feeling that it left some garbage behind though.
It definitely left some garbage behind and this thread is about to find out how to get rid of it.
Battery drain was and unfortunately still is very high on my device thanks to the non desired 3g connection instead of wifi...
Sent from my GT-I9000 using Tapatalk
Try to flash a new kernel again. It may help you updating some files that control wifi.
I used onavo for couple of days, battery drains. Its functions already in ICS roms, Less but good.

Anyone else having wifi connection issues with 4.2.1?

I only got my n7 a couple of weeks ago and almost immediately updated to 4.2. I didn't notice any issues. Immediately after the 4.2.1 update I keep getting random connection issues. I have to turn wifi off and on to resolve it.

I had the issue.. 32gb version in the US with the sep build. I actually had it prior to to 4.2.1. I ended up going into advanced properties and changing wifi to always on. Drains battery, but fewer need to turn wifi off and back on.

Yes. I have WiFi disconnects and random reboots since the new update .

I use WiFi Fixer downloaded from Google Play. When the connection is dropped it automatically reconnects after a second or two.

No wifi internet / e-mail / notifications after 4.2.1
I am having a similar issue. Stock Nexus 7, never rooted, installed the 4.2.1 update when it was pushed. Since then I can connect to wifi connections but there is no internet access. While the icon in the upper right has small flashing arrow like data is being sent back and forth, the icon remains gray and no internet-requiring services on the tablet work. I've tried everything that I (and Google Play and Asus support) could think of with no luck.
The only thing they could come up with at the end was to restore the tablet to factory settings. Unfortunately I have application data that I need to back up that I can't access by accessing the internal storage using my laptop (I'm stock, remember?).
So I'm between a rock and a hard place here. Anyone have any suggestions? It was very frustrating when the Asus representative suggested I use the built-in backup and restore feature:
Me: "That requires internet access to work right?
Asus representative: "Oh....right..."
My Wi-Fi on both my Nexus 7's is very slow. They stay connected fine but I'm getting about 150kbps download speeds. I factory reset one of them to no prevail. Anyone have any insight on this or heard of others with this issue? All my other devices work fine on the same Wi-Fi connection and I tried turning everything else off so just the Nexi where connected to see if the speeds are faster, but they aren't. I'm stock on both devices and both are the 16gb version, one older than the other.

Known issue. I logged a bug with Google and there's actually several open bugs reporting wifi issues. So far, none of the bugs are being picked up by google officially.

I've tried this same thing, and as soon as I installed 4.2, WiFi went to sh**. Completely stock.
So turning wifi off then on seems to be the generally excepted quick fix?

Or use Static IPs. That solved it for me. I had to ask my company to provide a reservation for my MAC Address. It's like back in the 90s when Wifi started coming out using the BellLabs/Lucent chipset.

[Q] can't connect to WiFi running newest liquid smooth rom

As I put in the topic, I'm running the newest liquid smooth build on my N10. Everything is running really great on it, but I can't connect to WiFi at all? Sorry for posting this here but I'm a noob and can't post in the dev forums yet. Any help would be greatly appreciated considering my tablet is useless without WiFi!

Some wifi problems are inherent to 4.2. But if wifi doesn't turn on immediately after flashing any rom, usually a reboot cures it. Before rebooting tho, try cycling Airplane mode on/off.

I've already tried rebooting several times. I even booted into recovery and wiped everything again and reflashed the Rom. Still no WiFi? I've never had a problem with it on stock or cm10.1

I never had wifi issues with my N10 until I decided to give Liquid's newest build a try. I tried all the tricks - reboots, toggling airplane mode, even started from scratch and reflashed the entire ROM but had no luck. Sometimes it would connect for a moment, but then would immediately disconnect. As soon as I returned to my latest backup (Steve Spear's AOKP pub builds), and even since trying other ROMs I've had no wifi issues. I'm saying with 100% certainty there's a problem with Liquid's ROM, but it sure seems that way to me.
Maybe redownload the ROM and start over (perhaps something got messed up while downloading). That's the one thing I never tried as I got tired of monkeying around with it.

Would you mind posting the link to that ROM? I don't have time to mess around with issues and need a solid and fast daily driver. I use autocad on my N10 for work so I'm needing this resolved badly!
