Streaming Media Player - Gen8 General

Hi,
what app do you use to view videos on Dailymotion/MTV/... ? On my HTC I use "Streaming Media Player" (seems to be a HTC app). I tried arcDownload so far, but it is not so good. VPlayer and Rockplayer doesnt seem to stream.
What do you guys use?
Regards

I use stock player. Like it the best so far.

Stock player for MTV??

I don't go and stream from MTV, but if you are referring to MTV/ontv - then i checked, it streams no problem. Dolphin HD to mtv website and then just click on video to start playing. Maybe i did'nt understand the question.

Thank you, I will try Dolhin HD. My problem is, that there is no special player opening for Flash (.flv) video. It is embedded on the site and very slow. Its faster in a standalone player.

upnplay works best for me! Also for streaming stuff from XBMC

When I'm at home, i just stream stuff from my PC with Estrong File Manager via SMB, but still use the stock player.

The installed video player

I've been searching for a great video player for the TMO TP2 but some don't do it for me. Is there a way to set the installed video player that plays the Youtube to play all video including streaming. It might not have all codes to handle every media type but maybe there is a hack or cab to solve this waste of a great player.
Yea i love that player too. the only way i can watch the movies on my media card with that player is by going into the media album and when i open a video from there it uses the youtube player. would love to watch streaming videos with it as well.
How do I get to the other video player? Everytime I open a video file it opens with wmp. Ive been searching for a free good video player to play all my files.

Watching FLV video in IE instead of opening steaming media player

Does anybody know how to setup our IE so that it will not trigger streaming media player, and load the flash video inside IE instead?
I know that even someone can did this, IE still cannot support youtube in desktop website (which is Flash 10 content). But, in some occasions, playing flash video directly in the broswer will be very handy.
Thanks
youtube in IE works fine here, embeded youtube vids too, I've never seen it open streaming video player for flv

Default media player won't stream large files?

Hi guys,
I'm having some problems trying to play the website iphone anime. It streams just fine on the iphone and the encoding is mp4, so that should be ok. I can only download the files and then play it, I cannot stream it. I've been trying to change the default player but I can't seem top do so. Any our ideas?
Just tried with Meridian and get the error message about "streaming to this device", might be a 1.6 issue.
can somebody test this in 2.1

If you have trouble streaming .mp4 files it may be becasue you have uninstalled mediascape. I found that i couldnt stream .mp4 any more after i uninstalled mediascape & MediaPluginManager.apk, one quick reinstallation using adb later and its all working again.
i never touched mediascape so it isnt that. Try websites like this... http://iphoneanime.net, http://mediamp4.com ,http://iphonehentai.com/ and play any of those listed movies. They are all in mp4 format (great sites by the way for movie buffs who love to watch streaming videos)
I never was able to get them working while i was on 1.6 and after 2.1 the default player still says unable to load file. I then tried Vplayer (awesome, get it from the market) and now i am able to stream 50% of the movies on these websites. I think it has to do with the native streaming support of the base player. it just isnt any good......

[Q] Best way to watch videos from a windows share?

I have a network share on my win7 machine that has videos in divx and xvid.
What is the best way for me to access those files from my tf101 so I can watch them directly from the pc without copying it onto tf101 first?
Also, what media player could play them?
Thanks
I was just messing around but I watched vids from my TF that were located on my laptop via the "my cloud" app on the TF....it's the sub app called "splashtop" and it worked just fine....
upnplay app with moboplayer. Set up media streaming in windows7's media player. There should be instructions if you Google it.
Ive used plex and it seemed to play most of my videos fine.

This is the combo I use and it works a charm, however plex, splashtop etc will work also. Try them all because its down to preference...

here's another discussion on the topic. B-)

Very few videos will play correctly due to honeycomb issues, but cifs works well. I suppose you could set up real time transcoding if you had a comp with enough power. Includinb dgnvdec somewhere in the decoding chain would work well for those with nvidia cards - as that would perform all resizing/decoding/deinterlacing via gpu, freeing up cpu to handle the smaller encode. I'm pretty sure the default movie player can handle many different transports.
File Manager HD can be networked with your home network and then I stream and play with Moboplayer. Works pretty good.
Plex will play videos that won't stream, like FLV files.
Splashtop will play netflix but with crappy quality.
UPNPlay has the best quality since it plays the original file but only the standard formats like avi and MPG.
I ran them directly using es viewer

seems like it has to load the whole video before u can "stream" it??? takes a long time to serve up a 2gb file
Has anyone found a good way to play ogm files?

how ??
tried that and it says no player (i have moboplayer etc installed). if i then choose 'open as' and video is starts copying the whole file across ??
File Manager HD downloads the whole file, it doesn't support streaming AFAIK.
I use GMote and Moboplayer (for vids). Audio can be played directly in GMote. Works great.
Whats the best way to steam? Both ES and FileHD makes me download to cache which defeats the purpose of networking. If I use N speed would the download be faster?

Plex will actually only transcode if it needs to, if it doesn't it'll simply stream the original media AFAIK. I use it and love it. It's probably one of the easiest ways to get this set up, especially if you want remote access from outside of your intranet.
For .mpeg/avi streaming:
File Expert -> Dolphin Browser HD -> VPlayer
Can use MoboPlayer or RockPlayer instead of VPlayer, but seeking with VPlayer is better imho. Other file types may work...
mounted my network share in CIFS and play natively with mobo.... for the files that aren't supported by hardware playback, you can long press the file in mobo and use software decoding.
what is CIFS?

Streaming Video to the GT....

I normally stream content to my PS3 via TVerstiy or WMP. If I want to send it to my phone, it's as simple as entering URL (http://xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx:41952) on Vplayer. For some reason, it's just not working for me on the GT. Not sure why.
Who is streaming and what clients are you using on both ends? How are the results? Any cloud based solutions for video? It seems everything is all about music.... Meh, I prefer my Zune HD for music.
Edit* Actually, streaming works perfect going through the built in web browser. Files that my phone would stutter with, play perfectly with either the stock honeycomb player or Vplayer just by adding a /medialib/browse after the address and port. Nice!
I've been using Plex with great results.
I forgot about Plex. I may check that out. I used to use Orb and the quality sucked so bad that I was a little cautious about anything other than TVersity.
I wish Plex supported Hulu.
I've been using PS3 Media Server with uPnPlay (free from market) with decent results.
Its been working fine with avi and mpeg, but the tab has a lot of trouble playing back mkv files. I haven't tried adjusting the settings from what I normally use when streaming to my PS3, so it may be possible to get better results with some tweaking.
