Love my WP7 HD2, but I'm looking for a simpler WP7 phone for the Wife

For the holidays I want to get my wife a GSM WP7 phone, but I don't think the HD2 is the right choice for her. Don't get me wrong, I love using my HD2 running WP7, but she isn't as tech savvy as I am.
For the price, I think the HTC Mozart might be the best bet. Newegg is currently selling them for $279 with free shipping. The LG Optimus 7 is the only other WP7 phone with a cheaper price tag, but they don't seem to be built as well as the Mozart. Before I bought my HD2 I purchased 2 LG Optimus 7's and had to return them because the hardware buttons were very flimsy.
Seems like the HTC Mozart is the best WP7 phone for my wife.
What do you guys think?
good choice go with it. or wait till the Nokia Lumia 601 comes out.

Thats probably a better idea, if time permits that is, be a shame to get a device thats effectively being replaced in a few weeks
If you want a simple WP7(stable, fast, smooth, etc...), do not choose HD2 ^^
I went ahead and ordered the mozart. I wasn't sure if it was a good buy, but now I see that Newegg is out of stock after I presumably ordered the last one. I guess I got a pretty good deal.

Pretty Rare UK Smartphones

Just saw a site that has stock of both the Nokia N9 and HTC HD2s. They're both pretty hard to find in the UK, especially for bulk buying anyway.

[Q] Is this price possible?

I am really big fan of HTC HD2, but I still get tired with my old Omnia i900. Yesterday searching the Internet I found HD2 in very strange price - 567 PLN (about 185 USD). And my question is: should I try and buy this one or look for any more expensive? Should I trust this seller?
As device is 4yrs old that price is possible for old stock, I buy them around 90USD for 100% working clean examples with void stickers still present ...
Hm... I forgot to write it's completely new. So it is really, really strange.
I can buy new old stock for about same here in Thailand, seems about right to me. At HD2s age you get no HTC warranty & it is old hat hardware by today's standard, they need clear them & HD2 demand is not so high these days so prices have fallen.
So do you think I should buy this one?
No idea as not seen the retailers details, if has some form of buyer protection & return policy then might be worth it as buying used HD2's is only good if can be hands on with device prior to purchase as eBay etc are full of the sh1te used devices.
I sure would not want spend more on a new old stock 4yr old handset with known digitiser & bga failings.

I am not recommended you to buy this. Because i think it also old. You did not get same version from old version...
You'll try to buy an used item on ebay.. it's an old funny phone.. but I bought a Nexus 4 for that price!
great post

i am wondering anybody is still using this device today
I have still 2 HTC HD2 at home.
At the one the screen is broken and in the other the mainboard seems to have a problem.
Actually i wanted to join them. But since i have a Moto G, the HD2 is nearly completly out of my Head.
But i had really nice 4 years with this device.
Do you really want to spend this much money on such a old device?
I don't know. I would really recommend you not to do that.
If you are a dev, then it is maybe ok, but as a simple user...?
I think the times are nearly over or not? But if your money is falling out of your pocket
As i said did not follow HD2 since 5 months. I would reccomend you to buy a Brand new Moto G.
Google converted middel class Hardware phones to low class price phones. Excellent!
looks like a used phone to me.

HTC HD2s available cheap on eBay right now

Hey, so this is just a heads up. You can buy an allegedly "Manufacturer refurbished" US T-Mobile HTC HD2 from some guy on eBay for $24.99 shipped right now. He seems to have almost 100 of them so this seems like a great opportunity to pick up extra HTC HD2s for cheap if you need them.

You can also buy a new Unlocked European HD2 from guys in Hong Kong for $74.00
