Does anybody have Skype working on their phone without the rotation problem
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA Premium App

Video works for me when I tested it against my laptop at home. However, when I talk to my friend in Japan, we can only use voice, video doesn't work, maybe she's using the Mac or the Internet speed is too low.

Are you guys using FFC mod?

Video Calling

How does it work with the Epic? Can you initiate a video call straight from the dialer? A lot of phones my friends would get unlocked from europe all had front facing cams. Like the e75 i think.
Or is video calling only available with qik? Yuk.

Only works through Qik I think.
Fring works well. You have to initiate within the fring app but since it runs in the background you can always receive. Qik never works for me.

I was not able to video chat with aim or google talk... it said it was not supported..
for those of you that have had issues with qik for the epic, the fix is to goto the app store and download qik for htc evo. This came from there help desk.
Out of the box qik would always force reset on me, sometimes it would work for outgoing vid connect but for the most part it would always crash when accessing the address list or imitating a call.
They suggested the build for the evo since you can not remove the bundled version. Well it worked and it seems much more snappy.
I've searched like mad, and I haven't found any way to video chat with any PC clients, especially Skype. If anyone finds one, let me know, but as far as my knowledge goes there's no way to video chat with users of anything besides Fring and Qik, which makes it nearly useless to me.
Try using Tango

Google Talk video chat

Was anybody successful using video chat in Talk when calling a user at a PC with webcam? Meaning NOT Xoom to Xoom?
I've tried calling my wife when she was in gmail (on PC with webcam), but can't seem to show my ugly face to her.
I have done this with no issues. The other person was on windows, using chrome at the gmail web site
I have done gtalk video as well. Xoom to Mac.
Worked great for me xoom to win7 using gmail on pc

+1 but have only used calling my wifes SgS2
Well, Skype was just purchased by Microsoft for 8.5 Billion, so lets see what happens to Skype having FFC support for Android... If its on the roadmap, it will still see the light of day but for how long until M$ starts to mess with Skype?
Are you guys calling other SGSII only?

I used qik and called my friend on his iphone 4
And I am sure you looked Crystal Clear while he looked "OK"...
Does anyone know of an Android video chat app that can connect to Live Messenger / Video Kinect? I'd really like to try video chatting with my daughter through the Xbox once I get the SGS2.

Fring works brilliantly for me

Best video chat service?

Tango works perfect for my droid x, but requires a number for the galaxy tab so, what is the best one for the 10.1 it has the best ff camera out of all the other phones and tablet but I don't know what service to use

I may be wrong, but I think the only functioning video chat program as of right now is Google chat... until someone mods the Skype app to work with the tab, I think your options are pretty limited.
My wife and I use Fring on our tabs (10.1 &7"). Works great.

Not unless you find an app that supports it, video calling of any kind is not natively supported by the os
Don't know about new roms but existing firmwares already manage it with the latest Skype from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1148708 or from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1153285 does it. They are moded versions of the most recent Skype release on the Market.

I wasnt refering to skype, my carrer gives me 500 video call minuter per month. I was talking about normal 3G video calling, made like an usual phone call.

Maybe samung built it into there version of the os, what i mean is, stock android has no video calling ability, infact 2.3.4 will be the first version of android that supports video calling, through gtalk

Try a video calling app called TANGO. It works perfectly with the PLAY, back AND front cam...great quality.
It integrates itself into the android "dialer" kind of and syncs all of your contacts. You can call a computer also in addition to a phone.
I used it to call an ex-gf on her samsung infuse (at&t)
worked FLAWLESSLY
(its free)
Tryed skype, it's awsome Thx 4 the help.

Sometimes it doesn't work, if you call someone on your list you will hear a ring tune from your phone but on his/her phone it's not ringing.. Vice versa..
Sometimes also headphone feature are not working, and there is a scratching sound that is so annoying..
According to the SE facebook this morning, the new Skype update supports video calling over 3G on the Play.
