New EVO batterys ? - EVO 4G General

Is Sprint sending out better batterys in replacements EVO
Cause I'm getting like 14 - 16

Check the battery and see if its a 1500MaH...I think I may have heard they were, but I could be mistaken. Also your type of usage varies the battery life.

They have the same batteries which are 1500mah.
things that could be getting you better battery are
-Updates like 2.2 and 2.3 which improve performance and battery life.
-New battery, yes batteries get worn after a number of charging cycles.
-bad battery with your old phone.
-your old battery wasn't properly calibrated.
I'm rocking the sprint 2600mah battery they sell at the store, end up at 40% by the end of the day.(got it free) unplug at 5:30 am and plugs back in at 10pm every day.
That is with 10-15 phone calls, maybe 30mins-1hr browsing the web, 15-20 text messages and two hours of pandora along with 30mins of gaming( slice it and pew pew). With the stock battery I always ended up needing juice by 12pm. (On 3g, MAX brightness and 2 email accounts checking every 30minutes I think)

What's the bigger battery that you can have with a stock back cover?

They do make batteries claimed to be 1900 mAh that fit in the Evo. In fact they're exactly the same size. Since a battery's capacity is linked pretty directly to its size, the general consensus is that the battery's ratings are being inflated. But having said that, a new battery will perform better than an old one (making it hard to compare if you're replacing an older OEM one), and they may even be somewhat better than a comparable stock battery. It just isn't likely to give you the expected percentage difference between a 1500 and a 1900 mAh battery.

I got them from here. It was a little bit thicker than the 1500mah but the back still snaps on fine. Noticed a bit more life but nothing to blow ya over.

Has anyone seen battery life improvement with a Seidio battery?

Was thinking about getting the Seidio Innocell 1600mAh Slim Extended Life Battery. Wanted to know if anyone thought it was worth it?
I just ordered mine last night after Froyo killed my battery life. I'll keep you updated how it works when I get it
Ok thanks, please do. Looking to get it for exact same reason.
100mah isn't worth getting another battery, IMO, unless you just want a second battery. that's such an insignificant amount of additional stored energy, I doubt you will see much improvement, unless your current battery was starting to fail.
just my 2 cents.
Just got my Seidio in the mail yesterday. It is slightly larger than the stock battery and the rear cover is a little tougher to get on. When I say tougher i mean you just have to move around the phone and snap in every section with your fingers. If you stare hard enough, you can see a slight bulge where the battery is. As far as the battery life, so far it's only been on a couple hours in the morning and does seem slightly better. It seems like it might be about 5% better than it was before. They also say that it should get a little better after 5-6 charges so we will see. I doubt I will see a huge increase, but when your battery sucks, every little bit helps
I got the seidio 3000mah battery and love it!! The back plate isn't bad at all (proportional wise) and it gives me a good 2 solid 10 hour days of heavy data/phone use without the need to charge.

Secondary battery

Has anyone tried buying a non official battery for their MS2 and care to comment or recommend any? Im going on holiday to france and i know my phone wont last a whole day without charging, so I was thinking of buying a second battery.
I read in another forum that using a non-Motorola battery displays some kind of warning. I'd go with an original battery.

using a non-original battery could have detrimental effects on your phone. there was a discussion on this on the forum of another phone. using a non-original battery could lead to leaks and other problems which would eventually lead to the warranty of your phone being voided.
stick with original motorola products. yes the battery might be very underpowered, but its the safest bet to ensure the longevity of ur phone
With a non original battery, the battery indicator of your phone shows a interrogation symbol. Also, it does not charge with the phone charger.
Sorry my analphabet english xD
@Motorola Milestone 2
bp7x 2300mAh battery
I 'm using a non-original battery . The MOMAX and everything's good ,it feels just like the original one except for battery tempperature sensor. the temp is always 26 in celsius
I personally have used seidio for my milestone and it works like a charm, its the extended 2800mah one it really performs like it should and not like how a lot of people claim thats its way less than stock! It does not always read it correctly but a quick reboot fixes that, like 50% after reboot would usually be about 70-80%. They way i used to use my phone (light to moderate level) would last about 2-3 days but after the extended I got twice that and some more. Just make sure you get stuff from the original manufactures either way and don't go for deals at amazon or whatnot as those guys might be selling either defected or not proprely stored stuff. Batteries are critical components don't go cheap on them! And no, my phone has not been messed up or had any leaks or anything and I have this for about 3-4 months now. The original battery degraded in about 6months if you have to compare.
That sounds promising, does the battery need to be charged with an external charger? And does the milestone complain that you are not using the official bettery

reebooting your phone to get the exact picture also works on the standard battery. my question is, does the back part which houses the battery heat up when used? does the phone get hot during charging? do you need a new battery cover for it? and besides the longer usability, have you noticed any other performance issues on the phone?

Actually the rebooting to get the exact picture is not the same here, a jump to 20-30% on a stock battery? I don't think so. No I never encountered any odd behavior with the other battery. No getting extra hot during charge or use, get the typical little bit of heat while using 3G and browsing like mad but that would happen on the stock battery too. Battery cover for a 2800? of course, that stuff is huge! its protrudes like mad! a quick heads up though, the extended battery for the milestone 1 and 2 can use the same extended batteries. Don't know about the droid x though. Anyways, no performance issues, no heat while charging. The back covers supplied by these after market guys are not the best quality though so if you are someone who loves dropping phones and what not would recommed getting a spare back cover from the guys you get the batts from.

No, I use my original charger and no complains or warnings by the phone. Not on the milestone 1 at least. In fact some times i use my ipod's adapter so no big issue. And it charges at the same pace as the stock, additional 1 hour or whatever. restart the phone to getting a proper reading as it shows 100% but upon restart its 70-80% since only the stock level is charged. I hear this app called battery left does great for calibration.
ALSO a thing to note, I only know of Seidio and Mugen to be relialbe after market battery guys hence their hefty pricing at times. The others claiming to have bigger batteries have cheated people with stickers and what not and usually end up underperforming and degrading considerably faster than burning paper! I remember 1USD batteries for nokias back in the day good for a quick one time run i suppose but these 1USD guys are now selling them with a better branding for like 20-40 USD.
Anyways Sedio and Mugen have facebook profiles and keep people posted on the latest on devices usually there, although its kind of sad since seidio have not followed through promised products at times.

Cool but as I suggested try and get them off the manufactures themselves as I have noticed some people complaining when purchased via 3rd party retailers.
Also another bud of mine had picked up one for the Nexus one, that phones back cover is a full one unlike the moto's and he too can vouch for the products positive performance. Either ways also check out some reviews from amazon.com for peace of mind.

After my first day of use I got around 11 hours of use before reaching 5%. Here are the usage statistics at 15%
https://picasaweb.google.com/105351366297036719015/DropBox?authkey=Gv1sRgCJna6ZH6hLKxzQE
Wifi was on most of the time, I was using my phone for the usual things. Occasionally checking socialfeeds, engadget, xda every hour or so and internet browsing I played 10 minutes of angry bids. Updated some apps and downloaded a few new ones.
Overall not a significant increase in battery life maybe an hour or so more from what I am used to.

Looks like the one I got off e-bay for $21 that came with an extra data cable. I use my phone differently everyday but certainly seems to get double stock battery life. It works well. This is the one I got:

Its due to the fact that android's battery meter is more of a demand meter, so if you don't run it all the way down the first couple times it won't read remaining battery life correctly and try to make you charge when you're at h alf battery.
See threads about calibrating battery.
Hrm. I've had a 3500mah + extended back cover for several weeks now as purchased off eBay. This was before I knew about the wonders of Juice Defender and custom roms that helped increase battery life. This was when I was getting a few mere hours out of the stock battery before needing to charge.
Anyhow, the 3500 did increase life. I'd say it doubled it. After I found out about JuiceDefender, I only stayed with the 3500 for about two days before I reverted back to the stock battery. With JD, I can easily get all day out of the stock battery. It's amazing.
I just took the cover off the 3500 to see if I have two 1200's or two 1500's sandwiched together. I took the end cap off and indeed there are two cells laying on each other, but don't want to disassemble any further. Battery is a nice spare to have.

For a twenty percent boost get the battery for the epic touch. Fits the OG epic just fine without changing battery cover. Might be able to sweet talk a sprint store into giving you one free if you go and complain about battery life and they happen to have one in the back from a returned ET. Battery looks the same, is slightly heavier and has 1800 mah stamped on it.
Sent from my SPH-D700 using XDA App
I have it and really dont notice too much diff under regular use. Mine was like $12, so it just makes for a spare that came in handy several times.
I bought a pair of the 8$ 3500's off ebay and a 4$ wall charger. Phone will do 48 hours with light use. When I get a new game I can blow through one while charging the other.
So far, after a full charge and battery wipe, my battery life on cyanogen7 is as epic as my epic. Definitely notice a difference from the 1800mah to the stock 1500mah battery.

I've noticed a pretty nice improvement from the 8 dollar one on ebay, I wouldn't say double either, but may 60 to 70 percent. I have been tweaking things for battery life recently, so that might be another thing that helps.
I am a pretty light user, I don't play games. On midNIGHT ROM 5.3 I went 6 days between charging. Of course that is with everything you can turn off; off.
Then I decided; why did I pay this money for this phone to use it like an old samsung a05?? (ok dated myself there).
I usually get 3-4 days texting, phone calls, weather updates, emails and poking around on the market.
randomrom rocks for excellent battery life.

Super battery drain - Radio?

So ever since I rooted and installed a new ROM from here, I've noticed that my battery has been getting eaten like candy on Halloween.
Battery life with no calls and doing nothing with the phone but turning on the screen for a few seconds at a time: 12-16 hours. On such light usage days, the main battery drainers in Android's Battery display are Cell standby and Phone idle.
At one point I had a fully charged phone that I took off the charger when I got a call. The call finished between 45 minutes and an hour later and my battery read about 13%. Most recently I got a call with 55% battery and my phone shut down mid-call about 20 min later.
Any time I take a call my battery seems to get hit hard now.
Lately, when I try to use the cell data network when not on the charger, I will very quickly get a hard battery shut down regardless of how much battery is left. The phone will then refuse to boot completely until I put it on the charger.
I've tried flashing the latest Radio from the thread in Android Development (I was just on the stock one before) but that doesn't seem to have affected this issue.
The ROMs I have used are AOKP Insomnia, CM9: Operation Inferno, and Zipsnet's Creamed Glacier.
If anyone has any ideas on debugging this, I'm open to suggestions. I'm thinking I'll try and flash back to the stock ROM to see if I can rule out a wonky battery in general.
Its probably the battery, I remember having my battery drain like crazy until I changed the battery...if it comes down to it being a bad battery I would recommend the Anker 1700 mAh batteries on amazon...2 batteries for 15 bucks plus a charger and I think free shipping as well.
