Conflicting firmware upgrade information from kies - Galaxy Tab General

I'm getting conflicting information from kies about firmware update availability. A popup message appears saying the firmware is ready to be upgraded. I then start kies and plug in my tab, and I am told I already have the latest firmware.

Bought my tab in Dubai airport, but live in New Zealand and am using it with Vodafone New Zealand. I switched from XSS to XSG from *#272*imei# menu.
*#1234# reports:
PDA: P1000JPJM5
PHONE P1000JXJM2
CSC: P1000OJPJM6
Firmware version: 2.2
Kernel version: 2.6.32.9 [email protected] #1
Any ideas? I'd like to upgrade to gingerbread when it's available, but can't use custom firmware as it's a work phone. Do you think switching back from XSG to XSS might help?

Mine too was bought in dubai.I have since flashed the Asian froyo and now it has been updated to the latest gingerbread thru kies. I read somewhere that there are issues with the Middle Eastern/Arabic region with android that needs to be resolved before an upgrade is officially issued.
Since your tab is a work device and I assume you are ok with it then there is no solid reason to get gb by flashing with all the risks. But if you think you can go thru the steps in flashing then go ahead and follow the steps here in this forum.
Good luck!

[Q] Can't flash stock

Hi,
Recently, a relative of mine purchased an Unlocked AT&T S4 from a local shop here in Canada. I found a bunch of bloatware from AT&T and some of the settings on the AT&T are different from what I have here on Rogers. Since he has the SGH-i337, I figured I can flash the Rogers SGH-i337M ROM no problem. I attempted to do through Odin, but I keep getting this message on the phone:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",

"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
and I get this message on the computer:
What can I do so I can get the Rogers ROM onto his phone?
Android Version: 4.3
Baseband version: I337UCUEMK2
Build number: JSS15J.I337UCUEMK2
Thanks
Even though you live in Canada still doesn't mean anything even if you get it to “unlocked" because unlock means SIM UNLOCK. He has the i337 “at&t US version" Only the i337m “canadian variant" will only be able to flash Canadian ROMs unless he has the phone on MDL baseband or a Google edition phone. The boot loader is locked on the i337 so there is no way you can flash anything besides the stock Rom that comes with it... However if he's on MDL baseband he can flash most whatever he likes if it is mf3-mk2 you need to look into safestrap. Do more reading and researching before your friends phone turns into a paperweight.

Difference between L720VPUGOD2 and L720VPUFNG2

Hey guys i recently updated my s4 to the new OTA lollipop and it came with so many issues that it basically rendered my phone useless. I looked at the baseband version and it says "L720VPUFNG2," when I looked up the update version on google it comes up as "L720VPUGOD2."
Just curious what the difference is between the two. I am hoping that maybe the OD2 version would solve my issues with the phone. Otherwise I will be downgrading for now.

OD2 is Lollipop, NG2 is KitKat, and because the baseband is still NG2 I am guessing something went wrong with the update. I would Odin the OD2 tar. By the way, DON'T TRY TO DOWNGRADE YOUR FIRMWARE. You can flash older ROMs but do not try to Odin an older version.

What firmware code for 900F ANG2 to lollipop

Hi, I have an S5 with standard 4.4.1 G900FXXU1ANG2 and is unbranded and factory unlocked and bought outright.
What firmware do i need to download to update to lollipop? I'm worried i will flash the wrong file and break it.
Thanks for any help.
G900FXXS1BPCL is the latest Lollipop firmware for the G900F BTU
Sammobile .com firmware section, search for G900F and your region in the dropdown, latest build at the top
Are you sure? I checked what you said on that site and comes up with the following....
2016-04-25
Kenya
5.0
G900FXXS1BPCL
G900FOJV1BOF1
Im UK
Why did you pick Kenya if you're in the UK?
Yes I'm sure, choose United Kingdom (BTU)

Ah ok, no, just search your model S5 (G900F) then dropdown for your region and carrier, or unbranded which is BTU
Another way to find the latest (And way faster than sammobile) is this tool

Firmware and CSC mess

Hello
I have a Samsung Galaxy S8 that is stuck at December 2017 security patch. The phone is un-tampered.
This is information taken from Phone Info App
Product Code: SM-G950FZKAROM
Original CSC: blank
Firmware CSC: blank
Active CSC: ROM
CSC Country: Romania / RO
Checking the CSC information in Settings > Software information under Service Provider SW ver. I get ROM/ROM/DBT
Current firmware: G950FXXU1AQL5/G950FOXM1AQL5/G950FUUX1AQL5
From my knowledge it seems I have a phone mean for the German market, with a German firmware build, that has CSC locked to Romania, the country where I purchased it.
I am not receiving any OTA updates. The Smart Switch application under Windows tells me I am at the latest software version.
Is there any way of getting updates the "legit" way?
I managed to tamper with the traffic Smart Switch generates and replaced the CSC code it sends to the update servers from ROM to DBT and somehow tricked it to fetch me and update (see image). Is it safe to apply this update?
