Problems with web browser - Galaxy Tab 10.1 General

Not sure if it just me... Since the Touchwiz update I semi to get lots of glitches when browsing web pages... Strangely the problems happen both in stock browser and dolphin hd
1 - often get message that there is a problem with certificate and tipically then if it is a purchase or something following a login then it gets stuck on the page
2 - stalls on random pages... Click on a link and page don't open
3 - can enter information in forms but just some fields...
4 - often can't open hotmail
5 - lots of little issues in facebook.
Etc. Small things but irritating as i had to pull out my pc to complete operations... Even stranger as my android phone never had these kind of issues...
Anybody else with these issues?
Any tips?

the browser crashes when clicking on pull down menu!

I had alot of problems as well including syncing bookmarks. Going into applications and clearing defaults and data seemed to reset the browser for me and haven't had any issue since.

Did anyone notice that if you download a file it shortens the name?
For example when downloading pershoot's kernels this "boot-cm_2636.4_ux-oc-xtra-vfpv3-d16_fp-080911.zip" becomes "boot-cm_2636.zip". Might not see like an issue but if you are downloading the ux version and the non ux there is no way to tell which is which unless you remember which one you download first because the second one will be named "boot-cm_2636-1.zip"

My experience with Xoom stock browser.
I had most of these problems on 3.0.1. With 3.1 update things got better, but still had some problems. I haven't had any problems on 3.2. I set flash On demand, this also helped a little. These seem to be general problems with HC stock browser.

Thanks - at least looks like it might get better as they push out updates to HC - mind you probably Samsung is not going to be in any hurry to do update....

I'd say these issues are not normal, so it's worth trying various things to fix them - I'd start with the already-mentioned clearing of app data, then perhaps a factory reset.
My browsing experience with the 'new' browser that came bundled with the TW update has been nothing but a spectacular improvement. Having flash on-demand and an ad blocking hosts file may also help.

Maybe not relevant, but I read elsewhere that Dolphin is just a front end or skin over the stock browser framework. If true, that might explain why you have the same problem in both. Maybe try Opera and see if it does the same thing?

New browser is incredibly fast and reliable.
Clear your browser's app data in Manage Applications.

Obnoxious browser issue "Problem with file"

I'm having only one serious problem with my Vibrant, and while it's a little problem, it's frequent enough that it is driving me nuts, and also doesn't allow me to use (at least) one of the apps I use every day.
The issue is, when I go to some web sites, whether in the stock browser, or in another browser, like Skyfire, or whether it's in the browser within an app (for example NewsRob articles) I get a psuedo-crash where it opens the stock browser and says:
In a pop up box: "Problem with file The requested file was not found. webkit/"
In the browser window itself: The Web page at file://android asset/webkit/ could not be loaded as: The requested file was not found. webkit/
In the address bar: the same url as above.
If I hit back a couple times, it will take me back to whatever content I am looking at. But this is incredibly annoying when it's half the articles I'm trying to go through on NewsRob, or when I click certain links and it comes up and I have to hit back a few times before I can look at the page.
I have noticed the following:
- it seems to happen on pages that use Flash, it might be javascript as well, but I'm not sure. HOWEVER, disable plug-ins and javascript in the browser setting does not change the error from happening.
- thinking that it has to do with Flash, I looked into it more on the device. I noticed in Applications, it shows Flash listed, as well as Pineone Flash lite" so I don't understand what level of flash the phone has.
- I also noticed that (coming from a Nexus One and myTouch Slide) I don't see thumbnails for a lot of flash video content like on those devices. If I got to sites with Flash content that is not a video, it's just not there.
Anyway, if anyone knows how to fix this, I'd be much obliged.
I searched google and found almost NOTHING, which is shocking and makes me think perhaps a hard reset would fix it, but I'd really rather not have to re-set up my phone if it's not going to help.
The only thing I found online was that apparently some Droid X owners are having the same issue.
Anyway, any help would be great.
I have the same issue and just assume that samsung modified the browser so it broke whatever plugin its trying to access. The problem is any articles in newsrob that have an embedded video.

But I've found that it's any link from anywhere that leads to a page that has a video. Which is immensely annoying.
any other ideas? does anyone else have this issue?
Captivate too
My Captivate has same issue. Thought I had broken the phone rooting, enabling sideloading,or hiding the bloatware.
My guess is it's probably related to flash lite 3 which is a plugin preinstalled on the vibrant. I'm going to assume that this problem will disappear once froyo rolls out.

I'm getting the same problem as well on my Samsung Captivate. Very annoying since more than half my articles have links to videos in them.

I tried removing the flash files from /system/app and rebooting. It still happened. Disabling plugins in the browser doesn't help either. Irritating as hell, I sure hope CM6 or the official 2.2 release come out soon and fix this. And the GPS, compass, etc..
I had the same issue with Dolphin Browser HD, but I haven't had the issue yet with the stock Vibrant browser.
Does anybody have any insight on this? It's still plaguing my newsrob whenever there is an embedded video in the feed.
It's a problem with flash lite files. The vibrant has trouble with its implementation.
Not sent from my Vibrant using XDA App 'cause I returned it.
I hate to make froyo this holy messiah but will froyo fix that as well?
I'm actually hoping froyo literally cures cancer.
Btw, I'm on a Captivate, but this topic wasn't in that forum. I thought it would be relatively universal though.

So what happened to the browser (memory-wise) after JI6 update?

I used to be able to open 8 tabs of mixed web pages (blogs, news, Facebook, etc) and could queue them all up, read them one by one, and close out & switch to the next tab when I'm finished with one.
I used to be able to do this without any slow downs or reloading of each page when I switch to it. In addition, my phone would not become bogged down.
NOW when I do this, I have to wait for the page to reload when I switch to it. This only happens when I have over 2 or 3 tabs going at once and even then, only when the webpages are relatively content-heavy.
Ok, ready for the b*tching? This is AWFULLY PAINFUL when I've queued these pages up right before entering a no-service area like a tunnel or the subway. My ancient G1 used to behave this way but I always thought that was because it had half the RAM of this phone, so it did that to free up memory for other running processes/headroom.
This is by far the biggest disappointment of the JI6 update and I'm just wondering if anyone else has noticed this or can suggest a fix.
Note, my phone is bone stock and one of the reasons I loved it so much was the browser performance - now, the browser performs horribly.

Want to keep this question alive.
Anyone?
Have you tried using a different browser, like Dolphin or Opera Mini?

I've tried other browsers in the past, but was always happiest with the stock browser.
Regardless, I want to know what happened to the memory management after the update. It would never attempt to reload pages if I had multiple tabs going but now it does.
What I meant was, have you tested to see if other browsers are behaving the same way as the stock browser after you updated to JI6?

No, I haven't, but I dont specifically know how they performed before the update with regards to multiple tabs and page reloading, so it wouldn't tell me much about what the update did.

Maybe not, but if they behave better than the stock browser does now that you've updated, that's what counts, right?
Well, I just opened up 8 tabs of different websites and was able to switch between them with no problem at all. Nothing had to reload for me. On stock browser with JI6.
Try clearing cache?

I have tried clearing the browser cache, tried other browsers, kill the native task manager app, tried stock froyo, Bionix V, Ginger Clone and Axura, and the browser always behaves the same way. If you switch to another app, when you come back to the browser, it starts to reload all pages (very annoying). It feels like I'm back using the mytouch 3g.
Back when the Vibrant (and the galaxy family) first came out, this didn't happened. 8 tabs (I could live with 4) that were always there waiting in the same line where you left off.
Any ideas

FIXED BY 5.0.1- Did the Dolphin update break your browsing experience on Iconia Tab?

UPDATED: Release 5.0.1 fixed the problem. Back to being my favorite browser!
If the update to version 5 of Dolphin HD refuses to load pages or won't load them at all on your A500, please go to our blog and comment with specifics so we can refer them to Dolphin in the next day or two.
I had the same problems with the beta version and uninstalled it immedietly. We want to keep this A500 specific, but are interested to know if other devices are having the same issues.
Please comment here:
http://everythingiconia.blogspot.com/2011/06/dolphin-browser-50-broken-on-iconia-tab.html
We are not doing this to make money, so don't click any ad links while on our site unless you see something you just have to click on. (We only make a penny per click anyway).
Let's make sure Dolphin pays attention to this quickly.

works fine for me. i just dont like using it because it doesnt seem to be able to download any file over 1mb. it just saves the html if its over. so im using opera. seems to be a better browser anyway.

Agree i too using Opera Mobile since it can download anything.
Only negative is no Flash in Opera yet.
It's because that Google hasn't open the Android 3.0 source code.
but it seems that Opera Mobile support HTML5.
Yeah, the update gave me problems, it is sporadic and hard to track down. When it occurs the pages fail to load properly, and I have to force the program stopped (application manager or task manager) to restore it to a functional state.
But, when it is working, it is a very nice update...
Same for me...I tried the Dolphin beta and had all sorts of issues where the pages wouldn't load any more. I uninstalled it and went back to the stock browser, which is working pretty well since the update. The previous Dolphin HD version was awesome.
Yesterday I installed the newest released version of Dolphin HD and am sharing it's use with the stock browser. It seems to be working okay, but I haven't done much surfing in the last day or so.
Update
Go the Dolphin home page and under the goole search bar you will see "page loading disturbing you now?". It appears this issue may have been addressed with a new beta. It has worked for me but I have only been using it for a short while.

Solved it for me. I was having problems with both my HTC Evo 4G and my Acer A500 with v5.0.0.

Browser Crashes

I have experienced some browser crashes in the past week, on multiple sites, and especially when visiting IGN.com. Its sort of a flash heavy site, but it still happens when I have Flash turned off.
Anyone else having problems with browser crashes? It has happened with both the stock Android Browser as well as Dolphin HD Browser.
yeah lot's of random crashing with default browser, I have installed every browser available but none offer the same as desktop experience. Browsing is (for me) the most disappointing thing about the tablet.
Happens to me quite often. Well happened. If you can live without JavaScript turn it off. Just enable it on sites that you really need. For me the sudden browser closures (not FCs) happend mainly on sites with JavaScripts.
Yes lots of crashes for me as well. I tend to have a lot of tabs open, and it is particularly annoying that there seems to be no way to automatically open up the same set of tabs (anyone know if there is a way to do this)...
same here, getting very tired of having to turn flash and java off to make browswer stable, hell if wanted this i would have bought a ipad2!
Much of the content on good sites is java & flash, for me its only been really bad the last 7 days. Come on android/ Asus, sort it please!

Just did that and both the stock browser and Dolphin HD work MUCH faster and no more FCs. Question--is the Java engine part of android, or is it in the browser? If it is in android, then I guess there is no point in trying other browsers.

holy, I've experience about 10 force closes. My browser doesn't even show the pop up force close notification, it just closes and returns me to my launcher -.-
same here ,really annoying..my nook colors stock browser on cm7 was alot better as well as flash support on it...hopefully soon it ll be adressed...
i just experienced this during the weekend. anyone contact ASUS about this?
this is surely a software issue which can easily be fixed (i hope)
Wow - glad I am not the only one. I really hope this issue gets fixed, its annoying to say the least!
+1
Me too, hope they sort it soon.
I found that clearing my cache through the manage app settings helps me to load a page after a crash. It usually happens if I have over 25 MB worth of cache from previous browsing cessions.
I must be lucky... I've had no problems with my browser at all, I'm very pleased with it.
I Use Dolphin HD. Only Time my Browser Crashes is when My girl uses it and she gets on Tumblr. Weird..
Edit: Oh and it only happens after a While of use on that web Site.
Guys, I just turned off the fast scrolling in the advanced menu and it's stopped crashing. Can anyone else test?
so far so good. Crossing my fingers.

This is a google issue. Guys over at the xoom forum are having the same issue.
I find that rebooting the tf every other day helps cut down crashing and app fc's

browser crashes randomly

Sometimes I'll be in the browser on a website and the browser will randomly shut down and take me to my homepage. No message pops up saying something went wrong though. I just got my tablet yesterday and already this has happened 7-10 times. Does this happen to other people or am I the only one? Is there anything I can do to fix it?
I have the A501, but my browser has done the same thing a few times. It only seemed to happen when i had a really bad connection though. Don't know if that had any factor in it. Usually its fine though
same here
I think its coding on the website.this happened far less with the new dolphin browser but I like stock browser better.
Giggles are for blonde chics back off there mine
No guarantee that this will work for you, but you could give it a shot.
It very well could be coding on the page as was suggested earlier. Especially if it always happens on a particular site.
For your applications that are force closing or are acting buggy, try this procedure to see if it may correct the behaviors:
Go to Settings >> Applications >> Manage applications >> All tab, select the application that is giving you problems, and press the Force stop button if the application is still running and then to wipe the data press the Clear data and Clear cache buttons as well.
NOTE: THIS WILL RESET THE APPLICATION AND ERASE ANY APPLICATION STORED DATA UNLESS ITS SAVED TO MEMORY.
If this does not correct the issues, then try uninstalling and then reinstall the application.

Yup
It happens to me from time to time, usually when I'm looking around on failblog for some reason. I just go to my history so I can easily go back to the last page I was looking at.
Stock 3.1, latest update.
Its an old and known problem. Unfortunatly 3.1 didn't solve it. Switching off Java does but thats not a satisfieing solution.
Browser keeps shutting down
I'm having the same issue right now and can't seem to use the browser for more than 2 mins its really getting on my nerve. How can I view video when the JavaScript is turned off? For once, why can't this device not have faults regarding basic functions?

It seems that a good question here would also be, "What browsers are you all using? And have they all shown the same behavior?"
I have the default Chrome, then I also have Firefox and Dolphin. I know there are others as well.
my tab had this issue as well. i notice that when adblocker is running it doesnt happen near as often. i suspect pop up ads are responsible. your experience with failblog makes me more sure.
Hmmm..... I don't ever have that problem with the Dolphin HD browser.
This happens a least once a day for me. But it happens randomly, on any page. Even if i just try and open the browser to the home page it'll occasionally close on its own.
