Successfuly Telcel Carrier Arc SIM/Bootloader unlocked and FASTBOOT enabled by SETool - Xperia Arc General

Well as simple as that.
I have an Arc with Telcel Mexico, which is factory locked and all this stuff.
Now after unlock sim with SETool i get unlocked bootloader and fastboot enabled.
SETool is a paid software so I can recommend to find some person who have this tool and asking for unlocking SIM by Testpoint
Cheers

Well, unlock its really easy but you need SETool which is a paid software that requires a Box or dongle (with an smartcard inside).
But if you have it, I can help to unlock your bootloaders

Damn, that's the best combo. An unlocked bootloader with DRM still intact. Hell, now I'm jealous.
I don't have a locked phone but till now, I haven't unlocked the bootloader because I didn't want the DRM files to be wiped. Arrgh!

Having just done a bit more reading and seeing what's required, the price being the main issue, I think I'll wait for the devs.

If i get it unlocked at the local store, does the bootloader get unlocked as well?

You mean buying a device without simlock?
No, you always have to unlock it yourself.

As Flo95 says, if you buy the phone on factory store unlocked for any carrier yes, it will be able to start oin fastboot mode, and this way you will be able to unlock the bootloader by official way.
If the phone its not factory unlocked, I mean locked or unlocked by IMEI code, then only way to unlock the bootloader is SETool by testpoint.

lock it a great news but .....
hello.
i have a orange branded arc.
i purchase it in used not box pack.
when i purchase it, its sim unlock already i don't know from which method it done
but it is not connecting in fast boot.
then how can i unlock my boot loader, because sim are unlock already but not from SEtools.
and what we need to do with setools please tell us it step by step

With powered off arc, press menu key and connect to pc with usb cable, if the led is blue you can unlock by official way.
If not, it just is unlocked for network by imei code.

You need to buy some hardware too at a cost of £100 or so which for most people will be out of the question.

My Xperia play won't start

Hello,
I've rooted my xperia play a few weeks ago, no problem.
But this morning a system update poped up, and I started it, and my xperia play went off, en doesn't start anymore
I've tried flasher, it works, till it has been flashed, and I have to disconnect my xperia play with the computer, hold the on button and plug it again in, it doesn't start.
Can anyone help me please?
Sounds like you might have to flash a new firmware. I am by no means an expert with the play but check the dev section for flashing a new image.
Or, call your carrier and let them know that their update bricked your phone.

I had my xperia play rooted, and I had app planet on my phone,
Doesn't have that any consequence?
Have you unlocked your bootloader when rooting?

Well I take you haven't unlocked your bootloader cause that would be a procedure you would remember doing.
If you used gingerbreak to root your bootloader is not unlocked.
You would have needed your imei no. and an unlock key from SE and fastboot commands to unlock your bootloader and flash a rooted FW

I had needed those think you said, imei no. unlock key etc.
So I think I have unlocked my bootloader
But when I want to update my xperia play from the pc, it says:"The phone contains modified software that cannot be updated."
Is there any possible way that I could unbrick my xperia play, ore should I just return it to the shop I bought it?
So you did a **** load of searching to find out how to unlock your bootloader & root but completely skipped the many threads stating that UPDATING WITH AN UNLOCKED BOOTLOADER WILL BRICK YOUR XPERIA PLAY?!
Epic fail.

I see, afaik there's no fix that totally unbricks it. You can make it boot again but it will brake the radio. So no phone functions, calls, sms and such will not work.

That is the reason: unlocking the boatloader wipes the DRM certificates from the phone and disables that functionality.

From what i know, once you unlock your bootloader, You loose the DRM certificates for life. Even if you relock they can't be recovered. Maybe you have come across a glitch lucky sod

( Discussion ) Bootloader Unlock / DRM Keys

HI XDA,
As we all know at present there is no exploit to root while the boot loader is locked and hence do the TA Backup and save the DRM keys. Now, considering the predecessor Z1, many people are of a view wherein if we unlock the bootloader then DRM keys would be lost and some functions like Xreality and etc wont work.
But, on the 4.4.2 Z1 firmware DRM keys are not lost if we unlock the B/L.( Correct me if I am wrong ).
So, The main confusion now is the following.
* Per Some users who have U/L their bootloader, They mentioned that everything is working fine including Xreality and all DRM keys are intact if they check it via *#*#7378423#*#* on phone keypad -> service tests -> verifiy certificates -> media -> Certificates
* Per some users DRM Keys are lost as in Z1
Now, Considering that there is NO ETA as to when a exploit would be discovered to root without u/l boot-loader.What I want to suggest is that probably we can request our friends who have already unlocked the bootloader to check if DRM keys are lost or not and if genuinely all the features like xreality BIONZ are wroking.
I am not sure who we can do that. So, lets please work on this and possibly all of us who are waiting to ROOT this awesome beast put an end to our patience.
Figured I'd humour you and post what all is in my "Media" section. Unlocked bootloader, btw. I'm going to assume this means I'm missing the keys? And I marked out the Thumbprint stuff, cause that looked somewhat private.

I think the easiest way to check if DRM key is lost or not, is to open the Sony Unlimited app. I had trouble connecting to the service, after unlocking the bootloader. It worked fine, prior to bootloader unlock.

Root and bootloader unlock discussions

Because "Whilst a minor amount of off-topic posting may be overlooked, the general rule is that your posts / threads must be relevant to the Forum / thread in which you are posting. ", I feel this needs it's own thread instead of this one oem-unlock-bootloader-preserving-drm, which was originally discussing DRM warranty.
I want to discuss if it is possible and how it would be done. It is not yet listed on Sony's webpage with phone and other devices which support unlock bootloader. I will try to root and unlock bootloader this weekend, I will try using the same method as for z3c.
i'm on a weekend trip and will try to root my z5c on sunday evening or monday. a smartphone without adaway, titanium backup etc. is crap.
feedback about your success would be nice.

I don't know if you can do this in Xperias. But in Nexus devices you can boot (without flash) a recovery.
For instance:
fastboot boot Clockworkmod.img
However, I would just wait for an official custom recovery for the Z5C.

As an FYI
Sony now lists the Z5 (not compact, but should apply the same way) on their unlocking site:
"To be able to unlock your Xperia Z5, prepare it by following these steps:
1.Go into Settings > About phone and tap seven times on Build number to enable developer options.
2.From Settings, go into Developer options and enable OEM unlocking"
So it looks like this is all that´s required, no more code requesting process like on previous devices. However, nothing specific mentioned on the DRM aspect.. I have checked the option, still had "myXperia" enabled and all was good. Also, have not seen a difference in Camera quality, but would not bet on it...
but did you root your z5c?

I just followed the guide for z3c, it accepted my IMEI. But as already stated, you can now unlock OEM for all z5 models. Here is the link: http://developer.sonymobile.com/unlockbootloader/. I don't know if it worked because when I started my phone again, it rested to it's original state and I had restore from a backup.

Me too... But I think the lollipop line is dead. The customization is horrible, extreme battery drain, etc. I hope, the Sony sw developers focus to the Marshmallow project.

Bootloader unlock, custom ROM support?

Has anyone already got an European version of Nokia 5? Can user unlock the bootloader? First impressions, shall we see official mainstream custom roms for this device? Are there exotic and unsupported components used?

My Nokia 5 has the same OEM-Unlock developer option as my Nexus 5x.
Never had such a barebones android device, nearly boring
Bootloader becomes unlockable through an option on developer settings, and the pure android approach will help developers
If my bootloader is unlocked, how and where can I get eg. TWRP Recovery for my Nokia 5?
You will have to wait until there is an un/official TWRP released. Which you will surely find here first.

On the Nokia 6 the OEM bootloader unlock button doesn't really work. The bootloader is not really unlocked.
There's also no bootloader unlock in the Nokia 3. < That guy got his XDA account suspended for posting spam crap instead of real stuff.
Probably same with the Nokia 5. Nokia has locked the bootloader down on all of this year's Androids unless anyone can prove otherwise.
If you arrow up out of those topics to the broader Nokia 6, and Nokia 3 Android forums, you will see there's no bootloader unlock, no TWRP recovery, no ROMs, not even any real root.
Remember, if it's not here on XDA it's not real. It will be here first. There's tons of scam/malware websites that will urge you to download crap and promise bootloader unlock and UNICORNS, but don't do it.
EDIT: for the Nokia 6, two days ago someone has CLAIMED to be able to root and install TWRP bypassing the LOCKED DOWN bootloader. It seems complicated and it's not been verified yet as of this date.

i have ported TWRP for Nokia 6, not sure does it work or not as i do not own this particular device
edit: i wouldn't try that TWRP installation method as it says "brush brush method" what ever that even is!? atleast not before someone can actually confirm it works
IIRC someone have a Nokia 6 Chinese using global rom. They flash them in edl mode. So can we use that to bypass the bootloader?
This is the reply that I got from Nokia Care... Conclusion - they don't have a clue.

disappointing
I was really keen on buying it, and if the phone is not rootable then there is no point in buying it.
hope NOKIA team is reading this and they realize the importance of having an unlockable bootloader.

In my opinion we should bomb them with these kind of questions so that they understand that they should let us unlock the bootloader if we want to...

There a secret debug tool in the phone, just open the Dialer app and type *#*#DBGTOOL#*#*. Wonder if it helps
Did anyone got Root on our Nokia Devices?
Sent from my TA-1053 using XDA-Developers Legacy app
all of you are right without root there is no use of the phone ..after so many years nokia has done the come back but still we are not happy
So it will never be rooted?
Sorry for double, but I found this in developer options. What does it mean? Doesn't it unlock the bootloader?
No it doesn't
