Title says it all. I currently use xtr rom because I wanted a pretty vanilla experience and speed without breaking things. I now want to move to a totally nonsense based rom. Preferably a Cyanogen based one, but I'm not sure which one is most worry free, like everything works, mms, gps, rotation and accelorometer. etc. Thanks, and sorry that I can't really figure this out my self, i just thought it would be better to hear from those who have acctually tried the roms.
The best way to figure out which one is best for you is to use them. Try it for a few days and then try another. No one can tell you what you will prefer.
erislightingbolt ....by conap if im not mistaken. Its definitely perfected enough for daily use.
I use CM6 every day without any problems, texting works, wifi works, gps works, calls work lol I haven't come accross anything that would stop me from using it every day.
Thanks everyone, I'm giving CyanogenELB a shot right now.
Please report back with a "review".
Some of how we like/dislike a ROM is subjective, but your experience can be helpful to others.

I'm using Tazzpatriot's cm6 and it is perfectly fine for everyday. I pull 5.1 on linpack with no setcpu even installed. The stock camera doesn't have preview but it shoots perfectly fine pics. Gps has been a bit sketchy as of latest build but I think tazz may have a fix for that on the way. I love the speed and battery life of it. I am running launcher pro and I popped for the newly offered plus version to help with development and for the widgets he is including. I never have lag and mms works great.
This thread belongs in general. Mods, please move it.

Well I think its a great rom, highest LINPACK score I have seen on my eris yet, but I get this strange lag while scrolling and for some reason it actually feels slower than xtr. I think I'm going to give CM6 a shot.
So, I restored my NANDroid backup of xtr and it strangely feels faster. I hate the HTC dialer, People, and messaging app tho. I think I'm just going to wait until the Froyo Cyanogen roms get more refined and move to one of those. Thanks Everyone.
Tazz's CM6
I've been using Tazz's CM6 with Froyo. Definitely very solid. I use set CPU to 768, JIT, and 24 Heap. With that I get up to 5.2 MFlops. With Skyfire browser I get flash videos too. No more slow phone problems and no more Sense. I love ADW, the dialer, automatic application upgrades, etc, etc.
Most of the Froyo/CM6 roms run well, but are missing basic things like camera, tethering, etc. For a great, fully working rom I would suggest ErisLightningBolt. It is a port of Cyanogen 5 (2.1) and runs great. I get great batttery life and the camera, usb tethering, and Wifi tethering all work great.
Im on CM6 and loving it. It's very smooth and snappy, battery life is good, and it looks nice as well coming from my stock 2.1 setup. My only complaint is the issue with the led light staying on after charging or USB hook up, but I'm using noti led as a fix for that and im using magic cam for a camera fix until those issues are resolved, but overall CM6 has treated me very well!
Ok, well now you all got me really craving to try a froyo rom. CM6 or kaosFroyo? Mostly concerned with stability.
I'm talking only by my own experience, CM6. I tried both (last version I used of K.F. was 21) and I've had such great results with CM6 and very mixed results with K.F. but that's just me.
I run kaos Frayo V24 and its amazingly fast and no force closes only thing not in this for us the camera do t have a preview( use camera magic from market) and flash isn't there yet, other than that kaos V24 is fastest smoothest Frayo Tom out there that I've tried and slot of people.check the kaos Frayo thread out it's awesome.

Chalk one up for tazzpatriot's port of Cyanogenmod 6.0.0 v3 hero port. (not the RC DS 1 G1 Port)

I forget what exactly, but something about it works that DOESN'T work in KaosFroyo that is necessary for me for a daily ROM. I'll edit this post if I remember it.
All of the devs do a spectacular job on their ROMs though. I would venture a bet that KaosFroyo is a much cleaner, better put together ROM as a result of Kaos's fantastic understanding of Android and how general computer stuff works.
Droid Does V1.1 FTW!!
The default launcher on elb is out dated. What i did was download launcherpro then go in and delete adwlauncher from system/app and just use launcherpro. It is alot faster after doing that.

O that would explain a lot. Did the default launcher make your phone lag even in other apps? Like I noticed scrolling in the market was very slow...
Hi guys
I just thought I should share this with all you unhappy sgs owners who keep complaining about GPS issues.
Im from india with the international i9000 version and I just flashed to darky's rom 4.1 with speedmod and installed ndrive with india maps.
Gps works beautifully and I get locked on in 10 seconds or even less and it's flawless navigation after that.
I feel all those who have issues with gps should try this rom. The rom is great.. lag free and 100% WORKING GPS.
Cheers

Did you have Poor GPS before flashing this ROM ?
With NDrive maps installed .

Extremely. Poor..took forever to lock..and then also was very erratic. Was on XXJPD official rom before that

He's actually right. I was on ultimate rom 1.0 and gps did not work or lock at all. Went back to darkys 4.1 and gps works again. Gps for me used to work so so but in darkys it seems to work a whole lot better. Sgs imho has the worst gps of all phones but now it works, not great but works

hi,
i was wondering, now with all the android roms beeing published to xda
i'd realy like to know which rom is actualy the most recent, or the best, with the least errors and best to work
and another thing,
is it possible to delete windows from my phone and let my phone start directly from android, to avoid the long boot time?
@natihorny - Here's a link to TechBurrow's thread. There is a video/ links for what you need to do to flash your phone with Android and have it boot up directly to it without dealing with WM. I've yet to do this, as I'm still at work, but plan on giving it a try in the coming days.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=894423
I would suggest that you dont use NAND builds yet they are far from perfect but instead you should use this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=847631 it is motomans black and blue build wich is by far the best sense android build even much better than any ram and nand build and as for winmo flash this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=893438 and it will boot android just as fast as any nand build and you will never have problems with this setup
this is a very, very subjective thread. there is not "best" rom--it's all about what you're looking for in a rom. for example, vanilla froyo vs. desire vs. desire hd vs. miui vs. gingerbread. or sd vs. sd ram vs. nand.
personally, i'm a proponent of sd ram. i haven't actually used it long term, but it seems to be very fast (and based on darkstone, it's even faster than nand). especially with nand being very young in its development, i would stick to sd for now. plus, it's much easier to flash and fix in case you corrupt your rom somehow. there's a few out there (just look for "[SD] [RAM]" in the descriptions), but one i'd like to point out is darkstone's superram froyo. i'm kinda busy right now, but that's definitely the rom i'm going to be using and modding to my liking.
good luck and have fun flashing!
ok, thanks everyone for the helpfull answers,
i had still one other question and thats,
i just bought a new car with bluetooth function, though my cell phone and the bluetooth of the car don't connect like it should, (thats why i wanted an android with the least amount of problems) and i was wondering if the fact that the bluetooth is only visible 120 seconds may cause the problem.

i was wondering, in some of the android roms, you can choose skins from htc sense and have the htc market, and can download more htc backgrounds, sounds, etc. etc.
and now i have the rom you suggested, both for windows as for android which i'd like to use, but doesn't have that htc sense thing buildt in the android rom, how can i get it back?

The build you are speaking of is the desire hd. I didn't suggest that build because it is laggy and slow. Even after 10 restarts and 2 days of use it still laggs alot compared to the one I posted in B4. Take it from someone that has tried every build available the motoman build is BY FAR the BEST after you get over all the HOOPLAH over the new htc sense wich is cool i'll admit but the coolness wears off after about 2 days and your just stuck with a laggy non responsive HD build. now others will post how good thier HD build works after hours of tweeking and reading and tweeking and reading. But trust me you will go back to the motoman build after you try the hd for a few days
@ wrecless
thanks for your view about which rom to choose, i'll do as you say, since you realy know what you're talking about, and i was hoping you tell me whenever a perfect rom from the htc desire is out?

I installed the darkstone build and had problems but I cant remember exactly what they were. In my opinion the motoman build was just as fast and had no problems. I'v been trying everything just because i want something different but I always come back to this build nothing out there seams to work as well as this one and as for the nand builds they are all RMNET. So untill I see a working PPP build I'm going to keep using this SD build
Why hasnt a mod moved or deleted this topic?

I tryed Motoman's build and found it very nice, but am having problems with wifi and market, I think there may be a fix for these but ive not had time to browse through the forum as of yet.

Not sure one can find a perfect build ( or mate for that matter ), but I do have some info collected that others may find useful in the link below. If anyone can find a build with everything working, please let us know.

Hi!
I use Buddy Runner to record my runs. I've been previously using it with a HTC G1 and the accuracy was great.
Now with my ZTE Blade (CyanogenMod 7), the recording is very inaccurate. See my last run: w-w-w.buddyrunner.com/the_sandro (The older ones where recorded with the G1).
Do you have any idea what could be wrong? Does anybody have the same problem?
Thank you in advance
Sandro
Today I tried it with the Stock ROM, the result was much better than yesterday with CM. I will try it again with CM and file a bug, if it will be as bad as yesterday.
Dude is it just me or you run really fast? wow 18km/h average thats impressive
That was by bicycle :-D just for testing the GPS.

So the main question is ... is it still accurate now?
I didn't flash back to CM yet, but I will report, when I've done.
Sorry I'm not massivly into development of these... Proof in that I'm still trying to upgrade my Orange SF, but I also have an Iphone 3g and both have Geocaching software installed, Iphone accurate to 47m, Orange SF about 7foot, and proven in use for me.
I'm using CM 7 and RunKeeper now. Before I've been using CM Nightly 39 and BuddyRunner. I have no issues with the new setup, the tracks are accurate.
A test stock rom vs latest CM7 would prove if there's some kind of bug in CM's GPS function.
Hi,
i flashed my HD2 about 4-5 months ago to the NexusHD2-Gingerbread V3.2a rom by tytung. (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=905060)
Everything works fine, great and the most of time stable.
This year tytung released a ICS-version for the HD2. NexusHD2-ICS-4.0.4-CM9-HWA V2.0 (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1434860)
My question now - u guess: Should i stay on Android 2, without any big bugs or problems, or should i "risk" the step to the android 4 rom by tytung? Pays it off and is the rom stable as the Android 2 version?
I apologize for my -probably- horrible english...

It annoys me a lot more than it should, but it's Android 2.3 not Android 2 And your English is extremely good, much better than many others' English on these forums
Anyway, I would highly recommend it. That's the ROM I'm using right now and it's extremely fluid, and the HWA is very noticable. I haven't noticed any consistent bugs as of yet, and using GO Launcher makes it seem even faster (definitely smoother than GO Launcher on GB). However, in the day I've used it I have had two reboots although I suspect it's something to do with GO Launcher because it happened both times when I pressed menu in the GO Launcher app drawer. I haven't yet been able to reproduce that bug so fingers crossed it won't happen again. Overall, a great ROM and you should definitely try it out.

if you are in mgldr you can try tytungs' icecream rom's sd version as I do. temple run 'runs' very fluid unlike many ginger roms, even in sd version.
Thanks for the opinions. I will try it and hope it will work as good as the 2.3.7 version...

Hi, I'd recommend you upgrade to the ICS one - gingerbread isn't worth staying on really unless you want a Sense ROM. Also use apex launcher if you want to have a fully stock ICS experience. I've used that and not had any random reboots so I highly recommend it!
