There are also apps you can use to freeze preloaded/bloatware if root is obtained first.

Stock Rom without Sense?

This is probably a redundant question, but is there any way to just have the plain jane stock rom, without sense, and without rosie? Then everything will still work!

[Q] how to upgrade sense?

I have the STOCKED rom and still have sense 1.0 on my evo.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1238959
How can i upgrade my sense version to 2.1 or 3.0 or above?
please help - i do not want to wipe any data if i can avoid it
If you're rooted then here's a 2.1 with some 3.0 features. I personally use it and its phenomenal.
If you aren't rooted though..you cannot update your sense software without buying a new device. That's why many people root in order to take control of their phone.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1038967
Here's a full 3.0 ROM. Try them out.. FULL WIPE is required in order to flash both of them. Use titanium backup to save your data. It's a lame process but whatever its worth it.

You will have to flash a custom ROM. Are you rooted? Because you will have to be rooted and have a custom recovery. Then you can flash a custom ROM with the newer Sense versions.
You can retain apps and data with Titanium Backup

Root then you can go all the way to 3.5 if you wanna .. which to me is the smoothest running of the sence roms 3.0 does not really like our evos LOL

HotSpot hack

Is there a trick to install the hacked HotSpot? It keeps saying "Not Installed". I am stock rooted.
Edit : disregard, I must be tired. I don't even know I tried to read the op lol.
Thanks E4gN.

If your trying to install it like a normal .apk its not going to work. You have to move it to system\app and set the right permissions

What are the correct permissions may I ask? I have friend that just rooted her phone and wants the hotspot hack instead of wifi tether. Are the permissions the same as others, need to be inverted "7"?

I believe, if it goes in /system/app , as noob stated, then permissions will be rw-r-r. Same as other apks in system/app.

No, no, no, no....if you are not using a rooted custom ROM.
The hotspot hack(s) will only work on deodexed ROMs which you must flash through recovery. Since stock ROM is odexed, the only way you will receive the hotspot hack other than using the wifi tether app is to flash a rooted custom (possibly rooted stock) ROM which is deodexed, which most of them are.
The hotspot hack works on odexed roms check out the classic it only comes odexed and has hotspot working u can do anything odexed u can deodexed now a days

Ok, 1 odexed ROM. I still have never seen a hotspot hack that wasn't part of a custom ROM, unless I've missed it somewhere, and have never found one for stock ROM, unless it was a custom rooted stock ROM.
Ummm try looking there are modded hotspots to oush to your rom with instructions all over the dev section

I've always just flashed a rom that has hacked hotspot baked in. It's never caused any problems. I used it as my ISP for an entire summer with no issues.
Ok, so I'm rooted with superuser. How do I set those permissions when it put it in the system/app folder?

Please read this OP.
I suggest flashing classic.06 it is a bare bones super quick rom with hotspot hack already installed

It's much easier to either use the wifi tether app or just flash a rooted ROM with the hotspot already hacked, since every hotspot hack I ever did needed to be done in a CUSTOM ROM anyway.
Also, that system/app thing (with the rw-r--r-- permissions) will install the app, but will not hack it into working, tried that about a year ago.

Using sense apps & widgets in MIUI ROM

Hi everybody,
i have receintly installed a MIUI ROM in my TMOUS HD2 and i wonder if i can extract some sense apps from a sense ROM to use with this MIUI ROM.
Unfortunately not, it doesn't work like that afaik.
Sent from my NexusHD2 using xda app-developers app
U would need the framework and system files from the sense rom, which means u will get a lot of force close from the miui apps. So no, unless u edit the framework and system files.
