You need fo sync the contacts folder to your tab to be able to choose a new contact... The numbers frequently make a new conversations with the area code (so u have 2 contact windows open) it also can have trouble pairing... Dont get me wrong i like it.. Infact im using it now just small bugs like i said make it annoying at times

I have been using it with touchdown and the contacts have been flawless. You should let the dev know he has been pretty responsive

Contacts syncing

I'm making this as a new post in the general section for a reason. The Gingerblur thread is too crazy and moving too fast for a question like this and I'm also not even sure that this is Gingerblur related.
The problem I'm having is with my Contact information staying synced on the phone. It seems that no matter how many times I edit a contact, particularly the contacts photo that should be supplied by FaceBook, it won't stick. I am trying to get this to work correctly but haven't found a way to do it. I would like everyones contact information in my phone to be synced with facebook and pull their photos down from facebook and link to their profiles. It appears that this OS has everything required to do that but it's just not functioning correctly. Some of my contacts have the right facebook pictures, but a lot of them have none at all. I also have duplicate entries and some other anomolies as well.
Is there a setting I'm missing?

I have this problem also. For example, Ill text someone and their picture won't show up in the text thread, even though the contact is synced with Facebook.

Yes that too. Or sometime the pics will.be there in the text thread itself but it wont be when you're looking at all the text threads. Really glitchy.

Definitely an issue with GingerBlur. I had the same issue.

My must have app for the Acer (or any tablet really)

I just downloaded SyncSms. Work by synching your tablet and phone via dropbox and works very well. Can text and browse on my tablet for only 3 bucks!

curious
Let me get this straight. You download the app on both your phone and your tablet?
Is there any lag between sending and receiving txt's?
Interesting in purchasing and trying this out.
Yes, with android phone as well as a free Dropbox account (I have the Evo). you dl the app to your phone and sign into your Dropbox account and it automatically sets the device to "phone" then you do the same to the tablet and it recognizes it's a tablet. You have two options for synching, there's a manual refresh button, or what I do is set the "auto sync" feature to every 15 seconds (pretty close to instantaneous). I have seen neglible battery difference on the phone or tablet. Sent a few hundred texts using this method and not one issue. Well worth the price, and you're talking to a guy that has actually purchased only a few apps.

Sync SMS is brilliant!

Yes I agree its brilliant. You can set the update interval to pretty much as fast as you want depending on how much you love your battery. Texting from the tab is boss!

Yup. There is a little toggle widget for switching syncing on and off.

How can I read and reply to SMS messages from my tablet?

How can I read and reply to SMS messages from my tablet?
I saw an app in the Android Market called SyncMS.
The latest reviews said it is not working as it should.
I'd hate to purchase it and not having working properly.
Has anyone tried it, or know of another app and method that works?
Sent from my GT-P7510 using Tapatalk
you can use remote web desktop, and its free too.
I'd take a look at DeskSMS.
I use google voice and works great even had an updated version today.

Don't you need to be US-based to set up/make use of a Google Voice account though?

I have syncsms and it works fine but you need dropbox as well as the messages go through it. Another good one is textab. That one connects phone through bluetooth instead of using dropbox. Pretty handy.

Thanks. I've never heard of Textab. It didn't show up in apps that were related to SyncSMS either.
Which do you prefer between the two?

I think textab is flipping awesome. Ridiculously easy to set up and use. There's a trial version in the market and the full version is available for $2
I use Tablet Talk and it has worked great so far. You can sync via bluetooth or through your wifi network.

I used to use this on my PC. Didn't know they came out with a tablet version.
I like how I can see and reply to all of messages, as well as share text clipboard between my phone and tablet.

Look for texttab in market and try the free verson first. If you get it working I is great.

Textab and Tablet Talk are both nice. Tablet Talk seems to have more features. I have both up and running. Trying to decide which one I want to keep.

Thanks for the link and info!!!
This app is awesome. Dev is working hard on future updates too.
I also like how it alerts me for incoming calls. That way I will know who the call is from, and will be able to get to my phone to answer it.

Calendar

Has anyone thought about putting the android calendar in? I would love to put I have no clue where to start and I don't want to start just putting things in to the system app folder.

Yeah, I got it installed and working a few nights ago:

I noticed the day names don't show up on the week view, though. Fixes?

Also the top part seems to cut off

Haahah wow. Here I am all excited to have it working...guess I'm not nitpicky enough.... didn't even notice the few issues there... I'm using as-is... so no fix that I know of for the missing day names sorry.

Its not a fix I really need though since I almost never go in to the app I use widgets to show me my appointments

I don't strictly need it, either, since I can just use the date -- mostly all I ever do is put in appointments where I know the date, and it's still easy to get that info. The convenience thing is what I really needed, and it does that just fine.
calendar pad pro
this one seems just fine, and my exchange server shows up i it fine
It's not just the week view, it also cuts off the first few days of the month too and the name of the month too and the same thing on the day view.

I still get the grey bar that blocks the first couple days in the month. Do I have to install email.apk too? I only installed calendar.apk since I don't need Exchange/ActiveSync.
got it working
thanks for the info

[APP] Tablet Talk - anyone use it?

So I found this app called tablet talk which is supposed to sync your phone to your tablet via WiFi and it uses your mobile phone number, so you can send text messages and see missed calls, etc. from your tablet..... has anyone used this app, or maybe something similar? If so, how does it work? Is it worth the money? If this is something that works flawlessly, then I can see it is a must-have for a user like me who would love to be able to receive and send text messages from my tablet. Just wanted some opinions on this app, or something similar. So far this is the only app that I have found that can do this.

Brilliant app, I used it all the time before I sent my nexus back. It connects via Bluetooth or wifi, but i always used bluetooth, it was easier to connect. Text messages show up just like they do on your phone, definitely work the money
Just use the free 15 quid credit that came with your nexus.

Yep. Love this app as well. Great for in car as well. Now I don't have to have both my tab and my phone mounted to my windshield. Just my tab and tablet talk....text messages and answering calls (Bluetooth headset of course)

Using it as well, very handy app. Between that and Groove IP, I generally don't mess with my phone when I'm at home.
Just as everybody else has said, it is worth the purchase. I usually throw my phone in my room and carry the N7 around with me when I'm home so it's nice getting texts and calls sent to the N7 that would have been missed.
Funny seeing this post, cause not to long ago i posted looking for an app like this and someone referred it to me....LOVE this App and use it everyday....you can also accept calls if you have a bluetooth headset paired....its awesome and would refer it to anyone looking to basically use theyre phone features on theyre tablet....

Thank you everyone for the replies. I did end up purchasing this app today and have used it quite a bit just for texting so far. Don't own a Bluetooth headset so I probably won't use it for calls, but its definitely convenient to not have to have both my phone and the tablet next to me npw,. I love being able to received my text messages on my tablet. Showed it to a friend and they really want it now too, but the problem is they have an iPad and a Samsung s3, so I don't know if there is an app that is cross-compatible. If anyone knows of one I'm sure they would appreciate it if you could let me know. Thanks again everyone

You done need to use a Bluetooth headset unless you are in public. Otherwise you can just put it on speaker phone.
