what's the best rom for battery life for vibrant?
ZenDroid, Bi-Winning, Trigger.
Bi-Winning with BaliUV is working wonders for me on the battery life.

The same here, just swtched to Bali 1.2 1.2GHz two weeks ago. Overclocked but undervolted using 3500mah battery. It lasts for 36h light, and 14h heavy usage..

Just about any of the major Froyo ROMs with a UV kernel (Bali, Overstock or Trigger UV versions) will give great battery life. Even the 2.2.1 versions (though I'm not sure what advantage that .1 gives)..
However, don't believe anyone when they say you can get "great" battery life on CM7 or ported GB Roms. It just ain't so. Yes, there have been improvements on those Roms, but you'll still get half the life of a Froyo ROM or worse no matter what you do. Stick with Froyo if battery matters at all to you.
thank you. i'll check those roms you guys recommended.
now i'm on biffmod 1.3

Be careful who are you calling **** kido!!! I've tried most of the roms, kernels and modems out there and telling me that you have over 50% left after more than 24h usage with 3-4h internet browsing and 1h gps navigation sounds like a joke. I've been able to replicate such life with other TW ROMS like 1.3.2_test and TARD with Bali 1.8.8 UV.
I haven't had much the same success with the Dragonmodz and Overstock UV kernels.
The Bali and Immortality kernels are the ones for me for now.

If you try Immortality 2.2 Kernel, use setCPU to undervolt. My set up is below (just a Reference since every CPU has different capability).
Stock KB5 with Immortality 2.2 Kernel
Max Freq: 800Mhz
Cpu Governor: Conservative
800Mhz || -100mV
400Mhz || -125mV
200Mhz || -150mV
100Mhz || -350mV
Phone runs smoothly and no Sleep of Death. The Back Cover stays COOL when doing web browsing, youtube, or playing game (Avatar SD Version does make the back cover warm up a little bit, just a little bit). No more burning up while charging. Battery life is Phenomenon.

;D I'm running Bionix v1.3.1 and the battery life is AWESOME. Yesterday, I did a LOT of texting, gaming and talking. By the end of the day, I still had 90%.
Usually, if I do that on any other ROM, by the end of the day, I'd probably have around 0%-30%
I didn't recondition the battery, either.
BUT ONE THING, I've NEVER EVER experienced a problem with the GPS on my vibrant, but right after flashing V1.3.1, it wouldn't work anymore. It'd take like 15 mins to lock D:<
wow. using any different kernels? What modem? I get stock battery life on bionix. I have no idea how people are getting such amazing battery life. Maybe i need to do a battery reconditioning.

Same here, running 1.3.1 with the overstock kernel, keeping wifi on all day due to the great wifi sleep policy, after an 8 hour work day of moderate to heavy use my battery is at about 70% everyday. I don't even want to update to the newest version of overstock, too scared to lose what I have.
Edit: And my gps works flawlessly, but I've done the hardware fix on it.

Hate calling people liars but I will never understand people who get 2 days wiht an oem battery. I jsut dont see someone besides an extremely light user getting 2+ days without a charge. I got 2 days with my 2700mah extended battery.

This is probably as accurate as you can get:
Heavy use: 6 hours or less, MAYBE 7, but unlikely if its heavy use.
Moderate use: 10-14 or less, no more than 14.
Light: a day, and possibly more.

It was good for me but no as good as Trigger, but the rom that lasted more on a charge for me was Azura,it had incredible battery life.
I used to get 2+days battery life on mine when I was running previous version of Bionix. I can't recall which version it was, i think 1.2.0. It was when the froyo was released for the vibrant i believe january-febuary-ish. After flashing to 1.3.1, i can't get passed to 24hours anymore. Also all my settings, syncs, wallpaper (etc..),except the modem, kernel, and 2 scrabble apps, where similar. The KB1 modem was one of the culprits of the drain and i have it replace with the JK and KA variants (still testing which one is the best). KB1 was awesome with my gps locks though with almost 3 meter accuracy with 8/12 sats locked). The speeds were also like +1-2mbs depending on the location and this was tested with a friend that has JKx modem. Also google googles and the 3d gallery up was not shutting down the sensor server which was draining the battery hardcore. Until now I still havent been able to replicate how I got the 2days battery life. I could revert to the previous bionix version because i have a back up too but this battery issue is not really that of a problem.
Ok guys. I have to admit, I was about to give up on CM7 due to battery issues and what seemed to be memory leaks progressively making my phone lag more and more throughout the day. I have found something some of you may not be aware of and I wanted to share this amazingly helpful kernel with you.
Using x99, Scary, and stock kernels regardless of governor I seemed to maybe get 8 hours of battery life with moderate to heavy use. I am proud to say, using bcnice20's kernel I have had my phone on for 9 hours with 60% battery life today. This is incredible, even with lighter use on the other kernels I had NOWHERE near this amount of battery left.
Most of you may not have seen this kernel because it isn't posted. (as far as im aware) Let me help you out. First, go into your Market and download Kernel Manager. There is a lite version in there that is free. If you have an extra buck or two donate to the developer for making a neat app where you can download kernels in a convenient place by downloading the pro version.
What you will be downloading is called bcblend SIO tinyRCU kernel. I have not tried VR tinyRCU kernel yet. Not sure what the differences are, if someone could elaborate that'd be appreciated.
Regardless, I find the sweet spot for this to be at 245MHz min and 1GHz max on Interactive governor to work really well. The phone does not seem to get laggier throughout the day and consistently performs well, snappy, and just way better than the other kernels. (No offense to x99 and Scary, I appreciate all you've done!)
Give it a try and let me know if you all have similar results! I have heard that AOSP gets less battery than Sense ROMs from people on this very forum, and this may be the kernel to put that little debate to rest.
Oh, and be sure you have the latest CM7. I am on 7.0.2.1 trying this out.

Since CM7 lets you change governors right in its settings I uninstalled SetCPU for now, in theory I would think it would cause more battery drain but I don't know for sure. But yes I just changed it right in CM7. I changed the governor to interactive and set the max cpu frequency to 1036MHz.
Gonna try this out. I love CM7 but the battery is killing me. I pray this works.
Android system & cell standby seem to be the battery use culprit. I will give this a try though but don't really think its in the kernel. Ill report back...

This kernel seems to be really good about not sucking the battery while on standby for me, that seems to be the crown jewel of it all. Right Now I am at 14 hours off the charger with 29% left.. remember I was lucky to get 8 hours most days before using this kernel.

It seems to be true. I'm def getting better battery life. I also calibrated my battery but I've done that before without any major change. So far I have 5 hours of quite a bit of use and I'm at 71% I would normally be around 55-60% by now. I wonder what the main difference is with the kernel...

Yes, from what I have read, you have to use the kernel that comes with the rom.

Hopefully Netarchy will develop one that will work with this type of rom and we will be saved.

I tried that for a bit over the weekend...but there was something I did not like about it...cant remember now. I will have a go with it again to verify.
At the end of the day...we can develop superb ROMS that have flashy flashes, but if the battery/components cant take it, then we are still at a stand still.
my battery life is good most of the time, but it seems there are periods where it drops quickly. i think it drops when the market alerts me about updates to my apps. both times i've had quick drops, the market has been the top app draining the battery and has a notification of updates. i don't see an option to turn of notifications is this updated version.

No but the netarchy kernel I use works just fine with my King's Alliance GB. It's all in the UNIVERSAL kernel, I should say
I usually get 24 hours up time and 3 hours awake before I've got to pop in a charged battery. Normally change out at 20% to keep it from going dead on me when I need it most.

Some extended idling:
Cognition 1.13 with CF KG1 Kernel, Phone undervolted as in screenshot + GPU @ 750mV for both states.
Android OS still taking 1h15m CPU time in that screenshot, which, in my experience in this case is I *think* because of Skype running all the time there. Also Trillian connected to multiple services running constantly with Wifi.
I'm using Cognition 1.15 with modified 1.4 ninmphetamine kernel, very good battery life so far! (probably the best compared to villainrom and litening rom for me)
Having fixed my awake issue my battery life is reasonable but i expected betted with villainrom + nenphetamine custom + undervolt.
We need to guage some good comparisons id like to get an extended idle test dont know if i can leave my phone for that long. LOL
Btw How did you undervolt gpu?
Sent from my GT-I9100 using Tapatalk
I would stay away from these newer kernels like Nephetamine until they actually mature. I alslo tried some other custom kernels and they kinda drained the battery way more. So I'm sticking to a plain kernel like CF for the moment. Also seems better to stick to the normal ondemand governor.
Undervolting GPU via Tegrak Ultimate, it's worth it imho, especially since I basically shaved off 25% voltage without any issues.

I too flashed Villain rom (KF2) 2 days back and after flashing I get more battery drain compared to KF2 stock rom. android os is consuming 60% of battery.
BTW How can i see that graph thats shown above? is there any app for that

Just tap on the grey part, where it states the hours and minutes on battery, the graph will be expanded and shown...
I will post screenshots i took this morning 9 hours standby wifi off, background data off, auto sync off, everything else on, stock rom KF3, no freezing of anything
the result?
1%!! loss over 8.5 hours
for all those x10i users with very low battery life...u can try mokee os v0.3
on single charge my x10 ran for over 1d 5h
whereas i could never get beyond 14 - 16 hours on any other ROMs

so what are you doing with your phone ?
i'm on Wolfs v7, 14h and still 63% left! But i didn't use my phone. Just 2g connection active, checked fb and surfed internet for a total of 30 minutes.
When i use it normaly (thats having 3 email accounts with Active Exchange, FB sync every 2h, surfing the web for 30mins via 3g, and using Wifi for 30mins i get around 16h-17h and battery is down to 15-25%

I WILL RECOMMAND http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1686110 THIS ONE
I think the battery life was normal on MoKee 0.3.1 with cosmic kernel's
And this rom is so far the fastest rom that i tried out!

Sorry my bad english, u can help me correcting it in PM.
THANKS!
i was using it on fxp122 kernel
Atto The moment this rom is the best for battery draining. I made a screenshot about battery statistics using old version. Newer is not different. In any case for great stability and long battery life i suggest fxp 121 kernel.

i have auto sync off
use wifi and not gprs/3g data
and at night i keep my cell on night mode
most importantly the governor plays a great role in battery life
i am using ondemand governor with min freq 128 and max 998
this wroks for me giving a battery life for more than a day
Guys I'm on mokee the tork with kcernel and using smartassv2 128-998. Battery life is great, but performance on these settings is faster than anything I've experienced. The cpu tends to hang around 499 or 537mhz which is okay since 128-537mhz are at 1000 mV. So no battery drain and lightning fast performance!
thgo is nice kernal try
