i would trade my og evo for this perfect device. - EVO 4G General

I figured I'd make a wish list for the perfect phone that I would trade my og evo for.
A build like the tp2... Yes a physical keyboard
no need for a kickstands with tilting screen
Front camera
dual core processor
gig of ram
expandable memory up to 32gb
Sense 3.0
3d not necessary but cool
Unlocked bootloader
And I'd be happy
what would you trade your of evo for?

5 inch display quad core sense 3.0 uninstallible, fm transmitter so i can strean pandora in the car, uber quality camera on back

My perfect device is:
Same build as evo 4g
With power button a little bit popped out more and volume popped up more as well
1080 resolution super amoled plus screen, kickstand,4.5in,dedicated camera buttons, quad core processer with intense graphics capabilities for gaming, 16 gig internal, 4 gig ram,8meg camera(dual for 3D), 3meg front facing camera, expandable 32 gig SD,sense 3.0 ,radio that can handle every carrier like wimax,LTE,edge etc. And unlocked bootloader.
Edit: add Dolby digital sound with hdmi, gorilla glass, and music player with advance equalizer And digital dj, and that can unlock only with your retinal signature meaning by scanning your eye.

And the price tag????

I like the TP2's form factor as well. That might get a little big for my ideal phone since I'd be looking at around a 5" display, but I personally don't mind carrying around a bigger phone. Everyone said the TP2 was too big whenever I showed it to them, until the saw me play movies on it. And lots of reviewers thought the EVO would be too big before it was released. Nowadays it's almost the default size for a top of the line smartphone.
Other than that, I'll go with the suggestions above but add one feature: dual micro SDXC slots, with at least one of them accessible without removing the battery. SDXC just because my 32 GB SDHC card is getting full, and dual cards to make it easier to move files between devices and maintain spare data capacity. You could keep all your apps on one card, and any files / media that you might need to move around on the second one. That way if you've filled up your phone with music / movies / tv, you can carry a spare card in a micro SD reader on your keychain and have nearly as much media as you want with you at all times. and if you want to share with a friend, just swap out your micro SD cards and copy to your primary card.

How about something possible? ;D
Super amoled plus 4" screen
Gorilla glass
Aosp(Google phone)
8 or higher mpx camera(REALLY, REALLY good camera)
Dual led flash
Dedicated camera button, solid like evo 3d
Physical buttons, instead of capacatative
Chrome back
1.2 dual core Sammy chip
Sammy gpu
1750 mah battery
Rectangular phone(no curves)
Front facing 2 mpx camera
USB/HDMI port
SD card slot, accessible without removing battery
1 gb ram
And that's about my perfect phone. Closest I'm gonna get is sgs2
Btw is it possible to have retina resolution with super smiled plus? If so, I'd also want that
Deck's + SZ + SuperCharger script + ViperMod script.

What I believe possible by next September (when my upgrade is):
4.3 Super Amoled Plus screen - qHD or higher with good pixel density
Gorilla Glass
1.5 - 2 gigs of RAM minimum
(like Nokia N8) 12 megapixel back camera sensor (backlit) with Xenon flash and MyTouch 4G Slide's Instant Capture technology
3 - 5 megapixel front facing camera
AOSP Ice Cream Sandwich
Tegra (Wayne Series) clocked at ??? with its amazing GPU
SD slot accessible without pulling battery (SDHC-capable)
2-stage camera button
1750 mah battery
Motorola Photon's strong radio with LTE
Capacitive/Physical buttons are rendered useless in ICS, so don't need them
Industrial design - no curves, looks like a beast
Made by Motorola - metal/metal designing, no squeaking or light leakage, great build quality
Kickstand: stability of the Photon's (you can flip it over and it works) and the thickness of the Thunderbolt (I don't want some skinny little kickstand - peace of mind)
Flagship Nexus device.
On Sprint.
Unlocked bootloader.
Pure Power.

Exact Physical Architecture as the HTC EVO (button placement and physical build) 5in Super Amoled Plus screen w/ Gorilla Glass
2GB of RAM
12MP Camera and 5mp Front facing Camera
Tegra (Wayne Series) clocked at ??? with its amazing GPU
SD slot accessible without pulling battery (SDHC-capable)
2-stage camera button
1750 mah battery
Motorola Photon's strong radio with LTE
Capacitive/Physical buttons are rendered useless in ICS, so don't need them
Industrial design - no curves, looks like a beast

My dream phone would be....
-4.3 inch 720p Super Amoled plus gorilla glass screen
-Physical 5 row keyboard
-Nividia Kal-el processor
-Runs Cyanogenmod Stock
-12 megapixel amera
-front facing five megapixel camera

-2 gigs of ram
-32 gigs of storage (external) and 16 gigs (internal)
-World phone
-SD slot accessible without pulling battery (SDHC-capable)
-Build should be like EVO 4g
-micro usb + hdmi out
-LTE

A build like the tp2 with keyboard
4.5 inch screen qhd or better 3d maybe
Good Front camera and back dc as long as are better then EVO and 3d
dual core processor
gig of ram min
expandable memory up to 32gb
16 to 32 internal min
Sense 3.0 or pure Google as long as made by HTC
Unlocked bootloader
1 gig RAM min
Dual core 1.5 maybe 2 gig processor
With a awesome gpu
Standard 2600+ mah batt would be nice

Glad to see other posts here asking for a super high res 5" screen. I totally have room for more phone in my pocket. Would love to see HTC come out with something.
I would have gotten a Dell Streak, but I'm not interested in AT&T's nerfed data plans. I actually get better reception with Sprint too.

My dream phone is the evo4g with
1. Dual core processing
2. Blackberry battery life without looking like the hunch back of Notre dame
3. Rooted
4. Slim slide out keyboard like the Droid 2
5. Dedicated camera button
Sounds reasonable right?

Manufacturer: Samsung
Display: 4 inch, calibrated Super AMOLED+
Processor: 1.2 Ghz Dual-Core
Camera: Doesnt matter, I think the Nexus S's camera is good enough
Round corners, curves. Contour display.
1 GB RAM
16/32 GB ROM
SD CARD SLOT
4G
Build material: Plastic, but a little more grip at the back. Black.
The reason I am going for Samsung again, is because I like their hardware. As you can see the device I want looks like an upgraded Nexus S. I think the design of the Nexus S is fantastic, but a little more grip would do it for the back. Also, Super AMOLED+ got rid of many of the disadvantages Super AMOLED had, like PenTile. Only thing that bothers me is that the colors are a little bit too oversaturated. That is why I like LCD better, for now.
But it would be awesome if there was a way to calibrate the colors, so that you can choose normal (like Motorola Droid), oversaturated (like Galaxy S) or custom. That, with the advantages of LED, and no stupid PenTile, would be an awesome display!
Realistically, the next Nexus would probably be something like this:
Manufacturer: Motorola or HTC
Display: 4-4.3" 960x640 to 1280x720 resolution (either sLCD or sAMOLED)
CPU: OMAP4 or Tegra 2 for Motorola, QSD8672 for HTC (all dual core)
GPU: SGX540 for OMAP4, Adreno 220 for HTC
RAM: 1GB LPDDR-266
Storage: 16/32GB plus microSD
Camera: 8MP with flash
Misc: Dual mic, FFC, 4G, NFC, Wireless b/g/n, 1600mAh battery, ~9mm thick
What would I like to see (while still within the realm of reality)?
Manufacturer: HTC
Display: 4-inch 1280x720 (any sort of OLED, Sony is working on some nice displays)
CPU: Qualcomm MSM8960 (1.5GHz dual core)
GPU: Adreno 300 (200m+ tri/s)
RAM: 1GB LPDDR-400
Storage: 16GB (to keep costs down) plus mircoSD
Camera: 12MP microlense zooming with dual LED flash
Misc: Dual mic, FFC, 4G, NFC, Wireless b/g/n, 1800mAh battery, ~9mm thick
guys, what about a nexus from nokia?
now for me that would be a dream come true. the best combo of hardweare and softweare. it could be a great hit. i would love for something like this ro become a reality.
anybody agree with me on that one, or am i just a lone dreamer?...
on the other topic it was already said to be a joke only when he mentioned
but Nokia is indeed looking to partner up with other OS markers
but there are no solid confirmation if they are going one way or another
they basically opened the doors and are inviting prospective OS partners for their phones
don't be surprised to see a Nokia running Apple's iOS
but chances seems to be Nokia seems to be favoring Microsoft
however Android has the market dominance in the long run, it'll not be smart for Nokia to not choose Android and partner with Google
if they do, we'll most likely see "Nexus N"
I just hope the Nexus 2 will be made by a company with better outer casing

I guess so but there really is nothing bad with the shell of the NS. It only feels cheap because its glossy plastic. I've dropped my phone quite a few times and its never even chipped. I have no scratches on the screen or the back. I'm quite happy with the SNS and my only hope for the next Nexus is just that it be better than anything else on the market

EVO 2... what would u add? or remove

so if we actually do get an EVO 2 this summer, what more can we get on this phone to make it either a industry changer or a big hit.
i say
- remove the touch buttons we already have and expand the screen vertically while not having to enlarge the actual phone.. that way we are ready for honeycomb (or what ever the phone version OS is gonna be called)
- move the audio jack to the bottom of the phone
- way better battery life (even if it means thickening
the phone for a bigger battery)
- better hd video recording
- more internal memory and ram
- better display
- gorilla glass
last but not least
- quad processor ( might be exagerating dual should
be fine)
and maybe a few more things i can't think of right now
what do u guys want on this phone
s
ps: im broke but wouldn't mind paying $300 on a new contract for these upgrades.
ent from my EvoKnevil
Same form as the EVO, maybe closer to the Thunderbolt.
dual core
better GPU (MUCH BETTER)
at least a gig of RAM
a few gigs of ROM
4.3" Super LCD (please god don't let it have an amoled!)
higher res
That's it, I'm easy to please.
I'd love to have a SLCD, Gorilla Glass and either the headphone jack on the bottom or USB port on the top (just as long as they're together, I thought that was a great idea on the Galaxy S) but I don't agree with getting rid of the buttons. Even when they merge the tablet and phone branches of Android, I doubt the phone version will have the same virtual buttons. I could be wrong but I just don't see it happening.
We should hear something from HTC either at MWC next week (Feb 14-17) or CTIA next month (Mar 22-24). The EVO was officially announced during CTIA last year so that could be when Sprint announces its successor.
move the Micro sd card location
1. the new snapdragons
2. dual core
3. honeycomb AOSP
4. 5 inch SLCD/SAMOLED
5. full hdmi out
6. the laptop type dock (like the atrix)
7. 32gb inbuilt memory as well as sd card support
8. NFC
Sort of like dell streak, evo, and atrix combined into one big package, oh and with honeycomb :x

+1 for sure.
Even just one of these
-better battery life
-dual core
-put the usb port on the side of the phone maybe about 1/4 from the top or in the middle so that when you hold it horizontally the cable isn't between your fingers. Grrr, I hate that
-Dual-core processor for sure, maybe 1GHz but with the same performance as the Shift's.
-Honestly, the form factor of the Evo is quite well done, wouldn't change much, unless it's a bit thicker for a better battery.
-A better way to access the microSD.
-More internal ROM/RAM.
-NFC for sure, it's going to take over the world...
-(if there's room) a full-sized HDMI-out adapter.
-(and by extension) the GPU to support such a thing.
-Rooting without voiding warranties, plus RA Recovery manager built-in by default. [/sarcasm] (like that'll ever happen)
- Bigger battery (like twice capacity)
- GPU
- Amoled screen and gorilla glass
- same size screen or bigger ( I could never go smaller now)
- keep the kickstand
Sent from my device.
-NFC
-Noice Cancelling Mic
-Better Speaker
-Better Placement of camera
-Fix light leakage issues
-Higher Mega Pixel FFC
-Slide out Keyboard
-Unibody design

For those times when one is not enough.
What would I like?
1) 32 or 22 nm multicore low energy processor.
2) dual 4.5" screens - sliding a thin secondary screen.
from under the main. For those times when one is not enough.
3) ability to piggy back a battery pack. For those times when one is
not enough.
4) full bridge between wifi and service provider (Sprint). For those
times when one is not enough
OK imagine a pocket super "connector".
Lots of good ideas here.
Unfortunately I won't be getting an Evo 2 this summer (at a discounted price anyways) because Sprint downgraded my yearly upgrade perk.
That being the case, anyone want to guess what the Evo 3 (hopefully with a June 2012 release date) will be like?

moar gggggs!
how about a high quality build.
All these suggestions are great. In addition it would be great to have a kickstand that works for portrait and landscape imo.
Dual Core
3D screen
12 Mega pixel camera
3 mega pixel front camera
32 GB SD card
Projector capabilities
same size, but more pixels
dual core...
gpu, or something for better graphics
better hardware and software wich can make the battery last way longer
keep the 8m pixels in the rear camera, shake stability, etc
the evo has so much, why not add the ability to act as a desktop and just connect it to a screen, mouse and keyboard

I like the above, but also:
- better camera quality (not more megapixels, we have plenty); we need better image processing (software) and/or better sensor, cause what we have now sucks; it gives 8 megapixels a bad rep
- better GPU
- SLCD screen at higher resolution
- better battery management (i think 1500 is big enough, we can get it to work leaner)
- dual core processor
- ports (headphone/usb) on same side as others have said
- don't care about HDMI out, we'll be streaming wirelessly soon enough
I really think that all phones these days of superphone caliber should have noise cancelling mics, it's huge for talk quality.
my 0.02
The only things I care about are as follows.
1. Battery life (if this comes about by a low power consumption dual core, that's fine)
2. A better camera with a lens that isn't exposed.
By better camera, I don't mean more megapixels. Megapixels don't mean jack if the quality sucks. We have an 8mp camera that takes noisy, nasty pictures. I want a camera at least on par with the iPhone. I don't care if it's 3.2mp, make the quality better and THEN worry about MP.
Same form factor, or perhaps 4.5" max SLCD screen w/ gorilla glass
Tegra 2
HDMI out - mirror mode
Better battery life (I'd be happy with 50% better life)
Dual external speakers like Touch Pro 2
Dual mics for noise cancellation
Higher quality construction (metal body would be nice)
Stop the megapixel race with cam..... improve IQ by implementing better image sensor, overhaul image capture software. Make flash usuable in low light situations by increasing shutter speed and decreasing overexposed photos.
Better audio output via 3.5mm jack *lounder, cleaner*
Make internal FM radio antenna which can be used without headphones
NFC
More memory and support for SDXC.

What would be your perfect phone

Please say something reasonable and not a 16core
4"-4.1" SLCD screen

The Evo, maybe with the touch buttons a little lower and thus the screen a little bigger to fill that area.

Maybe a bigger battery if possible too.

Evo Successor:
-Same screen but better resolution and maybe Gorilla Glass
-NFC
-DLNA
-Louder Speaker
-Same touch buttons but make them auto rotate so when phone is in landscape they turn. I saw this feature on another phone that's coming out
-Fix the camera placement

-Full HDMI capabilities OTB
-Unibody Aluminum/Plastic Design
-Kickstand in the middle
-Sexier form factor instead of the standard squared look
-Better GPU
-More RAM
-More internal HD space

All of that plus:
- No bezel on the bottom or sides. Just a slight bezel on top for sensors, ear piece, and notification lights. Touch buttons incorporated into the screen.
- Thinnest phone on the market
- 3500 mAh slim battery
Two screens, glitchy firmware, two batteries, off brand manufacturer, thick as a dictionary.....still waiting.

My perfect phone...
Whatever it takes to make everyone happy so I don't have to read thread after thread after thread after thread after thread of people *****ing and moaning and whining and crying about why this phone sux and why that phone sux and why some futuristic yet to be developed technology isn't already in people's phones they bought last year. I guess it'd need to be equipped with a time machine so the phone can go into the future and equip itself with new technologies and then come back to present day. Oh, and it'd have to be sold by a brand new carrier since all US carriers suck so bad... and it'd need to be free.
Its pretty much the galaxy s2, my dreamphone if only the resolution was higher but its all good

HTC M9 / HTC Hima specs
The HTC M9 specs rumored leaked. Same specs as droid turbo. Those specs will be outdated by the time it comes out. They need to step up their game with Snapdragon 810, 16 ultrapixel cam 8mp front cam. 4k screen if possible prob not though. 64 bit processor, 3 gig ram 3gh 30% louder boomsound. I even emailed HTC about it today. I feel they should listen to people about what they need in a phone.

I could care less about the cpu processor at this point. it only can get so good with phones.. The cpu it have now is plenty fine . The camera needs updated, and work on the boom sound some more.
I could care less about a 4k screen
A phone does not need a 64gb processor
so:
-better camaera
-improve boom
-Improve screen
-larger screen
- it will be sweet if they could make the buttons on the side touch
that are just rumored specs, which aren't official yet so yea i assume the real specs will be different!

Who are you. HTC know what they are doing. Most people buy phones every two years, so they are catering to the people with m7s

Wow are you requesting a spaceship?
1- nothing is called M9 it's HIMA now.
2- No 4K screens yet.
3- bigger speakers bigger camera means way thicker phone.
4- 8MP on the front is #fail. You need something like Ultrapixel so image quality will be the same in sunlight and dark conditions. Even our 5MP front camera sucks in low light.

So you did a quick google search to find the first phoney website that reported user upgrade every 2 years. let alone, the article is dated JUNE 2011.. Failed!!! On so many levels
users now are updating every year, that is why tmobile, Verizon, sprint and ATT offers early upgrading. if it was not a niche for it companies would not be offering it
People are upgrading phones when ever they see one they like which is 6 months to 1 year
try again:silly:

Here's my sources http://www.trustedreviews.com/news/...2-inch-qhd-display-and-snapdragon-805-inbound
The Sony Z4 is supposed to be Snapdragon 810 so HTC should be doing 64bit soon since their mid-range is already 64bit.
HTC One M8
I really hope we are not forced to go above 5" if we want a flagship HTC phone.
Fingerss crossed for:
5" 1080p or QHD
8mp+ ultra pixel
805 sOC
2GB or 3GB ram
32GB minimum storage with SD support
minimum bezel (remove the HTC logo part)
Dual speakers
something like
5.2" would be perfect.

Honestly I don't see trend disappearing any time soon. Go figure a phablet in 2011-2012 with the original note was 5.3 now that is considered normal lol
I need
At least a 5.5 with thin bezels like LG.. (qhd wont really matter, apps are not optimized)
16mp/5mp
805/810
3GB RAM
Louder Boom Sound Speakers
Bigger Battery
32Gb/64Gb

No way, this might be the case in the US, Europe, Japan and smaller richer Asian countries but definitely not the majority of the people. It's not affordable for them which is precisely why Google wanted to change their tactics and bring out affordable devices that runs latest Android but at a cheaper price like the Moto G(?) and the Nexus devices(Even though it's not widely available). It's common fact that majority of the users of Android still use old Android versions(Honeycomb, Gingerbread, ICS). This is definitely true where I'm at as well, I see a lot of people with early Android devices, most of them walk with S3s, few people have the S4, S5, HTC One M8/M7 or Sony Xperia Z, Z2 haven't even seen anyone with a Z3.
It's not affordable for the majority of people on this planet and statistics like that should include everyone not just those from wealthy 1st world countries where buying a phone every 6months is the fashionable thing to do.
That being said, this entire topic shouldn't even be here, it should be in the OFF-Topic or general section(Not related to a specific device forum). So I just made my post before the close.

One plus one vs one plus 2 what do you think who is real flagship killer

Great specs and price, but lack of NFC and quick charge support doesnt make this device any flagship killer
Well, moto x style or pure is an better otion for a flagship killer
It got minor improvement over op1 nothing special.
-sd810: a lot of negative things, so sd801 still good.
-4gb ram: its nice to have but I always got 700mb free.
-finger scan: again its nice, but I always swipe to unlock.. much quicker.
-USB type c: reversible good but still slow USB 2.0
-Thicker and heavier.
-No NFC, quick charge, wireless charge, no OTG.
-No USF 2.0 still using eMMC as op1.
I think its a good phone for first time buyer.

Yes i don't think 1+2 is real flagship killer
What this mean IF YOU DON'T HAVE
NO OTG
NO FAST CHARGE
NO NFC
COPY CAT DESIGN OF SAMSUNG PHONES LIKE GALAXY XYZ SERIES EVEN OPO IS BETTER IN DESIGN THAN OPT
NO QHD SCREEN
MONO SPEAKERS
NO REMARKABLE CAMERA
IT WILL NOT EVEN MAINTAIN ITS CROWN OF FLAGSHIP KILLER FOR 2015 (THEY SAID ITS FK 2016)
IF THEY WILL ADD ABOVE FEATURES IT WILL BE REAL FLAGSHIP KILLER
BUT ANY WAY THROUGH XDA DEVELOPERS I THINK WE WILL GET SOME BENEFIT TO OPO
WHEN THERE WAS DEVELOPMENT OF OPT
MAINLY KERNEL VERSION I. E 3.10

No flagship killer... not even in the discussion.
In fact, their slogan, "Never Settle," should be taken down/ replaced.
Still a great value, but missing the mark in many ways. I think they lost their way with the fingerprint scanner. To keep the price low, that took away from other more desirable/ useful features (NFC, Wireless Charging, QHD, higher pxl density camera, significant battery life).
This might be built more for the international market more than the US market. The Moto X Style/pure looks like the better choice for the US market.

both could be an option, but both is not an option at the same time.
What I mean to say is that, the OnePlus One itself is a flagship killer for 2014. True. For 2015 it does hold up on its own (though you have devices such as LG G3, the OPPO Find 7, and I think xiaomi mi note, if you can get it without the bloated price)
But if you take 2015 phones as a basis, the OnePlus Two isn't a flagship killer, because either it never was, or got dethroned by Motorola Moto X Style.
im more concerned about their refusal to scrap the completely ridiculous invite system, after the amount of grief they got last time and the amount of people put off from buying the phone as they were not prepared to wait months they've gone and done it again and come out with nonsense like plenty more invites, well they weren't bankng of getting over 2 million requests so they'll never be able to accommodate all those people, ok some might be multiple email signups but i estimate at least 65% are genuine,
My OPO still running perfectly but at this stage i need a new phone, id love an S6 Edge but poor battery life and ridiculous price tag has put me off, but certainly i wont be waiting months for a 1 + 2 invite so ill be searching elsewhere, maybe Huawei or something.

You're right, not a flagship killer at all... Which makes sense considering it's half the price or less than the premium flagships out there. Just a good buzz word.
As for the Moto phones being good for the US market: I decided on the OPO over the previous Moto/Nexus 6 phones because of build quality problems. I know the OPO had its own issues, but I'd probably trust more in the early releases of the OP2 than these new Motos.
As for right now, I just replaced the LCD and housing on my OPO. I'm in no rush for the OP2, but wouldn't be against it if my invite gets sent out in the next couple months.
Neither ever was a flagship killer lol. These devices are for low budget people. 1+1 always had crappy screen. That yellowish urine at the bottom was hardware issue. While the 1+2 is biggest joke of the year. Whenever I see it get compared to real flagship devies I keep laughing.

Low budget peoples means
My opo is 6 month old no problem at all in software or hardware
Peoples who are complaining yellow tint and touch issues got faulty handsets
PEOPLES WITH OPO=LOW BUDGET PEOPLES
Its not true its because of thinking
YES IT IS TRUE THAT QUALITY OF HARDWARE IS NOT TOPNOTCH LIKE ON SONY/SAMSUNG BUT ITS NOT SO LOW QUALITY
but it has software quality is topnotch
and though we purchased most Premium devices like sgs6 iphone they don't have removable battery its going to die in few years about 5-6
So you have to change your device
so why to pay 50% more bucks when OPO will reach its limits like Premium devices
Open development vs close development software.
I jumped the gun and ordered a oneplus 2. After using it for a few weeks, I went back to my oneplus one. So much better. On the oneplus oneone, software is more stable and smoother, battery life is MUCH better, vibration motor is better, speaker is louder, phone is lighter, edges of phone aren't slippery, phone is much more comfortable to hold, back is flatter so doesn't wobble around on tables when typing, stereo speakers, no useless fingerprint scanner, faster charging, no notification switch that toggles in your pocket. The oneplus one really is the 2015 flagship killer it was advertised to be, but boy does the 2 disappoint.
Well I got a OP2 invite yesterday..
And after doing my normal xda thread reading....
I opted to buy the 64gb OPO and let the OP2 invite expire...
Of course my 64gb bamboo moto x Pure had a small part in my decision
I still think oneplus one really a value proposition . First is its price and second is its features. Although OPT is good enough to beat OPO but later is not a flagship killer mainly because OPT does not have NFC plus some software related issues , which OP need to rectify to be called as flagship killer.
Oneplus one is a beautiful device with CM ....myself used Nexus 4 ,5 for 4 years...bought OPO 1 month back...
