I am using Sony Ericsson Operia X8 with FroyoBread 0.23b final. I can import my contacts from SIM to Phone but don't know how to Export it back to my SIM card. So please anyone help me!
Search for "Contact2Sim" in market, that one works good for me.
1. Go to "Contacts"
2. Press the "menu" key (the left one)
3. Choose "Import/Export
4. Choose Export from SD
5. Choose you latest .vcf-file and after a few seconds, you should have your contacts again.
6. There is no "6."

Hi,
I have lost all my contacts on outlook, and on my ppc , the only way to have it back is by trying to extract it from .stg file saved on my PC. I have tried to use STGviewer which can extract individual files from an ActiveSync backup, but STGviewer doesn't allow restore of anything in the Pegasus Database, derictory where Contacts Database folder is stored. How can I do it???
HELP!
Thanx!
have you googled for a program which could access the Pegasus Database and you could extract the data yourself and type it into outlook and sycn with your device and then
from now on export the outlook *.pst file as a backup
Try this...
http://hometown.aol.com/anyware/wce/MobileVault/download.htm
I had a very similar problem and this program was the only one that worked.
Before starting the steps below place your XDA in the cradle and wait for it to sync.
Steps;
1. Install attached software
2. Run MobileVault from 'Start > Programs > MobileVault > MobileVault'
3. Click on the'File' menu and then 'Open'
4. Browse to 'My documents' and select 'backup1.stg'
5. Once file has opened click on '+' next to the small computer icon in the left hand panel
6. Click on 'WinCE Databases' folder
7. Right click on the 'Appointments Database' in the right hand panel and select 'Restore to Desktop'. This will pop-up a window, select the desktop and then click 'Ok'
8. Repeat step 7 for the 'Contacts Database'
9. On your desktop a new folder will have been created called 'WinCE Databases'. There will be two files - send these both to me.
10. Repeat steps 7-8, but this time select 'Restore to Mobile Device'. In theory this should restore them to your pda.
If step 10 doesn't work, then;
11. Remove the xda from the cradle
12. On the xda, click on the start menu and select 'ActiveSync' (if its not in the menu it will be in the programs option)
13. Select the 'tools' menu at the bottom of the screen and then select 'Options...'
14. Click on the 'Options...' button, and untick the 'Enable PC sync using...' option beneth the 'When cradled' text.
15. Click on the 'Ok' to the top right of the screen, and then repear for the next screen, finish by clicking on the 'X'
16. Now place the XDA back in the cradle - it shouldn't sync now.
17. Repeat step 10, and see it it works. Fingers crossed!!
Good luck...

hey guys, i know this thread is old, however I need your advice for this problem. I have used Mobilevault in the past to restore my databases, however, when I tried to do this today, I encountered the application has been changed completely, not allowing me to do the restore. Am I right by saying there is no way to restore the databases? This would leave me really upset! Not everyone wants or is able to use Outlook to manage Contacts, so it really should be Microsofts duty to provide a solution regarding this.
Hi i am trying to copy all contacts at once to the sim card, like i used to with the mda 1, 2 and 3. I know i can copy them one by one, but that cannot be the solution. Any ideas ? Regards, The Modifier.[/u]
itd be great if someone vould find a solution to this as i realy need to copy my 200 contacts to sim and i sont want to do it one by one
many thanks
guys press ctrl + a to select all (highlighted) tap the screen for few secs. then chose save to sim.. hope this helps
Can you keep all the detail from contacts in WM5 when saving them to a sim? I thought all the additional info would be lost if you managed to save them to sim?
Regards
ive used the cntrl a function but all the contacts are not highlighted. and even if they were there is no option by holding down the stylus to copy all to copy to sim card. this could be because iv installed the latest i mate rom.
thanks for any help regarding copying my sim contacts to simcard ofr a permanent backup.
Is there any way to transfer my contacts from my sim card to my phone memory, or my memory stick?
Thanks!
You can do that through the Sim Manger application. there should be a shortcut in the Programs menu. if you have deleted the shortcut it should be under the \windows directory. You can select all of the contacts there and use the menu to select "save to Contacts"
Thank you very much . Is there anyway to transfer from phone to simcard just in case I need to switch my phone?
Yeah, that's the question.
use this freeware to select all contacts and copy them to sim card
Thank you so much, just what I needed, I'll give it a try.
Oh, BTW, does anyone have an idea how to edit your contact's information via computer? I've tried but I can't seem to figure it out. I find it a really big hassle to edit everyone's information through my 8125 because I just transferred them from the sim card so I only have their names and numbers. I have a lot of contacts. :? Thanks if anyone can help.

You can do it through MS Outlook>Contacts. Sync and edit, and sync again. I use Outlook 2003.
Oh, so simple, thank you! I tried it before but I was using Outlook Express so I guess it didn't work.
to sync data from OE you would need 3rd party software like

This is a link to their FAQ page.

Thanks lot for the tip. Very useful.
There is another trick for those who have access to internet on their SIM card (3G). Here is what you have to do:
1- When you get to the Welcome Screen (with the logo "Android" and the message "Touch the android to begin" ), press the menu botton
2- if "APN Settings" will popup then go to 5
3- if "Wfi Settings" Pops Up: click on it.
4- Now click on "Access Point Names"
5- Click on the menu botton again and you'll see New APN, click on it
6- Configure your 3G settings and click the menu botton again to save the changes.
Click the "Back" botton to go back to the welcome screen.
click on the "Android Logo" then "Next"
Now either you enter a gmail account or create one, it will accept it and take you to the menu at the end.
Hope i helped

i know there are deffinatly numbers there before a load up this rom when using the energy rom it picks up all numbers from my sim perfectly
can anyone help?
Hi, Try this, and it will work:
If you do not see your SIM contacts then follow the instructions below:
************************************************** ***************************
If you are using an existing data.img then you will need to delete the one that you are currently using, and copy over a fresh data.img that is included with this build. If this is your first time booting this build, then this does not apply to you.
- Open the phone app and dial this code in: *#*#4636#*#*
- You should now see a list of menus, choose the one named Phone information.
- Scroll down to the bottom of the page and press the 'Turn off radio' button. Wait for your signal to drop.
- Now press the 'Turn on radio'. Wait for your signal to be restored.
- Now change 'Set Preferred Network Type' to GSM/CDMA auto (PRL).
After doing this, return to the home screen (press the Home hardware button on your HD2) then open the phone app again and follow the instructions on how to import your contacts as described earlier.
YOU CAN ONLY DO THIS ON YOUR FIRST BOOT. YOU MUST KEEP THIS IN MIND.
i have booted up and been using the rom for a number of days now so does that still apply to me?
You can try. I think it will work. If not do everything from begininig. Good choise. Very good rom.
yea the rom is fantastic....
i have thought about starting from scratch but dont want to lose/download all apps again as i have loads
