[Q] Why can't I flash ROMS properly? - GT540 Optimus General

Hey guys. I'm kinda new to this so forgive me if I say something wrong or confuse you guys. So I bought my Gt540 on ebay. Little did I know that it was branded by a Portuguese company called TMN. So I decided to flash my phone with different ROMS with the kdz updater. Essentially I wanted to unbrand it. So every time I flashed it with a different ROM other than the branded TMN ROM I keep getting errors such as com.android.phone and com.android.settings has stopped unexpectedly. The phone error would constantly pop up. The settings error would pop up when I would access the settings. When I flash it with the original TMN ROM the phone works perfectly but with all the excess bloatware. I also tried the goldcard thing and I don't even know if that works for this phone or not. also when flashing the ROMS my applications would still be there afterwards even my settings are intact. The roms i've tried are all v2.1. I've spent many hours trying to unbrand this phone and install a generic ROM on it, so a point in the right direction would be nice. Thanks.

why dont you flash a fastboot enabled kdz then install recovery and CM7

Wipe
Have you fully wiped your data?

Fastboot?
I think you need fastboot for it (not sure).
To go to fastboot, you need to hold the camera button while turning on your phone (when the LG logo comes up). If the screen becomes blank, then you've entered fastboot mode. More info can be found at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=802895. It has a ROM that has fastboot, so you can flash that. (The thread provided is not only for the update for Android 2.1 but for fastboot also).
Sorry for unnecessary additional post.

[Q] Can't echange due to ROM update

Hi Guys, I have had this phone for around a week now. I have it rooted and installed a T-mobile ROM. The problem I am having is that I cannot do the 3 button trick. I have been browsing the forums and everyone who is having this problem is told to exchange it.
Since I have a different ROM, and accidentally wiped my phone during the install not very smart on my behalf). My phone boots up with this ugly pink "stick together" logo and irritating sound.
Is there a download where I can change it back to the original one that came with my Bell?
I originally posted this in the Vibrant section and realized that more Bell users were over here in the forum. Sorry for the double posting.
ayy yai yai viejo... this is complicated.
Where are you in Canada?
try these methods that people have tried,
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=754673&page=3
some of them worked, some of them not, but still should try it, to at least get it to Download mode, so you can flash it back to the stock JG9 or JH2 ROMs
I am unable to do the three button trick, but through ROM manager I can load other ROMs. I just don't know where I can download a stock ROM?
I am located in Calgary, Alberta.
good, at least you got that working
go to the ROM Manager topic in Development section and ask for help there for the ROM that you need to fix the phone.
Thanks for your input guys, I actually ended up taking at back and told them I accidentally loaded the wrong ROM. And without the three button enabled I was unable to flash it back to the proper ROM. Thus killing two birds with one stone. And now I have a device that has the 3 buttons enabled.
nice! good to hear that

Problems with update 2.3.4. My phone wont turn!!!

I tell you I unlock it first, then I had problems with some widgets and I learned some new updates.
Then, I made a backup with Sony_Ericsson_Backup_and_restore.
After searching, I root my phone with "GINGERBREAK" downloaded from the internet (GingerBreak-v1.20) and finally settled "Titanium Backup" to remove some applications from my operator, then install the CLOCKWORDMOD (do not know what for) and and finally I started to flash ...
After root, flashing with FlashTool_0.2.9.1.
I suggested steps for flashing and inserted this update: "LT15i_4.0.A.2.368_Generic Global", with "wiped ...", which is to delete everything and set it to zero ..
Normal work for me ... I sent version 2.3.2 to 2.3.3 (thinking I would send to 2.3.4). It was great ... Then I appeared a notice of samsung (on phone), to install version 2.3.4 (4.0.1.A.0.283 I think it was that number) and when it started to install warned me he was going to shut down, spent 6 or 7 minutes and not lit. I tried to turn it on and vibrated, then vibrate him again and try to turn rang again, but soon ...
Then I could not turn ...
Once this happened I was like crazy trying to fix the COMPANIOM, but nothing ...
I flash again, this time with this "LT15i_4.0.2.A.0.42_ (1247-1041). Ftf" but did not recognize the flashtool as the first time coming out of the mobile code when you open the program loads and displays the model number of the phone, it did not appear.
Finally, press flash and began. (To this already, before, try reinstalling the Global LT15i_4.0.A.2.368_Generic where my computer does not recognize, nor giving flash, just not recognized out in red letters)
When flashing with the latest LT15i_4.0.2.A.0.42_ (1247-1041). Ftf, the normal flashing until the end. But my phone just did not work. The light that was on the side of my phone was green ...
I sent a technician and he said he could not ....=/
I hope you can help and serve as a case to be resolved.
Thank you very much, good luck!

[Q] Strange touch behaviour after Stock Rom flash and root befor

Hi there,
I realy need your help on my problems with the G2 32GB D802.
I bought it on ebay and instead of getting it from GB it came from HongKong and I didn't think about it that it does not have a european ROM.
First I wanted to root and flash custom recovery and cloudyG3 rom. After rooting with ioroot and installing the TWRP I stuck in the fastboot mode. First problem I did not make a backup because I never reached TWRP. Download mode only appeared for a second an then disappeared again.
After a lot of searching I found that probably the 802autorec.apk was wrong, since I don't have a european model. So I installed via fastboot a laf.img for a D800. After that the download mode was working again and I installed different roms via flashtool2014. The installation worked again but after rebooting the phone I had a lot of trouble with it. That the reason for trying different roms as I sad befor.
First, the fingertip points at different areas of the screen but not there where you are touching the screen. So you can not reach the buttons or write on the keyboard.
Second, after connection to pc I recognized that my 32GB model had only 10GB internal memory.
Finaly I can not use the phone. For me it seems that I burned my partitions and need your help to get it right again.
Please give me a chance.
Best regards an thanks for helping me.
p.s.: I tried to go to the settings menu in the phone and reached it after a lot of confusing taps on the screen. All the phones informations like IMEI and all the other disappeared. Something realy went wrong with it.
No one an idea how to get back to normal?

I now have the answer from the dealer that my G2 has the Firmware D80220B.
Just try and test it. Good luck.
@Angryyolk
I just ask myself how to enter engeniering mode?
Thanks for your help.
I walked one step forward now.
But there is still no solution for my problem. I found a link to LG "http://csmg.lgmobile.com:9002/csmg/b2c/client/auth_model_check2.jsp?esn=IMEI" to get the information about the version of my stock ROM. Just replace IMEI by your real number and you will get it.
In the meantime I flashed the rom with flashtool but the screen behaviour is still the same.
I later rooted the phone with towleroot and then installed the correct autorek.apk for the D802. That worked properly. I reached TWRP but in fact of the weired screen behaviour I couldnt do something. I tried to fix my IMEI problem with QPST but this tool showed only empty tables on my PC when I connected my G2 with usb.
I tried an update of the screen firmware as posted above. The code that has to be entered on the dialer is 3845#*802# but it wont work for me since I can't enter "settings" the service menu. That's because of the weired behaviour.
Beste regards
I now was able to enter the hidden menu. And I was able to get to the menu point "update touch firmware" but nothing happend.
What is wrong?
touch screen problem
The same problem occurred on my phone. how did you do it. please help.
I installed the software and touch screen freaked out.
It's because its a Refurbished Models..
You have to check your Mother board for exact Model

S4 DUOS, GT-I9502, can´t finish “Odin updating” even for stock roms

Hi everyone, I´m really pissed about that issue; I´d really appreciate any help and thanks in advance to you all.
Story: I was using Sva´s rom for kitkat, everything normal, then I´ve seen Sasikas´s for lollipop and decided to try it out. I flashed the original firmware and then the custom, both via odin, used them normal as usual. For some reason, I decide to compare the new sva´s, also for lollipop and when I tried to flash, THE ISSUE BEGAN!
Issue: after doing the normal odin process, when the message “complete” shows up and the phone reboots, the bar of updating progress stop about 25% and the phone reboot to the normal mode, but only with a black screen. This is the screen I´m talking about: 3w generacionandroid.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/09/Android_updating.jpg
What I already tried and it didn´t work:
1 – factory reset after the “boot”; I think the problem is that the “system isn´t being write” so …
2 – different roms, both custom and stock; something interesting about this is that the point of the bar that resets the phone varies according to the rom I use, just as follow:
Rom lollipop: at 25% of the bar the system restarts;
Rom kitkat: the bar jumps from 25% to the end and boots the system until Samsung logo. I noticed that the carrier logo sound is cutted in the end.
I can freely install any recovery and enter dl mode.
By the way, the bootloader file must be flashed at pda or bl in odin?
Flash the bootloader file in the BL slot.
about the bootloader...
I´ve installed a bootloader to try the new lollipop in sva´s rom, maybe because of this I can´t flash anymore? I´ve found this info about bootloaders, could someone tell me if I´m thinkg right about it?
"In literal terms, bootloader is code that is executed before any Operating System starts to run. "
This way what I need is a bootloader for kitkat or previous? Where can i find it?
cry for help
almost givin up...
so, happy new year to everyone, I´ll wait until January to check any replies, otherwise selling for parts. ='[.
Shortening: I can enter recovery and dl mode BUT not getting to install roms;
I know I fixed selinux permissions once and installed a bootloader said to be to install a version of lollipop, that´s all new stuff I did.

Bootloader, root, Stock ROM and other issues!

Hello!
I've recently got into a big problem while doing stuff I don't know much about (and probably in the wrong way, because of that...). So, let's get to the problem, shall we?!
Well, I wanted to root my Moto G4 Plus (XT1640) but I had never done anything like it, so my phone was basically the way it came out of the factory. Before all of this, my phone was using Nougat 7.0.1 (I do OTA updates). I installed TWRP and followed the steps (even some from this forum). However, at that point my phone was boot-looping in the screen "Your bootloader has been unlocked, your device can't be trusted. Your phone will boot in 5 seconds.". Despite the warning, my phone didn't boot. After a while, screen got black and the only way I could use the phone was while in the bootloader. Then, I've made wipes through the Recovery, hopeful that it'd help, but it didn't. Finally, I surrendered and went looking for an original stock ROM I could flash and maybe get things working again. Found SOME ROM that's probably the right one ("XT1640_ATHENE-RETBR_MPJ24.139-50_cid50_subsidy-DEFAULT_CFC.xml.zip") (I'm from Brazil, btw). Great, downloaded, followed steps in the forum to flash it, great, it boots again! Can login to Google, default settings stuff, etc... HOWEVER.
Then, with my phone working again, I wanted to get rid of the nasty boot screen that said my device can't be trusted, etc. So I looked it up and tried to reflash the same stock ROM as above, but now doing it so I could re-lock the bootloader. To do that, I repeated the flashing commands but added the command "mfastboot oem lock" at the end (also used "mfastboot oem lock begin" as the 1st command). Then the CMD said I had to retype the command to apply. Did that, but then the following message showed: "Waiting for signed boot.img, enter the command again" or something like that (didn't printscreen, sorry). Then I reentered the command a 3rd time and then it said "Please flash a signed ROM" or something. So, basically, it failed. After that, repeating the command just showed the last message again. Unhappy, but hopeful, I entered "mfastboot reboot" to reboot my phone. So, got back into the phone (still with the nasty "Your bootloader has been unlocked" warning) and then I basically gave up. I'm now trying to install an OTA update (for Nougat, since the ROM I installed is 6.0.1) but the WiFi download is REALLY slow (and the problem is not my internet, since I've tried downloading a couple of files in my PC to test it).
So my biggest fear is that I have a ROM that's not REALLY meant for my phone (despite looking EVERYWHERE for it) and that's causing problems with the WiFi. Maybe the OTA update is just slow in the server-side, but I'd like to know. Is there a way to get the ROM I got when I bought the phone (that EXACT SAME ONE)?! I wonder if there's a problem because of Motorola/Lenovo regional things. Otherwise, the phone works (gets 4G signal, making calls and downloading Play store updates is as far as I've tested for now). And I would also like to know if there's a way to relock the bootloader in my case(since when I tried those errors I've mentioned above happened)? What I seemed to have done is downgrade a version (since I was in Nougat and then installed a stock ROM that's 6.0.1) and I don't know where to go from here. Thanks a lot, guys! Sorry for the long post, I just wanted to describe the events in order.
There is no official source for you to get a rom. This is not a nexus. I wonder why people always want to relock bootloaders! (it seems in your case only for the 5 seconds warning). As far as i know only modem can differ but roms...
Do you still have TWRP?
if so: if you are on an N modem right now try to flash an N custom rom. If you are on an M modem flash an M custom rom.
KEEP YOU BOOTLOADER UNLOCKED and also:KEEP "OEM UNLOCKING" in developers options ENABLED AT ALL TIMES! (the last step will prevent you from a 72 hours lockout from your Google account.)
There are other ways to get rid of the bootloader warning. (flash a custom logo.bin)
