That's quite cool and maybe useful to the devs working on the sensation port. Because its sense 2.1 but with the 3.0 lockscreen. What's the screen resolution on the chacha and the espresso?

Excellent. Think I'll work on porting it over to G2 tomorrow since it's my day off!

Hey! phsyched to find out you are porting the 3.0 lockscreen for the Desire Z/G2! How did it go? Would I just flash this on top of the virtuous rom? Anyways can't wait to here back from you and see how it all works out, thanks for the hard work (even though its you day off)!!!
Good luck on this I want

It's cool that it's working there, but any chance some one can port just the lockscreen so we can flash it on top of Virtuous? I need a rom that works 100%, thats a big reason on why I'm still using Virtuous.
Rooted HTC Vision/G2 running Virtuous v1.0.2
Old G1 that I don't use anymore...
well no one has ported it yet theyre all working hard on the sensation rom, some say its not even possible to port it to sense 2.1 roms however i think that since the took it from a sense 2.1 rom it has to be possible...im also dying to have it on a stable rom but all we can do at the moment is wait

It is very unlikely that the lockscreen will be ported to sense 2.1. the version of sense which the cha cha rom runs is a version of sense 2.1 with the same style lockscreen as 3.0 the sense 3.0 lockscreen wasn't ported to it. So there may be a chance that the cha cha locksreen could be ported but the resoloution is all wrong and would need to be scaled up. Given the challanges involved in changing the resoloution I dobut any one would want to give it a go.

thanks for the clarification Chris
Yeah, that does make things more clear. The senseation rom would be awesome to have it it worked 100%. And im sure that when it's at that point I will use it.
well for those who want to try out sense 3.0 heres another port http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1054412 its still not stable but its much more stable than the sensation port
It doesn't really look like the standard htc sense 3.0, but it did have the widgets.
Its tje expresso version of sense which is tmobiles sense or something like that, its ok it has the 3d animations and the cool lockscreen with the rings (except the 4 icons don't show up.... yet)

Well Im sure I just need to be patient, we need to be grateful of our developers and they will eventually figure something out.
Do you think custom ROMs will allow us to have HTC's Sense UI 3.0 on this phone?

I'd love to have it, with the recent reports showing the horsepower that it have coupled with Sense 3.0 that would be the perfect phone to have
If people want the HTC Sense experience then they should look at a HTC Phone. Although a Port is possible, its very time consuming and by the time someone actually port's it over with all the drivers working, your device will be close to the yearly refresh and you will want the next best thing. This will leave the developer in a limbo where his efforts didnt truly pay off.

It's not possible, Galaxy S is half baked, Nexus S also try, half baked. Samsung uses totally different structure on android Nexus S can't even port TouchWiz and its the same manufacturer. I would love to get S II spec wise it blows the Sensation out.

Id say its all about taste. Personally I think motorola's UI is the worst, followed closely by the apple wannabe touchwiz. Funny, I actually hated sense as well at first, but now that im using it for a while, I LOVE IT.
Also, its because htc has added soooo much functionality, like finding/wiping/ringing from anywhere(laptop) incase its lost, or stolen, etc. Plus auto-backup of messages, apprx 100 very useful widgets, plus may apps wich save you a lot of time if you had to download one by one. Basically, its a complete package that looks good and offers functionality that no other manufacturer can even come close to, especially being built in from start. no headaches. I myself wish it could be ported but I doubt, especially with how "involved" its gotten lately

I had a Galaxy S, then Atrix and now Inspire. Next I'm buying Galaxy S II because the bootlogger is unlocked and I want the light weight, dual core processor power and video enhancements.
The Inspire is amazing. I like it far better than the Atrix because I can put custom roms on it. I was able to root the Atrix and do a few modifications but it was very limited. I strongly recommend the Inspire.
The Sensation is locked down as is the Atrix. If you want a good out of the box phone Atrix is as good as you get until the Galaxy S II arrives. Sensation will be great but probably about the same as the Galaxy S II.
It is hard to recommend a phone without knowing what you do with your phone. For me the unlocked boot logger is the difference between buying and not buying.
Personally I prefer Sense.I think that Samsung have basically copied the iPhone in design and UI. If someone could remove the native Samsung bloat and add sense, all would be good in the world(for me at least)

I think we can. If enough people that have bought a SGS2 ask for sense then I am sure someone(developer) will be willing to design it for SGS2. From what I have seen of custom roms so far, I think that there are some more than capable developers out there that could do it. If I could write code I definitely would(perhaps I should start learning. The only question is can an old dog(me) learn new tricks?????)
Now that HTC has open sourced the Sense 3.x can we now please port it over so that it works correctly. I think this will really help once Google makes sense the standard interface. And yes i own an epic 4g, but find that sense 3.x blows away tw 3.x

I really don't think people understand what they read when it comes to words like "open" and "SDK".
HTC did not give out the source code for HTC Sense 3.x. All they did was create an SDK so that developers could call Sense API's and integrate their programs further into the HTC Sense framework. I am no developer, but I hardly see how that makes it a lot easier to port sense over to our phones.
I guess the Search is broken again... /s

i though as part of GB builds that the file system must be ext4. so how would samsung be able with GB to use RFS which is Really Fuc.ed System? Ext 4 is so much faster wvwn with journaling on.
NOTE:I'm not a developer, I'm just trying to encourage/gather them to work on a port!!
EDIT: Seems like no-one dares to try porting Sense 3.5 to Defy, so let's try Sense 2.2!!! With a newer kernel and Sense 3.0/3.5 apps.. Shouldn't be harder than porting Sense 3.5
Motorola Defy has become a really impressive phone, and many are users of this phone..
So maybe we all want something..
Something completely different other than MIUI, CM7 and Moto roms..
Something like... SENSE UI!!
So let's try to regroup Developers (if you know any, tell them about it!)... To Tell them to port Sense UI. To take up the challenge... and make the Defy a more impressive phone..
There is already an existing Project, but has been paused (iaio72 is already in it): [ROM][23-feb-2011] DefyFroyoSense v0.1 (mcm_xyz edition)
I know it's quite a big request XD.. But, please..
NOTE: To Developers who are ready to help, post "Let's work on it!"
NOTE: Those who want to help but are not Developers, post "I'm ready to help!"
When there will be ~10 developers. The project SensationDefy or whatever you want to call it XD will begin!!
Note that any developer who want to help even if the project has begun are welcomed
Thanks for your kind contribution, if any. And don't forget, show your desire to get Sense UI by posting!!

Right now, we just stick with a stock rom, which is logically easier to port than custom rom.

Hi
I tried all the recent phones for hours in the stores throughly and found that HTC sense UI is the best, fast and Attractive amongst all, So come on all Devs go get it
I am Thinking about some generous package for Team
Thanks
Urvish
Indeed, Sense UI looks great and has some really nice tweaks HTC added. I know the internals of the Defy are pretty different from the components HTC uses. But some months ago I was using the already existing Sense port which hasn't seen an update for quite some time now (but it was working flawlessly) and I wonder if it would be so hard and completely different to make a similar port with a newer version of Sense.
But ok, I'm not a developer, I'm curious if something will happen, it would be great, but for now my Defy is very usable.

MiUi is mimics iOS5.x almost in every fashion. If you were to lay a iOS theme on it, and did a screen shot no one would know the difference.
Resolution
MiUi sounds like a great mimic, and I'm going to give it a try. But is there any way to make it the primary operating system of a phone like the Droid X? What is the fundamental difference between the phones that is preventing migration?
Try iLauncher by SUCKGAMONI on the Google Playstore. If you want the MIUI launcher here it is:View attachment MIUI_Launcher_3.1.apk

I am only asking out of curiosity and not out of a desire. I know that ios is not open source so making an ios rom is not realistic, but if super hacker really wanted to, could he or she make it work some how? Or what about a program which could sniff out the source code for closed source platforms?
I am very happy with Android no desire for iPhone(unless free) just asking

i dont think it would be too hard to port for a pro, the problem would be with drivers. how will iOS know what to do with your htc/samsung/etc hardware?
Theoretically, given unlimited amount of time and unlimited determination, one could make such a port work, at least partially.
Practically, given different HW of those phones, the amount of time and determination required to port anything newer than iOS3 are close to insane - unrealistic enough for anybody to want to do it.
If one were to say make a port of ios, would it be illegal to release it being that ios is closed source or would this fall under fair use? More than likely Apple would sue who ever released it lol
