I have just reset my phone countless times and I always get the sd card icon above the cell indicating there is not external memory. I entered settings and I select the option "Mount sd card", it loads and reads the memory but the phone quickly Unmount the SD card, if you can help me I would appreciate it... regards
There's a captor behind and insinde the phone for sd card. Make sure you have close the back of the phone.

yeah the phone is designed to auto unmount the sd card if the cover isn't on properly.
Make sure you have the back cover clicked in or your sd card will never mount.
And are you using still using the stock sd card or did you buy one?

I'm having SD card issues. Suddenly the SD card isn't recognized; certain folders/files don't show up in the file manager. I also get a message when opening the camera, stating, "Please insert an SD card before using the camera." If I remove, then re-insert, the card reappears, but I get an error message that I removed it improperly. It reverts back to the initial problem soon after.
Please Help!!!
Unmount the SDcard,
Settings> SD card & storage > Unmount SD card
from there you'll click Format SD card..
You'll lose any data you have but since the card isnt reading anyways there isnt much else you can do to fix that.

This issue isn't a constant one; it reads the card properly most of the time. Is reformatting the only solution to this problem, or is there anything else I can try?
Well if it reads it some of the time the it seems like its a sd card slot that's the problem and not the card... MyTouch's have had some problems with fault sd card slots. You might look into sending it back to HTC and having it repaired seeing as it's most likely a hardware issue.

that blows! i've only had the phone a couple months. this issue started happening recently, not the entire time i've had the phone. is there a way for me to test the slot on my own, without having to send it out?
SD Card Data
Since I've bought the T-Mobile myTouch 3G (1.2/LE) I've had reoccurring problems with the 8GB microSD card that came with the phone. It would randomly say that the card was blank, but a quick pop in and out of the slot fixed the problem. The problem has turned permanent now; my pop in/out method hasn't worked (it still comes up blank). When I insert the SD card into my standalone SD card reader it goes unrecognized; nothing happens (which is the standard reaction when plugging in the reader without a card).
I have another 2GB microSD card which works fine (on my phone and with the card reader), so the problem isn't the card reading mechanism. While in the SD card settings on my phone I hit "Format" by mistake I then clicked the "Erase" button in the following prompt, however nothing happened! Something strange is going on, which leads me to believe that there's a chance I can recover the lost data on the card. Any suggestions?
Thanks,
-Adam

Probably a bad sdcard. It happens. Reformat and try it again. If that fails then get a new sdcard.
By the way, I'm merging with a similar post that you made a couple of months ago.

I'm trying to keep this forum clean and organized you know.
Now the 2GB card got erased! It was called "2GB," Now it's blank (besides a directory called "LOST.DIR" w/ nothing in it) and called "NO NAME."
Do you think the phone could be causing this to keep happening? This is how it started w/ the 8GB card until it eventually stopped being recognized at all. Is the SD format supposed to be FAT32?
Thanks,

It seems that either my memory card or my phone is messed up..I found out when I tried to take pictures the other day. Says please insert SD card. When I take the card out and insert it back in and start the phone back up it shows this little white task thing and says ok to take SD card out or something. Not sure what's going on? Any suggestions?

format the card (backup ypur stuff first), if that does not fix it it is likely that the card needs to be replaced

Appears that my Memory card is bad. That blows, no idea how that could happen? Oh well what do you do.
hi,just tried my new 32gb sandisk & it wont stay on,i plugged it in & it says i can safely remove & when i mount it it appears as 29gb and then vanishes again, ive erased the card but still wont stay & also restarted phone ??? any ideas ? is the card a duff ?
bloody hell now my old card is doing the samething & all my data, music & videos etc are not showing ?
none of my cards will stay mounted & ive factory reset also, they just appear & disappear 16gb & my new 32gb sandisk ?
notification keeps coming up to safely remove sd card
There is a little switch that clicks down when you put the back down. Be sure the back cover of your phone is all the way one or it won’t mount.
Also once you change cards your old card will not work in your phone again (data wise).
The phone seems to marry to the card then forget the old card. I learned that the hard way when I put a smaller card in while I rooted my phone (all I did was format the other card at that point). Then I put my main card back in all my games had to be reinstalled.
You can copy all the data files from one card to the other and the phone will recognize both properly

Not that I know of. Like I said it forgot my SD after putting a new one in and formatting it. So i'm guessing one at a time.

Ah, it's actually more convenient because it allows you to change sd cards without restarting your phone.

Same, had the same issues at first, and this was the solution.
That feature is there so hotswapping your memory card won't cause data corruption.

I brought a XPeria play from Amazon.com that is supposed to be new and appears to be that way. I was super excited to get it...
Except one thing...
The SD Card that the phone come with is not being read properly. It comes with an 8GB card.
I am not sure what brand of card it is. It says 8 GB microsd HC
I even tried using my current SD card that I have in my other phone, also 8 GB made by kingston. Class 4 I believe
Everytime i stick it in there it says SD CARD CAN NOT BE ACCESED
I go into settings and it will at first show 7.40 GB available and then it will change to unavailable.
What can I do?
It is an R800i
I actually had the same problem just a little while ago and I put into my x10 and it said the card had damaged clusters out something like that and it just repaired it, so that could be it or the sd card slot just doesn't work properly

Not too sure if this will work, but i guess its worth a shot right?
Format the SD Card ~ Take a backup of everything on it if needs be.
(If you can't do it via the phones settings, use an adapter and do it via your pc)
then place it back in, try to mount it, if it fails; reboot the phone and see if it automatically mounts.
Hope it works if you try it.
Make sure the back of the phone is securely in place, there is a tiny microswitch on the rear of the phone that tells it the back is on, if the back is not on properly, the micro sd will unmount itself.
Hi guys, I dropped my phone for the first time EVER in my life (was really sleepy).
Now I can't use my sd card, the phone gave me a popup that it was unexpectedly removed and after that it keeps saying it encountered a problem.
Things like Gallery tell me to "please insert an sd card", it's in there!
I have no idea what to do and it's at least three months left until I can get a new phone, please help me.
Oh, by the way, my phone's not rooted, just normal HTC Sense.
Thanks in advance!
EDIT: Thread can be closed, I was a dummy and didn't try to remove battery first.
Haha i know the feeling

try to remove it and put it back again. if that doesnt help..recover your photos and everything else with some software and format it
Oh my God..
I didn't even drop it and now it happened again!
Removing the battery and micro sd card didn't work. :crying:
Depending on what important info you have on your SD card, you could consider formatting it via your PC, if you have an SD card slot somewhere.
I had a similar issue some months ago, and formatting the card (via Windows) did the trick.
Of course, remember that formatting the card will erase all data on it, and therefore it could render some apps on your phone to be useless / or not work.
(This might sound weird, but if you have another SD card, try formatting that too and putting that in your phone. Then take out the battery, put the original SD card in and see if it is OK after booting up.)
