I lost US android keyboard vibration on key press after I updated to Touch Wiz. Samsung keyboard vibration still works. Anybody here has the same issue? I am not rooted, stock everything.
Yeah, its been like that since the first leaked touchwiz. No fixes for it yet and I noticed some third-party keyboards haptic won't work either.

Yeah, noticed this too. Come to think of it, the Galaxy S had this too when custom ROMs for Froyo started coming out. Eventually it was fixed, but not sure how. Kinda annoying being that I prefer the Android keyboard over the Samsung one.

I'm not carrying my tablet to verify, but did you try go to the setting of android keyboard and selecting vibrate option. Atleast, that option is present on my Captivate for gingerbread android keyboard.

I did that when I noticed it. I even did a factory wipe thinking that maybe something I restored via Titanium Backup. The check box seems to be useless now.

That damn smiley key was driving me insane, so I got the Gingerbread keyboard source from AOSP, got it to compile, and got rid of the smiley face button. Other than that, it's identical to the stock Android gingerbread keyboard, so requires 2.3+. Eventually I may figure out how to make it able to be turned on and off, but that would rather defeat the point. Enjoy!
(Note: you have to enable it in the Keyboard settings before you can use it, just like any other keyboard.)
The Eclipse project (source) is available here.
this sounds like a good thing for me because it also became annoying to me.
quick question though because i cant check out the keyboard mod yet, but does it remove the smiley key completely, or does it replace it with an enter key or something?
soon as i get the chance, ill install and see for myself
Nice. I like that it has been replaced with the enter key instead. I find that to be immensely more useful.
I replaced it with the significantly-more-useful return key.

The smiley key doesn't annoy me per se, but the fact that the Enter key was removed does. So now, it is impossible to have any semblance of formatting in your SMS'es.
Will definitely give this a go as soon as possible. This is definitely a must have as far as I am concerned.
Thanks, but i've a problem with your keyboard.
I turned on the vibrate on keyboard settings, but there is no vibration when I push a key.

Hm. I didn't modify the keyboard in any way other than replacing the smiley key, so I have no idea what may be causing that.

It's probably because you've packaged up the WVGA keyboard file, and not the qHD version. The Sensation sports a higher res screen.

That would make sense, but I don't see why the same keyboard wouldn't work on all devices. I mean, looking at the code, I see nothing that would prevent scaling. I was never asked for a target screen size to compile for, nor do I see any way to enter it. If someone could explain a way to fix it, I would gladly rerelease a qHD-compatible version.

You should try and work it out that Long Press of the return key let's you select smileys. It's one of my favorite features of Perfect Keyboard. But non the less, good job.
So I have haptic feedback when touching some things on by Tab, but when actually typing with the keyboard, I don't have any...I swaear I had it before.
I do have "vibrate on key press" checked in the keyboard settings too. I'm using Pershoot's Kernal with stock KME.

Works on other keyboards too - eg SwiftKey Tablet.
Regards,

this is probably the most annoying thing about the touchwiz update. I wonder if there's any way to change it..
Yah, any devs out there know of a way to turn haptic feedback on for the stock android keyboard...?

All SWYPE keyboard users, a new version is available for ICS. Nuance has purchase them so it has incorporated DragonGO into SWYPE. It allows for dictation.
You'll have to be a Beta user to get it.

Sweet thanks. I'll sign in and download it.

This version of Swype is WAYYY better than the stock one that came with the phone.
Well the stock is outdated

My only complaint with swype (which is a very small complaint) is i wish there were downloadable themes like go keyboard ect.

Thanks for the update. Using it now and all is great. Love swype. Now they just need to make a tablet version, i.e. one that has split keys....Not sure how that would work with swype....hmm

I got the Swype notification update the other day on two phones but the download stayed on 0% the whole time even with a solid signal.
I haven't been prompted since for an update, can someone post the version number of the latest update so I can compare?

I tried it out with build 16 of the branch that will be CM9 installed... worked quite well, just didnt' care of the little keyboard that comes up in the notification area. Didn't have a chance to research what it was about as I had to swap back to an old rom for a while. But I definitely make sure I install swype on any rom I install.

Yeah, whenever I get a notification, I'm never able to actually update through the preferences.
Like the other person said, uninstalling and going through Swype Installer again always works.
DragonGO!
I just love SWYPE, it's something iPhone don't have and they envy Android users. "Hey, how can you text so fast". I said, "chicken plucking is soooo typewriter days"
Anyone tryout DragonGO!, it's not that bad of an Apps.
Swype work for me in ICS Passion V13 without any problem, the bad think is the process of installing this new version, is very tedious.
anyway, another thing i could seen is that swype can retrieve any data swiped in your phone, says, password, credit card number, and other data. I cannot afford that.
I use my regular Keyboard. Swype is a very good keyboard!

Not sure if it's maybe unique to me but after the 4.2.2 update, when I'm using swipe typing with the stock keyboard it no longer inserts a space automatically when I finish entering a word so I have to keep pressing space in between swiped words. Anyone else noticed this, or have any suggestions of something else that may be causing it?

I notice the same. It's only in certain input types though. I've noticed it happen in SnapChat and the Chrome search bar.
I just flashed the latest PA, 3.0, and the swipe text input has gone for me too.
I haven't got any ROMs or anything like that. Still plain old stock android. And yes actually it seems to only happen in certain apps like chrome. Talk and WhatsApp are fine. Anyone got any ideas?

Haha just got it. Nice
Mine seems more buggy after the update. Sometimes skips letters when swiping. Mostly works though. On stock not rooted. No other keyboards installed.

Mine has spaces every where excluding the URL bar on any browser .
This is happening for me too but I only notice it in chrome search. It's pretty annoying and only since 4.2.2
Anyone any the wiser on this yet?
It works fine for me. Perhaps it is a bug with some unrelated options? Try changing some of the settings and see if that changes something.

Hmm can't really think of where to find settings to change. Any suggestions what type of thing to try?
For those having problem activating the Swype keyboard on 4.3, just disable the 'auto replacement' option in the Samsung keyboard settings.

I was kept using Swype for some year, then i changed to Swiftkey, but now im back to stock galaxy keyboard.
It seems the current swype keyboard is more accurate than the earlier version..... It tends to get the words more correctly as if checking the sense...
Swipe Keyboard not working
Being using Dr Ketan initial version for 3 days. Swipe keyboard doesn't work on first day, but 2nd day, it works again. Then on 3rd day...loosing it permanently. Thought of changing to Wanam V4 would have better luck. But same.
Too bad that Swipe keyboard not working. Hope the official release would solve this issue.

Swype keyboard sometimes works and sometimes doesn't. It's really random so it's kinda hit or miss if this will fix it for you.
The disappearing Google account can be fixed by doing a full wipe. I had this too and this fixed it for me.
Yes, it works now. Thanks for the info.
