[Q] Successfully rooted NC booting to stock interface - Help! - Nook Color Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I've suddenly developed a problem with my rooted Nook Color 1.2.
I soft rooted it back in April using ClockWork and apk-enabler-1-1a-signed.zip.
Everything worked as expected.
For the past few weeks I haven't needed any of the andriod apps. I have just been using the Nook as a reader and I have not made any changes to it other than loading and removing books.
Today I realized that it was booting to the stock user interface and pressing the N key did not bring up the menu list of alternate managers that I installed.
I have tried re flashing the NC with apk-enabler zip file. When that didn't give me back access to the andriod apps, I tried flashing with the newer MiniRooter from NookDevs. Now I have a new flyout menu on the right side of the screen, but there really isn't any response to pressing the icons.
I'm sure that I'm leaving out an obvious step or doing something else dumb and I really appreciate it if someone could point it out to me.
Thanks!

[Q] ClockworkMod restore doesn't work

I was running CM7 n136 with nook tweaks (overclocked to 1300). My NC randomly rebooted (probably because I haven't quite nailed down my undervoltage settings) and when it came back it had me at the android start screen (touch the android to begin). I clicked through it and almost all my apps were gone; it was like I was starting CM7 for the first time. I had a handful of force closes too (they just popped up right away before I could click through the startup). Not a problem, I thought, and I went to recover with ClockworkMod (3.2.0.1). Restoring doesn't work and I end up at the same screen. I've tried restoring two different restore points and neither works.
Any ideas how to get around this?
Thanks for all your help!

Tried to install CM7 - now I can't get anywhere.

Hi all,
I'm having a little problem. I have researched but everything I've found leads me back to square one...
So I followed this guide to installing CM7 on my M2. Please note that I have in the past successfully rooted my phone, installed the Argenstone ROM and one other basic Great Britain Rom. So I'm not a total nub. However at this stage I have a phone that's is useless to me...
My phone is rooted. I have Droid2Bootstapper installed and I managed to get the CWM 3.X installed. I downloaded the all-in-one.zip file from the CM7 ROM thread (the zip is actually called EndlessCM7-110901-nightly_build.zip - hope that's not an issue?)
I booted into CWM and applied the EndlessCM7-110901-nightly_build.zip and after (without a reboot) wiped everything (I had backed it up previously).
I rebooted the phone and...well I get the Google logo with the Motorola M and the Cyanogen bot as the 2 'O' characters. Then after a while a 3D rotating 'square' and the android writing and logo 'shimmering' in and out but that just goes on forever. I left it for an hour at one point and just gave up.
Now I can't even get past the Google logo. I've tried restoring my previous back up but that won't work either. I can't boot into the OS to actually use RSD lite to flash a known working ROM over the top.
When the LED turns blue and I hit the volume key it displays "Android BootMenu <v1.0.3>" which is different to the CWM 3.X that I was getting prior to applying the EndlessCM7-110901-nightly_build.zip file.
From here I can select to recover the last 'latest recovery' which when done loads into CWM-based Recovery v4.0.1.6-defy.
Basically I'm at this point where I seem to be able to load just about every boot menu under the sun and do everything but actually launch the damn OS.
How can I get out of this hole? Preferably I'd like to get everything back to the stock ROM the phone came with so that I can start from scratch again.
Any bodies help would be more than appreciated.
Cheers,
- Matt
EDIT: I have even used CWM 4.X+ to try and restore the Argenstone ROM. it goes through the whole process of checking the MD5 sums, restoring the system and boot images etc and seems to work without any issues. I then wipe all data and reboot. Nothing - still the same cyanogen Google logo and the only thing I can do is boot into all the CWM menus.
*sigh*
Argh feel like a true idiot now. It took me about an hour of searching earlier but I've only just found/remembered how to get RSD lite to see my phone (pwr+volume+camera) and I'm wiping the whole thing to the factory (vodafone) ROM. Might take the opportunity to take it to Vodafone and tell them it never gets a damn 3G connection lol...provided this flash works (touch wood).

[Q] problem with apps

Hi!
Im new with this of craking, and im not a native english speaker so forgive me if i dont explain well my self.
I just root my NookSimple Touch (version 1.0.1), with touchnooter-1-6-24, during the hacking every thing was going fine, the "root forever" logo showed up, and then it got stuck in the barnes and Noble loading screen, so i waited like for 20 minutes and nothing! it remains in the same loading screen. So i took out the SD card, and re boot the nook, it started up well and i could complete all the steps of the rooting procedure normally.
Now im having troubles with some apps, cant use the browser, and cant use well the wallpaper app, it dont allow me to select any of the images, and even worst when i select one of the Live Wallpapers (only one live wall paper was working), the next time i turn on the nook it got stuck again, but this time on a diferent screen, on the unlock screen at the starting up. After many rebootings could use the nook again and close the Livewallpaper app. Now is working fine.
Now im scare of using other apps and crash the system again. So i have some questions:
Is it normal that the apps that i mention dont work well on the rooted nook? Or is it concecuence of the failure i mentioned during the hacking procedure? Do i have to root again the nook?
I didnĀ“t do a backup, does it worth to do one now? Or just save some information of the system that could be use in the future for an emergency?
last question, when one uses the set fabric settings option, does the nook goes to original version (with out the root)?
thanks a lot in advance for the soon answer
Juan
Do a backup, if you screw up, its the best way to have a copy of the unique information on the factory partition of your NST.
You need to do a Reset and a Restore to get rid of root+Gapps+Apps, use this:

+
"set fabric settings option"

[Q] auto-nooter 3.0.0 question

complete noob here, so sorry if i am posting i the wrong place. I tried rooting my nc 1.2.0 but it didnt take, i think i unplugged it too soon. so I did a complete wipe and afterwords the nc was showing my software rev as 1.1.0. I then followed the instructions for auto-nooter 3.0.0 and i got to this point:
6 Your NookColor will reboot when it's done.
That was the hard part, now to the simple stuff.
7 Upon boot unlock your screen.
8 At the Android Welcome Screen skip Sign In.
9 Enable Location Services when given the option.
10 Connect to Wifi and launch Youtube from "Extras".
so here is my problem. After enabling location services(step 9), when i hit next I get a prompt saying:
complete action using
home
softkeys
home simply takes me to the normal nc home screen and softkeys asks for superuser permission the first time and afterwards also goes to the nc home sceen. i have wiped and re-rooted 3 times now with exactly the same results. am i missing something or doing something wrong? is there a different method for rooting that I should be using instead? should i attempt to go back to vers. 1.2.0(not sure how I would do this)? any help anyone could give me would be greatly appreciated as my kids are dying to use the nook and for me to be done "hogging it" thanks in advance
its fixed
ok not sure what gives, but i rebooted again and it seems to work fine now, other than not many apps in the market. I dont know how to delete this post so i just replied. mods feel free to delete

[Q] Re-rooting wont work

I rooted my Simple Touch (1.2.1 firmware and NookManager 0.5.0) and it all worked fine, I just messed a few things up later on while playing.
I decided to redo the rooting so I restored the backup I took before I started using NookManager, the restore has worked fine (there is the good bit I dont have a brick). Now when I go back into NookManager I select the root option and it comes back almost immediately with success but restarting the Nook just gives me the original Nook software and no Android or Relauncher.
How do I get everything back to rooted (or get access to Relauncher again) ?
Many thanks.
