NO LONGER TAKING Q'S. HAVE MOVED TO X8 FORUM!! HI everyone. i have started this thread as i didnt know what to do when i first had to send my wildfire back for repairs. first download the attatched zip. unzip to desktop and make sure u have got the drivers for your bootloader interface already installed. to do this you will need just two things. the zip you have just downloaded and the HBOOT which i included inside the ziped file. once extracted run the java file named S-ON.jar and plug your phone in and turn on fastboot. once connected make sure you click on check connection. once you have done that you should see your serial number appear. okay your ready to go. look for the first tab and click on it. then click on HBOOT/SPL. locate the HBOOT file you inzipped with the S-ON tool and then click it. once done just click on flash HBOOT/SPL. once done you will see it says FLASH HBOOT/SPL/SUCCESS. thanks for takuing time to look at my GUIDE and i hope it helps you. just remember one thing only flash the new HBOOT after you have installed the RUU which is android 2.2.1 so you can root again. and remember you can also get S-OFF again the exact same way
BEFORE you attempt to flash new HBOOT to gain s-on. please click start on your pc then goto run then in the dialog box type CMD. then you will have a pop-up it will be your command promt. in the command promt type
C:\fastboot>fastboot oem mb 9C068490 1 30 then hit enter. then open the s-on tool and flash the new HBOOT. then it will flash without FAIL. sorry for not realising this earlyer. and happy flashing.
comment if you need the bootloader drivers and i will upload them if requested thanks again everyone. and i would like to thank the acctuall creator of the programme thanks again briliant work on all sides.
i wil try it my Wildfire
here are the bootloader interface drivers..
enjoy thank me if this method helped you in your Quest to gain s-on
Did it worked for someone? I need to S-ON my wildfire, because i want to sell it
Edit: The WinRun.bat and LinuxRun.sh are wrong. They call the FastbootCommanderV.1.5.jar file, but they should call S-ON.jar
Question: What is eng hboot in your warning when the programm starts? I have the AlphaRev hboot 6.01.1002, will it work?
yesw i have done it on 5 diff wildfires i GUARENTEE it works mate hit me up on my thanks button
like i said this is not my programme i just found it very usefull to gain s-on. the only other way apart from this is to do it via the command promt on windows. which sucks as only a few people acctually know how to use this method. you dont need any of the linux stuff or win.bat. this method is for windows users only
For windows users only !!
this will only work on windows. wilol not work on linux. i am trying to get the programme to work on linux but to no avail. i will keep on trying but its just not capable of doing it. also please do NOT rename the HBOOT.NbO file if you do rename it then it will not flash and will not work.
i tried it, but when i will flash the hboot, i get this error:
Flashing "hboot" - PLEASE WAIT.
"hboot" flash FAILURE.
The device shows me: not roll back hboot version
DO NOT rename the file.
if you rename the file you will get a error. also make sure u have put your phone back to the stock RUU that is android 2.2.1 BEFORE you try this method
These are the RUU you need
go to this site and download the RUU that is used for your phone okay. go to this link and download the one for your phone. http://shipped-roms.com/index.php?category=android&model=Buzz
i have done this. my phone has 2.2.1 stock and i did not rename the file.
I think, i cant flash the hboot, because the alpharevx hbootversion is higher than the stock hboot...i think i read it somewhere...
no thats wrong the other way it to push it to the phone using fastboot and windows command prompt. this is the only 2 ways of gaining s-on again. trust me i have done it on my wildfire and 5 others and worked 1st time everytime
i will be shortly taking a video of me using this programme to gain s-on then you will all be able to see it working. it will not be untill my partner gets home but asoon as its uploaded i will share the url and let you all see that this way works 100% it is maybe somthing you are doing wrong ???? have you unzipped it to a sub fol;der on your desktop ????? and did you run it as admin ?? and if yes to them both. did you 1.rename the HBOOT file ?? or 2. did you move it out of the unzipped folder ???/
i trust you, but it get an error xD
edit: yes...i am an informatic specialist..i should know, what i should do and not..
lol. i dont know what to suggest then. it is odd because it has work flawlessly everythime i have flashed HBOOT/SPL. hmm i dont know then. i have done this method over 15 times to my own wildfire just to make sure it work 100% and could be used by other people. it has worked with alpharevx HBOOT and revelutionarys HBOOT which are both 6.01.1002 so its really weird it never worked for you :S
Strange...
An idea: I have the hboot from alpharevx from a very early closed irc beta. maybe this hboot is in some way locked. Can i flash the hboot with revolutionary again and use your tool? maybe the revolutionary hboot is different to the early closed irc beta :/
aslong as you know what your doing yes. it is possible. if you can get the revelutionary HBOOT then it will flash. then you should be able to flash the s-on HBOOT no problem
revolutionary dont let me flash their hboot -.- they say, i already s-off, so no flash needed -.-
ah i see, you said "if i can get the revolutionary hboot"...yep, i dont think, i can get the hboot
do you know the commands for flash the hboot manually?
do you know how to use command promt in windows ????

Can someone give me a link or explenation how to install a new rom on my htc magic?
Like how to root, etc etc?
(searched but cant find anything easy :s)
Well, you've certainly come to the right place.
As I've no idea what stage you are at, I'd say a good starting point is discovering what your magic is - turn it off, depress back button while starting phone.
Then begin your searching based upon that info......
I rooted mine following the cyanogenmod wiki. Knew nothing when I did and it worked out fine.
wiki.cyanogenmod.com (still can't post links)
By far, the easiest I've encountered. Still, feel free to ask questions about any of the steps and I'm sure there are a lot of people who'd love to help.
I have a 32A with radio 3.22.20.17 and Hboot 1.33.0009
(Sapp 10000)
I've installed the android SDK and the USB thing, I have a Magic from belgium (proximus) that shoudn't need to bee rooted.
So the only thing i need to know now is what do i need to install before i can instal a new rom and ho do i ionstall other radio+rom,
thank you
make sure you have all files on sd, and computer.
and have recovery etc.
follow the steps and double check it.

You need recovery on your phone and the right radio/hboot. Once you have these the ROM BIBLE on here very useful.
Read everything carefully and don't rush into anything, as the wrong combinations of rom/radio/hboot can easily brick your phone.
With recovery on your phone, and the right radio/hboot, flashing the rom itself via recovery is fairly easy.
You download the rom to your pc, enter recovery and wipe your phone, move your new rom onto the sd card via pc or usb, then flash it onto your phone from the sd card. Obviously there's more to it (such as backing up and more wiping etc) and more detailed explanations are available on this site - this is just to give you an idea of what's required.
The links in Mumilover's signature proved extremely useful to me(see my flashrec confusion post), might be worth you looking having a look to see if any are of use to you as well. Good luck.

Wow, no need for rooting! Have you tried installing a custom recovery image yet? Don't use ClockworkMod as they appear to have problems with 32A magics. Apparently, (according the cyanogenmod wiki) all you have to do is boot into fastboot and type a few things into cmd. BTW, you might have to type in the entire directory of the "recovery.img" you use when you use fastboot. (even if it's in the same folder as fastboot) I'm a noob so it took me a half hour to figure that out.

How to get into fastboot and what do i have to type in cmd?
Go to wiki.cyanogenmod.com and find the step by step process for your specs. If you get the "remote:not allow" message while flashing a recovery then you're probably going to have to change your spl

I know there different methods out there, which I can't speak off, excuse me being biased but I have to say mumilovers fastboot commander was amazingly easy for me. In your case use the fastboot commander (magic version) in his signature. You simply download the commander, connect your phone via usb and enter fastboot (turn off phone, depress back button while starting phone up). You then have the ability via the commander to add recovery, change radio and change spl in simple clicks. Please note s-off/eng hboot is required (which you will find details of in fastboot) - which is why I can't use it anymore!!
you then can go off and change roms
Guys, I've been reading on here about S-Off using AlpharevX but I need someone to guide me {step by step} on how to go about the process.
What I have done thus far is :
Downloaded AlpharevX exe.zip from here: http://alpharev.nl/x/beta/
now what should I do?
EDIT:
I opened the exe file in that zip and it waited for my phone for a few seconds and then showed info about my phone and asked me to enter the BETA key.
I entered the BETA key (from the alpharev site) and a few more seconds later I got this screen: (attached)
Is this it?
Going by screenshot, it means that the process is a success. Your device is now S-OFF. Check it by booting to Recovery mode. At the top of screen whether it is S-OFF now?
yup it is .. and now I have HDBOOT 6. <something>
I've even rooted my phone using this : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1130044
Now backing up stuff on my phone using titanium backup...
want to flash some rom .. dunno which one
Well i get failed , get some lemonade or sth like this can anyone tell me the reason
Luck you, and here I am with the same bootloader trying to get S-Off since morning with no luck what so ever.
^ try redownloading the AlphaRev zip file ..
< atleast thats what I read somewhere {there are so many threads on this right now that I can't remember where I'd read this} >
It seems like the beta key generating application form is taken off the AlphaRev site. Damn, I missed it for my Incredible S.
EDIT: It's there. I misread the form!
after looking into many posts and trying for over a week i still can't manage to root my cousin's HTC wildfire.
he bought it of T-mobile with contract and i flash "RUU_Buzz_HTC_WWE_1.37.405.1_Radio_13.53.55.24H_3.35.19.25_release_151892_signed.exe" only thing that changed flashing that he can now use battery for longer hours. but still i can't manage to S-off (security off).
I've tried
1: revoked
1a: revoked using custom method
2: alpharevx (the iso says not competable)
3: tried using Superone tool
4: almost everything on XdA website and outside
well i am not sure what is wrong
whenever i try to flash recovery through ADB fastboot or other methods it give me error and wont let it go thru, even if i push it thru adb it just give me error at end and thats all... so frustrating.
Any suggestions? any help?
Appreciate ur help in advance and thanks for taking time looking into this post.

Unrevoked won't work on hboot 1.01 . And if your hboot is 0.80, then you need to install hacked hboot drivers in windows pc to use unrevoked. And there is no alpharevx ISO bootable cd yet AFAIK. May be you have used alpharev 1.8 ISO image which is not supported for wildfire. Then superone click root method will not give a permanent root to wildfire with S-ON.
Looks like your hboot is 1.01.x
Check your hboot version first. Power off your device. Then by holding vol down key, power on the device. Now you will see hboot menu. If your hboot version is 1.01.x with s-on then alpharevx is the only option to root your phone presently.
This link applies to you if your hboot is 1.01.x. If you face any problems with alpharevx program, then downgrade to hboot 1.01.0001

Hey im working on my friends inc and i need help
He has
Locked s-on
hboot - 1.02.0000
radio 2.15.10.12.20
I used the Ruu on the HTC dev site and it only took like 1 minute. They say it goes to 4.08.405.2 , but afterwards i check and it's still on 4.08.405.15
I go to fastboot and type "fastboot oem get identifier token" like it says on htcdev
and i get out
...INFO[ERR] Command error !!!
fastboot devices worked though.
Can someone help me out fast?
Thanks,
I think it might be that that Ruu downgraded me to 1.02 hboot from 1.07
...
is there a way for me to get the 1.07 hboot back .. it looks like i never need to run their ruu and now i'm set back
and pissed, and angry.
Any help would be greatly apreciated.

Yes flash this ruu thru hboot http://dinc.does-it.net/Stock_Images/4.08.605.15/PB31IMG.zip. It must be named exactly PB31IMG.zip and be on the root of your sdcard in no folders. However if the last ruu you did only took a second, chances are it didnt flash right anyways. Also are you s-off? You can only downgrade hboot versions if you are. But really it shoukdbt natter, both 1.02 and 1.07 are unlockable.

Not s off, I'll try that thanks. Idk the phone was on [email protected] and I tried to go to 4.08.605.2 an upgrade right. Didn't work and won't let me get I'd token.
Uh heh
It was either a driver problem
or
i typed in the command wrong
it's suppose to be
"fastboot oem get_identifier_token"
/facepalm took me so much time on this well i hope if someone gets the same thing they can see this and remember to type the command in right

I don't believe that hboot was ever supported. To root and use custom roms you can use htcdev.com and unlock your bootloader. Then use fastboot to flash a custom recovery, then root.

It won't brick your phone the steps are
1. Download and install the SDK. Truth be told you only need adb and fast boot. I think i have a package download for it somewhere. (follow this thread and download the adb file and place it where it says to. the process is the same do not flash the recovery from that thread afterwards though as it is not for your device!).
2. Once you have that fill out the htcdev stuff and they will email you a big long code.
3.you then need o open a command prompt. Use the windows menu, then hit search and type in cmd.
4. You then need to move your command prompt to the correct location. So example: your adb file is located at C:/adb/, you would type in cd c:/ ( then) cd c:/adb/
5. Then connect your phone via USB with the phone in bootloader mode.
6. Type in fastboot oem unlock (and paste in your unlock code)
7. Follow your phones on screen instructions

Complete guide on How to ROOT HTC Wildfire (BUZZ)
What is did and successfully complete on 2 Devices :-
Step 1 for Making S OFF
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
S-OFFing the Device
Downgrade to HTC Froyo WWE for AlphaRevX "now named: Revolutionary" (HBOOT 1.01.0001)
It has been confirmed that AlphaRevX "Revolutionary" tool is not S-OFFing wildfire (buzz) 2.2.1, with HBOOT 1.01.0002!
Therefore, downgrading the HBOOT to 1.01.0001 is must for the meantime, to get an efficient S-OFF.
Lots of people seem to be having issues when trying to downgrade their Wildfire from a carrier-branded version (HBOOT 1.01.0002) to unbranded WWE (HBOOT 1.01.0001).
So, here’s a small package to help you do this.
Extract this package somewhere you can find it, like your “Desktop” for example.
Step 1: run step1.bat from the package. This will downgrade your MISC partition to allow for the RUU downgrade.
At the end, GoldCardTool will start up, to allow you to create a goldcard which you will need before starting Step 2.
How to deal with Gold-Card Tool:
1. Switch off your phone, remove your microSD card.
2. Insert the microSD card into your card reader, connect it to your computer and format the card to FAT32 file system.
3. Insert the card into your HTC Wildfire and power it on.
4. Make sure USB Debugging is enabled on your phone in Menu > Settings > Applications > Development.
5. Connect the phone to your computer via USB and set the mode to charge only.
6. Launch Gold-Card Tool on your computer and click ‘GetCID’.
7. Copy the CID code from the text box and click the link shown below that text box to open it in your browser window.
8. In the browser window, enter all the details required and submit that form.
9. You should now get an email from PSAS. Open it and download the ‘GoldCard.img’ attachment.
10. Now set your phone’s USB mode to Mass Storage.
11. In Gold-Card Tool, click ‘Refresh’.
12. Select your mounted SD card from the drop-down menu saying “HTC MMC:”
13. Click ‘Load Goldcard.img’ and select the file downloaded in Step 11.
14. Click ‘Patch MMC’ and your Gold Card will be created. You may exit Gold Card Tool once done.
After you've made the goldcard, and patched it, continue with step 2.
• Step 2: run step2.bat from the package. This will downgrade your ROM version to HTC WWE Froyo for Wildfire (unbranded).
If you get a Customer ID error while doing this, your goldcard is not working!
Create a new goldcard and re-run step2.
Revolutionary
* Steps:
1st You need to get to: http://revolutionary.io/ to download the tool, and to get your “beta key” which you’ll get in a pop-up window in the same download page after you click the download link for (windows version).
The “beta key” is a must; the tool won’t work without it!
You’ll be asked to provide your phone “serial no.”, typically it should be something like HTXXETDXXXXX, and you can get it from:
Settings --> about phone --> phone identity.
Now, do the following:
1. Run latest version of HTC Sync on your PC and connect phone in HTC Sync mode and sync all your files. Remove HTC Sync and not the drivers.
2. Reboot phone.
3. Settings->Applications->Development->Check “USB Debugging”.
4. Run Revolutionary and connect phone to PC in “Charge Only mode”.
5. Revolutionary should recognize your phone and show your Device Serial number.
7. Type out the “key” in the Revolutionary tool software, keeping in mind the upper and lower case letters and press enter (you can copy / paste the key).
8. Revolutionary should start doing its job and you’ll get S-OFF in less than 90 seconds.
9. If it takes longer, just wait for the 15 minutes mark, if nothing, then reboot phone and retry.
(Some members got S-OFF after multiple tries)
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
For Rooting HTC Wildfire
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Step 2 - Downgrading from Android 2.2.1 Froyo to Android 2.1 Éclair
Download the RUU rom (here) which is an original stock rom. Plug your phone into the PC and set it to "Charge through USB". Double click RUU rom .exe
Follow the on screen instructions and then let it install. Your phone will reboot into stock HTC 2.1
This will be the last time you will be seeing it though.
Step 3 - Gaining root using Unrevoked, get ClockworkMod and set your phone free
Download the test version of unrevoked (here). Let me repeat, DO NOT USE UNREVOKED 3.32 as it will lead to CID errors or to be precise this error
"Validation error, backup CID is missing"
This may be caused as the 3.32 does not support the HBOOT. Hence you need specific test version of Unrevoked 3.2 to do the job. Download it, save it on desktop, and run it. Now connect your phone and the rooting will start. Once done, you will have ClockworkMod recovery installed on your phone.
Reboot your phone now (using the VOLUME UP/DOWN key for navigation and clicking using TRACKBALL, the POWER button takes you back in menus). Once rebooted, you will see the “Superuser” app in your phone and....
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Flashing CM-7.2 ROM (or any other ROM)
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Flashing CM-7 ROM (or any other ROM)
Installing CyanogenMod 7 (Android Gingerbread 2.3.3)
Download the CyanogenMod 7 (here) (choose stable mod) for best results and download the latest version.
You will also need Google apps (here) or here (for latest version).
Place both files on desktop, connect your phone as USB disk-drive and transfer both zip files on SD card. Once done, reboot your phone into ClockworkMod Recovery (booting by holding the VOLUME DOWN + POWER button and clicking on recovery)
Once the device boots into the ClockworkMod Recovery, use the side VOLUME buttons to move around, and either the POWER button or the TRACKBALL to select.
• Select the option to “Wipe data/factory reset”.
• Then select the option to “Wipe cache partition”.
• Select Install zip from SDcard.
• Select Choose zip from SDcard.
• Choose update-cm-7.0.3-buzz-signed.zip & Let it install.
• Once done, Select Install zip from SDcard.
• Select Choose zip from SDcard, choose gapps-gb-20110307-signed.zip
• Once the installation has finished, get back to the main menu by clicking the POWER button and select the “Reboot system now” option.

For root, first downgrade your hboot from 1.01.002 to hboot 1.01.001
You can see a great thread in windfire 'general' forum. I'm on mobile so cant post direct link

Unlock your bootloader via htcdev, then use fastboot to flash clockworkmod recovery and finally flash tge superuser.zip file and you will have root.
Fyi the downgrade method does not work on hboot 1.02.000 as it was not made for it. If someone was to remake it it may be possible, but htcdev is ready now.
