I've noticed that the Iconia even with custom roms is laggier in alternate views compared to other Honeycomb tablets. Did any of the roms fix that?

not that this is helpful at all, but I'm experiencing the same thing. Running virtuous xoom, or whatever it's called

OT but why dongimin2 flags is in korea ? singapore is in korea?????
I ended up switching to the Minimalist 3.2 rom and it has fixed my lag issues
Experiencing the same issue on my A500 after the update to 3.1 (unrooted).
Just tested on a 3.0.1 - A500 at work, and this one hasn't got the issue! So it's definitly a 3.1 problem... anyone found a sollution yet (behalf rooting...)...
Thanks!
Minimalist 3.2 ROM is the only I've seen that solves the lag issue in portrait.
does the 3.2 update at least fix it for stock? im waiting to update til roots achieved

Currently on the flashable .22 3.1. What in your opinion is the best rom for this device.

I just ordered this tab myself and I'm interested in opinions on the ROMs available. Are there many developers at this point?
so far now...
- Galaxy
- Picasso
- Xoom (3.2)
from the virtuous team
with kernel UNITY

Honeyvillain (Stock Acer improved )

Taboonay (Stock Acer improved )

the best??? hummm should better try them before.
Ya I couldn't say which one is best either but I do love the functions on Virtuous Galaxy. Personally I'm going to wait a few more months or a year before I play with any ROM's -
Unless of course that Galaxy ROM gets perfected. I'm twitching for it.
I myself tried both Virtuous Galaxy and Virtuous Xoom and I have to say I really like the Xoom one better. It's smoother, and I experienced odd input lag on the Galaxy one. Both are however several notches better than the HC 3.0 by Acer!
just messin...
Just now messing with from mods on my iconia. Do the zoom or galaxy roms support the USB drive?

That's a bummer. Nothing about the Xoom version interests me.
Here's hoping the Galaxy version gets better *crosses fingers*
running stock 3.1
CWM installed and ready to go - but have not flashed any custom roms, as the system running stock 3.1 works great for my purposes. If this changes I will consider going the custom ROM route

You say that now, but flashing is addictive. Once you realize what else your device is capable of, you will continue to modify it to fit your needs. My Galaxy Tab is far more than it was when I purchased it. I will continue to use it due to its voice capabilities.

I would say...
I tested every rom on XDA for A500
Xoom : no improvement, actually I felt like a downgrade rather than something else...not because a bad rom but maybe just because not fit to my need.
Galaxy: I love the UI, but.... feel like an overall slugggginess... the widget are maybe too much... I didn't checked the latest latest version so maybe it's improved... (the 5Mpx was not yet fixed...)
Picasso: Dunno... didn't see like a better things
Taboonay: this rom satisfied all my needs but lately maybe because of kernel... felt like some problem happening
ALL those rom have a common point I do not like it's the "automatic" 3G support... well I didn't buy my tablet to get 3G on it from a third part things or modified things... I just tether with my phone and it's really enough.
latelly I restocked my tabletS (both of them) one run the .40 and the other .38 well I am satisfied
maybe later I will return on custom rom
I rooted my tablet, that is at this moment fit my needs.
it all comes to your own personal preferences. I would encourage you to just try out a few and see what you like best. The virtuous team does do a very nice job with their roms though. I'm currently using virtuous zoom 3.2 but I do like the virtuous galaxy too but it needs a little work.
Honeyvillain (Stock Acer improved )
is best for me, more over, richardtrip is my favorite dev. since HTC Desire appeared.
I have a 3.1 that works and has least no. of FCs and odd things, comparing to stock rom by acer
My tab has a problem that it shut itself when in sleep mode , i would say 50% chance.
Tried most of the roms and no rom solve it 100%.
Now, Im with xoom3.2 ,,, so far so good (but just 3 hours ago)
Any idea???? Is it hardware or soft ware problem????
Of the ones I've tried:
Honeyvillan: was the best for me for a while - everything worked and was stable.
Virtuous_galaxy: I like the UI extensions, but external SD card could not be accessed via file manager. Keyboard didn't work, and I believe video camera didn't work well. Also exchange didn't work.
Virtuous Xoom: appears to be the best now. The things that need to work for me are:
cifs
exchange email
sd card access
video camera
gps
All these above things work. I did see one hard crash/reboot so far but seems basically stable. Its also overclockable, which Honeyvillan didn't seem to be.
The basic reason I like the Virtuous Xoom best is because HC 3.2 has pretty much fixed the orientation lag issue, where the UI wouldn't be as responsive if the tab is not in default orientation. I velcro it upside down on the dash in my car (for certain reasons).
The USB keyboard does not work, but I see there are instructions in the forum for getting that going. I actually don't need it very often anymore, thanks to the swiftkey X keyboard.
Which ROM would you guys recommend between Virtuous Xoom, Minimalist or Taboonay?
I've used Virtuous Galaxy and Falcon Galaxy but they were both a bit laggy. Falcon became especially bad for some reason.
I'm currently on Virtuous Xoom but it seems that it isn't compatible with any of the other custom kernels out there.
Id recommend either Tabooney or Villian, both are based on the Acer builds, so everything works.
I'm currently on Virtuous Xoom to see how it is. I'm just going to flash them all with a few days inbetween to see which I like most, lol. So far VX is snappy, responsive and stable.
+1 for taboonay

Have been using Taboonay. Pretty stable. I had to disable the cell standby service though. Otherwise, great ROM.

Cell standby? Airplane mode then turn your wifi back on. It seems to have saved me some battery.

+1 for taboonay with Thor kernel
Or Thor ROM, but I did not try it yet.
So far i have tested stock, taboonay, primee roms and all different kernels and i also like taboonay w/thor kernel seems to not suffer from lag as much, plus as mentioned its not a mix like the galaxy roms are so all functions work except you have to disable the cell & i have only got gps lock once, but thats not a rom issue
Out of the three I prefer minimalist 3.2 has amazing overclock features along with a great UI for any noobs or Basie users when I run 3.2 I really don't ever have trouble with compatibility small tweaks ever once in while but by far superior just wish it had the Dolby Digital settings for better sound

Well you know me guys always on the look for fun stuff to do. So I have spotted that the GoDevTeam has just made their supper popular home replacement app available for high resolution devices 7-10.1 sizes. After my installation I quickly found out that it need some major work still. It feels as if they only spent 2 whole seconds on the launcher and slapped tablet support if I were you I would definitely wait until the next release or 4

Really laggy in honeycomb Rom but works flawless on ics unless I use compatibility mode in hc 3.2.x its has some improvements is it cuz ics has better hw improvements?

Is anyone else's rear camera of poor quality? I'm on flexreaper-r5( which has been flawless for my needs) but I have tried every ICS ROM besides the actual leak because I don't like f-ing with boot loaders. But on everyone even a couple 3.2's and my camera has this constant annoying blue fuzz, anyone else experience this? Or should I go to stock and call Acer?

The ICS is from a "Beta". Need I say more, and you should have known this.
If your rear shooter is important to you, then I would suggest installing a 3.2 or 3.2.1 rom.

If you get the same from all roms, then it is a hardware issue.
3.2, 3.2.1 roms have the same drivers,
If there is a rom that it works well, then stay with it.
It's just a junk camera like all the tablets that came out around the time the iconia did

i want to ask u guys if i should update to ics
becuase i heared that honeycomb was better than ics
and ics is full of problem
such as the battery drain , some lags and many problems
is that true or what
and is updating to ics better than honeycomb
I have contemplated going back to Honeycomb many times, even as recent as last week, I've been trying to assess what features I'd miss from ICS and Jelly Bean (I'm using CM10) and apart from a few 4.x and up only apps, there's nothing to keep me there other than the "want" to be running the latest and greatest, I know some people say they had issues, but I don't recall having any when using Overcome 2.3.1 ROM and jumped ship as there was not going to be anymore development.
There's nothing stopping you from upgrading and going back to HC if you find that the grass, isn't greener.

had that thought a couple of days ago, as well.
what keeps me going from JB to HC are the superb notifications, UI performance, google now, multitasking menu, FOLDERS. Though 3.2->4.x is more of a shuffle, than a huge leap, I still prefer to have something more or less latest and improved on my device

Has Anyone gone from Task 14 to the stock ICS?
Is It worth doIng or should I just try to get Jelly Bean goIng?
Or shOuld I stick with what wOrks?

Just a quick update, I've moved BACK to honeycomb, Overcome 2.3.1 to be precise, just for a bit, to see what I'd miss.
The fact that there is no lag in videos is a big big plus, and using adw launcher gives the smoothness of ics (big leap from the last time I used it).
There are little things like, Google now and as someone mentioned before, the notifications, but having completely lag free video playback is a blessing to have back again.
I'm going to stick with it for a few days, then test the official ICS, then CM9 and make an informed decision of which is better pros and cons etc...

Well i was with hc 3.2, i did the update ota to 4.0.4 ics
I love it, its more fluid, faster, looks better also.
I only root my tab, i dont play with the roms and stuff so to me its just a question of staying up to date.
As for problems, the only one i got was about the flash player not working anymore and this was fix by dl the flash player from market.
I think at the end, its up to u, make a backup, try it and if u dont like, go back.

Not for me. I think it might be cause by the fact that u have too many apps running at the same time.
Try to install advance task killer, it will help ur tab to be faster

So far, for me and my little experiment, I have fired up YouTube after each new ROM and after the tab has settled down with updates etc, the honeycomb ROM produces no stutter at all, just fluid video, as soon as I go to ICS or higher it appears, however on JellyBean ICS 7 (i think that's what it was called) it is there, just much less of a problem compared to the others, but I still have to try CM9 to conclude the testing.

To be honest, I am using AOKP JB and I did not see the lags you are talking about.
Yes.
I updated to ICS about months ago, i really liked it, it's interface is kinda like the S3, except in tablet mode.
I didn't really see any battery draining problems, the battery was just like 3.1 or 3.2, so i suggest you update.
I used the official rom from sammobile, just search this on Google : P7500JPLPC_P7500OJPLP8_XSG.zip , and take the link from hotfile.
I've tried a few roms and the best HC from was from Task650. I then went to CM9 which was pretty good and stuck with that from for some time. Task650 then released a modified official stock ICS, this rom was very stable and pretty much bug free. JB was released and went to pershoot's CM 10 experimental, was also good but was buggy and experienced a few crashes and non working apps. Because of this I tried Tryptosyll's AOKP JB from and things didn't improve much better. The JB roms are great and credit is due to those developers but I'll wait until a more bug free JB rom is available. I've always been a fan of Task650 roms so went back to Task650 ICS, but development of this rom has not been as as active as his previous excellent roms. Right now for me the best rom for my tab is Craigtut's Fourth bar:Revolution ICS rom, again based on the official stock from. It's heavily modified and I find it to be the fastest and smoothest rom and is pretty bug free for my tab. Also there is no lag in YouTube and no battery drain issues. I am currently running this from with the latest Yoda kernel with CPU running in interactive mode and over clocked up to 1.2GHz.
