PDF Viewer with Bookmarks? - Nook Color Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Anyone know any good PDF viewer app with bookmark feauture?
Sent from my NookColor using Tapatalk

I am looking for a pdf reader that bookmarks and is able to view zip compressed pdf files.

I just tested ezpdf on a zipped pdf and it opened and viewed it just fine. As for bookmarks, I set several bookmarks in an unzipped pdf using ezpdf. I don't know how it would export them but it remembered them internally without any problems. I know it's not free but it is very good.
Just in case I misunderstood what Imbroglio was asking I went back and tried adding multiple bookmarks to a zipped pdf using ezpdf. Again, no problems.
I don't know if you'll find it useful but I also found an app called archidroid that allows access to passworded zips. I mention it because most of my zipped pdfs are password protected scans of personal documents.

books library?

hi,
i'm using my trinity a lot for books reading. i have them in *.txt format. i would like a suggestion of a program/database that will allow me to put them all together and view them easily, as well as search the text within them.
thank you very much
For putting them together you can use mobipocket reader (google it - the app is free) - desktop version can convert some formats, including .txt into its own file format and allows you to organise your books, sync them with your phone, etc.. I'm not sure about searching inside a book though.
you can also use ms free ebook reader they got a various formats->lit converter

Working with Kindle

Just getting the Vibrant from a G1 I noticed that Amazon's Kindle comes loaded on the device. If I had some ebooks installed is there a way to load these PDF files or do you recommend another alternative to using viewing ebooks?
i have not tried using pdfs with the kindle reader but the books are stored in /sdcard/kindle/ you could try sticking it there and see if it works
Put it in the dir /sdcard/kindle/ doesnt seem to be loading. Seems like it only registers pdfs/books that you have purchased from Amazon store?
Any other recommendations for a pdf viewer?
Downloaded the RFS and id love to read on the go ;p

I dont use pdfs too often so I'm not the best to answer, but I know there is an official Adobe Reader in the market
I use Aldiko for the books I can't read in kindle.
The official Adobe Reader app is a really good PDF reader in my opinion and it's free.

Same thing with Borders' eReader app. They don't allow you to read epubs or pdfs that you've copied to the phone/sd card manually. They only access your online amazon/borders library.
Aldiko is a good free epub reader.

Best Comic Reader

Hi all. Anyone could share what's comic book reader app you're using and how is it on our Kindle? I'm using Comicrack free but it seems a bit laggy.
Thanks.
I really like Comic Rack, it runs fine on CM7. If you want something more lightweight try ACV.
jj comic viewer for locally stored comics and mangawhat for reading manga online.
I started to use Perfect Viewer after seeing it mentioned in a different thread (CIFS setup one I think). Like it better than Comic rack so far, just a little tricky navigating it at first.

I read really A LOT of comics on my KF, and so I've tried three or four apps.
I think that the best is absolutely Perfect Viewer. I've never tried Comic Rack, though, so I will give it a shot.
Perfect viewer

Thanks guys. I too have tried few comic reader apps, Im torn between Perfect Viewer and Comic Reader Mobi. The fastest/lighest I've tried is Mobi, but I like Perfect Viewer's interface.

I have another vote for ComicRack, being able to sync any new comics via WIFI to my Kindle is very handy.

YeS!
I've tried ComicRack both on Windows and as Android App, and Perfect Viewer has been dumped without remorse
WiFi sync is a real charm.
Comic. rar file
I have both ACV and jj comic viewer. Have downloaded a comic in rar format. How do I open it.? I have tried doing a long tap and then opening it as a image, audio, video and text but, nothing happens.

a file source that has been named .rar or sets of files that have been archived
into a .rar file can be a tricky thing. depending on where your file originated you can either get something that can view archived files like .cbz, .cbr and .rar.
i have not tried any of the android comic viewers but my comic viewer on my pc will automatically view any set of images that are archived regardless of the file extension. this could be likely due to the notion that .zip and .rar files can naturally be handled by the archive drivers that are pre-installed, but i digress.
if ACV and jj can not access the file natively; your options are to convert your .rar files into something that both apps can use/open, or try to rename the extensions of your files to whatever ACV/jj handle.
the ACV info page says that i can handle cbr/rar but as a beta function.
such is the case it is likely that the .rar. file has been archived in a way that can not currently be parsed/handled by your comic view apps.
tl;dr
rename the file until it works, try a different app or get a different comic source.
I like Comic Rack, it have landscape and portrait view, the interface is great, zoom using double touch or pinch to zoom
I was just about to ask the same question. Downloading perfect viewer now
ComicRack :
Pros:
- Interface is nice
- Vertical scrolling is smooth
Cons:
- Doesn't read pdf
Perfect Viewer
Pros:
- Read all formats
Cons:
-Vertical scrolling is jerky
Despite it doesn't handle pdf format, I prefer ComicRack..

CBZ files are really just ZIP files (CBZ = Comic Book ZIP). Rename a Comic saved as ZIP to .CBZ and it will work in your reader.
CBR files are really just RAR files (CBR = Comic Book RAR). Rename a Comic saved as RAR to CBR and it will work in your reader.

Looking for a file browser to open books in different apps

I use Cool Reader to view most of my eBooks because it is the most compatible reader I could find (I have a mutt library). It is also easy to navigate and read, unlike apps like Mantano which have tiny useless buttons all over the place. I don't use Adilko because it forces the user to import books into its library, effectively requiring double the space for eBooks: space for my hand-sorted eBook library, and space for its own library. I use BeamReader to view my PDFs because it's the only app I've found that has a text wrap feature. I haven't picked out a comic viewer yet.
I am looking for a browser that can open all non-PDF books in Cool Reader, PDFs in BeamReader, and comics in a comic viewer. I have tried using Root Explorer to open books, but it only works with BeamReader for PDFs. I think it opens .txt files in its own reader.
Is there any single file browser I can use to open all of my eBooks? I'm open to both free and paid options.
Have you tried "Rhythm Software File Manager"?
I use it to open every existing format.
Just remember to associate file extensions with the right apps.
I'm sure it works for CR (html, txt, chm), ezPDF (pdf), ebooka pdf (djvu) opera (htm, html, mht), Documents To Go 3.0 (doc, ppt) and so on..

I just installed it, and I love it. It opens all my files perfectly, it has a great interface, and it even has root r/w support. Thanks for the recommendation!

Issue Opening a converted PPT file to PDF on Motorola DEFY

I dont know if this issue is a general one on all Android phones, but I had a PPT (Power Point document) on my PC which I had converted into a PDF file. The converted PDF file looks perfectly great and everything when opeing it on the PC, but when I try to open it from my phone, I get error opening file due to the document not being a PDF file document or something like like that. Other PDFs on the phone which was not converted, opens up fine.
I converted the Power Point file with the built-in "Save As" PDF option within the Microsoft PowerPoint file.
How can I resolve this?
Thanks!
Try officesuite from play store , it opens ppt file too !

And I forgot something to add here....That I do have Adobe Reader installed as well on my phone. And just updated it too.
I have KingSoft Office. And it did open up the PPT file on my phone as well, but its very hard to read out.
Is it because of the small size screen of the Motorola DEFY? Even when I tried to ZOOM in with my fingers and still will not ZOOM in enough.
Now Im playing around with Office Suite 7 and it just crashed my phone and takes a long time to load the PPT file.
But I want to view the file on my phone in PDF.
Any other suggestions?
Thx
Adobe is best to read the pdf file. Else try any other suite from playstore
