your best bet is to tie together widget locker with minimalistic text and tasker to create such a lock screen.

This is NOT an lockscreen issue I believe.
In handsent sms, it also shows application popup, even when your phone is locked. You can reply in the box, then it pops you back to the lockscreen. It is an application issue.
But like what #2 said, you can achieve that effect by WL and couple of apps.

no i dont even know what whatsapp is. you are trying to do something very specific so dont expect there to just be a tut for you to follow. try some stuff, learn the basics of tasker and then apply them to what you want to do.

Whatsapp is a crossplatform messaging system similar to kik, pingchat, etc... it's something that would be hard to make a tasker thing for.

Is there a way to disable the visability of any given application in our menu of applications?
I like the boobs butts and babes application but get tired of my phone turning into a play ground for these people who need to make a call. Enough said.
I use apps organizer instead of the tray. If the tray gives the ability to categorize and hide apps, I will go back, but till then I will stick with apps organizer.

I was wondering the same thing as the OP. I don't need my app list cluttered by icon packs for Bettercut. Thanks, I'll try this out.
Let me know how that program works for you.. I saw some of the reviews with the link and think maybe its not what im looking for.
As I recall that app doesn't actually remove it from the tray, just makes you put in a password to launch it.
I know there are threads on tasker, but i have to say, this is one sick app.
all you have to do is send sms with secret word from any phone and Tasker will enable wifi, gps, and send back a link to google maps with phone location.
That is amazing, but...
Pity the GPS, Compass and Google Maps implementation is completely ****ing broken!
I would definitely love to use this when (or if) the locational services ever do function. Thanks for the heads up -- I had no idea this existed.
There are multiple apps like "Where's my droid" that do this as well.

Maybe, but tasker does thousand other things. For me gps works fine, but there is a problem with compass

If its not too long, would you mind posting your contexts and tasks to achieve just that exact same you just described? I'm trying to get better with the program although at a very slow pace
Thanks a lot mate!

Yeah i was interested in how you did it as well. I am just learning this tasker app and it doesnt seem that you can import and export tasks easily.

you can find it here: http://tasker.wikidot.com/profile-index
the guy is using GPS only, but its pretty straight forward to include WIFI in this as well (WIFI is for better location without GPS). The time to wait for GPS to get a lock is up to you, I have 1 min.
and as you can see there is a profile there if you wish to lock you phone with SMS and/or play sound. (havent tried that)
For now I have these tasks: 1. If power ON, screen timeout is set to 45 sec (from 15), and lockguard is disabled 2. from 7:30pm to 8am screen brightness set to min and to AUTO other times. 3 Created a widget for "Vibrate" and "Bluetooth" since Vibrant is missing easy access to those functions (in a nice menu widget to save space). 4. I have several tasks killed at boot since they are useless anyway. (for this need to insert WAIT command with whatever time needed since some tasks start after the phone boots)
Thanks a lot for that link! Was able to create my own widget too now!

Read that Lookout drains battery, one of the features of Tasker is to actually save battery.

Any idea how to get this installed? I don't have it showing on my phone. Also, it shows it is only available in Germany and the UK. Do you have a work around to allow it to work anywhere?

Hi there, well I thought about something that I would like to have on my phone
Maybe you have many apps installed...and you have many icons on the "list of apps" from your launcher. Its my case, and some of that app´s laucher icon I dont use it because maybe I dont use this app too much
So would be great an app which you can "transform" the icon from the app list to a widget. I mean, to hide the app to the menu, and If you want to launch the app, go to widgets and here is it. Do u understand me? what do you think?
Well javi, I'll give you a simple solution which u may not know yet that most of the launchers like ads support catalogs in which u can manage the apps u want inn your app drawer and when u need them u just need to switch catalog.... go and try ADW launcher if urs doesn't support it.
send from my GT-S5670(updated to 2.3.4) using XDA app
Omg its true! I use ADW and I didnt know it
Tried and works perfect, just I wanted. Thanks mate for the suggest! thanks
Never mind.... just raise my thanks meter. Then even I will bethankfull to you.,..

Rocket Dock.: http://rocketdock.com/
Edit: It's not on Metro UI per se, it's on desktop. Don't know what to tell you if you're looking for one for the start screen.

I hope that, as time goes on, we see alot more programs which let us do customization like what yyou're looking for. I would still check out Rocket Dock though, I find it quite handy.

Erm, is it possible to monitor the notifications, for example:
A notifications is created from Facebook saying someone likes your photo,
then the "monitoring app" will get it and trigger an event, such as an alarm.

I mean that I want to retrieve the notifications data such as the title, content, at the time it's created, will it be possible?

If i'm not mistaken, this ability is not yet available and may soon become available with the release of version 4.3 of the android SDK.

You can detect new notification by using the Accessibility service. Try to search the keyword "AccessibilityEvent.TYPE_NOTIFICATION_STATE_CHANGED" and you should be able to find many discussions.
To read the title of notifications, use event.getText() when detecting an accessibilityEvent.
To read the content of the notifications, try to detect the situation where notification bar is pulled down (window's view changed event), then the event.getText() will give you the content of all notifications.

However, that just works on Android 4.3.
