Hey I just need some advice here.
I got a friend who wants to trade me a
Nexus one with cyanogenmod7 on it.
I have a g2 that's rooted also with cyan.
My question is with my g2 I get about a gig of
Internal memory I know with the nexus is doesn't have much memory.
Should I stay with the g2 with more internal memory or should I move to the nexus.
Has anyone else done this trade with anyone?
I would like some pros and cons that would help with my decision.
Any help is appreciated.
Thanks.
Honestly, id keep the G2. Second gen snapdragon rapes the first gen (which the nexus has) in CPU and especially GPU department. Now if you want something without a kb then thats personal preference. The Nexus will always have the advantage being a native google phone, but in terms of hardware its a downgrade imo

Don't do it.

i own both phones, on an off day the g2 runs figure eights around the nexus, and just utilize your apps2sd for memory justification..now if this g2 only had that track ball of the nexus id b 100% content. i can't stand this ridiculous excuse of a user input the "already feels stuck out the box trackpad". just my thoughts.

I agree, I have both too, and I really like the track ball of the nexus one; also the flashing multicolored notification lights are really nice. Another plus of the nexus one are those three dock pins on the bottom for the desktop dock. I really love that feature, why don't more manufactures implement this. I was kind-of thinking of drilling in some holes and wiring it up on the g2 but had second thoughts.
keep the G2, get a new friend.

That's a little rough...
But yeah I don't think there's any real reason to trade a G2 for a Nexus One, especially if you're just going to be rooted and update yourself anyways.
Maybe if you need some money and he's going to put some on his end to make the trade

So I've had my evo since it first came out rooted shortly after and been flashing ROMs daily til CM6. And stuck with their nightlies, but I'm ready to move on now. I would not get a phone that can't handle an SD card. The S looks sweet but thats it IMO. I had a Fascinate and I swore I would never get a Samsung device again because of the lack of software updates. I had an INC and liked it. Its all a matter of taste. I have had a Droid X and the original Droid and out of all the phones I like the EVO the best and my second would be the original Droid..go figure.
if you go verizon, get the thunderbolt.

Well honestly I think the Nexus S us a great device! it just comes down to what you like & what you need. Some people say to wait for Dual-core phones but personally I don't like the idea. So it's all up to you, when it comes down to it. Also take into account that the Nexus S didn't have a SD card slot, but not a big deal to me

when I saw leaked pics of the G2, I was like this is gonna be my new phone. Then I checked it out in person and was turned off by its bulk and clumsy hinge. It didn't feel smooth sliding out the keyboard..had to use 2 hands instead of 1. Anyways, good thing I waited for the Nexus and I love it! So my answer is YES.
Absolutely. You get true stock and a much faster and sleeker device. I thought about the G2 when moving to T-Mobile. So glad I got my Nexus S .

This here. I had random signal loss a lot.
Dude definitely get the nexus s. If you want a new experience.
I would say as long as you have an android phone, n not an iphone your golden,
Personally, I have my G2 running CyanogenMod 6.1.1 with setcpu (overclocked when battery full to 1ghz and as the battery gets lower, I have it slowly clock down), and juicesaver (this kills having data on when the screen is off but it still alows googlevoicetexts to come through etc.) Also, memory AND battery expansions make this a good solid phone.
I also have the MT4G modded n such.
BUT,***** the nexus s is very sleek, the best samsung has put out so far imo. It has a fast proccesor, nfc, amoled, and gingerbread, off the batt to startt with, if you mod it, it just gets better.
Get and use what makes you happy, but just don't bite the apple. If you have had your G2 long enougj and want a new experience and get a good sale on your G2, go for it.
5stars

T-Mobile doesn't care if you change your phone when you're in a 2year contract with a phone. You just don't get the 2-year discount.
It'll take a few days to get used to using a virtual keyboard than a physical but once you get used to it. You'll feel that physical keyboards are just a waste of space.

I started my android ownership with a G1 because it was cheap, and there was a ton I could do to a $80 phone.
Before that I had an HTC Diamond for cost and "crap to play with" factor.
The Touch Pro just turned me off for it's bulk and subjective feel.
The G1 had some of the same issues, but I knew if this experiment worked I'd go for the Nexus S.
In between getting the G1, and later buying a Nexus S, I just found too much of the lingering turnoffs about the Touch Pro/G1 when I checked out the G2 as a cheaper alternative to the 2x cost Nexus S.
A guy I work with can't stand bar phones and what I like about the nexus S in general. He's always liked his TP2, G1, blackberries, Droid pos with keyboard.
Find a "good" Nexus S and just be happy, if that's what you subjectively "like".
I have this dilema where a guy is offering me to trade my MT4G for his Samsung Galaxy S 4G.
Would you make the trade?

i agree with the other posters...i had a samsung phone...never again...support sucks and will continue to suck
Actually, my girl has this phone, and has had no problems with it at all. while ive had to warranty out mine over four times now (mt4g), she hasnt even had a problem with it. if you are looking for something new, it wouldnt be a bad trade.
Agree with the rest..
The only products that Samsung makes that are decent are their dumbphones and the Galaxy Tab... Keep the MT4G and wait for the next gen on HTC phones...
My friend has a galaxy 4g, and we did a few tests:
Web browsing : glacier is faster
Camera: glacier is much faster, by that i mean the time from unlock to actually have a photo taken, i prob could have taken a pic and put my phone away before he takes a pic. but galaxy has builtin stitch but no flash.
Screen: i like the lcd better than led, the led has a blue tint to it unless you are looking straight on, the old galaxy had settings for tuning color, but cant find it in the 4g one.
Speaker : galaxy won for sure, glacier 's speaker is a joke.
Wifi module : galaxy can get on wifi within 5 seconds, my glacier takes at least 10, if not 15.
I am starting to like soft keys but rather have a track pad and deal with the clicking.
Mods: from what i have heard, galaxy doesn't have much of development.

I went with the HTC one s I've only used it for a day and so far my impressions. Beats audio sound is excellent, cameras is quick and beautiful, quadrant scores of about 5200, speakerphone is loud, battery is pretty darn good. But software... Definitely needs a custom rom. Lol why bother with the question you ask? I pretty much chose the one s because spec wise it is superior to the nexus BUT software wise the nexus will have the latest and greatest from Google....
