have you ever tried to sbf through 1kds (from droid x forums i think) linux bootable disc... its how i sbf and it never fails me
http://www.multiupload.com/ZUK28IEYAU
just burn iso to cd and boot from it and it does all the work for you
but besides that.. what method did you do to sbf

I used the Linux bootable disk method and I am back at 2.3.340. However, the only way I can make my device stable is to let it upgrade back to Verizon's OTA download.

Everything is stable on mi e when I sbf I don't know if it matters if it still says 2.6 because it still lets me download roms that say I need to be on 2.340 like rubix liberty and justice I just downloaded

What sbf to use?

So if I was to re-flash back to stock what sbf would I use? I bought my x with 2.2 out of the box and just performed the update to 2.2.1. I am correct in saying I would need to use the standard 2.2.1 sbf, or would I have to use the 2.2 sbf? Stupid question I know ......

You need the sbf file your phone is currently running. Look under about phone then system version and that will tell you what file you need to use.

I thin you need the latest 2.2.1 sbf that team black hat has released. I believe it is a system only sbf for right now.
In other words it only overwrites the /system/* portion of the android operating system.

Safe to NAND Restore fr GB to FroYo?

Is it safe to nand flash back to stock-rooted FroYo from leaked deodexed Gingerbread? I ask because I keep reading about folks needing to sbf to get back and the inability to flash other ROMs from the leaked GB. I guess what I'm not clear on is what the bootloader version matters, especially related to nand backup.

That's a great question.. I would like to know, too.
from what i have read on another forum, you need to sbf due to the fact that the kernels are different.
No it is not safe you will brick your device.

You flashed from gb 2.3.3 leak, back to froyo?

He flashed the madderstock.zip file. This is almost exactly the same as an sbf except it is in zip form. You CANNOT flash anything else from froyo or you WILL brick your device

If he got it from the TBH app it is the full system 2.3. 340monster zip. It CAN be flashed to get back to froyo BUT:
1) Maderstock zip CANNOT? They are two different filrs.
2)) if you want to go back to Gingerbread and you used the monster zip, you MUST sbf before doing so or you will likely soft brick your phone.
All this has been tried by experienced folks so the rest of us don't get surprises.

Flashed wrong rom

So I recently bought a droid x, I currently own an evo shift.. so I rooted the droid and installed boostrap x.. now I nandroided and proceeded to flash miui.us 1.10.21, so upon completion phone is stuck at the M screen... now I go into recovery via "home and "power" but I can't flash any rom besides and update.zip... I was on stock 2.2.1 which is my problem since its GB rom... my question what can I do to boot my phone up?? Any insight would be great..

You have to SBF.
Google for instructions on how to do so, it's really easy and returns your phone to stock.

Thanks I will def try that...
Update: sbf work flawless... now my question is... if I want to flash miui.us do I use boostrap X or 2?

Use Droid 2 Bootstrapper.
Sent from my DROIDX using XDA App
Are you on froyo stock or gingerbread stock? Because if you are using a newer version of MIUI and on the froyo kernel then youll get stuck on the bootlogo. One good way to tell if youre on froyo or gingerbread is by the boot logo, red moto=gingerbread; white moto=froyo
if ur on froyo u use dx bootloader, if ur on gb u use d2 bootstrap

I find that Droid 2 Bootstrapper works just as well on Froyo.

The way to get root found! Install sbf from attached archive and then use the "DooMLoRD_v4_ROOT-zergRush-busybox-su" (also attached in the archive) to get root. All thanks for finding this method going to bukolov1 from Ukraine.
wmz: Z403434473144
Why is the sbf file labeled as 809_2.3.5 if it is for the DX and supposed to be 4.5.621?
This rom is actually for the Milestone X, it does flash, however I cannot use *228 to get my phone on the network.
Has anyone tried zergrushing their .621?
Sent from my Transformer Prime TF201
Zergrushing .621 does not work

This is not really a root method. This flashes Milestone X rom on the Droid X, which does actually root, but the baseband is incompatible and will not work in the U.S. So you can have a rooted phone, which you can't actually use. It might be possible to CWM over the Milestone X ROM and flash a new baseband.. if I could find one.

I've heard of people using the file to SBF via Linux then flash CM9 and have a working radio.

I have not tried it, I'm being safe and not taking the OTA.
If you are on .621, though, it's at least worth a shot.

This method works. My DX's version is 621, you can remove RADIO in MB809_2.3.5.SBF use "SBFCodec.exe", remove RDL1 and CG3, save this file as no radio SBF, flash this to your DX, your DX will run under BP_C_01.09.15P, this is Verizon's baseband.
yup, it works.

This method does work. If you use the linux sbf_flash method it will not overwrite the baseband and you will keep your data connection. If you use RSD_Lite in Windows it will overwrite the baseband and you will lose your data connection capabilities.
I made my laptop a dual boot with Windows and Ubuntu just for this because I was stuck on .621 without root and had tried to flash the Milestone X .604 via Windows and couldn't get the data to work (I could've called Verizon support and had them reset it but I decided to give flashing in linux a go). So I followed posted instructions at the other sites and flashed it in linux and got root back with baseband still active.
Now I'm test driving a CM9 beta on it I got off of Rootzwiki. I am already up for renewal for my Verizon contract so I can get almost any phone they have for free or perhaps $100 out of pocket after all the discounts (new every two, loyalty, trade in of current phone) but I am waiting for the Droid Fighter to drop in about a month. It's rumored to be a quad-core Motorola phone with a 4.7 inch screen and 4G.
User 1KDS over at DroidXForums is working on making a bootable linux image (he already has a bunch) that will incorporate this Milestone X sbf for those of us that do not or did not have a linux machine handy.
Does petes root tool not work on this version?

Rsd lite

Could i use rsd lite to sbf to milestone x firmware instead if ubuntu
Sent from my DROIDX using xda app-developers app
You could flash the milestone X SBF with RSD lite however it would not do any good because when flashing an SBF in windows the radio is also flashed and the radio packaged with the milestone X firmware is not compatible with VZW. That's why we use Ubuntu to do this, because the VZW radio is left intact.

No problem I know someone created a live CD image that has everything included where all you do is run a script and boom its done for you automatically, you can just burn it and then if you ever need to sbf in the future you will be able to just boot the live disc and be ready to roll. I just can't remember where it is.. I think it might be on another forum. maybe try to Google it hope that helps

i believe those live CD images can be found here ...
