hello... i've just installed this rom and i'm havin a bit of trouble with a few things. 1.... i have no idea how to get my previous version of swype installed on this.... i would like to install the swype i had from liberty gingerbread v.9 .. i've found the old .apk i had but i don't know how to get it running.. it force closes before i can even see the keyboard after install.
and aside from that.... does anyone know how to get a more permanent recovery loader going on?? i'd like to be able to access recover without having to boot into my rom first
did you ever figure this out?
I went to the swype beta page signed up and downloaded the newest version of swype. It works just fine for me.
As far recovery, I think you just hold down vol down and camera or vol down and home to get into recovery. I know there is a trick to getting into if from the miui ROM. You can't use the reboot option in ROM manager. You have to hold down power off, use the restart option, then reboot CWM

Ok, to all of you that have read my previous thread about my phone. (washinhmachine-accident, batterydrain-issue, recoverymode-problems)
you now what trouble I have had before with this phone.
I went into Rom Manager and choosed install Rom from SD-card (had cynagoenmod there). And wiped everything, then pressed OK...
...The phone started in recoverymode and like all 200+-times before it went all black, couldnt wake up.
"**** this phone" I thought and put it in my pocket for an half-hour, then when I pressed the powermenu, I saw that the phone had Cynagoen mod has been installed properly!!
Amazing as it seems! I did press the trackball sometimes during the blackscreen, nothing seems to happend. I must had the best luck to manage to press it so that it started the installation. (or is this done automaticly when installing from rom manager for you who have tryied this?)
So clearly the recovery is there in my phone! But the screen dont work at the same time!....very very strange! And now I want to try to install the nightlys instead, but dont now if I really are going to do something while pressing the trackballbutton?
If I want to install kernels, googleapps can I install the the same way? Or is it only the ROM-files that can be installed via rom manager from that option??
I think your wildfire doesn't want you to get rid off it, which is why its doing all this magical stuff , I don't think you can instal kernels from rom manager, you can try though.

Haha, yeah it is a very magical device! Like magic muschrooms, I think thats why I am so addicted to it
@ Kevin: I think that the Gapps flashed like it should with the same method, that meens that its ok to flash other things that Roms with that option.
The thing is that I cant see the flashingprocess, I cant see if something happends. Just wait till the phone restarts again, if it does.
I pressed the trackball a few times now aswell, seems that I pressed in right order
Well then nice work, better remember the buttons you need to press , I'm sure you know each item in recovery after using it heaps anyway haha. Just google images of each option in recovery menu if youre stuck lol

haha, yeah I have been thinking of that aswell, but glad I now how it looks without images. Just hope that the buttonpresses are registrated each times, so I dont choose another option instead
The Wildfire is a weird one for sure. I can't for the life of me get it to flash different recovery images or boot images. Just getting NAND write errors. It's rooted with Unrevoked and has Clockwork recovery already installed. Might be because of flashing the new radio image, that it broke something, so gonna try and install original RUU and root again to see if it gets better. Kinda getting to hate the Wildfire a bit, cause there's other issues as well. With the Tattoo I have no issues, so I prefer to use that phone atm.
So last night all I did was change the main gmail user on my phone (since verizon gave me some generic one) to the one I always use anyway and now my phone is a mess. All my apps force close, Clockwork Mod has stopped working (I select an option and I get nothing but a black screen but if I hit the power button the main menu shows back up right away), half of my contacts are missing, and I'm beside myself with what went wrong....if Clockwork Mod and ROM Manager both don't work....am I screwed?
Thanks in advance.
EDIT: I should note I am rooted, running a stock kernel, and Redemption ROM.
Alright so I had success in re-running Unrevoked3 and it updated the Clockworkmod from version 2.5.0.5 to 2.5.1.2 however it still isn't doing anything when I tell it to install the zip file for the new ROM from the SD card. Also my apps are still crashing as soon as they open so ROM Manager is a no go...any help would be epic.
I'm a d*mn moron....I was clicking the power button to select an option in Clockworkmod so I was putting it to sleep rather than pressing the trackball and actually selecting the option....this is what I get for doing this on a sunday....Redemption Rom 2.4 is installing now....lets hope it fixes the problem.

Welcome to my world, if it can be screwed up, I'll screw it up good.
Had a *very* similar experience on my DInc running CM7. Had to force close everything in BG and allow market to update.
Everything AOK since then.
Sent from my DInc using Tapatalk
I'm all set now, flash Redemption 2.4 and it's working perfectly, the ROM must have gone corrupt some how
Glad it was just a mistake and any easy fix.
Search function is down but I did go through a few pages of threads looking for what was going on and no luck but I apologize if this has been solved somewhere else.
First off I would rate my rooting know-how as beginner to intermediate. I've jailbroken/unlocked multiple iPhones awhile back and have rooted/flashed roms on a cliq, mts, my3g, and this mt4g before.
I recently returned my current mt4g back to stock rom and unrooted. I do not think I turned s back on but I should have double checked before.
I currently have root and flashed clockwork and am trying to flash CM7 (I had ran it before on this phone as well). I have an issue right now where I cannot get into clockwork recovery as it will just sit at the mytouch logo forever and if I try and volume up and power into recovery all I get is 3 vibrations and a flashing amber light.
I can boot into the stock (but rooted) rom.
Any ideas? I feel like my recovery is broken or something but this goes beyond what I know. Any help would be great and any information you need I'll be happy to provide.
myTouch 4G, rooted, s (probably) off, stock rom, clockwork says i'm on 3.0.2.4
After reading that, I'm not fully convinced you actually have root and S-OFF. If you're sure you do, download ROM Manager from the Market and use that to install a fresh copy of CWM recovery. Also make sure the "fast boot" option is turned off somewhere under Settings. At that point, there should be nothing preventing you from getting into recovery if you have perm root.
I've got ROM Manager and it has SU permissions and I have the latest recovery flashed but I am still stuck on mytouch logo or the 3 vibrations/amber light when I try to get to recovery. If I reboot there is still no problem getting SU in terminal emulator or ROM manager or anything.
Fast boot is off as well. Thanks for the help so far.
Any ideas?
I don't often boot into recovery manually since most custom ROMs have an enhanced reboot menu with a recovery option, but if memory serves, I believe the key press combination is actually Power + Volume Down, not up like you mentioned in your OP. Give that a try.
Man I am really crazy. Here I am a tmo rep and also a novice modder and I'm hitting power + volume up.
Worked like a charm.. Now just to figure out why clockwork is sitting at the mytouch screen when trying to install CM7.
Thanks for the fresh set of eyes!

After flashing CM7, the phone hangs at the myTouch screen when attempting the first boot?
From ROM Manager if I try to flash CM7 from there it goes to the mytouch screen and hangs before anything else happens.

What if you select the "boot into recovery" option in ROM Manager? Does the phone reboot into CWM recovery? (you should see the main CWM menu in orange text)
Boot into recovery takes me to MT4G logo and hangs.

So you don't have a good installation of CWM. Open ROM Manager again and re-flash a fresh recovery. I think there's an option to wipe your existing recovery beforehand, so if you see that, select it. You need to get a working recovery image before you can do much else.
Deleted current recovery and I confirm my model again and it takes a total of 5 seconds. Trying to reboot into recovery again after and I still hang at MT4G.
I hate it when you know something you need to do but you've been working on it so long you can't come up with new ideas.
Thanks again for the help.
Sorry multipost since it didn't register on my computer the first time for some reason
Yeah sorry man, I've never heard of a situation where CWM stubbornly refuses to install. If you have the engineering bootloader, you could manually flash it that way, but that's my only other idea.
Alright well thanks for all the help man, I'll dig around and pick up tomorrow.
I ended up looking for the recovery myself on the SD card and deleted it and then it flashed no problem. Thanks again for the help

Sure, glad you figured it out.
I'm having a little trouble getting everything to run smoothly on my Nook Color CM7 install. I originally tried the latest night release and ran into a lot of force closes, apps that wouldn't run, and overall sluggishness.
So I installed 7.0.3-Encore which is supposed to be the latest stable release. I can't boot into Recovery to install gapps. I was able to boot into Recovery with the night release, but not 7.0.3-Encore. I tried 7.0.2-Encore and had the same problem.
I tried choosing "reboot" and then "boot into recovery". It just boots normally. I tried booting into recovery through the rom manager. Same thing happened.
What am I doing wrong, or what do I need to do to get this working?
Just to give a few more details. I did some more research about getting this thing to go into Recovery Mode. When I boot, I don't get the "Touch the World of Reading" text. It goes straight into "Loading". Every post that I read about getting into recovery mode says that you're supposed to release the buttons after the "Touch the World of Reading" appears. I don't get that text at all. I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong.
Next time, asking question, pls indicate you are running ROM on eMMC or booting it off uSD.
I'm pretty much having the same problem

I think that I figured mine out. There are two ways that you can get around this.
The easiest way is to bypass using Recovery at all to install gapps. When you put your ROM image on the SD card, put your gapps image on there as well. When it boots and installs the ROM, it will automatically install the gapps as well. Just make sure that you're in a wifi hotspot so that you can log in when you sign into gapps.
I think that my issue was that Clockwork recover wasn't installed on my system. If you to into the ROM Manager, there is an option at the top to install Clockwork Recovery. After you install it, choose the option in the ROM Manager to reboot into Recovery. This worked for me.
I changed to an internal memory install and EVERYTHING is 100% better. Don't do a SD Card install unless you have the correct type of sandisk class 2 card. Any other SD Card will make things super slow and will cause lots of force closes.
Much better to just do an internal memory install and then an overclock. Right now I'm running the latest nightly release and haven't had a single issue. Plus it lets you overclock it to 1200 Mhz right out of the box. Hope that helps!
Yea I bypassed recovery for the gapps install. However I did instal CWM through ROM manager and i still can't boot into recovery
I can tell you that I switched to Nightly build 152 and that I can also boot into recovery with the button combo at bootup. I hold the power button until the screen flashes and then press the Nook Button for about a second. When the loading screen appears I release both buttons, and it says that it's booting into recovery.
With this build I can also boot into Recovery from the ROM manager. You might want to consider trying out this build if you're still having trouble.
This is a guide to install cyanogenmod 7.2 on the Motorola Flipside coming from stock Froyo the fastest and easiest way.
1. Root the flipside using superoneclick
2. Download the flipout recovery apk from the flipside development section
Link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1136105
3. Download the Cyanogenmod rom from the flipside general section
Link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1517880
4. Move both the apk and the rom zip to your SD card of your device
5. Turn on your device and then install the apk.
6. After installation open the app and hit install recovery system.
7. When its done hit reboot recovery
8. After its in recovery wipe data, cache, dalvik cache
9. Install rom zip from SD card
10. When complete hit reboot system now
Note: If It does not reboot but instead bootloops, pull the battery and the boot the phone while holding the x on the physical keyboard, when the motorola symbol appears let go of the power button while still holding the x button. once you see the yellow caution symbol with the android press vol up and vol down. In this recovery wip data and cache then rebbot. it should now boot into CM7
Enjoy
Hit thanks please

Thanks. Going to try this now. Fingers crossed!
Edit: Ok. Successful install on the first try. A few problems though. 3g doesn't work (known issue) and I haven't been able to get link2sd working again just yet. There's a lot more ram to play with and the overall performance thus far is awesome. Its like my phone got a new engine. Everything is fast and zippy and runs as smooth as butter.

I didnt have that problem with mine. Didnt have to use that fix as it was working just fine without going through that. Unfortunately I bricked mine after I stupidly reinstalled the flipout bootloader again. (DO NOT do that). Its stuck in an endless boot loop. Im unable to flash the sbf for froyo through RSD Lite because the phone switches off when its plugged into the pc. Which means its bricked unless i can get an official update.zip to flash through the bootloader manually. (i doubt that would even work because you cant downgrade with an update.zip file afaik)

Why would you reinstall the flipout bootloader?? after installing the cm7 its recovery is installed as well. to enter it all you have to do is hit reboot and the recovery from your power menu. sounds like u messed up bigtime
I know. I really messed up. I think I did it to reflash the rom to bring it back to stock settings. I carried it back to the store I bought it. My warranty is still valid and they don't have the technical means to figure out whether I tampered with the software. I'll likely get a new one or another one worth the same value I paid for the flipside.
I was about to sell it to a friend anyway as I'm more interested in the galaxy nexus. I guess it's not all that bad. If I do get it or a new one back, I'll donate it to someone working on the ROM. So in the end, we all win.
