Switch off Dailer Screen Tones - Touch Diamond2, Pure General

Hi,
This may seem a stupid question, but recently i had to make a hardreser to my HTC TOPAZ, and since then whenever I use dailer screen, the keypad sounds a tone every time i press a key. This is strange because before performing the hardreset i have disabled the tones, without problems.
I contacted HTC Support Center and they indicated these steps.
From the main Home page - Start> Settings> Sounds & Display> Ring & Notifications> Notification sounds.
But I have done this before i call them and I could not turn off the tones.
Is there another step desctivas these "parasite" tones?
Compliments

Turn off keypad dialer sound
Settings -> Personal -> Phone, under Sounds set Keypad to Off.

Start Menu Screen Tap Sound

Anybody knows how to get rid/change the sound events associated with tapping the Start Menu and any of the items in its pulldown menu? These sounds cannot be disabled in the Screen taps control of Sounds & Notification. Thanks.
you can normally get rid of the sounds by unchecking the box for "Events (warnings, system events)...which can be found in the sounds and notification screen....
cheers
Didn't know that! Thanks.
change today menu sounds?
can you change the today menu sounds ? i.e. when the menu drops down, closes.
or are you ulimited to changing sounds only for the predefined events such as email/sms incoming...activesync etc?
I've tried before, and you can't get rid of the initial start menu sound, but if you go into the windows dir and locate all the .wav files, you can change the rest of them.
Though you'll find the sound for the first start menu sound amongst those and overwrite it, it won't work.

Two simple questions about audio/vibrate...

...so simple the answers remain elusive.
How do you stop a tone being played when you press the start button or select certain items? I've searched in sounds and notifications but I can't see anything there, I have standard taps disabled.
Secondly, how do I get the phone to vibrate for an incoming call - I want it to ring as well as today I was almost caught out because I didn't hear the phone ringing. There is a vibrate option in sounds and notifications but I'm not sure exactly what this one is for.
Thanks,
John
First answer:
Go to Start -> Settings -> Sounds & Notifications
then uncheck Screen Taps. Or You have third party
program like WisBar?
answer second:
Push "Green Phone button" -> Menu -> Options...
and choose Vibrate and Ring in the Ring type window.
Screen taps are already unchecked, I don't have any third party programs at all installed. It's only certain events that trigger the noise, such as tapping the start button and then choosing settings but then tapping the tabs in that folder say, will not generate any noise.
Thanks for the vibrate answer, that's it sorted.
John
You should be able to silence the Start Menu and its items' one by disabling...
Start > Settings > Personal tab > Sounds & Notifications* > [ ] Events (warnings, system events)
If that doesn't work, try a search on this forum for "start menu sound" (no quotes), and you'll find lots of older threads on how to replace the sound with your own sound ( which, if you use a completely silent wav, is 'no' sound %) )
That did the trick, thanks muchly!

How to Change "Screen Tap Sound" ?

Choice for Screen tap sound is either 1) no sound 2) soft or 3)loud. Soft or loud is just a "tkkkk" sound. Does anyone know how to change to a more ear friendly sound ?
I guess these would be hardcoded into the rom and the phone won't allow you to change them. Look under the windows directory for all .wav files. With some luck, you might be able to find it.
screen tab sounds are pretty annoying, as everyone around you will hear that you are working on your phone... i turned every sound off.
Press the Call Button -> Number Page Come out -> Menu -> Options - > Phone Tab Page -> Keypad changed to OFF
there u goes.. no sound for tabbing of buttons..

Shortcuts for silent, vibrate, one ring etc

Are there shortcuts to activate/deactivate silent mode and vibrate mode or is the menu or volume button the only way? Sometimes I want to increase the volume and switch on vibrate, which doesn't seem possible unless you go into the menu. Also is there a way to set it to one ring only, or beep mode?
You can install any of the "switch mode" widget that you can find in Market, but the fastest way to change suond profile is push the volume down button for more than 2 seconds, phone will put in silent mode, then push once volume up to set it to vibrate. Push volume up for more than 2 seconds to restore full ring
Yep, seems to be the fastest way to change the volume and set silent, a bit annoying that it beeps along the way but no big deal.
But, if you do that to set it on vibrate, it doesn't seem to work for text messages... those stay silent because they have a separate setting to vibrate. WHY?!?!!!
Always seemed like an easy thing on symbian & windows mobile, you hold one button or a couple of clicks later everything is set to vibrate, especially useful if outdoors and can't hear messages.
I just hold down the END key and select "Silent Mode". Is that not an option on your phone?
Check out egg 'n stones' "Profiles" application in the market. You can define and set profiles from the application plus you can create shortcuts to any profile. For every profile you can set the volume of the different types of sounds (alarms, notifications, media, speech, etc.) It's my favourite profile manager.
Cheers.
thanks, i'll check it out
Or just install these widgets from Jerpelea's rom page. You can find the widgets link on the palm pre theme rom, 2nd post http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=538633
There is a really nice 1 button widget that sits on your home screen and you can press it and it cycles between silet, vibrate and ring.
Just allow the phone to accept 'unkown sources' in the application menu. Then access the widgets from the sd card (save them there) and then you can install them.
I have got a wifi, Bluetooth, GPS, brightness & volume widget that all have little blue icons that match downloaded from the marketplace..
there from Rounded Labs.. All free as well
my phone started acting weird lately. I can switch to silent or vibrating mode with the volume button when I first turn on the phone, but after I make one phonecall it stops that function and starts working as a up-down button that can navigate within the menu items and such.
I have checked all of the settings options that might have an affect on this, but couldn't find anything yet.
Any suggestions as for how I can fix this?
Vibrate all??
My volume buttons controlled all the notifications and sounds on my previous Android phones. That is NOT the case on the Samsung Vibrant. It will only control the volume for the incoming call ringer. I would have to go to settings for every notification volume to lower them and set them to vibrate. The only option I've found is t set the volume all the way down to silent on the side of the phone which will silence everything. The problem is, there is ZERO notification whatsoever. No led, no sound, no vibrate.
Isn't there a way to have the volume control all the sounds and vibration mode on the phone as a global setting?

[Q] How to silence incoming calls in SwiftDroid?

Hi, I'm running Mur4ik's Swiftdroid 1.8 and I'm mostly very impressed.
HOWEVER, I can't figure out how to silence incoming calls. My old ROM let me slide right to answer the call and slide left to silence it (and slide left once again to reject the call).
I can't figure out how to get this feature back in Swiftdroid, or if it's even possible. There's an app in the market place called Flip4Silence that does an okay job (using the accelerometer) but it uses drains my battery like crazy (50% battery usage!!!!)
Help please! (I would have posted this in the SwiftDroid thread in the development forum but I'm not allowed to post in there)
press volume down to silence .................
Brilliant. Thanks for that. Although I prefer the sliding silencer of my old rom.
There are many methods to silence :
*Slide down the notification bar and press the sound button.
*From settings select sounds and tick "Silent mode"
*from settings select cyanogenmod settings then select sound and tick "Silent state"
*from settings select profiles and tick "Silent"
*the easy way by pressing volume down button
or you can get back the slide silence by doing the following :
1-settings
2-cyanogenmod settings
3-lockscreen
4-Style options
5-Lockscreen style
6-Select one of the first 3 choices
