What is the best Ereader app for Acer A500?
Depends on the taste but my prefered reader is Cool Reader.
mine is Lumiread, but also ezpdf reader is really good.
Try Aldiko for Android ePub Reader
I've been using the Aldiko ePub reader on my A500 and on my Nexus One. It works well on both platforms. It's integrated with Adobe DRM so if you need to access DRM protected eBooks, then it can handle that. It has a "store" mode that links to a number of eBook resellers. But, you can also import ePub files that you might have stored locally on a PC, or that you've downloaded from free eBook web sites.
Try it I think you'll like it.
Thank you all for your kind suggestions. Greatly appreciated.
I second Aldiko.

I just got the Touch by Sprint, Or as it is called the Elf. I am looking for a good, easy to use ebook reader. I would prefer something that uses pdf, but as ong as I an find a converter, I will use any format. I have a bunch of Ebooks on my PC that I have previously bought and want a reader were I can use them. Thanks
You can use the mobile version of Adobe Reader to read pdfs, but I think it's a bit of a pain as they don't fit on the screen in a readable resolution. I tend to use Microsoft Reader, which uses lit files. Lit files are fairly easy to find. Otherwise I use Mobipocket, which reads a few different file formats.
Mobipocket Reader is the best ebook reader for Windows Mobile. They also have a free app called the Mobipocket Creator which will convert most ebooks to a txt or other readable format. The best thing about it its 100% free.
I second the MobiPocket, it's great.
P.S. Your device if your with Sprint is the Vogue!!!
easiest way to tell, the Vogue is doesn't have WiFi. There are other differences but that's the one that will cause you to go....Ahhhhhh....
Yes mobi pocket is very good reader...
The cool thing is, you can import pdf files, and it will remove the line-breaks automatically.
I've been using mobipocket for half year, and it totally beats other reader applications (and I've tried allot).
Just getting the Vibrant from a G1 I noticed that Amazon's Kindle comes loaded on the device. If I had some ebooks installed is there a way to load these PDF files or do you recommend another alternative to using viewing ebooks?
i have not tried using pdfs with the kindle reader but the books are stored in /sdcard/kindle/ you could try sticking it there and see if it works
Put it in the dir /sdcard/kindle/ doesnt seem to be loading. Seems like it only registers pdfs/books that you have purchased from Amazon store?
Any other recommendations for a pdf viewer?
Downloaded the RFS and id love to read on the go ;p

I dont use pdfs too often so I'm not the best to answer, but I know there is an official Adobe Reader in the market
I use Aldiko for the books I can't read in kindle.
The official Adobe Reader app is a really good PDF reader in my opinion and it's free.

Same thing with Borders' eReader app. They don't allow you to read epubs or pdfs that you've copied to the phone/sd card manually. They only access your online amazon/borders library.
Aldiko is a good free epub reader.
Has anyone had any problems with their ereaders..??......I have tried multiple ereader apps such as Aldiko, Kindle, etc.......none will read any of the books I have put on the micro-sd.......I even tried converting from pdf to epub......I must be doing something wrong.......any ideas..??.......I would love to have the ereader from the Pandigital Novel, but I can't figure out how to move it over.......
What were the formats you tried?...PDF typically works fine...there are several PDF readers available...Each of these reader apps support certain formats...maybe you did not match them correctly ( meaning reader app with ebook format)...if you need a program for conversion on PC try Calibre ( freeware) ...very good ...supports magazine subscription and much more...an dthen you can move ebook in corrcet format back to Elocity ( sd card or usb)

I have both the Nook and Kindle e-readers installed from the Market and working just fine, but I have downloaded my books from their stores, not sideloaded via SD.

Even better with calibre you can run the built in web server and just download the books you want with the browser.
Personally I use FBReader for actually reading the books.

Has anyone figured out how to read books other than those bought from the Google ebook store with the Google ebook reader on the Xoom?
Kindle app? Or the kobo app?

He's probably referring to the Google Books client that is preloaded on the device. And the answer is currently no there is no way to sideload your own stuff.

overdrive, just downloaded my books from the public library
Aldiko is working fine for me. I use it because it will sync (wirelessly) to my home Calibre content server -- both highly recommended.

What he meant was to use Google reader to read e-books that is not from google store. Because Google reader has a very nice interface + make full use of the new renderscript in Honeycomb, so please don't suggest him other e-reader app
Aldiko Book Reader
Nook eReader
VuDroid
PDF Viewer
ezPDF Reader
Kindle app
Calibre
iReader
Laputa
Kobo Reader
Please don't forget to tell us which works on xoom better.
Looking for absolute reader too...
So far my favorite is Cool Reader... but one issue I have right now is my books are on the sd card in a Xoom tablet... geez. Cool Reader cannot get to it... apparently a work in progress for Xoom SD Cards.... argh! But it reads the internal storage ok and will do many types of books (epub, fb2, doc, txt, rtf, html, chm, tcr, pdb, prc, mobi, pml formats)
I will use this one but have to wait for the SD Card to show up in it....
Actually Moon Reader is good too...
I tried Moon Reader and its pretty slick too. BUT has the same SD Card problem as Cool Reader... Cant see the SD Card in Xoom tablet...
Moon reader is my fav, all it needs is 2-page landscape mode and it'll be perfect.
If anyone has .pdf Books i highly recommend ezPDF Reader, has nice Animations and works awesome on the Xoom

Have you tried fbreader? You can browse for books via file location with it, might let you browse to the sd card to load your books.

I'm trying to decide between a Xoom and an iPad 2 predominantly because I want to read comics on it. Any thoughts around a good comic reader please for Xoom? I know Comic Zeal works well on iPad 2. Would also be interested in hearing if the delay in Android updates for UK users is a big issue. By the way, I have never used Android before but have an iphone 4. Thanks.

I have got it working on my stock xoom, just can't test the sd card yet as I am waiting for my sd card to arrive. I just know one of the options is to browse for books via file location.
EDIT: My sdcard arrived and I copied my entire ebook library onto the card, works fine with fbreader being able to load the books from the sdcard, I am running a modified version of tiamat 3.2 on my xoom now.
I am currently using calibre on my PC and calibre companion to side load ebooks on my NX7. I have a few of the reader apps however, I desperately would like to use the nook reader app which I have down loaded. However, my nook reader app and my calibre companion seem to not want to sync up. I have ensured the ebooks transferred are in epub format supported by nook reader but the two apps just don't seem to register each other....any suggestions?
Download es file explorer. Move your epub files from the books directory calibre created to the nook/my documents directory. Kind of a pain but the nook app doesn't allow for an alternate location for your books. I just moved my wife to Aldiko due to this problem. Aldiko has a lot more features and has made her reading experience better.

Thank you sir, I shall check out alkido, I downloaded es files explorer but indeed the process is cumbersome to transfer to nook reader.
Check out Moon+ Reader also. It provides direct support of a Calibre Server running on your PC.
You can browse and download directly from your PC, over WiFi. No wires.
I am extremely happy with the combination of Calibre and Moon+ Reader.
