Digital Clock Stock Widget - Acer Iconia A500

Anyone having a problem with the digital clock stock widget? My widget size is 3x1 and when installed, cuts off the day/date text. Is there a 4x1 size option? Seems like something has happened to my widget. I am latest version, stock, rooted. Anyone else having similar problem? It's very aggravating.

Mine did this last Sunday and has been the same ever since. I have rooted but am still running latest stock firmware
Craig

But I believe it's always been like that.
The Day text is cut off and shifted down a line so it shows:
Wednes
day
Rather than:
Wednesday
I don't use a clock on my screens though as there is one in the lower right corner.
EDIT
Ah looking back on some earlier Tab images used as promo's it is clear it should be the Day and Date in 1 line... Not sure what could be causing this. *scratches head*

I solved the problem by going into settings/applications/digital clock and uninstalling the updates. Seems like the latest update screwed my digital clock up. Once I did that, it works like it should and doesn't cut off anything...day/date on first text line, and city on second text line. And, the size of the widget is now 5x2. I knew something wasn't right with the size. That's why it was cutting off the day/date text.
woo hoo.

Mine did that when I tried to set the city name to nothing (blank).
Setting a name fixed it.
I see now that that doesn't work. Sorry for the misinformation.

Can't find any updates to remove to fix widget size.
Re jyams's fix, I've the same problem but can't find any way to uninstall any clock updates.
Is this because mine's not rooted?
The fact that the day is show followed by a comma tells me that the widget size is the problem.

More confused than ever
Just noticed that when the tablet comes out of standby, awaiting the padlock to be dragged, the original, properly displayed time widget is displayed. It has a different font but isn't truncated, it's as if I'm using the wrong widget on the homepage.

anyone find a fix? Mine was normal until I decided to rearrange my Widgets and deleted the stock one now I have this problem.

I had the same issue once, messed with it for like a day trying to get it to work...finally figured out that if I lock the rotation with the switch then reboot, it causes the clock widget to malfunction. Playing with the rotation lock switch, making sure to end up in the unlocked position, then rebooting fixed it for me. Don't know if it will work for you, but worth a shot.

HTC clock widgets constantly fidgeting

Does it bother anyone else that whenever you switch back to the home screen, the clocks reset the hands and do the little animations to spin to the correct location? The flip clock does it like it used to in TF3D too, the numbers flip over until they catch up. It seems such a waste of time and cpu cycles. I've tried the default Android clock and it is much calmer, it is always at the correct time regardless of whether you switch back or not. The down side is it isn't as attractive and doesn't take you to the clock app when you press on it.
Anyone else annoyed by this?
Indeed I find it a little annoying...not tried the different clock....
one question, are you able to change the type of clock on your profile?
I seem to be only be able to select different front clocks under different profiles (Scenes) so you are stuck with that clock for that scene?

You can just remove it, then add an HTC Widget and select 1 of 12 clocks (think its 12)

Genuie!!!!! Thanks dude!!!
I also found that when I changed my clock to the small one (so it still fits in the same space on the home screen), my Hero became much more responsive. It still adjusts the time with an animation every time I go to the home screen, but it seems way better. Others have suggested removing the People widget, but for me it was just a change of the clock.
Bugs the hell out of me, so much so I had to remove it.
Hope the new update fixes this problem.

I like seeing the clock flip over! I'm sure it does it by design too, it's not a fault/bug.

It is a fault, the clock widgets can't store the time. So everytime you enter the idle screen it updates the clock.

I don't believe it's a fault either, judging by the way it is animated. It is just designed not to update whilst not visible.
Regards,
Dave
Most if not all of the HTC clock widgets do the animation.
However, on the leaked video of the new speedier ROM, I notice the clock never updates like that, even though it is the big one with weather combined. It just changes immediately, so maybe that is part of the speed up...
i use the smallest one, digital, but not a flip. number 5 i think it is.
yes, if you look closely you can see it update when you go back to the homescreen, but it is so fast, most of the time i don't notice it, and i'm certainly not gonna sit there trying to see it happen, cos it's really not that important to me...
Maybe they added a setting to enable / disable clock animation ?
Hope so as I quite like it.
On the CDMA Hero there seems to be a bug... IN the Clock app, home location and current location show the correct time but most HTC clock widgets insist on displaying the GMT time. What's up with this?

Nexus One Clock Display

Okay, so I've noticed that on both my lock screen and Clock app, that my alarm clocks don't show up as the Human Readable time format. For example, I have an alarm set for 6am tomororow (1/12/2010), and when the lock screen is showing it has the alarmclock icon and show "1263294000000" next to it, which is the epoch time for 1/12/2010 6:00:00 am. It also does this in the clock app on the app's home screen, but if I go into the alarms screen it shows up fine.
Anyone else experiencing this?
Weird. Mine shows up in a normal time. I've tried looking through the clock app, and system settings and couldn't find a way to replicate your issue.
Since yours is rooted it may have something to do with what youve flashed to it so far.
Or maybe not cause im rooted with cyan and just tried and it appeared fine

Lol. Yah. I've got a few friends around here that have basically the same setup. Not really an issue, more a nuisance. But I seriously don't get it. I'll probably try and reset later today and recreate it. I was just curious if any one else noticed this.
Strange.
I have another question for the clock app:
Is there a way to turn off the charging light and the backlight on the capacitive buttons when in the dimmed clock app mode? The screen is actually quite nice and readable in the dark but the bright lights next to it are annoying / wash the screen out some.
Maybe it's something in Locale settings? That's where I'd look.

Trust me, I went through just about every possible 'setting' i could possibly think of. I'm assuming it has something to do with a program i have installed. I haven't had the time to do a reset yet, but plan on giving it a shot later.
Here's what I know though, its not normal, and its not because of root. Seems no one else is having this issue. lol, WTF.

sense clock/weather acting up tonight

my stock rooted sense rom has a giant clock with some animated weather stuff overlay-ed. it it messing up.
it shows the weather as 0, even though its about 23
there is no high or low info
it just says delphi (my city) to the left underneath side of my giant clock
i can add citys as they added cities seem to work, but these added city cant be "my current" city
i did a nandroid back up and did a factory reset and set the phone back up and the weather did the same thing
so i did a backup restore and it once again it was still acting up
i have the weather set to "current location" and drove to another city and it change city's but still couldn't display the animated icons on the home screen or one the weather widget was actually opened
when i scroll through the other two citys i set up the weather becomes animated but not on the home screen
i have deleted the widget and created a new one- no change
i tried to add my city manually but cant because it isn't listed when i type it in
any help would be apprecitaed
there is a chance that there is a software problem and i maybe didnt foramt the phone correctly but i doubt it.
yeah htc servers are acting up.
might be working for some now?
Same here, all night mine has only said the time, Springfield(my city), and the date. That's all. I'm rooted with Ava v10 and modded blue sense clock.
Sent from my EVO's 4G You?........I thought so

Clock widgets stop working on ICS

I have been seeing an issue on my Arc S where, after playing something quite memory intensive (such as Draw Something). when I return to the home screen my clock widget is not showing the correct time (see screen shot - note the time in the top-left is different to the widget). It's driving me nuts. Any ideas? Here's what I know:
I have seen this on GB before back when I first got my Arc S in December last year. Again when using a lot of memory (Maps for example). So it isn't necessarily a new issue.
It is much worse since the official release of ICS. I don't remember if this happened on the beta but it's possible I wasn't using my phone to play as many games.
It affects all the clock widgets I've tried. I have tried the supplied analogue clocks, digital clocks and the HTC Sense 4 clock pictured.
Sometimes if I leave the screen on the clock will sort itself out.
Sometimes it stays like this for good until the widget is deleted and re-added.
Sometimes locking the screen for a little while will fix it.
A full reinstall doesn't fix this.
I am now on 4.0.4 (clean install last night) and the issue persists.
I am running the stock ICS kernel with CWM (from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1591279)
I know of one other user having this issue (and he's on Arconium)
I think this is probably an issue with the Sony Launcher but any suggestions are welcome because it's most annoying that I can't even rely on my clock widget to tell the right time!
I might try the Nexus launcher and see if the problem persists.
So I tried the stock ICS launcher (Launcher2) and the same problem exists.
Perhaps this is a kernel problem.

Your clock widget gets killed due to out of memory when you run heavy applications . See "Running Services" at Settings>Applications. You will notice that the widget is 'restarting'.
Sent from my LT15i using XDA
So why doesn't it restart properly? Seems odd. Even if the launcher reloads completely the clock stays "stuck".
Guess I'll have to live with it.
I could give SuperCharger a go and try to make the clock widget HTK...
This also happened to me while I was on Gingerbread, and I was unable to find a solution...
P.S. I accidentally pressed thanks button on your last post rec71, LOL

Does your weather app update regularly?

Mine doesn't. I have to manually update it even though I have the weather in home screen. This is stupid. It's there a way to update like hourly?

Yep
How?
How?
Think mine does as well.
There are times I'm not paying attention to the weather and the temperature # will change on the widget without me opening the app and manually refreshing.
Have seen it happen on at least 2 occasions that I can recall. Don't really use the weather app that much in the first place
My weather widget doesn't update. I've heard it might be a bizarre issue where it doesn't update in the EU region. Possibly a GDPR confirmation missed at one point. I didn't want to try this method for my reasons, but you could try setting your phone region to India, for instance, creating the widget and letting it detect your location. If that succeeds, you can revert to your region and the thing should then work, in theory. Let me know if you succeed.
I not working ,you can set up automatic update at night. Between 23 and 7!! Who need update when sleep.
I use Google widget At a glance and its working without any problem. Everyone have it in widget - Google
Only option I have is overnight crap. The weather is so unstable in this part of the world. I need to be able to update at least hourly, automatically of course.
Even if it does update during the night, at 6pm your widget will still be showing weather from 7am
I tried "simple weather & clock" by difer, which almost made it. I realized if you use 3rd party weather app, the time on notification bar stays on, in home screen. Which is annoying because I only want 1 big time shown on weather app that also allow me to access timer and alarm. Who needs 2 of same time shown on home screen? I rather have defect stock weather app, looks neater at least..
I also have the clock always in the status bar. Except for when a notification arrives, or right after unlocking it. It's connected to the default launcher and I'm using the Poco Launcher. I need my app drawer
If you don't want the clock in the status bar, you could use the MIUI clock only widget, and then just a separate widget for the forecast.
