Exchanging pad for dead pixel- - Galaxy Tab 10.1 General

I just noticed my tab has a bad pixel, lower left. Going back to best buy, and now I'm thinking about purchasing from Costco so I have 90 days should something like this happen again.
I don't understand why these things have so many flaws, not the sgtab alone, but all mobile devices..... frustrating.

Would you return it for one stuck green pixel?

Title says it all got one stuck in the center, green. Only super noticeable on shades of grey.

Well if you're lazy like me then no. But if you feel like you've been conned out of your money then return it.

sure... you paid a fair deal for the phone- if you're dissatisfied, then samsung/retailer should rectify it.
but it does sound like lots of hassle for a single pixel.
of course...especially when you will be noticing it, everytime when you look at it
i'd return it . im sure now you see and look at the dead pixel everytime you look at the screen as you have already spotted it.
Well, kind of how I feel guys.

Probably not, depends on how noticeable it was.
If everything else works fine, there is always the chance you'll return it and get something far more annoying.
It reminds me of friends who used to return monitors that had a bad pixel.

Yes I definitely would. Not sure if they'll accept the return though because of just one dead pixel.
yeah im sure it will be fine with exchange to newset.

I would return a monitor for one. I haven't had a dead pixel in a monitor in a very long time.
This one is pretty noticeable being in the center and all.

I would definitely exchange it coz i know how annoying that one dead pixel is.. i had a iPhone like that and i took it to apple store and they exchanged it for me.
I would definitely return it.
You deserve a new and defect free screen when you have paid for a new device.
Definitely I would. You'll never forgive yourself if u don't do it

Talking with the vendor, hoping they take care of me. They have a pretty awful policy on the books there though at 11 dead pixels for a return...
They're talking to the supplier, i will keep you posted.
Aren't there any apps that force colours to all the pixels which then, in turn, might unlock the green one?

Just found 'Pixel Fixer V 2.0' and its free. Give it a go. You can't lose really.
Sent from my GT-N7000 using xda premium
Exactly, there are methods of fixing dead pixels with a good chance of success. I would definitely google it and try them out (and maybe try to figure out which may be best for AMOLED screens).
Then, if nothing works and the dead pixel is in some annoying place I would ask for a replacement.

Even if you don't mind, say in the off chance you sell it later - and the buyer notices it and decides not to - you'll regret not getting a new phone.

CowBoom Mobile Blowout Sale Today

Although I hate BestBuy's guts with a passion, their online "deal" site is doing random phone deals for phones off contract. It's random, so I can't say what you'll find, but maybe (one in a million chance) they'll actually have a good deal.
Anyways, here it is:

It's hit and miss. There a a bunch of threads on slickdeals. Some people got nice devices where others have gotten devices that have been beat to hell.

Bought a nexus 7 and still on the fence

So I bought a nexus 7 from office depot. It is unopened because after reading all the threads on here Im a little worried about the problems it will have. Im wondering if anyone has had any experience returning the device through office depot? Im also on the fence after hearing all the problems with the device it sounds like a huge headache. Looking to get some other users inputs on the nexus 7 device and if anyone's dealt with returning theirs at office depot. Also If you think I should purchase it from another store.
I've had no issues with the two I purchased from Staples. I wouldn't buy a pencil at Office Depot, the stores/people here SUCK!
I bought mine at Futureshop (here in Canada) and I was pretty hesitant as well in opening it after seeing all these threads about the issues people were having with theirs. But to my relief it was a good model. No visible defects with it.
Staples has a 14 day return policy on electronics. Keep that in mind when buying in store.
This is what all these negative threads are doing. Just open and start using, it's a great device.

I bought it at ABT in Glenview, IL. I had a problem with mine and ABT did not have any issue to exchange it for me.
I have not shopped at office depot for a while but when I did, i never had any problem return/exchange.

Office Depot has the same policy but once it's open only store credit. What's Google plays return policy?

You can return for a full refund at Staples if there is a problem with the device, even though it's been opened.

more like i dont want to get burned again I had a Samsung droid charge worst smartphone I have ever used. I just want to make sure that all these complaints are not as widespread as they are made out to be.
You're not gonna see everyone praising it on forums, they are here to resolve issues and report problems. My 7 is flawless.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda app-developers app
You bought it already. Just open it and find out. It's completely worth it if it's got a good display. And if it's defective, you can get it exchanged.
And I'm saying this as a person that has gotten two defective Nexus 7s and am currently waiting on number 3 (from Google Play). At least with your retail store purchase, you can exchange it the same day (if they have stock) if it's defective.
I got mine from Staples a week ago tomorrow. An absolutely flawless unit as far as I can tell. It was the only Nexus they had in stock, but it has no issues.
If there are in fact problems with it, I am obviously less observant/picky than other owners. I am yet to notice anything wrong
I wish people would stop saying the same exact thing in each of these threads....
nexus 7 is a fast and great little device.
go buy it now if you get a bad one take it back until your happy
Nexus7 is awesome. I have no problems with it. I purchased mine at staples.

The first batch of Nexus 7s seem to be a little faulty, but that's expected with any brand new product. I just got mine from Staples on Sunday and it's perfect. They said their previous shipment was defective and had to send it back and mine was from the new batch that had just come in the previous day. If it's defective, return it and get another one. Easy enough.
Got mine from Office Depot a week ago and it is flawless. None of the problems people here are reporting.

Just curious.
Sent from my SPH-L710 using Tapatalk 2
Yes for me.
Envoyé depuis ma Nexus 7.
yes. Google's RMA is fast and painless.
Yes I would.
Themes and apps isn't really the right section for this.
It would depend where the pixel is for me.
just noticed I posted in wrong forum. I was using the Tapatalk app and forot which section I was in
If I just bought it, yes. If I've owned it for several months and a single pixel went out I probably would not exchange it for the lottery reburb I would get (assuming they would even warranty it...I don't know what their pixel policy is).
Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk 2
I did, what sucks is that it was clear until I did the update about an hour after turning it on, rebooted...and there it was, laughing in my face. Got my replacement and the only issue I have now is very slightly raised screen, no problem though, I see there are fixes for that if I really feel like it.

I find myself in the same situation.
I ordered online from Futureshop.ca (Canada)
I am about 6 days out of the 14 day exchange policy as I went on vacation and am just now getting to play with the tablet.
I have 1 dead pixel, now that I know it's there it is buging me, I also have screen flicker with low wifi issue, no lifting though.
Called Google, told me to call Asus.
Called Asus and got an RMA but I have to pay for shipping to Asus, I am worried I will get back a tablet with screen lifting!
Going to take my changes and send it in I guess.
oz
No. I have one white pixel but you only notice it if you are actively search for it and only on a complete black screen. Doesn't bother me at all.
I thought I have just one dead pixel, but I found others, on different colors.
I am not able to return my Nexus 7, but I would do it if I could.
Sent from my GT-I9100 using xda premium
for sure i would no way would i accept any new electronic purchases that came with defects
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda app-developers app
Yep. Why anyone wouldn't is beyond me. Not doing so is basically encouraging less QC to be needed (if your bugging ASUS about RMA's they'll probably learn to make their devices better; whereas not bothering ASUS about issues will probably allow them to lack more and more on QC).

I'm screwed if I break my Epic!!!!!!

best buy has none any more, here in Va Beach, I JUST found that out when my wife got home from taking my oldest to Best buy with his broken Epic, the forced an upgrade on him so now my wife has a Iphone ( ewwww) and my oldest son has her old HTC evo 3D, but the store manager said they told my wife that the Epic is no longer made and if I break mine I get a free upgrade, only problem in the only Samsung is the SII, other than that its a keyocreia, or a LG optimus, and another phone that I have never heard of So I guess when I do finally decide to upgrade I will have to leave the Epic for dead
Orrrrrrr...be careful and take care of it. I have my original still gotten 2 weeks after release.

+1! I've dropped mine numerous times, once even into the snow (screwed up the charging port for a couple of days) and this phone just keeps going.
Kinda disappointed, I'd love to have a free upgrade... oh well.

I got my Zagg invisible shield professionally installed right after I got my epic, and put it in the commuter case right after. A couple weeks ago, I had the invisible shield replaced under the lifetime warranty after a knife in my pocket had gouged it. When I took the case and screen protector off, my epic looked brand new. The only part that is worn at all is the keyboard, and it is _very_ worn. =)

It may have its shortcomings and limitations compared to other phones currently available, but the photon q runs circles around the Epic.
I love my epic, and I love cm9, and I'm not jumping ship yet, but come on.

eh. I was wrong. i rebooted and its fine again... ive only been able to kill the epic twice. once from mass amounts of vomit. once from the drunk girl.
I wish every time my car acted up I could just shut it off and restart it to make it work right.

Wait wut please clarify...I upgraded from my Hero on october 6 of 2010 at bestbuy, but I signed a 2 year contract (I believe it was $250 at the time lol) so if I were to stick with best buy and upgrade again, they will deduct the epics full retail value from back when I got it from an unlocked phone? I still hve the original receipt and upgrade papers/contract..

You can occasionally find good phones on cowboom.com. I got into the Samsung Epic because I found it on CraigsList and the ESN wasn't bad -- but it was locked to someone else's account (gr!). Had to port it to cricket, since it was basically stolen.
Talked to a few of the cricket flasher people -- and they said you can find GOOD phones on cowboom. So, I searched Cowboom and got another Epic. The trick to getting a good one (mine said it was covered in scratches -- it was pretty much brand new) is to look for one that has nearly everything included with it as far as accessories. Mine showed as a poor quality, but it was flawless.
Search fairly often and you should be able to find one. Like the others said, get a case and a screen protector. I use a Seidio Active and love it.
