Just noticed this morning that the top paid apps tab is missing from all categories in the market. Was this something that changed recently or have I broken something? Running SlideMeRoot5r1.
edit: paid apps are still visible, just the top paid tab gone.

I can't see them either :\
I have a brand new one, completely unrooted and I don't see it either.

omg me too, I thought my phone was messed up. I would like someone to fix this please. I'm really mad at it. I can't even see if theres an update available on my apps for instance, google maps.
Also does anyone have a problem w/ installing apps from market??? Everytime I try n install a new app in the notification bar it says its done but when I go to the "my downloads" it has that progress bar looping and doesn't stop unless I reboot the phone or kill the market. Kinda weird...anyone else get the same thing??? Oh yeah, its brand new and unrooted so idk if that matters.

Ive been having the same problem since about midnight last night.
Which problem the tabs or the same thing as me???
Sent from my T-Mobile myTouch 3G Slide using XDA App
Well, I did have a problem with the progress bar for installing apps, but the apps installed fine, so I didnt think anything of it.
As of right now the missing Paid tab is my main problem.
Yeah they installed fine, but its kinda a pain when I want to uninstall an app rite away lol. Did this stop happening to u or its still going on for u too???

Yep, just tested it, and its still doing the same thing.
Progress bar moves along fine when its downloading, but it will say "Installing..." on the downloads page even after Ive gotten the notification that its installed. I can go into my app drawer and see it there, uninstall it, and the progress bar still doesnt disappear on the downlaods page. Only way to make it go away is to force stop the market as you said earlier.
It must be something bigger than just the couple of us, because from the couple people Ive seen on here reporting it, weve all got this problem under different circumstances. For instance, I just wiped my phone, havent got root though. People with root have it too. Even you, who has a brand new phone has this problem.
Something tells me were going to be hearing a lot more reports of this soon.
Yeah, glad to hear it not just me, hopefully they'll give us an ota update to fix this kind of stuff.

I just tipped Engadget, hopefully they'll test out their Slide, and we'll see just how isolated this issue is...

Yeah I have the exact same issue. Thats been going on for a few days for me tho. I just kill the market when I'm done.

Another midnight has passed, and the problem still persists.
Please tip Engadget, and whatever your favorite gadget site is...lets get this known so something can be done!
I'm having the same issue now "Paid Apps" tab on my Nexus One. Kinda the same boat...I've had the issue since around midnight last night. Hopefully we get a fix soon.
I have a a non rooted mytouch slide, been rebooted 4 times today and no issues with the market, showing top paid and so forth just fine.
My Market seems to be working fine, sort of, I can see the paid apps tab everywhere I go, but I have seen the installing in the notification bar issue. Maybe there is some update coming or something.
I don't have the missing tabs issue but I have had certain paid apps not showing up since I updated to slidemeroot5r1.
Can someone else see if fandango and ride hopper full show up in the market for them? Neither do for me now and fandango is free. Only thing I can think of is copy protected apps that go in app-private aren't showing up and somehow know I'm rooted?

Fandango is showing up not only on the Featured page for me, but also in a search. I can also see Ride Hopper full and lite through a search.

Are you rooted or stock?
Now I'm starting to wonder if things are tied to our gmail accounts......

I know there's issues with the update. Could anyone that hasn't done that yet try something. When you go to the market, search for "callfilter pro" the pay for, not free, version. I know its foreign currency. I just want to know if its just me or are people running stock experiencing this too.
Thank you
You won't see protected apps in the market yet with I07. Google has yet to update the market with the signature of the I07 update. Someone dropped the ball on getting the market updated in conjunction with the update.

Do u guys think its safe to install Sprint's new Total Equipment Protection App? Im kinda worry that with the app they could tell our devices is rooted and refuse to give us a new device if needed.
I wanna use it because it coz has cool stuff like GPS ur device online and stuff

Epic isn't supported. Go on the website. As of Monday, the Epic was the only Android phone not supported by the app.
Eh, it's on the supported devices page, but they have the wrong picture and say only 2.1 is supported.
With that said, I have it installed on my stock EB13 with no problems, and I just tried the "locate my phone" thing and it worked just fine. Unfortunately I have no idea if it would be able to tell if you are running a custom ROM or anything, but I plan to uninstall it before I root and load up a new ROM again, just to be safe.
well it is possible that they can see what os we are running as it pulls the info from the device. websites do this all the time. we hear reports of an android version like 2.3 or 2.4 showing up in access logs of who visited the site... i would think the app would do something like that also. so i would not use it... i use lookout mobile security.
To be honest, that app scares the crap out of me. I don't need Sprint telling me they will not support my device anymore cause they had an application that told them what was happening on my phone. I would much rather use another application. Would suck if I had hardware failure, and they decided they will not replace it under warranty because of the evidence they have on hand to show that I was using root and foreign Roms.
I installed the app on my rooted dk28 epic and ill let you guys know. I'll know in the next couple days.
It does not work on my custom rom. I'm running Nebula, which declares itself in about phone. TEP program probably checks version numbers.
AFAIK this app won't run on a modded Epic for some reason. I hear it runs fine on the Evo roms.
i wounder if sprint can tell if your rooter and custom from just connecting to data services such as 3g and or 4g? They could pull simple things like version numbers... we could blame it on the 20 apps that google pulled that rooted phones....

There is another thread hanging around that would be of interest to you. Try the search

I've been up late tonight, and just so happened to stumble across this article over at AndroidPolice. Figured it might interest some people here since it includes our phone.
http://www.androidpolice.com/2011/1...e-numbers-gps-sms-emails-addresses-much-more/
Here's the thing, though. They recommend uninstalling the offending apk immediately, which I tried.....Unfortunately that gives me repeated force closes over and over and over while the system tries to run it, to the point where I had to restore to a backup. So what do we do about this?
UPDATE: You can remove HTCloggers.apk...all you have to do is restart afterwards.

Yes and no.
Yes because so many users run Sense.
No because I run AOSP.
Frankly, I wonder how many other serious flaws there are.
I can name several apps that want their hands on permissions they have no business in [Facebook for one]
Its like 1984 for sure. There's an article in the new section here at xda that talks about some of the other vulnerabilities as well.

Many devs remove these programs and such to remove ciq. I can't find the thread right now, but it reads just about everything. It's so deeply imbedded into the framework.
It reads every button you press on your keyboard.
Every text you send and receive.
Every app you use and download.
The pages you browse on using the internet browser.
It even goes as far to read any spot on your screen that you touch.
This is spyware to the extreme. Sprint and HTC will say its not "spyware" and say its used only for marketing to determine how phones are being used to further develop for the current trends in smartphones. It's very possible they could steal personal info with this. Is it currently happening? Uhh...probably not, but there will still be a lot of paranoia about it.

Sounds like a really good reason to stay with AOSP to me...
very True Haha

Some of us haven't forgotten the XCP rootkit that was on some Sony BMG titles in 2005... hope HTC doesnt suffer a similar demise like Sony eventually has of late.
This has been removed from MikG.
This is exactly why I'm AOSP. (that and sub-100MB ROM files)
I read the article too- (I have an Androidpolice/Android Central) feed in my Pulse reader....
I already knew CIQ and such were slimy embedded spyware...but the Treve app- spotted stuff I hadnt deleted already... Sprint sent me a "letter" about bandwidth usage and We-KNOW-what-Your-Doing" ----
I'm not amused by HTC/Sprint's collusion... leaving our bottoms out there in the cold for anyone to do whatever with.....
I bet even money my phones been cloned... sometimes I can't use it for calls .. recently -and I'd not had a single missed call or problem in a year.
I'm not a happy camper.. worried about my credit card #'s and really really am annoyed by HTC sliming us this way...
to the tune- that it'll be an icey cold day in hell before I'd consider buying another HTC phone for anyone in my family- (my family has 3 Evo 4g)...
We are not amused.....

AMEN
it appears to me that this file has already been removed from MikFroyo. At least, I can't find it...
BTW, you can just remove it using TIbackup, but you'll have to restart to get rid of the repeated force closes. Simple fix, and I've done the same for CarrierIQ as well.
It was removed from sprint lovers rom as well... I couldnt find it at least
I removed HtcLoggers.apk from mine and after rebooting (force close loop) it seems to be working fine. However, is there an old log file still on the phone that can be read by some Spyware app that needs to be removed or does all this data need to come from the logger app itself? If there still is a log, I'm sure it has enough info to still steal my ESN and other stuff.
Wow! Glad I run custom ROMS
Ever since the update to Pandora with the refreshed UI, it FCs and locks up my phone any time I run it. If I leave my phone alone, the songs will play like they should, but as soon as I unlock my screen, the first song that played when I opened Pandora is still listed as the current track, and the "Wait or Close" dialog box is up. And then I have to pull my battery, because nothing happens when I hit either Wait or Close.
Is anyone else having this issue or know of a solution? I'm on a Verizon rooted/busyboxed/debloated S5 and Pandora worked perfectly with it until the update. So I'm doubting that it's the phone.
Thanks,
Z
I'm having the exact same issue with Pandora on my S5. Not too happy about it either since I pay for Pandora One and primarily use Pandora through my phone. I emailed them today about the issue. I'll update this when I get a reply from them.
There's quiet a few 1 star reviews in the Google Play store after the most recent update, complaining about the same issue, so the problem seems pretty widespread.

ThankĀ“s
Pandora 5.7 is malfunctioning on rooted S4
Same issue on my rooted S4 running hyperdrive, except, it continues playback but it black screens when touchresponse freezes! I also have to battery pull and it sucks! Pandora Dev's!!!! Quit trying to be like IHeartRadio!!!!!! you guys were the first! just keep it simple and try not to sacrifice sound quality, speed or selection for appearance...no one cares when they use it on their phone...We set the station, plug in the AUX cable and walk away! that's it! one more thing, I know it's not because we're rooted because there are many people experiencing the same issue who are not rooted and customed rommed!!!! I would suggest that you investigate what it is with samsung phones that are interfering with your new "5.7" build?!?!?!.... sounds like most of us samsung user's are going to switch over to IHeartRadio or Spotify until you fix this trainwreck! Thanks.
I got a reply from Pandora support last night, asking for some more info (android version, phone version, carrier, etc) and further description of the issue so that they can forward it to the engineering team.
I responded this morning, so we'll see how long it takes to hear back from them.
Sickbox9, I forgot to mention in my original post that my s5 is rooted (but not running a custom rom). Like your said, I highly doubt that's the issue tho since non rooted users are having the exact same problems.
same problem here. I am running an adblocking hosts file and I thought that could be the cause.
has anyone tried rolling back to 5.6?

I just rolled back to 5.6.2 So far so good
