I got a new evo and it already has 2.3.3 so my voice search dont work ,any fix on that ??
Go to settings, then Search and hit menu and there's something you install.
I know that's cryptic but I've been MIUI for awhile
yeah...ya lost me on that one lol thanks but have no clue what you mean
Yep, get in line with the rest of us waiting for root, check the forums daily for news, and when we finally can root, install a working Rom.

Ive been trying to look for a way to pull swype from a stock Mytouch and install it on my rooted Mytouch. Haven't found much information. Anyone have ideas on what to search for exactly or any insights ?

the only other thing you can do is use the ADB. However offering software, or requesting software that is paid, or only available a "testing group" is against TOS of XDA.
Thanks for all the replies, im going to try the beta for right now... and i wasnt requesting any software, i was just asking for tips/suggestions...
Thanks to all though, im doing more research on adb...
which command though can i use to pull an installed application ?

Since swype comes preinstalled on the mytouch, it does not go against its tos to pull it, distribute it or install it on another rooted mytouch as long as it is the same version that comes on the phone.

I know you weren't asking for it. I was just squashing that bug before someone else asked.
you should go to the g2 apps section they have a app called swype restore works on my mt4g it pulls the swype files from a backup that has swype and installs it on to the rom your using

You answered your own question. adb pull will pull a file from the phone.

Go to the cm faq sticky. There's a post on getting the stock swype back on, but I would just join the swype beta program and download the latest swype beta from their website. That's what I did and I think it's better than the mt4g stock version. It has voice to text button too. My 2¢

I'm assuming this will work. Don't know much about much but
Adb pull system/app/swype.apk c:/
Is this against tos? If it is I have no intention of breaking the rules, plz delete the comment

Hi
I have read over and over again on how to root and still not understand it. I read wiki and for some reason I dont know if its my computer or my phone anyway I would really really appreciate any help you can give a noob. I have downloaded the froyo eco5. And it stinks and I would really like to learn how to install a custom rom. I used to be able to do it on my Samsung Omnia but that was easier. Im going to be on all afternoon so if someone has the time I would really appreciate it
Thanks
Jeff
Well if u want to root there's a 1 click root in the dev section I would say do the one with clockworkmod 3.0.0.6 it converts u to ext4 and most roms now require clockworkmod 3 anyways. Make sure u read good and have a rom ready to flash cuz if u do cwm3 when u first boot into recovery it will convert u to ext4 and u have to flash a rom right afther its done. DO NOT REBOOT THE PHONE until u flash the rom that is very important. Good luck buddy

If you go to the epic 4g cookbook thread, itg give links to pretty much everything about the epic 4g. Look up epic cookbook in the search. Hope this helps!

Watch these videos, if you still can't get it just give up
Don't turn off your phone unless nothing is happening for at least 10 minutes, make sure you have USB debugging on in Settings>Applications>development and do not hit "Connect USB" when using one click root.
I know this is noobish and my not be possible but Im a dreamer!
I attempted to port tmobile mobitv app to the acer using the titanium back way that worked for the viber app (dont remember his name but thanks again!)
It went and actually registered this time as being a back up in the system but I can not get it to reinstall it. There is one in the app market for the dall streak 7 and vibrant.
So what im asking is (as im not a developer or hacker and dont know what Im doing in that respect) is there a way to get it to work or has someone done it already and Ive missed it? can someone do it that knows how to import code? The most code Ive done is su commands to root a mytouch 4g.
So to sum
Is it possible or should this thread be deleted
Is anyone willing to work on it?
can anyone give me a tip as to if this has already been done?
Hi everybody, I just bought a HTC Desire HTC after my SGSL, so I'm new to it ! can anyone tell me where to find a thread for begenning things like flashing, rooting, ....

When you signed up, you agreed to a little thing called searching.
Sorry bub, but we do need a little effort on your part before we start helping you out.
After you have searched a little, sure, come back and ask what you need.

Great post to use when rooting for the first time
Thank's guys
This is the only tool you need to root and gain an unlocked bootloader.
http://tau.shadowchild.nl/attn1/
Download the advanced ace hack kit and read its manual. Don't use HTCDEV to unlock your bootloader that will only give you problems later.

And what about Installing custom ROMs ?
You've shown no initiative by searching, the answers are there, its in your interest to find them.

The advantages of root are the same as on your old device.
You can, there are a lot of tutorials around that show exactly how.
Through a custom recovery
Just disable root. Use search
Your a big boy (I suppose) use search and do some research.

Yes men, before i post this i search a find awsner´s , but in this forum are so many post´s of the same but with different awsner that i put my question here!
I wanna root my nexus 4 and try other ROM´s , but i don´t know if i after install a custom ROM and then flash the Stock again and for example, the Android 4.4 KitKat get´s release if i go check my update will be there for i update, you know what i mean ? can you awnser that for me please ?
But i will have some research, and thank you for your awsner and sorry for anything.
Just root it and play around with all the custom roms. The curiosity will eventually make you do it and if you end up not liking it u can always go back to stock.
Is there any way to change font style without rooting nexus 4? I'm really frustrated with this font style.! Please advise!

No, to install fonts you need to have access to the /system partition which you do not have unless you are rooted.
Rooting a nexus is very easy though.

Yes, you do. But with apps like titanium and carbon, you've got everything backed up. Everything else is synced with google. I don't find it too hard to do full wipes after the second time you do it.
