MMS messages won't load in AmeriCanAndroid - HD2 Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting and Genera

I'm running the AmeriCanAndroid mod from this site on my HTC HD2. Everything runs smoothly except that I cannot receive MMS messages from SOME people.
I used to have a messaging program that I got from the Android Market which allowed me to change the receive settings so that the phone basically pretends to be a different brand of phone. That way I was able to download MMS messages by pretending to be a Nokia E90 or Iphone. Unfortunately I can no longer remember what app that was. (Sorry if this doesn't make much sense, I'm new to this.)
Now my issue is that I'm either using the original messaging program on the Android or Handcent but I can't receive MMS messages from most of my friends. Yet I'm capable of sending them. When I receive an MMS all it says is "<no subject>". I can press that message and select "view slideshow" but nothing shows.
All MMS work fine if I'm on the normal WinMo6.5.
On a side note: is there any way of improving the battery life? My phone never lasts a whole day without needing to charge it.

has anyone been able to get the zenyee software fully working in the latest sense 2.5

I just switched over the sense 2.5, I did it to get the better imo people, and calendar tabs, and it finally had landscape support. Unfortunately I didn't realize the messaging tab was so slow when you have a large number of txt messages. I tried zenyee's app which sort of works, I have messaging available through the mail link, but the notification bar jumps to the sense messaging, which lags, and doesn't always show the most current message.
I also can't seem to get the favpeople back up to work either, it won't back up the right number of favorites and seems to fail at restoring them at all. Anyone get these tweaks working or found another work around for them?
anyone got any ideas how to start fixing this?
i use deepshining v8 and i got this to work, but one issue i have now is that my receiving texts are an hour slow
anyone help??
i got it working
to get mms and sms working all i did was install the zenyee diasble htc messaging cab and the dega sense 2.1 messaging...
there is a cab that has both of these together...then i used the mms fix for 2.1 and everything is working properly and fast.
hope this works for you
sms and mms both work, the problem is what is handling them. and for the most part wm client is handling them except in terms of the htc notification bar which sends it over to the htc messaging client. which while a little less laggy with the other patch you mentioned seems to put the time stamp over the bottom half of the message making it illegible.
i've been having problems with my received texts are an hour slow and the notifications no longer show up it just vibrates. the mms also does not work for me
i use the wm messaging client and i dont get the timestamps that you all are taking about. i took out the messaging tab and made the left softkey messaging which opens the wm client directly.
Using Rhodium_AF any ROM version is working flawless with zenyee.

HELP! - MMS on ATT

Through a series of weird events I have ended up with a gsm unlocked imagio and no VZW service any longer. No sweat I still have an auxilary line with att. I have gone through all the data settings. Destroyed the connection guardian and unblocked the server edit for arcsoft. Everything works great. Data, SMS, Sending MMS. The only issue I am running into is recieving MMS. I get the messages most of the time but they all say "Message not found". No picture, no text other than the error. MMS settings in arcsoft have been checked over and over. All the searching on the web has yielded no results. Any pro willing to help with the settings/registry tweaks required to get this up and running?
I am having this same problem I have tried about everything I could think of to get it working.
x3 on this issue. Regular text message I get no problem but MMS with pic or anything else I get "Message not Found" I can send without any issues
MMS on ATT
Same here. Very frustrating.
I am right here with you guys...same issue and all the same registry file changes made. But still yeilding the same results "Message Not Found". The one conclusion that I can assertain is that it is not opening up into the message program. The file data recieves on mine it is almost like it cant find the appropriate program to open or the file extension when recieved on the phone and points to a Verizon Specific app???
Ok since posting my last message on not being able to receive pics via mms, I have done some work on the phone and ROM-Graded to the Sense Rom and everything seems to be working fine with pic message retrieval using HTC messaging...If I go back to the Arcsoft threaded messaging mode it will not still retrieve the pics even after the ROM-Grade. So a work around if your up for it updating the ROM has helped and it also got rid of ALL the Verizon bloatware and crap too...Bonus! I have been running this way for several weeks now and it seems to really be the solution.

[Q] SMS recieved days afer sending

My wife and I have both having this problem with our HD2. I searched both the US and EU forums for a solution, maybe I searched the wrong terms. I posted in the Energy thread as well as I am running an Energy ROM. No solution yet. Posting here for better visibility.
With my phone only certain contacts take days to get messages. Some contacts get them right away as they should. My wife's phone takes days for any and all SMS to reach any and all contacts. Needless to say I need to fix this ASAP.
I am running the 9/4 Energy GTX and my wife is one the 8/28 Energy GTX, both 23xxx. I have the NRGZ28 HTC messaging cab installed via XDA_UC on both phones.
UPDATE:
So I was trying a few things I had found with my phone to get things working again. My wife finally brings me her phone and I send my phone a test message from her phone. I get it immediately then immediately get messages on her phone from several people saying that they just received all the messages she had tried to send them for the last couple days. One person said they just received over 15 messages at one time. Her phone seems to be working fine now as far as we can tell. She is still not getting my text messages. I also noticed that If I select a contact and try to view the conversation in that manner there are no messages.
Go to the messages tab, then click on all messages, then click touch menu then settings then options, then scroll down till you see delivery change that to immediate. That should fix your problem

I will try that on my wife's phone when I get home. I do think I am just going to re-flash her phone just in case. I am somewhat confident that it was an issue with installing HTC messaging onto the Energy ROM. Uninstalling it via application management (I did this on my phone) completely hoses messaging in general.
I have flashed my phone to Energy's September 8th GTX ROM (no HTC messaging?) and did not install the HTC messaging cab. All seems well now. The thing I did not like about the messaging client that Energy uses (Standared WM? messaging) is the stupid comic bubble display for messages. I found where to turn that off though so I don't feel the need to have HTC messaging installed/enabled.

Threaded SMS + Swype + Over 200 Total Messages = WTF

1) Why is there a relationship between number stored text messages and delay time between when phone first lights up until I am unable to unlock the phone and read my message? It seems sometimes when I have even 200+ messages stored, my phone will light up indicating a text is being received, but will "freeze" until it has (what seems to be) re-loaded every text stored. Only then, allowing me to access my new text message. So fukcing frustrating...it has to be Sense related.
- No, turning off Sense does not fix the problem either. I'm stock ROM (2nd to latest ROM upgraded)
2) Why does Swype, in threaded mode, insist on having every message load prior to being able to use it? Again, if a contact has 200+ messages in their thread, the phone is useless until all messages have loaded...
I enjoy using the threaded view, because I'm often referring back to previous text messages in my conversations. I can avert the Swype loading by using traditional mode. As of right now, it's either Swype + traditional or no Swype + threaded. I shouldn't feel I should have to choose, am I right?
I realize I can just delete my messages every 200+ that occur, but I reach that in a couple of days. Deleting takes too long too and going through SMS Backup is a too much of a pain if it's not for 1000+ texts.
I know this is cache/memory related. I wish there was a way to transfer the texts from phone storage to SD storage. I'm running a Class 6 too, so I don't think I can attribute slow processing speeds to the card either.
Thanks in advance. I realize this is MOST likely a repeated question. But I feel I haven't been able to arrive to a just answer from searching.
yep, its an ooold problem with no specific fix other than don't save more than 100 or so txts.
tried the latest rom?
I find that using a custom ROM has pretty much fixed the problem of HTC messageing freezing like that for me. I constantly have 1000+ texts in 3-4 threads, and have minimal wait times for messageing to open and let me reply.
Try using the latest TMO USA stock ROM. This ROM seems to have completely eliminated any problems with the HTC messaging app.
I have twitter send tweets from certain users as txt messages to my phone. The thread for twitter has reached over 1000 messages on a couple of occasions with this new ROM without causing significant lag like the previous stock ROM used to
swype is crap I notice that was the problem why my sms app would slow app...I use the regular keyboard and I have over 300 messages with one contact and its still not slowing up, and on top of that I notice I type faster with the regular keyboard....first time I used the keyboard since i got the phone back in june
I recommend a rom without HTC messaging. HTC messaging is still slow wether its stock rom or custom. Why they decided to uber up WinMo SMS I will never know.

iPhone MMS not appearing on Messages but they show fine on Google Hangouts... WTH?!?

This one has me scratching my head looking for answers. I noticed this problem a while ago where my friends MMS sent from iPhones were not appearing on my Messages, I have the option for "fetch MMS automatically" and all I get is the little cloud but its blank, it only shows the time it was received, I've also tried disabling the fetch MMS automatically and even when downloading them it shows me the blank cloud. The doozy comes when I tried using Hangouts just to see what it was and to my surprise I could see all my SMS and MMS conversations from my contacts and all the pictures from the iPhone contacts were shown via Hangouts but they do not show on the stock Messages app.
Things I've tried:
1) Googling for answers only resulted in fanboyism comments and speculations that led to more fanboyism.
2) At first I tried contacting my carrier and they made me reset the APN settings to default, which I did and it was after that that I realized that it was only the iPhone MMS messages that weren't being received.
3) Tried disabling the Hangouts services via the Apps option on the settings menu. Restarted phone and still wouldn't work.
4) Been restarting my phone with each setting I change to see if it helps but no.
5) Been bugging my friends to send me MMS from their iPhones and one did get through but nothing more after that.
6) Made sure their iPhones had the setting of "Send MMS when iChat isn't available" enabled.
7) Made sure my old iPhone account was signed out of my old iPhone 4 so I wasn't receiving anymore iMessages.
I'm speculating that I either need to call my carrier again which is Claro PR and explain the situation to see if it helps, or maybe go to a store. Also, I've been thinking about Rooting my phone so I can uninstall some of the bloat, which included Hangouts but don't want to go down that path yet and I don't know if it would really help anything since I already tried disabling the service via the Apps options.
Please help me figure this out, I love this phone but this thing is bugging the hell out of me.
I have had problems with mms on hangouts and the stock app on Sprint doesn't support group mms. I have been using Go sms pro and everything works fine, including iPhone mms messages.
Hope that helps.

Hmm... interesting a replacement messaging app, I would definitely keep this in mind so thanks a lot for the suggestion. I rather use the stock apps while I'm getting used to the phone since this is my first Android device but will definitely use this if resetting to factory defaults doesn't help my problem.
*Edit*
Any other suggestions for my problem are welcomed.
LG didn't enable MMS group messaging on stock messages. My HTC One and S4 had the option in settings to enable it...LG left it out. If you haven't heard, TEXTRA is one of the best, fastest, light weight messaging apps that can handle iPhone group messages without the bloat on go sms and handcent. Look it up on the playstore...ratings are great and all my Android friends use it now. I've yet ran into any issues with group texting.

Hi and thanks for the reply, I've looked up Textra and seems like a nice alternative and has a very clean interface, I'm currently using Hangouts from Google without a problem but would have preferred the stock message app. It's weird because I went to my carrier and they did some test and everything was fine, turns out its only MMS sent from iPhones that won't show through the Message app from G2. Maybe I should try emailing them to see if I can get some answers?
Yea only the Verizon variant supports group messages. I posted a thread about this in the Themes and Apps forum. Could be the cause.
All my friends group text me all the time and send MMS using the Verizon version Messaging app and hangouts. The stock messaging app world best though.
