A question...
what i've to do to install gb (WB expecificly), but erasing everything in the sd, i mean i just want to have the folders and files from this rom only.
does Xrecovery delete everything and keep the essential or i've to delete something else ?
thanks
ps: sorry for my english...
you don't want to delete everything on the sdcard, you may want to delete the android folder, data folder and lost.dir folder though to eliminate chances of problems with some apps.

Yes you should save all the folders and files from your sd card before you format. No if you forget to save them then the phone will not recreate them, they are gone.
Thanks so much I just wanted to make sure. When i reformated my Android phones sd/cards it would rebuild the folders it needed. thanks again and sorry for posting in the roms section.
hey all XDA's,
I'm on MDJs C7 Gingerbread, using A2SD+ set up correctly (ext4).
now my question. normally, e.g a Desire HD right off the store comes with a all the way clean SD card, and its android just uses it for DCIM folder (or any camera folder) and music of course.
on my sd card are some folders that are hidden for android (.XYfolder) and also some folders for several apps that are normal avaiable (not hidden).
as i'm using A2SD+ i'd like to have a completly clear SD card under windows, so i want all the files mentioned above move to sd-ext.
why are some folders still there? is it because some apps are "move to SD" via android OS? can i uninstall them, then reinstall and they'd be in sd-ext? or anything i can do to swtich them to the sd-ext
btw. my sd-ext got enough free space and i'm willingly to extends the space also if nessecary.
thanks in advance
sincerly dtwizzy
nobody disturbed by that folders? i want a clean windows partition
Flashed MikG last night from a stock EVO. All went well. Used Titanium to restore some of my programs but others that were on the SD card I don't want any longer and I'm sure there's data on that SD card that is now not used and just taking up space. My question: Is there a way to safely clean unwanted stuff off an SDcard?
Maybe a better option would be to install a new, blank SDcard, let the ROM configure it and then use Titanium backup to reinstall only the programs that I want?
go to the folder named titanium and erase the files for the apps you dont want anymore, also look on the root of the sd card for folders created by this apps, they are usually named like the apps

So unlike an OS you can just delete the apps folder on the SDcard?
I just got a new SDCard. If I installed that blank card I take it the ROM would configure it ok or do I need to copy anything over from the old SDcard first? I'd like to start off with a clean SDcard and then reinstall my apps.
i do it all the time never had any problems, just make sure you don't do that to any off the sprint bloat folders, you leave those alone and sprint apps you just freeze not uninstall you never know when you might need them, plus if you freeze them and your phone starts acting weird you can always defrost them, but if you uninstall them and it acts up you got trouble.
I have a big question about clearing out my SD with unused application. Here is the scenario. I switch ROM from Floyo.025 to Froyobread 0.12. After flashing and wiping all data, i noticed that the apps i used before in my Froyo is still in my SD card. My questions are, how can i removed all those files from my SDcard? Should i reformat the SD Card or should i have to re install all that apps from my Floyo to make it work in Froyobread? If i reinstall apps and put it in my SD will it just overwrite the previous data or will it add a new folder again? I really dont know what to do to free space on my SD. I used Titanium backup to restore the apps but it just causes instability in my new Froyobread. I also try to backup the Floyo with xrecovery before i switched to FloyoBread but its not the same when i tried to Restore it, some apps are not functioning anymore. I want to delete all the unused apps and its data in my SD and start a new clean installation again.
A lil help guys. Thanks much. xoxo
last time i flashed a new rom i had the same issue but i just formatted the sd (i did it like in an automated way didnt think any other option as i thought its normal)
anyway the point is that i didnt encounter any problem after this
Hmm i was also thinking that, but i was so uneasy since there is some files i would like to be left in my sd like my openvpn settings, frameworks that should remains in SD root, my media's such as mp3's and images. Transfering it all over again is not a good idea to me since they are big files. I just wanted to removed those application that was installed in my last ROM or maybe if confirmed that if i reinstalled them they will just overwrite my previous datas of that specific apps in my SD.
Hi, recently I try to change my Recovery and for some strange reason I lost "aparently" all my sdcard content because I can't mount from recovery and either from the phone using AndroZip, my question is: if I format the sdcard and lost .android_secure directory I'm able to access my phone without problems?
Cheers and thx in advance
yes you are fine. The .android_secure folder has to do with paid applications and it will be regenerated automatically.
If you move apps to sd, they go in there. You should move any apps that are on sd to internal memory before you delete it
I felt like I needed a signature.... here it is
