Right now I have an otterbox on my hd2. I like the saftey but hate the bulkyness. I also hate the plastic over the screen. Suggestions. Should I keep the otterbox because it's free and best protection or try something else?

how is it free ?
The original HTC rubber case that came with the HD2 is the best in my opinion. It has gone through so much and still looks great and protects my phone.
i honestly stopped using cases for a long time. they simply ruin the looks of the phone. i usually use a holster to carry it around. but when i am holding i am doing my best to keep it from falling.
Otter Box All the way dude ! I wouldn't have a phone like this without one!
These pouches are fu**ing beautiful!
If you like them, then please give me a 'thanks'

Really high quality cases there, good find!
Otterbox FTW

I've got one of these on the way. Made by HTC, real leather and adequate protection. As someone else said, if you're careful with the phone when it's out of the case and otterbox is not a necessity.
I also have a Zagg full-body kit on my phone. Doesn't protect it from drops but you won't be scratching the phone with it on there.

Yes. Coolest case i have ever owned. Makes the phone feel like a tank in your hand.
The only thing I don't like as much is the soft rubber, it collects alot of dirt. At least for me. Other then that I love it.
pics....review
just keep an eye out for the bottom rubber part. I've had mine for less than two months and it got really flimsy and it tore :/

I'm having this same problem right now - what I find is that after you put it back in to the plastic case, push it down a tad and it seems to un flimsy it for it a bit. I can tell it won't last though.
I wish there was a way to shrink the rubber piece so it fit like it did at first, that being said I'd buy it again if it breaks, it's the best evo case I've used.
Love my case. Had it a little over a month and the bottom rubber flap isn't flimsy on mine

I bought mine on eBay at 19 bucks. I was afraid it was going to be bulky but to my surprise it is not.

Yeah, I've had my otterbox commuter case for about a week now. It's definitely the best case out there. It really makes the power and volume buttons more accessible. Anybody on the fence about this case, just get it - you won't be disappointed.

I'll have to agree with everyone, this case makes the phone feel very secure and protected. Yet it still slips right into my pants pockets. Now when ever I hold my wife's or anyone else's EVO it just feels so fragile, and i'm scared to drop it for fear of breaking it.
So I have to say this is the best case I ever had for any of my phones...
I liked my OtterBox Commuter case for my Evo so much I bought one for the Hero I gave to my girlfriend. She loves hers as well. The only problem is that she tried to put the screen protector on by herself and it was, well to be quite honest, a f***ing disaster.
Dont buy this sh*t,
The case broke my power button.
Stupid of me to think this was a good case.
All these reviews talking about how awesome the case is and then this. Seriously, how did it break your power button? The silicon case is the only thing that touches the power button. The hard plastic shell doesn't come anywhere near it. Did you drop your phone? Why was it stupid of you to think this would be a good case when it's one of the highest rated cases out there? I'm thinking your situation was a fluke, dude.
I have had the case for about two months with my phone and the only issue I have with it is the rubber piece that sticks out of the bottom like everyone else. I am curious as to how you think the case broke your power button as well?
I have heard that some people have been having issues with their power buttons in general but not because of the case.
So ya I just got my Commuter case the other day and could not be more pleased with it. Hands down one of, if not the best designed and well thought out cases on the market.
Like a lot of people I though a case like this would add extra bulk to our bulky friend. But I got to tell you, this case just fills RIGHT. I don't see myself removing this case any time soon.
What I mean by that is, I had a case for work( that HTC rubber one from Sprint) and a case for when I wasn't working(some 10$ thin plastic case from a mall cart).
This case is the best of both of them. It combines the protection of the HTC case with out the extra bulk and slickness of the thin plastic case from the mall.
Best money I've spent in a long time. Well worth paying even full price for it.
The bottom rubber flap sucks, its flimsy and it won't stay ! I think it's just a bad design... should have made it stick just the the flap they put over the headphones plug in.
Other than that, great case...

This is a video I made after I got my new case today.
So far I love it.
Doesn't the phone feel awfully bulky now? That looks like a lot of added bulk...
what is your job? phone breaking?
i might feel safe hitting that with a hammer.
too much bulk for me. i go naked.
It does add some bulk but it is not as heavy as you think.
Yes, I actually have a job where I have to work for a living. I am an Industrial Mechanic. I fix machines.
so I do like a little added protection. Also my wife dropped hers getting out of the car on day 1 and cracked the screen. Cost me $100 out the gate.
the holster can you swivel the thing on your belt ? or is it locked in place ?
Yes it does swivel

*Otterbox Commuter or Defender *
I have two great case mate cases (barely there and tough case) for sale - see post in accessories thread...

otterbox ftw
huh. I wonder how that came up.
It was definitely supposed to say Otterbox Commuter or Defender series.
don't have a case. Got a full body protection skin from ZAGG. 2 years, 4 months and it is just beginning to peel off. Meanwhile it has protected my screen from nasties, and also protected the rest of the body. It also means that the HD2 remains slim as per the original design.
If I was you I would try to contact them with pics to get a new one because if I remember correctly its guaranteed for the life of the phone.
I use clear-coat screen protector under my gel case and think it gives great protection. I wouldn't use anything else.

I would go with Leather Case because it worked best for me.
I like the leather case too, it is more elegant, but it has a problem, it is not so rapid to open and it usually needs 2 hands.
I'm looking to get an N4 in the next few weeks and after having smashing the screen on my Desire I want to get a case or bumper for the N4. I probably prefer a bumper as it allows you to see a lot more of the phone but what have people's experiences been with dropping the phone with a bumper on?
Cheers

if the bumper is thick a bit in the front and makes a bit of space between the screen and the bumper like some thick silicon bumpers then it will protect the screen better if you drop the phone and the bumper protects very well the back of your device and is much more suitable for daily usage, though if you drop a lot your phone or put it anywhere I prefer so much a case, though as the n4's back is less resistant than its screen, a bumper should do the job for you if you need something stylish and better and easier for use
Depends on what you do with your phone. If you like your phone naked, the bumper is amazing, it gives the n4 a sick chrome border (plastic though) but it doesn't cover the front and back from scratches, although you can probably find a screen/back protector for cheap.
If you are scared of dropping it or scratching it, get a silicone or tpu case. They'll at least guarantee some kind of shock resistance and protect your phone a bit better.
In the end, it's all your preference, see if you can go to a store and try on the cases first!
Hope this helps.

Cheers for the response guys, think I'll go with a bumper as I like the device naked, obviously it doesn't provide as much protection but I think it should be pretty good for being dropped occasionally. I just wanna be able to see the whole device

Being that the phone is made out of aluminum you would think it won't break as easy as any plastic phone.
I'm considering going without a case due the fact that a case just takes away all the beauty of the phone.
Anybody else doing the same?

I did that with my old iphone 5. Terrible mistake. Tiny scratches on the side of the phone. Plus if you drop it it will make a nice ugly scuff.
But if your careful, go ahead, go naked.
But if I were you, i would get a poetic atmosphere case, looks really nice.
Too much risk for a beautiful phone.

I'm going caseless.
I don't use cases. Never did and probably never will.
What's the point in having a beautiful phone if its always covered up?
I always go naked.
"Too much to risk for a beautiful phone" is the opposite of how I see things. To me it's too beautiful to put a cover on.

A lot of people buy phones then resell them to get the next big thing. You drop the phone, the resale value plummets.
You don't have to get a dam otter box and cover it up. Just a clear case would do, or any of those skin protectors.
But hey, if your super duper careful go case less. Just trying to save people from the drop of doom.
But nvm, I had to reread the op, you already made up your mind going case less. GL

No case. Just going go put a screen protector in the front for scratches and use a leather pouch

Going caselsss is risky, especially with camera lens cover. Got minor scratches already in lens cover.
Didn't get accessories in my place still. Otherwise, would have put a case already.

Could care less about resale value, I bought it to use it and enjoy it, and in the case of the One (and One X), how they felt in my hand and how they looked had more to do with my decision to buy them as the hardware specs.
I've got a drawer full of old phones, I don't resell anything, though I might give one away or loan one out.
I drop it and break it, oh well, I'll get another one. I put a blemish on it, oh well, I live with it.
Scratches on the camera lens are no big deal either, it's a cell phone camera, it looks like crap to varying degrees even when it's un-scratched.

i take pride on taking care of my phones and keeping them always clean, i went nude to work today, and after a long shift at work, i come back home and i have one tiny scratch on the back of my phone, its very tiny not noticeable, but its still very stressful, will buy a case tomorrow asap!
My One X is in pretty good shape, no protection. I have a scratch on the glass that was clearly from a diamond ring. Other than that there is miniscule damage in one place on the metal strip around the screen.
The SIM tray looks atrocious, but protection wouldn't help with that since I use it; it appears to be made of some kind of soft cheese. A new one is less than a fiver.

Best case to use with these pretty phones is a pouch. That way u slide it in the pouch when in your pocket and not using it , and you take the phone out of the pouch so you and everyone around you admire it when use want use. :screwy:

lol!
Personally I always go bare. The One is so beautiful as well that I think a case is a double-crime.
I usually 'dedicate' a pocket to my phone and keep everything else (car keys, change etc) in others.

what's that Ghost Armor? I do not really get how this works. Is this some kind of chemical which you put on the phone and after it drys it gets "hard"?
