[Q] 2 questions for R800x - Xperia Play General

well, I just found a good deal at Verizon store, so I'm thinking to get one.
anyway, I haven't see the Verizon Xperia Play can use on Sprint (yet) ?
and the SIM card slot in R800x, is this phone a world phone?
thanks

oh, some might interesting in about the deal.
the phone without contract is about $600 or something like that.
but Verizon offers a tricky discount, sign up their month to month $30 mobile broadband service, then the phone drop to less than $300.
and after a month, the service can cut off, I might gonna keep it, because I can use VoIP(Google voice or whatever) app via their 3G, and for my regular phone, I'm gonna get one of mine "one charge lasts 3 days" phone out.
maybe not cheap enough, but I think its alright

lolwut???
Nothing in your post makes sense to me..
Retail price of the device from a Verizon wireless store is $449.99
2 year contract price is $99.99 online and $149.99 in a store with a $50 mail in rebate.
As soon as we (Verizon Wireless Sales Representatives) scan a smart phone into the system the minimum $30 data plan automatically gets added onto the account and part of the contract is when you have a smart phone on the account you have to pay the minimum of the $30 a month for the 2GB of data. You do not have the option to keep the phone on the account without being charged that data.
As for the other option for it being put on Sprint. Last I knew Verizon and Sprint like to keep tabs of every ESN/MEID that they have on file since it is the phone that is being activated and not a simcard. So as for it being activated onto sprint you would have to re flash the phone with a working Sprint ROM but if you want to do this the phone has to be rooted which is not available yet for the R800x and the phone has th have a cooked ROM with the Sprint activation permissions installed into it.
So lets say for instance you go into the store, you sign up for the 2 year contract, thats $150 that you had to put out. Then along with that you get an activation fee and a first months bill, activation fee is $35, Minimum your bill could be with 450 minutes, unl text and 2gb data is $90 before tax,
So far you are at $150 + $90 + $35 = $275
ETF for cancelling a contract with a smart phone is $350.
$275 + $350 = $625.00 not including taxes
So... to do your plan you can either spend $600+ to do it your round about way or just $450 from VZW themselves.
Answer any questions?

WIng for sale!!!

hey guys. i have been the proud papa of a tmobile wing for the last month. i haven't been a member here for very long, but you guys are awesome. unfortunetly i have to give up my Wing as i got notified yesterday that i will be going overseas shortly. rather than wait to the last minute i figuered someone might be able to love my wing as much as i do while it is still fairly new. it really is in MINT condition. i clean it everyday, its always in its holster, never dropped it, or dinged it, or anything. It pretty much is new. It would probably help to let you guys know I am military. So I will be gone for a little over a year and then be coming back. I didn’t want my phone sitting there while I was gone. I hope someone can help me find a home for my Wing. Im letting it go for 300-250 or OBO. i paid about 350 a month ago. thanks
hey you got ripped off then if you paid 350 for it a month ago , i got my wing two months ago and gave dem this promotion code " windows mobile" and got my wing for 80 bucks and a free blue tooth.
Call T-Mobile Business Direct at 866-464-8662. Push 3.
Give them the promotion code "Windows Mobile" (yes that is the promotion code).
Say no to text plans, internet plans, phone insurance and accessories.
Phone is $99.99 with $50 rebate = $49.99.
Free Shipping, Activation fees waived, 1 year contract
what if i wanted to get 2 or 3 of the wings onto a family plan could i still get it for $50 and get unlimited family text for $20 dollars a month and have no activation fee? because on letstalk.com i can get all of that except the activation fee
I smeel a very common scam
even though the phone cost supposedly $50 you are still paying tmobile around $1000 after a year (assuming you have to get a data plan with the phone)
t-mobile is eating the cost of the hardware because you are paying for it by signing the one year contract. it doesn:t mean that the wing itself is worth $50.
doesnt sound like a scam to me at all, if you look in classified ads they go for 2-300 easy...
Just sim unlock it thru tmobile and take it with you.

Not really "$1000 after a year"; I got mine last Oct as the 3rd line to my family plan, and I paid $49 AR for the phone and $10/mon for the add'l line. So after year it's ~$200 for everything combined.

No Loopsholes for Purchasing

I just switched to EM+ Family plan and recently came off of EM. I still have until September for my contract that I extended when I got the G1 back in Thanksgiving of 08.
I figured that I'd go to EM+ and use the "Subsidizing" ability to cover the $530 cost. This will not work for the unseen future due to some "duh" moments.
EM+ works this way: If T-Mobile is selling the phone on their site, you can use EM+ to purchase it and subsidize it over a maximum of 20 months. They charge you separate from your bill, and you can choose how much to pay additional each month for the phone. (Not sure if there is a minimum payment per month. I'm guessing you have to at LEAST pay 1/20th of the phone's cost).
This won't work with the N1 because Google has exclusive selling rights for the phone.
So, like a moron, I finally came to the conclusion that there are only two ways to buy the phone, and they are the ways Google has already plain-as-day outlined.
Until there is a new game in town and Google relinquishes their exclusivity and T-Mobile picks up the Nexus One of their own accord, my only option is to buy the phone outright because the EM+ plan is not compatible with the purchasing options on the Nexus One. This is because the nature of EM+ does not make the "extension" option a viable choice due to the non-contractual nature of EM+.
It is also the highest plan possible, and - aside from the $35 fee - possibly the best plan T-Mobile offers because it's packages are cheaper than EM. However, once on it, there is no backing out.
Start saving those pennies, XDA family.
wait so does that mean that i cant buy the n1 unlocked & unsub through google, then go to tmobile and get a EM+ plan?
All we can do is either pay the $530, or $180 if your line is eligible for an upgrade (contract or upgrading to EM in the first place).
TMo always lets you upgrade to EM+ if your line isn't on it, but the $35 upgrade fee applies, and you are still obligated to the contract time you signed up for before switching to EM+. IE, I still have till the end of September for the extension I signed up for at the End of November 2008 when I got my G1, even though my account will switch to EM+ on the 8th of January.
Of course, we could always do the $180 and pay the $350 cancellation fee, but that costs a total of $530 -_-

You can do that. He's talking about upgrading and getting the 180 price instead of the full 530 price.
I have tried to talk Tmobile in waiving the ETF on one of my lines if I buy the N1 and add an aditional line but they won't do that either. Its either 530 or nothing for me. (don't want to pay 110+ dollars a month for two lines)

I saved my upgrade for this but their plan totally sucks for the Nexus one.
500 minutes???!!!! for 79$ [email protected]#%@%
I just bought it unlocked im going to just put my sim in it.
Lol, good job. I am in agreement with that.
This stuff is to fin complicated, they should have thought this out more. All this what works what doesnt stuff you know.
I bought my Nexus One for $530 then just went over to T-mobile and changed my G1 plan to an Even More Plus 1000 minute unlimited text/web $69.99 a month. Unlocked phone and no contract, can't beat that. I think they charged me $35 to change plans but I still think that is great deal. Oh, and all the T-mobile employees in the store were going nuts loving my phone since they had never seen it before.

Got a great deal on my Vibrant!

Hi guys, this will be my first android phone and I am EXCITED. I'm coming from.....a sidekick LX.....haha sooo much needed upgrade.
At first, I called T-mobile and after much convincing they gave me the phone for $150, waived the $18 phone activation, and bumped my internet from $30 a month to only $20......GREAT! right?....but...
..then, my dad, who's the best person I know in getting deals and stuff, told me to call them and tell them I wanted to cancel my order because I could get an iphone 3GS for only $100 and could easily switch. So we did that, and guess what? They actually gave us an extra $100 mail-in rebate!!!
sooo my Samsung Vibrant cost after everything is settled.....$50

Yeah they do give great deals if you haven't upgraded in a while. Unfortunately, people like me abuse it and they give me good deals, but not killer ones like this.
I got my 8900 for 60 bucks, when it was 200 also. And they gave me a free Razr2 and such.
yeah i'm pretty excited, do you still have that BB or did you "abuse" the system again and get a vibrant haha
How the hell did you get $20 internet?
I have T-Mobile for 8 years and had my grandfathered Blackberry $20 data plan for 2 years until I switched to Vibrant and they told me they will need to bump my data plan to $25 Android plan. I am 18 months into the contract with 2 extra family lines on the plan (24 and 20 months into the contract).

I have $20 internet on two lines on my family plan, plus $15 unlimited texting for both lines, and I get a 15% corporate discount from my university.
You gotta say cancel as son as the automated service asks what you want. Them tell the rep you have been with them for awhile but feel like you're paying too much. They should offer to drop the bill a little.

I'll give your thing a try, also is that discount for being a student or working for the university?
Guys, there are A LOT of companies that get discounts, they just don't tell you. I used to work for Best Buy and just for that you get a discount, if you are a student, you get a discount, etc... also, he has $20 internet PLUS $15 for text, that's 35... I pay $25 for internet plus $10 unlimited text for all the lines in the family plan, so its also $35
yeah except my college recently got rid of college email accounts. And you cant have student/company discounts on flexpay and i haven't met the 6month good payment history (i have 8 months good payment history) to switch to regular payment but still apparently don't qualify for regualr payment. F**K flexpay!
Very good deal.
I got a decent deal too.
On my existing line 1 with 13 months since my last upgrade, they agreed to give me the $199 upgrade price since I ported over my girlfriend's AT&T number as a new line 2. I got a 2nd Vibrant for that line at $199. They also agreed to give line 2 the unlimited data plan for $25/mo to match my line 1, since I have the grandfathered G1 data plan with 400 text messages. I also have unlimited loyalty minutes for $90 for both lines.
So... $45 each line for unlimited voice, $25 each line for unlimited data, $199 per phone. That's a non-subsidy phone plan price with a subsidized phone price.
Been with T-Mo about 7 years.
I actually got a similar deal on mine as well.
My contract ended back in December but I'd been using an iPhone for a little longer than that. I wanted to upgrade but T-Mobile didn't have much that could compare to be worth extended my contract. After reading around about the Vibrant and the deals people were getting with them I decided to give them a call. I was connected to what I believe is their retentions department and told the rep that I was thinking about switching carriers to AT&T for the new iPhone. She immediately said that she would like me to keep my line with them and wanted to offer me a deal on the Vibrant.
She offered the Vibrant for basically $49.99 after it was said and done. My account was given a $100 credit and then the phone billed for $149.99. Waiving the upgrade fee and shipping charges also seemed to be standard practice. When I asked if that meant I had to use the $30 data plan she said she could discount the plan to $24.99 before I could say anything else. I gladly accepted.
My household has been with T-Mobile for near a decade now, although I'm usually the only one that upgrades out of our four lines. We have the same grandfathered plan from when we opened our account as well. I chalked the great deal up to being long-time customers with them.
I ordered the Vibrant thru T-Mobile.com almost 3 weeks ago. The order got messed up...BAD. They debited our account twice for $1200 ($600 x 2). After waiting for a week with no sign of the phone, the order status stuck on Pending, and no refund, I got fed up and contacted corporate. The girl who I am still working with has been very apologetic with trying to get the issue resolved. On Thursday of last week T-Mobile debited our account yet AGAIN for another $600. I called her immediately and told her what had happened. I could tell she was very frustrated because all of this is out of T-Mobiles control. From what I found out it's actually a 3rd party company that handles all of the telesales and online orders. She called me back a few hours later and explained all of that to me.
During all of this the order status was still "pending." Well what do you know, the phone showed up in the mail later that day. I called her again to tell her and after she put me on hold for a few minutes she came back and told me we could keep the phone for free because of all the troubles. We've received $1200 back over the past couple of days but there is still $600 that is in a hold state on our debit card. Hopefully it will post back soon. It's been pretty crappy not having $1800 for the few weeks. But we got a free phone and a free month of service out of this whole ordeal so I guess it was worth it.

get mytouch 4g with contract or buy it straightup?

i currently got an upgrade on my line for the mytouch 4g. i don't know if i should return it and buy the phone instead. being stuck two years with the data plans kinda scares me. i was on even more plus before when i had my nexus one and it felt better to know i can cancel my data plan whenever.
one of the reason i signed a contract was because i'm in a family plan with my parents. since they've already signed a two years contract, i have to wait for another two years before i can be on my own.
so i'm thinking, which one is better for me? even tho i wasn't on a contract before, i still have to wait two years for my parents contract to expired. so it basically the same thing without the data plan add on. (except they added another 5 to my account now. the data plan was only 25 dollars before. now it's 30.)
should i return the phone and just buy it outright? but i don't think tmobile sells insurance if you just buy the phone tho. it kinda risky knowing that it could break down any second.
thanks in advance.

Tmo does offer insurance. As for your plan, you could try calling and talking with customer retention and tell them you are ONLY thinking of returning it. They might offer you a deal where you return it and get one from them directly (got mine for $99, and the plan for $20).
If you got that deal and canceled down the road , you would still be better off than simply buying the phone full price now ($99 plus cancellation charge is less).
Good luck
thanks! i've just called them and the lady there was willing to put my data plan back down to 25 dollars and offered one month free of data. she seem nice and helpful, so i don't want to give her a hard time and push more.
I bought mine off contract. They give you 20 months to pay @ 0% interest.
So, if you pay the $199 + tax on the full price that is approx. $250...
I paid $450 + tax ... approx. $500
The subsidized plan that I am on would be $79/month, but I am paying only $59 with no contract... a difference of $20 a month.
My monthly phone payment is about $25/month..... buying outright is cheaper than contract pricing for the full 2 year term:
Subsidized price after 2 years = $199 price + $50 tax on full purchase price +$480 (24 x $20 more for subsidized plan) = $729 + ongoing $20 month more after 2 years that is not paying for anything... just gravy for the carrier.
Full purchase price = $450 + $50 = $500. cancel anytime. sell phone. walk away.
In addition, I also got them to give me a $90 credit on my account... basically getting the sales tax back and activation fee refunded... AND they don't start billing for the phone until 2011.
**This is of course if you stay with the same phone and plan for 2 years and you don't change your plan once your contract is up.
I bought it straight up also, no contract

sure they will, jsut say you want to buy it with a even more plus plan...they will open the plan for you...as soon as you leave the store, call tmobile and cancel the plan.... easy
I've bought both my G2 and MT4G from tmobile straight up. Both are on installment plans. Sold the G2, and now debating about the MT4G. I like the fact that we can pay ~$20 a month for the phone rather than $500 out right. The only time I feel I wished I had a plan with equipment discounts is when they do BOGO, other than that, I like the cheaper monthly rates.
I still think a good price on the phone ($99-149) and plan from retention is the best (unless you have one of those vintage $4.99 plans that some are still using on N1's).
As long as you are using the phone and plan going forward, you are ahead (assuming your data plan would be either lower than your current plan or not much more). If you want to eBay it - then you would have the cancellation charge. Combined with a good phone price, you are still ahead.
And if you were going to stay with the TMo data plan anyway - you would be way ahead.
I had even considered getting TMo to unlock the MT4G (I always do), and keeping my N1 and selling it on eBay.
With it rooted, am now probably looking at eBaying the N1 and keeping this.

[Q] even more plus from best buy???

Okay I'm confused...
I ordered a Nexus S from best buy for $199 and it just arrived today... I called tmobile to activate the phone and they said I can get setup on this Even More Plus plan which has no contract and is $20 cheaper than the regular plan... not knowing anything about this I just said sure????
So now I'm reading more about this Even More Plus stuff on T-Mobile and it says you have to buy a phone at full price to qualify for this price.... buuuuut I paid bestbuy $199 for the phone.... how/why/huuuuuuh?????
So... I verified on my tmobile account that it is infact setup as the Even More Plus for $59.99/month... and also verified bestbuy billed me $199 for the phone...
what am I missing?
It does say that you might get an ETF added onto your account if you started a new 2-year plan already -- might want to look into that.

He'll be OK. I went into a tmobile store to activate it and they switched it after the fact. Basically treated as a price plan adjustment. doesn't require a new contract.

But that's what I'm saying... they didn't start a 2-year plan on my account... and I didn't have tmobile previously (this is new service).
I've called and talked to a few people now on tmobile and they're all telling me I have no contract...
Isn't bestbuy getting ripped here? Shouldn't they have charged me $529 for the phone if I was going to get this no contract plan with tmobile?
Weird... I did the same thing, but mine auto-activated. And I was given a 2-year contract with my Nexus S. If you don't have a contract though, kudos. You saved over $300 and $20 monthly!
I would chalk it up to their mistake and your win. Congrats. I love Even more Plus

I didn't even know about it until now... I hadn't really payed too much attention to the plans, I was more so getting the phone to try it out. At this "deal" I can't really give it back though... lol
Bestbuy.com has been having problems with their mobile orders communicating with T-Mobile. It took me 2 days and hours on hold to actually get this phone ordered and the person I finally got to push the order through for me said there was a communication error going to T-Mobile... so he pushed it through "manually" and shipped me the phone... Well, when I got the phone the SIM card it came with wasn't activated so I called and they're telling me no contract.
yay?
yay!
Now just to adjust to the blueish tint on this screen and I can finally be happy...
Damn, explain how you did it. I would like to try this out!

Well T-Mobile officially sucks as far as service.
I wonder what will happen if I discontinue service with T-Mobile when I'm on a plus plan... will this come back to bite me in the butt later from best buy or do they no additional ties after selling me the phone???
Here is a catch: you still have to oblige the remainder of contract even you migrated to EM+.
For example, if you signed 2 years contract today and change to EM+ 6 months later, you still have to oblige the rest of 18 months and still subject to ETF if you have your number cutoff or ported out.
This happened on me as I was on 2 years contract after obtained TM717 with contract and migrated to EM+ 8 months later.

Ya but I didn't sign a 2 year contract then go to EM+ 6 months later... I signed up at best buy for new service then called T-Mobile and activated the phone with EM+ and they say I have no contract. As far as I can tell, I could easily just port my number and get no ETF because no contract. Unless best buy follows up with it somehow?
