1) your x10 have to be connected to the same wifi as your computer is connected (or other device)
2) open the app and check "Media server" (in order to enable the media server)
3) the computer(devic)e should discover the X10 media server but the access is denied
4) after trying to access you should get a notification on your phone with request to allow - allow it
5) you should be able to access the media server.
(i tried it with win 7 and ubuntu)

And how can I let my laptop find the x10... It is running windows 7.

I only open the "network folder" and see the x10 there. Not sure how to translate network folder the folder where you can see other computers in the network. Sorry not near a computer to make a screenshot.

The network folder directs you to windows media player, so it's faster to just open that instead. You'll find X10i on the lower left sidebar.

Can't seem to find it...

Maybe some trouble with the port??? I suggest to check your router settings and firewall...maybe. I am not experienced with DLNA/UPnP

Why would you post a question here and not the questions thread

[APP] Sending files from PC to GalaxyS via wireless internet

Hi.
I'm introducing an awsome application made by Samsung.
Its name is SnapNGo.
There are two files which are sng_setup.exe and SnapNGo.apk.
SnapNGo.apk is installed on your device and sng_setup.exe is on your PC.
In order to use them, those two machines must be online.
After installation both of them, turn on the Snap N' Go file in your PC.
And then turn on the SnapNGo application in your device as well.
You must see the camera screen.
Default setting is "from PC to Device".
If you want to pull a file out from PC, just take its photo.
Put the file icon in the middle of Camera's focusing box and press shoot button.
That's all. Your file will be located in /sdcard/SnapNGo/
Here's the attachment's link. It's 9.07MB zipped.
attachment here
A sad thing is that it doesn't work on Froyo, at least with mine.
edit : Oh my god.. there is the place where I should've written down this kind of thread.
I'm sorry, how can I move this to there?
HAHAH !!! it works
This a really nice app thanks buddy
-TB-
Is this just for camera photos or can you send any file?

from PC to your device : I think any files are available. I haven't tested all files but there were nothing I couldn't send. e.g. apk, zip, txt etc..
from I9000 to PC : there are only a few files supported. jpgs or something.
PC client crash on Windows 7 x64.
At least on mine :/

Don't suppose an x64 version was available? (I did try to find the page but couldn't)
You may want to try SwiFTP, it does ftp over wifi. It's a 1 click setup and you can then access it with any machine on the network. Super fast and easy.
many thanks for this helpfull program, which works perfictily ob the latest orange froyo 2.2.
however, there is newer addition of it, if some one can bring it to us, that would be great.

Thanks for pointing out. very nice utility. Another one is Wifi Explorer pro.
Astro file manager I can transfer any files from my pc to phone and vice versa if you connected to the network via wifi
Will stick with awesome drop, this is a bit clunky, but very clever.

[Q] I/O Tab Mounting With Mac

Hey everyone,
I love my tab from I/O but as a Mac user I am stuck with no way to connect it to my mac to put videos on or anything. Every time I attach it to my Mac (or even PC) it wants to load Kies. It doesn't give me the option to mount as disk or anything.
On my Windows 7 PC it does allow me to browse it as a folder but I don't use my PC for any video downloading or anything. Is there a solution for Mac? I tried downloading the DMG for Honeycomb tablets from Android.com but it still didn't work for the Samsung tab. Not sure what to do here.
Second thing... someone needs to break a version of the new Netflix app to work on Honeycomb. I can get the app to load as is but it won't let me play video, says that this device is not supported.
Thanks in advance for the help.

Did you try this: http://www.android.com/filetransfer/ Should work. I used it with the Xoom and it worked like a charm.
Also if you have the SDK installed you can use ddms to open a file explorer. (In the same menu where you can launch the screen capture app)

I did try that and it did not work, because I think Kies is persistent and messes with it. Any other ideas would be great.
And to be clear: neither Kies on the mac nor Windows recognizes it either -- they say it's an unsupported device.
I managed to get a movie on it for the flight home by connecting in windows (VMware), installing Kies (for the drivers) and mounting it as an external drive.

Really that would be a disaster for the 10.1v because of a lack of a SD card...... It would mean that one only can transfer files over a network.
But I assume that uninstalling Kies would solve this?
Deleted.......
Anyone else know anything that might help? I don't have Kies installed and cannot get it to work on my Mac.

I tried both the Windows and Mac versions of Kies, and ended up having some luck with XJNB. I have a post on my blog (at surfsoftconsulting.com) explaining this, have a look at the Galaxy Tab First Impressions entry. The problem seems to be that Samsung's implementation of MTP is rubbish. Worst case scenario is that the update to 3.1 will include Google's own (and hopefully less buggy) implementation. I guess a more worse case is that Samsung have donated their code to 3.1... sigh.
I should add that since doing a factory reset I've not been able to get XJNB to work with the tablet :-( so I shall probably move to using a Wifi based solution

filetransfer doesn't work - at least not for me - with the I/O Galaxy Tab 10.1 (MacBook Pro early '08, OS X 10.6.7). I've written more elsewhere on this thread, I won't repeat it here.

[SOLVED]make your iconia as a hotspot when no wifi signal around for file sharing

as title,
is there any way to do this ?
i want my iconia to become a wifi hotspot just to do file sharing via wifi to my windows .. i know its not possible to share connection as this device dont have 3g network ...
PROBLEM SOLVED
this is my way :
1. download 'power control plus' from market
2. put the widget on the homescreen or notification bar as u wish, but choose wifi tethering as one of the component
3. now u can on the portable hotspot using it.. and u can configure by touching the tethering symbol in the notification bar
4. if you want to exchange file with windows, just download 'andftp' from market, your android will be the ftp client and the device connected to the iconia hotspot will be the server (remember to the file sharing on the device)
when do you need this actually ?
1. when u want to transfer file from pc when there is no wifi around and no usb cable
2. when u want something on your friends ipad / iphone (dont know about this actually, as apple are very strict about file sharing, but sure u can use this with jailbroken devices)
3. with another device which can be an ftp server.. symbian may be ?
nb : you have to know the right address for adding in ftp client, in mac i can see that on system preferences -> sharing -> file sharing
may be someone can tell how to do this in windows 7 ?
thx...

Control mobile from Laptop

Hi all,
I wanted to remotely connect to my android device from my laptop, but unfortunately i am not able to get it working! I tried to install Droid VNC server on my mobile, but while connecting to it from laptop, it force closes!
After that i tried using Androidscreeencast http://code.google.com/p/androidscreencast/, which is a desktop app to control android device remotely, but even that shows some error while connecting
If anyone was able to connect remotely to their android device, please share it with me.

You can always try ADB Maskcontroller
there you have an option to connect your android device remotely and you can fully control your device
Or try android webkey: it allows you to control your phone with your browser!

Not sure about running the screen on the pc, but I use Pocketcloud for remote desktop. Hope this helps.
I'm not sure what you're looking for, but you could just run apps on your PC using BlueStacks.
OTOH, I have an app on my Nook Touch that can be controlled from my Kyocera Rise or my PC.

Bluestacks is not as fast as your phone.
You must be facing low performance in it...
Even if you have a gaming ATi or Nvidia card

Really the best and easiest way to do that without emulation is to get a mhl cable assuming your device supports it. Then you'll have a mirrored connection on your pc monitor or TV if you want and can use it like your phone.

As far as I've seen on SockteQ's page and product brochure, it is targeted to tablets, and not for trivial smartphones (i.e. gives a view of an Android tablet screen in the prog window). Their efforts are great, but there's no clue for the trivial handsets user.
