What if in the recovery we could make it so that it automatically partitioned, rebooted, wiped, and flashed the rom? We could include a file in the rom that the recovery could use as "instructions" anybody think this could happen in the future?
You could make one with a sh script. I never have to repartition and clicking on the 3 wipes isn't hard, then go back to flash the rom I want to flash.
in order to remove some of the unwanted bloatware in the stock rom, i deleted some of them and everything is ok till now, after i did a factory rest i realized that removed apps are still removed, dunno why?
i thought that if i did a full wipe then factory reset then i will get back the removed apps.
i installed the full wipe.zip tool, run it in recovery mode, apply factory reset, but now the device is stuck on htc logo with no OS, what is happening, did the full wipe , wipe also the OS? if so, what should i do now, did i bricked my device in anyway?
tell me plz that i have to put the rom on my sd and install it in recovery mode? assuming that i have no sd card reader on my pc, is ther any other way to copy the rom on my sd in the device?
help me plz as i have no phone right now
Give me a few seconds and ill see if i can help you. I suggest you use a world wide edition rom and flash that. You should get a full reset
i want to install this rom
1.32.405.6
http://xdafil.es/DesireHD/RUU/RUU_A....140e_26.03.02.26_M_release_155891_signed.exe
first thing, what does signed means, is it a branded rom?
can i install this rom on my device from my desktop, as it is RUU?
if i cant, then i need it in zip format to install it in recovery mode, right? can you point me to a zip link of this rom?
thank you for your help
run the rom link you have there from your desktop and it should be fine.
do you have clockwork recovery installed?
signed "technically" means that i can be installed with the protection system that HTC has in place and its fine...
It is basically official from the manufacturer as they have a special method they use to "Authenticate" that the software is from them officially
and if that dont work you go into clockwork recovery and mount sdcard in recovery go to mounts and storage > mount usb storage
now you can see sdcard to put files on
as this way you can place a PD98IMG.zip on to sdcard
and flash that zip file from bootloader
here a thread thats tells you how to make a PD98IMG.zip from the RUU file
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=841890
This is a good example of RTFM!!!
"FULL-WIPE.zip WILL FORMAT EVERYTHING!!
* BOOT
* SYSTEM
* DATA
* CACHE
* DALVIK-CACHE.
***WILL LEAVE SDCARD UNTOUCHED ***"
So basicly, nothing is wrong and your phone has no issues. You just didn't read the manual good
Download this file: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=866752
Place it on your sd-card.
Boot phone into recovery.
Flash .zip from Sd-card.
Reboot
Your phone is back to life....
@ xmoo
i already downloaded the stock rom posted earlier by you 1.32.405.6
http://xdafil.es/DesireHD/RUU/RUU_Ac...891_signed.exe wich is signed and you are pointing me to unsigned this time, can you please tell me why? and what is the difference?
now i know what full wipe do, but lets say i removed some apps from the stock rom, doing dalvik and cach wipe then factory reset will bring back the removed apps or there is no way to get them back unless a fresh reinstall of the rom?
i installed the signed rom, and while doing HBOOT said, no image or image wrong, is it fine not finding an image?
thank you all for your great helps bringing back my DHD to life
no your apps have gone
and all that unsigned zip will do is rewrite the system and data
just need to follow what xmoo saying an you be all good again
i just installed the signed rom, before i saw xmoo reply and it's working ok, still dunno what is the difference btw signed and unsigned and why xmoo suggested the unsigned.
what thing that i noticed is that i dont get back the sample photos that comes with my device before i delete them.
note:
after flashing Soff still exist
root and CWM should be reinstalled
s-off remained cause of radio s-off.
Cause of you still having access to cmw, thats why I said flash the zip unsigned. This way you don't needed to re-root etc
Also stock pics are deleted, cause they were located on your sd-card.

Hi
Yesterday I made a backup using rom manager, when I had Clockworkmod recovery flashed. I tried to flash the cm6.1 rom using this recovery, but it didn't install the rom since it didn't manage to verify the whole file. So I flashed the recovery called RA Recovery v1.7.0G and flashed the cm6.1 rom using it. It finished installing the rom successfully, but now the phone is stuch in boot loop. Turning on, off, on, off, and so on, in a repeatitive loop. So I tried to use the RA recovery to restore my system with the nandroid backup, but it couldn't. It says it doesn't find the nandroid folder on the sd card. Right. There is no nandroid folder on my sd card, maybe I deleted it when I formatted the card, but I'm not sure there was a nandroid folder. But when I made the backup, the new folder of the backup was created and I saved it on my computer. it's name is the time and date of creating.
What should I do in order to restore the stock rom?? I heared that you can't restore a rom using RA's recovery if it has been backed up using clockworkmod recovery. Is that right? Help please!!!
Sorry for my bad English!
I made the backup using rom manager. I think it made a new folder called clockworkmod, and in this folder there are 2 folders, "backup" and "download", and a file called ".settings". The backup folder has a folder with the date and time of the backup I made. It has some files in it, and a file called nandroid. May someone tell me what to do?
Wipe then flash again.
Or get clockworkmod back and restore.
Or flash a sappimg and start over
Thank you for answering.
I tried to wipe data- factory reset and wipe Dalvik-cache and wipe chache, and then flashing cm6 again, but it is not working. The device is in a boot loop again. Maybe It's because I changed the name of the rom zip file of cm6 to update.zip?
How could I get back clockworkmod? Just flash it's zip file from the RA's recovery? Isn't the "flash from sd card" option in the recovery only for roms?
How could I flash sappimg and what did you mean when you sayd "start over"?
Thank you!
You can flash the recovery via the fastboot .
Which setting did you use to flash the rom ? I think you used the wrong one . And did you check the radio and spl before ?
But how can I flash the recovery via the fastboot? Do I need a computer? What file to flash? zip or img?
Isn't it possible to flash the recovery via amon ra's recovery?
I didn't check the radio and spl. (what is it radio and what is it spl?)
Which settings are you talking about?
Thank you

Flash any rom then use rom manager to get clockworkmod back. or if you have an eng spl flash it via fastboot.
Or flash it via adb in recovery.
And by "Start over" I mean get back to stock then redo the rooting process
Hi
My device is OK now.
I found a rom which made me able to turn on the device witout boot loops, and then I used rom manager to flash clockworkmod, and I used it to restore the system from my backup. Now I have my original stock rom.
Thank you doilathe3112 and tvall for helping! May G-d bless you!
Wiped data/factory reset. I wiped system by mistake and now phone will not laod. I also wiped sdcard, getting ready to sale phone.
I am trying to get a rom back to the sd card. I have adb pushed the file to the sd card but when i go to install it, it says install aborted.
What can i do?
In recovery, use "USB mass storage" option. Then just connect the phone and copy the ROM on it. Make sure the download of the ROM finished correctly, check MD5SUM.
If you're having problems and want to go back to 'virgin' stock. Here's a link to a thread with all the PD15IMG.zip files:
All PD15IMG.zip Files for the MyTouch 4G in one place
Download the Stock 'virgin' ROM that you would like. Copy to the root of your sd-card. Boot into fastboot and flash it. Also, make sure you are on the stock Glacier radio before flashing to avoid problems.
Here's a link to the radios:
[RADIO] HTC Glacier Radios [PD15IMG.zip] (Updated: 10 Dec 2011)
As with the ROM, copy to root of sd-card, and then flash the radio in fastboot. Hope this helps!
Hi. I'm using the 18/Redmi2Prime and I was thinking of reverting back to MIUI and I'm on CM13. I'm kind of confused with all the threads here because it's been a while since I was active here in the forums. Can't I just flash the MIUI ROM over CM13 using TWRP 2.8.7 with a clean install?
I wanted a rooted lollipop miui hence I am reluctant of choosing this. And I donno which ROM to choose either. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Grab a copy of the stock recovery from here, and follow the instructions to install it onto your device. Basically, download the file, extract the .img file from it, and install the .img file using TWRP. Then boot to recovery.
Then, download a copy of the official MIUI ROM (beta, release or otherwise), from here, rename it as update.zip, copy paste it to your SD card (internal/external), and from the stock recovery, wipe all existing data (cache and user data - SD card can stay). Install the update.zip from the recovery from the options shown.
Done.
Additional notes -
1. If you are plan to go back to a custom ROM, then install a pre-lollipop based MIUI ROM, or backup your EFS, Modem, Boot partitions prior to wiping the existing recovery - this will save you a lot of trouble, and perhaps opening another thread.
2. It is preferable to download the MIUI ROM and rename it as update.zip before you restore to stock recovery, should anything go wrong down the lane. (That is, without a ROM installed, and the computer just not willing to recognize your device, you might end up in a small soup - you cannot access the files on the phone using the stock recovery easily.)
3. If anything goes wrong, check for instructions on how to install the MIUI ROM using fastboot.
Hey thanks for the quick reply. Will do the mentioned and will get back to you if need be. Thanks again!
But wait. It isn't prerooted right?
