i really need help, i flashed a android 3.1 kernel but my A500 is on 3.0.1 and now it's stuck on the acer boot splash and i can't find a 3.0.1 stock kernel anywhere, i don't even know if it's possible but i would like to get my acer back up and running without losing any of my data, Please help
i don't really understand your problem. you can solve it very easylie.
put any full stock rom 3.01 or 3.1 on your external sd, and whether install with cwm, which you must have since you flashed a kernel, using a card reader on your PC.
I'm probably going to do that but i would like to just restore without losing any of my data
Lol

Just restore your boot image from your cwm backup. You did do a full backup, right?
Sent from my A500 using Tapatalk
I had to delete my backup to make room for the kernel because I'm using my phones sd card and the backup was 1.7 GB but in CWM I backed up data only and when I get home I will flash to 3.0.1 stock and then restore data so i should get my Apps back
can anyone provide the link for a flashable 3.0.1 update if their is one?

If you are in the united states, download this one.
Then decrypt the download with this. Extract update.zip from the decrypted file and place it on the root of your micro SD and flash with cwm. After that download this, and decrypt, extract, flash. If you're not in the united states lemme know n I will try to get the right files for you

Not sure :/ once again, is there a reason you are still on 3.0? I can probably get you the us 3.1 build.
i just don't want to lose anything but im gonna flash to 3.1, but the reason why i was on 3.0.1 was because i bought it while i was on a trip out to west texas and i had nowhere to update to 3.1 so i just rooted that and put some of my apps on their from my phones Titanium backup and i was on my way back and we were going through places with 3G (rare with AT&T) so i was tethering to my A500 so i decided to try out a kernel but accidentally flashed an android 3.1 kernel and thats where it went wrong

thanks for posting this man. I had a similar situation to OP, am a long haul trucker and hadn't been able to update to 3.1 or 3.2 so I flashed one of the kernels for 3.0.1 and got stuck in "acer boot window". this saved my ass.

So I don't remember what build I originally had, didn't backup my ROM bcus im a nub, made a mistake editing a file in system/lib which caused my tablet not to boot past the android screen. Came to this forum for some help, kjy2010 came to my rescue. provided me with a full build of 4.010.40 GEN1, placed update.zip in external SD, booted into recovery mode & let it do its thing. worked like a charm & fixed my issue, but then someone said I should have a US build, can anyone tell me why? if so.. anyone have a copy of 4.010.11 they can provide me with & how I would go about to install it. Is it the same concept as done before? Really the main thing is, will I have issues downloading new updates? if I don't switch to 4.010.11.. or will I have an issue regardless bcus I don't have the original ROM.. & if so.. how am I going to be able to work around it in the future.

Market....get Acery Recovery Installer. After you install it, go into the app and have it install Clockwork recovery mod, miking sure you click yes when it asks you to backup your recover image.
Here is the thread on CWM, although you no longer need to push to install thanks to Acer recovery installer:

Mainly the differences are in the software you get with the tablet and certain underlying factors in the settings, like what channels are allowed in wifi....especially wifi n which allows a greater variety of channels, bands, etc. The world around uses different channels based on government regulations/standards.
I suspect this is why a number of people have issues with connecting to Wifi. They get ROMS from XDA, update their U.S tablets with foreign ROMS and vice versa and then have wifi issues.
You technically don't HAVE to be on a U.S version if you're in the U.S, but for the reasons above, I wouldn't ever recommend using a foreign ROM.

Hey everyone, normally I wouldn't ask this question, but I can't seem to find an answer so I figured I'd throw it out and see if someone can help. Yesterday, after running Taboonay 2.0 for a while, I decided to revert back to stock 3.1. I used Acer Recovery Installer to do so, and chose the 4.010.07 stock ROM to go back to, figuring I could update from there. After installing the ROM, I checked the build number on my tablet, and it showed 4.010.15_COM_GEN1. System update says there are no updates available for me, but as far as I was aware, 4.010.13 was the latest US update. I have no idea what I have, or why it jumped from the .07 I thought I was getting to .15 without me downloading any sort of OTA update. So if anyone has an idea, an answer would be appreciated.
I also reverted yesterday but the update I got was 4.010.13_GEN2

? stock recovery or cwm flashing?
so can i just flash this
I had rooted right out of the box and i regret doing it cuz i dont see a real reason to overclock when everything runs fine as is..
can i flash in cwm(power vol.-) or stock recovery (power vol.+)
thank you for this i wanted to unroot and go back to stock but every time i tried to update it said network coverage is poor please find a different location ..
Im on wifi so this made no sense so I hope this help and works ill wait to flash till i hear from you on what to do im a newbie on the acer.. so help is greatly appreciated thanks !

Yes and no,
You can flash with CWM however after downloading the archive you will need to extract it and only use the update.zip from within. You need to place the update on the EXTERNAL sd card for it to work. It is running great on my a500.
Make sure your version is running the same as the before I have posted in the OP. I don't know if it will make a difference but it might.
Ok yea before I rooted it wanted me to update to the ver. You had before you updated to your current build.
I wounder if you are correct about update to 3.1 then 3.2 cuz it definitely was trying to do the other build not the 3.2 unless that is new..
I hope that the update help fc'ings with some gameloft games asphalt 6 was downloaded while on 3.0.1 tried to play compatibility issue then used a501 rom and others all popular roms still didn't work...
Frustrating ..
Is there a way after I update to do a factory reset to delete every and start over .. everytime I try it just delete apps kinda all programs are still there though ex. I go to market after factory reset and it says open insted of install so the apps are hidden but still installed lol..
Sry for writing a book but I'm getting frustrated.
thank you again bud!

No one seems to show GEN2 any love. Its all GEN1 and CUS7. For those that want GEN2 (I live in US), well here you are. A full image for Acer_A500_7.006.01_COM_GEN2. This is not edited in any way. (This means not rooted). This is probably not going to be useful to the average person. For a modified (but rooted) ROM of this, look here
This is not OTA and can be used without ClockWorkMod (CWM) or any modifications of any kind.
Unzip Acer_A500_7.006.01_COM_GEN2.zip and place update.zip on the root of your SD card.
I should also mention this is Honeycomb 3.2 for those that don't keep track of the build numbers (and who can blame you?), and this DOES have a locked bootloader. But, nevertheless, and valid source for flashing and other things!

Yea I wouldn't worry 2 much about GEN2. If you have a choice, get GEN2. Otherwise it doesnt matter. The differences are mostly system files related to keyboards and databases and such from what I have dissected.
Like spelling color as colour and other oddities.
That and different bloatware, not all the same as the US

Vache has a downgrade image to Acer_A501_1.309.02_COM_GEN1 that will work with the new locked bootloader. Root that image then install CWM THEN install a custom rom. That will prevent the boot verification issue!

What version did you flash? If it was 3.0.1 it's ridiculously buggy. Ideally you want 3.1 so you can root it with sc2k's GingerBreak modification then flash CWM then a custom 3.2.1 ROM, Thor's ICS ROM or one of the Leak-based ICS ROMs

Not sure why you installed ICS. That just compounds the issue.
You can take a look at this thread, and try NVFlash. This guy had a similar issue.

Considering you were able to install ICS, I would like to ask if you did this from CWM recovery? My guess, is there is a ton of corrupted data in the partitions. This would explain things a little. If you can get it back to HC, then you can run a dmesgview and get your UID number. Then you should be able to run TimmyDeans tool in the General thread (I believe).

My guess, is that your EC Pwr control got messed up along with corrupted data. I would advise staying away from the ICS Beta leaks, and just get a good HC up and running.

Sure, I made it thru the Recovery. Can you help me with something really quick?, I think I can fix everything if you download some file that is in a Russian forum but I can't have access to register due to my bad russian lol.
I solved everything installing ICS then installing EC_ROM for ICS. =)
If someone need the files I have it.
Thanks for all the help and God bless you all!.0

As always, glad you got it going!
Now, you may want to edit your post, or create a new reply, and attach that EC Rom flash for ICS, just in case others may need it.
