Well, today I'm going to get the free Nexus S 4G, so I'll be retiring my trusty ol' (slightly beat up) hero. I just wanted to say thanks to all the amazing people and devs in the CDMA Hero section. You guys make our weak little devices cool and contemporary on a regular basis. I would've pulled my hair out by now if it weren't for you! So thank you thank you THANK YOU!
You guys are the best. Keep going strong, be humble, kind and compassionate, and it'll keep the CDMA section a very pleasant place!
God bless!

You went from a single core at 768mhz to a single core at 1ghz......
Shoulda saved ur upgrade. Theyre killing off all these phones in the next 3 months to bring in a new line of phones.

Yeah, the Nexus S has good developer support so it'll be a good phone for another year or so. It's basically to Gingerbread what the Hero is to Sense. It'll last a while at least.

Ya the only reason I got this evo shift was because my hero broke finally after a year and a half. This was free and didn't cost me an upgrade so dont care. It is 100 times faster even just on sense 2.0
My free EVO Shift thanks to bestbuy
Stock this phone will rock the hero on its best day lol and I maxed out my old hero
My free EVO Shift thanks to bestbuy
im on verizon now with the tbolt and i love it, no need for dual core anyways. the hero was a good phone back in the day.
What are Sprint giving if a take the hero for a Replacement?

I'm curious about this as well...
It was totally worth it!
Just to let you guys all know, the Nexus S is a GREAT phone! I have ZERO complaints! It's fast, has a good screen, perfect size, and great battery life! And MIUI Rom is AMAZING! I'm loving it. Best of all, it was FREE. Plus, my wife has an upgrade available still, and she doesn't care about phones, so I'll give her the nexus S and buy the nexus prime when it comes out (or a few weeks/months later, when the price comes down...cuz now that I have a fast phone, I don't mind waiting to save some $$). Just wanted to give you guys my 2 cents. It was totally worth it.
(Plus I signed up for the best buy Buy Back program, which means in two years, they'll give me $150 bucks for the phone...holla! I just got a new phone and MADE $150!! WIN!)
EDIT: Plus I used my insurance to trade in my beat up old hero for a refurbished one (brand new looking) which I then sold on craigslist for $120! Double win! Made $270 and got a sweet phone! Sorry if it sounds like I'm gloating...I'm not...I'm just stoked!
I had the two year Replacement insurance from best buy so when I took it in to get fix they gave me a refurbished one. I then went directly over to the mobile department and ask them for a buy back.... since my newer hero was in mint refurbished condition I would have received $20 cuz I have the box & everything that came in the box.
a beat up hero is worse $0.00
So I walked out and immediately rooted and loving the hero deck ROM ....
I'll hold off my upgrade for something later maybe near Christmas.
Keep up the awesome work developers

Hello all, it's finally come time to get rid of my faithful HTC HD2. I've had Android on it now for a couple of years, essentially saving the phone from a dusty cupboard since upgrading to the SGS2. I use both phones, the GSII mainly for net and the HD2 as a phone because it's got hardware phone buttons and means making and taking calls is so much easier.
I considered putting it on eBay but there's a fair few on there and i've had scammers come at me from all over the place back in the day. I ended up using a comparison website to find out how much i'd get and to be honest it wasn't that much less than I expected through eBay.
So i've got rid of my HD2 and i'm using the money to put toward the Galaxy S III when that comes out. I also have a second contract with a GS II so maybe next year i'll do the same, or even sell it now and pay the contract off
Anyway, if anyone else wants to have a look at the site it's www.onbay.co.uk/recycle
Not worth it in think you better off selling at a pawn shop or craigslist.

Luck
Did you try your luck on the xda-dev's seller forum?
All you really have to do is post up your device, and look at the offers from other members.
Not a bad deal in my opinion.

I'm just a bit wary when Joe Bloggs is involved, there's a lot of nutters out there. Pawn Shops rarely give me what i'd like, plus they'll be selling it for £100 more within the hour. Even if the recycler does that...at least I won't be able to see it.

I have listed a phone through there but nobody took interest. I've seen some scams too, plus it all seems to be 90% USA.
Thanks for the replies anyway

I asked them friday if I could get the EvoLTE then change to the GS3 and said no, the first batch will be for people buying the phone and the second batch could be for phone swaps. Needless to say, Im going to a store also and buying the phone today.
This is why I went to bb for the 30 day return period. I don't like the evolte myself and can't wait for 2 more hours to have the gs3 woohoo

The stupid thing is the policy states you can exchange the phone, but the employee who originally sold it to you will get dinged for the exchange (even though you are going still have a phone). Also, some stores have an in-this-store-only policy to only allow new sales with contract (you know - the ones that they make commission on) for the first run of phones so they reserve the inventory to those that make them money.
Sprint doesn't like these type of exchanges because they now have to make a $550 phone into a refurbished phone, losing the subsidy for it (whether it's done in BB or corporate stores) and because of how much it affects the salesperson's overall numbers, it's become a huge deal just to take advantage of the policy.
Best advice: Don't be a crybaby about policy, stay cool and keep calm. If you start getting mad or demanding your money back, you're going to have a bad time. Bring all the crap that came with the evo (box, manual, charger and cable) and if you buy accessories from them for the GSIII, it might help sway their decision.

Well back from the sprint store disappointed,I was greeted with 'we can't do exchanges until tomorrow" ...so I came close to asking for a refund and going to T-Mobile...but my nosey gf convinced me to wait until tomorrow. On a positive note, I actually got to play with it for a while and man does it blow away the EVO lte ....And I'm definitely getting the white, the blue just didn't appeal to me.

I was told that they couldnt sell it because first batch was only for new lines or upgrades... I called account management and they told me they couldnt do that, so they talked to the employee who then called the store manager who allowed the guy to sell me the phone... yup, Im another proud owner of a Galaxy S III phone.
Now a proud owner of a white gs3 ...Took only 10mins, got to say the sprint rep was very easy going and didn't make it difficult. Loving the phone so far, I think I'm so use to Samsung phones now and that was probably why I couldn't appreciate the Evo lte

I'm not sure if this is where I should post this, but I guess it kinda applies to this forum.
Anyways, this company apparently has really good deals. But I'm sure if they are a real/reputable company. I mean according to the post, the have brand new devices. Like a Galaxy Note for $300 and an iPhone 4S 16GB for $280. I think these deals are too good to be true, but if they are real, I want to buy things!

Best Buy doesn't give you a different phone through their insurance?
Yes they do if you go for a repair and they can't fix it. They just give you the original retail value of the device if they can't repair it

if you purchase the Best Buy Protection plan on phones, it says, that if you send it in for a repair and The Best Buy Service Center is unable to fix it, they will garbage the device and give you the full retail value($650) in Best Buy Credits to purchase another phone or anything for that matter

So if i buy a htc hero put it on best buy protection plan break if beyond repair, i'll be able to get like 300$? What
Exactly. Or you can purchase the Best Buy BUY BACK PLAN and if you don't want you for phone after using it, Best Buy will give you half the phones retail value back
I read the BB protection plan terms & condition and reading it you are right about getting money back for the phone that doesn't exceed the original price, Bestbuy determines the original price and the person would be rewarded a voucher/gift card. Knowing how businesses that give insurance on products it's more than likely they'll give you money not in hand, but only to be used to buy another phone from bestbuy. That money will be subtracted from whatever phone of you're choosing original price which will again be determined by Best Buy.So basically it's sprint upgrade/new customer savings.
Which is exactly what I said initially

Their protection plan gave me full retail value on my PS2, five years after I bought it (I had to swap out my system once a year because the laser consistently wore out). The year they changed to the slim model, they also gave me a gift card because the slim retailed at half the price of the original. I went in with a broken system, and walked out with a brand new slim PS2, a $50 Nirvana compilation, and Christmas gifts for everyone on my list, without spending a dime
